Splash Mountain - Surprising News

According to the calendar on the official Disney site, Splash Mountain will close Mon. Jan 22 and reopen Friday, Feb 2. This is great news! Does this make your day, or what?!

I wouldn't count on it. It is supposed to be down for an extended refurbishement, sometimes the calendar makes mistakes. However, sending pixie dust your way that it will be open when you are there.

I am hoping it's open too, but I am not counting on it yet. I will for sure keep my eye on it now.

I'm hoping its open too! We'll be there Mar 14-21 and was disappointed when I saw the rehab schedule on disboards for: 01/23/07 – 05/04/07 – Splash Mountain.

I agree that sometimes the calendar has mistakes. Right now for Jan. 27th it has Fantasmic listed as showing at 9 and 10:35 but also lists Fantasmic as closed for refurbishment! I do hope for your sake that Splash does reopen as it says. Fortunately for me, my DD will get to ride it at least a few times before it closes during our trip. It is her all time fave!

my refurb list still lists Splash down until May 2007.

but it did change from Fantasmic to Tom Sawyer island. So maybe there still is Fantasmic... my list doesnt show Fantasmic in refurb...

We arrive the 23rd so we'll just miss Splash. At least we go to do it at WDW in Sept. We loved it there too! And loved getting wet there in all that HEAT!!!

we love splash but DH hates getting wet and was thrilled to hear it was going to be closed , maybe we will get lucky and it will be open!

I think DL fixed their calendar. I just checked and it still shows Splash down through the end of March. Looks like they have it open on Jan 22nd now though. Sorry!

We were there on the day the Monorail was supposed to reopen 12/15. We left on 12/22 and it still was not reopened. Disney is really good about the shut down date...the reopen dates seem to be open to interpretation. Here's hoping you have better luck with Splash than we had with the Monorail! :)

they had some problems with the disneyland station and was patching it up around the 14th. i think it didnt get done until the 22 which opened on the 22. you missed it by a day :(

Do you have a list of what is in the works to be closed the last week of March?
I've seen bits and pieces. The DL website doesn't have anything yet. Wanted to know what I was going to have to prepare the kids for and what I wanted to do for reservations when my timeframe opens up.

We will be there March 7-12 for my son's 8th birthday. he has no idea, it's a huge surprise. My parents and my husbands parents are all going. I hope Splash is up and going by then it's my dads favorite!!! ALso does anyone have any good ideas for B-day stuff. I called to ask questions and the cast member was rude and rushed me off the phone saying all they do it a thing at Goofy's Kitchen and Minnie and friends. I asked for other stuff and she cut me off. Anyone know anything else?

Disneyland has been crazy... everyone is exhausted, give it a chance :)

Definitely get him a b-day button - my DH made me wear one and I got about 40 happy b-day's - I have a feeling a CM can get fired if they see it and don't wish a happy b-day - at least that is what it seemed like!!

Theres a Birthday party at the Plaza and birthday buckets at Goofys I think. Check the Disney website and look under special occasions. Hope this helps. Have a great trip!! My DS's birthday is in March also. I am checking into the B'day stuff for him also.

That birthday button or sticker will get you a package of freshly made tortillas at the tortilla factory in CA Adventure as well. We've been in DL for 4 of my 5 family members bdays over the past 2 years each time have gotten our tortillas to snack on (everyone gets a free one to sample, but the bday person gets a package). :cool1:
