I booked a hotel on Priceline from 1/1 - 1/7/2007 and originally planned on buying 4 day park hopper tickets good during the "Adults play for the kids price" promotion that starts 1/3. But, it is forecasted to rain on Jan 4th and quite possibly the 5th and 6th. We have myself, DH, 17yo friend, 16yo DD, 12yo DS and 6 yo DD with us so only one child ticket. It is cheapest for us to do the "play at the kid price', rather than paying $30. more per person to go earlier in the week with less chance of rain.
What would you do? We live in Arizona and are used to very warm climate. :cool2: It is usually warm when it rains also. But, I know from growing up in the Bay Area in CA that the CA rain is usually cold and it gets colder at night.
Oh, also my 16yo DD's boyfriend, the 17yo, this will be his first time to Disneyland and I want it to be a great trip for him. pirate: His parents are deaf and have never been to Disney because of finances and I think they don't like crowds. His mother is very excited for him to go with us. I just don't want him to go home and say it was cold and wet and he didn't have a good time. He is a pretty laid back kid (to be my daughter's boyfriend he has to be, LOL, she is strong willed!) so it would have to be pretty bad for him to not enjoy it.
Any suggestions??
Go, buy poncho's and enjoy, If it rains the crowds will go away and you will have a great time.

I agree, I would not change your dates and spend more money as you never really know how the weather will end up being! Have a great time, most of the kids are old enough where they could do their own thing and have fun even if it is raining!

Hi - We'll be there those same dates and also live in AZ. I'm just going to be sure to pack lots of warm clothing and am going to get some high quality ponchos before going. Weather.com says showers on the 4th, scattered showers the 5th, sunny the 6th so I don't think it will rain the whole time. Plus, I don't find weather.com that accurate. www.noaa.com is more accurate. They only forecast one week out though so I am waiting for their forecast.

Go in the rain! I couldn't imagine not going because of rain. You'll still have fun and the rain will scare some crowds away.

There is a Target right down the road on Harbor Blvd. that will sell rain ponchos cheaper than in the park or right along the street. Or get them before you leave. They really keep you pretty dry. Everyone else is right; a lot of people leave, so the park empties out. Some rides do close, but some stay open unless it starts lightening. We're from AZ also, so it's really kind of cool to run around in the rain. Have fun!

Dl in the rain is still fun! It cuts down on the people there , and as Albort said you can ride more. Take jackets and put them in lockers if you don't need them in the day. Many rides the lines are inside and the plaza inn is great inside dining for rainy days. Have a great time!:thumbsup2

As a kid we went a lot in November, and it rained on a few different trips. Those were some of the best vacations! There were hardly ever any lines to anything! We just went from ride to ride. Tons of fun! I'd say stick with the same dates and have fun!

Weather.com has revised its forecast. Rain seems to be out of the forecast (at least for now).:cool1:

Just go for it!
We've been in the rain before - the lines go way down, especially at DCA!
Buy a poncho (or take them with you) and have a great time. The only ride that was a problem for us was autopia - gave me a wet tushy.

my DBF and i are also from AZ (born and raised in the desert lol) and we went on our first five day trip to Disneyland two years ago and it was raining the entire time we were there. Literally. The entire time. And it was a blast! We rode every ride at least once and watched every show and it was so nice not to have to fight through the crowds! It was cold and wet sure but it was worth it to have such a relaxing trip. Ponchos (we bought them at Target for like $1) were lifesavers :)
have fun! :umbrella:

I just went to the AAA store in Phx/Glendale and they only have 2 and 3 day passes for 2006. Disney store at Arrowhead mall only had 2006 tickets and Safeway just had 2 day passes for 2006.
Where can I get the 2007, adults play for the kids price tickets that are good starting Jan 3rd???
I wonder if I can buy them at Safeway in California? Anyone know??

You can buy them online at disneyland.com then pick them up and the ticket window.

or, you can go to mousesavers.com which recommends buying them from ARES Travel. They will 2nd Day Air them to you for $10, and they are cheaper than DL prices by a couple bucks.

You might also be able to get them at a Disney Store if you have one in a mall near you.

This is what we did. We said we'd pick them up on the 2nd. (so we'll be ready to go on the third!)

Heck, sometimes I wish it WOULD rain more when I visit; it truly does cut down on the lines. Most of the rides stay in operation; if you can handle missing the teacups, you'll still be able to have a great day! The Mickey Ponchos keep you pretty dry and are definitely worth it. Besides, even if the forecast calls for rain, in Southern California, the rain rarely lasts for very long.

I checked out there prices yesterday and they were much better than anywhere else. I had my husband call last night (I was working at the time) and he said they are not sending anything out FEDEX because FedEx is "all messed up". They said they have not been shipping out tickets for a week now. I am really bummed because I was going to buy the 5 day tickets for 2006 because they were only 163. for adults.
I might have to buy tickets from Disneyland.com since I can pick them up at the window. Thanks for the tip!
Someone else said Disney Store, well, they don't have the 2007 tickets yet. :sad2: I usually buy from there.

Honestly, I have an almost 5 yo DD. The rains in LA aren't the same as the rains in FL. In FL, it's typically a pretty warm rain. I've found it to be pretty cold and miserable in the LA area. DD would be miserable, even if the older boys (my older boys) would be okay and take it in stride.
I'm not sure what I'd do, honestly. Just wanted to give you a different perspective.

From what I understand, the adults pay kids prices promotion is an internet only promotion. I don't believe you get those rates if you purchase anywhere else.
