Alright!
I'll get us started then.
We probably won't start weigh ins or anything for a week or so. We should use that time to talk about what we want to accomplish.
So my story: I joined WW about 4 years ago to lose weight before my 2004 wedding. I did VERY well and the pounds just fell off. I was only 22 then so I know that helped.
I lost about 35 pounds (about 10 shy of my goal weight) I felt great and was tired of paying the big bucks to go to the WW meetings so I stopped. About a year and a half later came the wedding (and about 10 more pounds back on).
So now here I am basically back to weight I started at 4 years ago and I want to get healthy for my future last big bash vacation without kids and to get my body ready to carry a baby or two.
So I'll post my goals and all that as soon as I go to my first meeting!

Lets see....my weight has always been a pain. I am tall which is my saving grace
because I love to eat  I want to lose 20lbs that sounds nice....:cool1: When its warm out I love to walk ...during the summer I was walking about 5 miles a day and lost about 15lbs but I think they found there way back cause it has been too cold to walk and I couldn't out run them anymore...:sad2:

I don't have a set amount that I want to lose. I just want to get healthier. Now that I am getting older..it's harder to lose the weight that I want. I just want to be as healthy as I can so I can be around a long time for my DH and DS.

Hello Mad Chatters and welcome to WISH! If you are looking for support in losing weight you have come to the right place. There is a great group here who are doing all kinds of programs or just their own thing and everyone has advice of some kind or another which can be very helpful when losing weight.
You all told your stories and goals so I will fill you in on mine. I found WISH almost 4 years ago, I was living in Italy and doing WW on my own. WISH was a lifesaver for me since I couldn't attend meetings I used WISH as my support board. I successfully lost 60 pounds, but then a series of life changing events happened one after another, I stopped following WW to a "T" because "I knew what I was doing" and I stopped hanging around WISH and over the course of 2 years I gained over 24 pounds back. This past July I got sick and tired of the extra weight and I joined WW again, started hanging around the WISH boards again and have lost almost 18 pounds to date. I still want to lose another 7 pounds, but it has been hard with the holidays here. But I am still committed and hope that this time I have learned a life lesson, that being this isn't a diet, it is my life and how I chose to live it and what I chose to eat will impact how I feel about myself and my body.
Good luck to you all! And BTW, what are the Mad Chatters all about, I am curious.

I'm in Broadview Heights. I'm one who's been lucky most of my life, thin and never really knew much about eating properly. After a time 2 kids (grown up now) and a desk job, it does catch up with everyone. I started packing it on and got to almost 30 pounds in the moderately obese range according to fitday.com. I don't look it exactly, but I have the extra pounds for sure. I've managed to get it down, but keep playing with 15 pounds up and down for some time still. I can't get into the healthy weight range yet. So my goal is to make it to the healthy weight range and I use fitday.com to track my weight and eating and will use that when I get back from the event to get myself on track. I'm hoping to get to check in to see how everyone is doing as time progresses.

Hey all,
Welcome to WISH! This is such a supportive place~ Glad you are here.
I joined WISH back in 2002 or 2003, I forget exactly when. I made it to my WW goal and then I immediately thought........hmm I can eat now, lol! Didn't work. I've been yo-yoing the past few years and although I haven't gained it all back I struggle with about 15-25 pounds of extra weight. My goal for 2007 is to get back down to my WW goal, and then go about 6-7 pounds below that (my WW goal is the highest that WW allows for me). And then, learn to maintain there. Most of the year I can eat healthy, but I get into ruts and really gain it quickly.
So let's all make 2007 the year we get rid of this weight once and for all!

I like the food for the most part but then I've been living on fast food most of my life. ;)
I do feel full..in fact I am eating more than I used to ...I'm just eating waaaaaay more healthy!
I am concerned about "going off" the meals when I reach goal but I'm using each meal as a lesson of how much and what to eat rather than just a diet.
The nutritionists are very helpful too.

Hey everybody!
I've never been a Mad Chatter (I'm a "Cheeky Chick"!), but like the idea of the CB crowd meeting up over here. I know there are a lot of established groups over here and wouldn't want to butt in--especially since they're already knee deep in their health goals, so it would be nice to join in with some DISers who are just getting started on their goals --and CBers to boot. Not to be exclusive or controversial, I just feel funny jumping into a WISH thread that's been going for months--or years!
So.
I plan to get my goals on paper before the clock strikes 2007. I want to lose weight and be better prepared to take on the year--at home, at work, and at WDW! :woohoo:

I'd be happy to answer any questions, however, be sure to check out the nutrisystem website as it should answer most of your questions.
Register on the website (it is free) and you have access to the bulletin boards where you can post questions and read various FAQs.
If you decide to try it out, please let me know and I'll get you one of the $30 coupons.
My sister did WW and it worked quite well for her. I just don't want to have to bother thinking about points. I'm usually so frazzled by my job that I need pre-prepared entrees!

Jumping in for a sec..... Hey bpr2002... I'm from Baton Rouge, too. BRHS class of '83 and LSU class of '87. I live in central Florida now though.
Anyway, I would like to join ya'll since this thread is new. I hate to say it, but I am at my all time high as far as my weight goes. I even weighed less right before giving birth. I want to get the weight off -- more for my health than anything else -- but like many of us, I have trouble making myself a priority. Why do we do that? So, that is my New Year's resolution. I'm going to be a little more selfish and take care of me. I'd love to have someone hold my feet to the fire, too. Well, that's about it.
I look forward to getting to know all of you better as we start this journey. I'm raising a glass of water to our success in 2007. Cheers.........

I did WW in 2004 andlost 50 lbs, quit when football season started and gained 60 lbs back. So I want to lose 65 lbs at least, I should lose closer to 75-80, but i will see how it goes. I haven't officially weighed in yet.
Should we pick a day of the week to weigh ourselves? Then we can all post together.
The WW thread does it on Monday, so would that work for everyone?
Of course you don't have to weigh in weekly if you don't want to. Whatever works best for everyone!
So our first official weigh in will be next Monday, the 8th?

Alright everyone!! Keep it up!
Monday is the first official Weigh in IF YOU WANT TO!! I will report so I can be accountable to everyone. You don't actually have to tell us your weight. After weigh in you can decide on a goal and then count down from your goal every week as you lose!
Nicole drinking the water is awesome!! You'll have to pee constantly at first but your body will get used to it and start using the water to flush out the bad stuff, it's great for your kidneys and other organs.
some tips:
Stock up on your favorite veggies in whatever form you like best (fresh, frozen, canned) and eat asd much of it as you want when you are hungry!
Drink your 8 glasses of water. I do this by keeping a big bottle of water with me all the time. It's much easier to go through a couple big bottles than 8 little ones.
Don't drink your calories!!! Don't waste calories on soda (pop around here :)) or sugar in your tea or coffee. Get used to drinking the water and you won't miss the other stuff.
Find a few low calorie dishes that you love and add them to your normal routine. they say that most people only eat a few different meals when they make them themselves. we eat the same 8 or so meals all the time, so make them good for you!
When eating out drink a full glass of water before your food comes and then SLOWLY eat your meal. The water will fill you up and you will eat less.
willis37862
01-05-2007, 01:37 PM
Good tips Sarah..thanks for sharing them. :)
I didn't weigh this last Monday so I don't know what I weigh yet but I will weigh this Monday and go from there...I will be happy to post what if anything I lose each week...I agree good motivation.
I have done ok today...I had my banana and 2 tbs of peanut butter for breakfast and then a grilled chicken wrap for lunch no fries....which was hard...so hope I can hang in there the rest of the day.
It gets so much easier once you start to see the difference the first couple of weeks are always hard for me.

Hello everyone, I'd love to join your group if you don't mind.
I belonged to WISH awhile back, lost 25+ pounds while I was a member (40 total as I lost some before I joined) but got lazy and gave up when I hit a plateau and slowly gained 18 pounds back. :(
I am turning 50 this year so am determined to get those 18 pounds back off, plus at least another 15-20 and maybe more.
I started back on my diet Tuesday, and I write down everything I eat in a notebook so I'm counting calories and carbs.
And I'm back to exercising too. I'm starting out slowly though, but will work up to exercising at least 30 minutes per day 4-5 days per week.
Good luck to everyone!! :yay:

Okay I weighed in!
I'll be brave and tell you all my actual numbers, because I will be more accountable that way.
I'm starting at 179 (which is exactly where I started on WW 4 years ago :() So I have 35 pounds to lose to get to the max for my height and age. So my goal will be 40 pounds!!
My goal this week is to get back into drinking ALL of my water. this weekend I drank a lot of tea, which is okay, but I put (GASP!) sugar in it, so no more of that.
Hopefully I will be joining WW again next week, which will hopefully get my butt in gear!
