I really miss the WISH of years past. When I first started posting on the WISH board, the board was busy and there were always lots of posts. It sure seems to not be as busy as it used to be.
I really miss the old WISH.
I'm sorry to hear that things have changes so much here. :( I'm a relative newbie (since June). I'm hoping that things will get better in the New Year. It's nice to meet you by the way! :teeth:

 Hi Melanie! I know what you mean, it can be depressing some times. I hang out mostly on the WW thread, at least over there (to me) it is like the old WISH boards, only that it is contained to one thread. But I guess as with anything things change with time. In February it will be 4 years since I discovered WISH, who would have thought back then that I would still be working my way to goal! That is what I get for giving up and gaining some weight back....this time I am hoping it will be different. I am close to goal now, it would be great to reach it by my anniversary!!!!
Hopefully some more of our old WISHers will return after the new year and some new ones!!! My WW leader last night compared it to the story of the Polar Express, some times people stop hearing the bell ringing (or the weight loss call) so it is important to stay focused so you can always hear the bell!

mel (and debbie) i'm saddened to read disappointment in your posts. i know it's not complete let-down or you wouldn't still be here, but anyhoo. i hope you know the WISH mods have an open PM-door policy and welcome your thoughts and suggestions/comments any and all times! please PM me or all of us at once if you want to discuss more in depth what you'd like to see happening around here
that said -- for myself this is just a busy family time of the year. WISH is my homepage so i pop on still several times a day, but this time of the year i may just have time to skim the top posts and not even really read any. it has been a hectic year in 2006 for me with our home remodel consuming my time over the past 6 months. i apologize if i haven't been able to keep some fire going here
but also WISH needs our family to keep things alive too. what kind of threads do you miss? what comes to my mind are folks sharing in celebration when they are changing their WISH clippie. i miss those, they always made me feel like it really is possible.
it's early, my brain is still waking up so please don't read anything offensively into what i've said. i believe in WISH, it's been a strong foundation in my journey to have and to keep a healthy lifestyle. In some ways I have felt that b/c the board has grown so much over the past 3-4 years, that some of the closeness has naturally fizzled as it's just so hard to get to know everyone as there are so many of us. how can that be a negative in any way? it's exciting to me that a sub-board on a disney discussion forum can help so many of us better ourselves and our futures.

Things will start picking up after the New Year begins! It always does!
ohmom, I'll be sharing a snag of the new clippie Sunday when I weigh in! I have lost 65 unofficially. And yep, I am gonna SING about it!
Just give it a couple of weeks and things will pick up!!

Yes, I do miss the WISH that we had in the beginning. Those early days were something. I sense that many of our WISH group found their way into some of the threads and keep that spirit going within these threads. Some do come to the “main” WISH forum occasionally, but you are correct, not as often.
I’ve pondered about your comment and feelings often as I try to be here for many of our group. I like the comment relating the “Polar Express.” Maybe for some it was their time.
I am uplifted to know that many of our WISHers have been here for quite some time, and that they are here to help others along the way. I am uplifted to see many new people come to find support and give support.
I know it is important to “come often and post lots!” We do need each other as we work through our new lifestyle choices.
I’m glad for all of us.

I really miss the WISH of years past. When I first started posting on the WISH board, the board was busy and there were always lots of posts. It sure seems to not be as busy as it used to be.
I really miss the old WISH.
Hi, Melanie!
I hope you remember me! I used to post here alot back in 2003 back when Kelsie was more of an active member. We had quite a great group back then, but from what I've read the current members seem to be very supportive and encouraging too.
I'll never forget your post about someone eating your lettuce! :) You were all set to have a nice big taco salad when you got home, but someone had eaten your lettuce. We were part of the WW "bulk eaters" who liked to make the most of their points and fill up on 0 point veggies so we could feel like we stuffed ourselves!
I stepped away from the boards because I was going through a divorce and had alot of sad/negative feelings going on so I didn't want to pollute the board with my negative energy. I also pulled away from my group of WISH buddies who were and still are a FANTASTIC group of ladies!!!! I miss Tammy, Bev, Molli, and Annie!
Alot has changed for me since then. I have maintained my weight loss, but I frequent fitness forums that focus on weight lifting and calorie counting with more focus on eating whole foods and keeping track of macro percentages, etc. (% of calories from protein, fats and carbs).
I went back to school and got a degree in Advanced Massage Therapy. I'm ready to start my own massage business. I met a wonderful man and we're engaged to be married. My mother was diagnosed with stage IIIb lung cancer over the summer and I've been spending lots of time with her and my Dad while she's been having her chemo and radiation treatments. Fortunately she is a candidate for surgery, so she will have her entire right lung removed on Dec. 28. My brother spent a year in Iraq and is now home safe with his wife in TX. All these things make me appreciate that I have lost weight and that I make the choice to eat healthy and exercise so that I can be the best I can be. We ARE what we eat. It's been proven that a healthy diet and exercise is the best way to maintain a healthy immune system. I don't want to be part of the unhealthy statistics so I choose to nourish my body. It's alot easier to say no to cookies, cake, processed foods, etc. when you know how your body responds to these things once they are digested and in your system.
I really owe alot of my weight loss success to WISH! It helped me stay very focused on reaching my goal. Knowing I could pop onto the boards and share the events of my day as far as exercising and making healthy eating choices was a great comfort to me. It is nice to have lots of support when you want to celebrate victories whether they are as simple as drinking all your water for the day or fitting into smaller pants or running a mile for the first time. I don't post anymore, but I do follow the WW thread because I love to see how my old pals are doing.
Remember the fashion show that Tiggerlover participated in? That was so exciting!
Just wanted to say hi! Good luck to you!!! You were also a great inspiration to me on the days that I just felt like throwing in the WW towel. Hang in there!
Merry Christmas everyone!

It's me, Molli! She misses me! Hi Mel!
I have to admit, I've gone AWOL and at my checkup yesterday my dr. told me I gained 18 pounds since 2004, so I can prove it.
I can't speak for anyone else, but I'll be back - starting 12/26, and more seriously 1/2/07.

Oh my gosh, Karen...aka....former WISH Buddy!!!! It is so good to "see" you hear and how wonderful it is to know you have kept your weight off. Sorry to hear about your mother and your divorce, but congrats on finding a new man in your life!!! I had forgotten about the fashion show....wow, that seems like ages ago!! I think there is a thread on here about that with some pictures....I may have to search them out....lol. So good to "hear" your update, hope you will come around some more.

I don't think it is anything to do with the mods or WISH, I think some of us old timers found a special bond with people who frequented the boards back then and the over all feeling here is now different (different times, different people). Not bad, just different. Also there can be days where the posts just don't seem to move much, where as before you would come and have to catch up on a page or two, I think the amount of posters have decreased....there may be a lot of lurkers though. I still love WISH, I was just relating to how Melanie feels. :)

Man - I did not have one minute yesterday to check the boards or did I look at my emails at home either and WOW - oh WOW - it was REUNION time ! Count me in on missing a bit of the past BUT we can MAKE IT WHAT WE WANT IT TO BE AGAIN !! I STILL NEED ALL YOU GUYS ..... I have a few extra I am struggling to get off again and just reading this post makes me feel accountable - like whoa Karen's back and reminding me I am what I eat - oh - I need that one DAILY this time of the year!!
Karen - when can I schedule an appt for a massage - any discounts for an "old" (yep, if it gets me a discount- I'll play the old card) friend :teeth: Good for you moving on with your life and sorry to hear about your mom - prayers for successful surgery. Engaged  (pm later - got an early bird shopping request from DH - so I need to be out the door!)
Tiggerlover - miss hearing from you too - still in VA I see - good for you that you are almost to GOAL ! Keep up that good work :cheer2:
AnnieT - does this mean YOU will be BACK for REAL, too ???
Tammy - let's go find Tammy - I know she wants to rejoin us too!
MelC, Tiger Lily and Molli (of course I am in touch with her all the time :goodvibes ) mostly I see lately around the WISH board - hey there is nothing stopping us from getting REVIVED and
Welcome newbies - glad to meet you AEG here (my DD is ohMom) hope to see you more too. I confess - life has been WAY hectic for me the past couple of weeks in particular BUT I still know that I need the WISH Board and Buddies to continue to help me make good choices!
Hugs to all - YEAH - our lost WISHers are found

I'm new this year to WISH, and have found much support and inspiration here. I definitely lurk more than I post, and I don't always have much time to spend here, but have definitely read and been inspired by Tiggerlover, Tigerlily03, and ohMom. I spent a lot of time reading and getting tips from the Dis for my recent trip, and the most wonderful, supportive, and positive people are here on WISH. I have never read one negative comment on this board. You all are the greatest. Thank you.

OMG -
TIG H! I remember you! I'm so glad to hear things are going well for you!!
ANNIE T!!! & Tammy!!! How are you all doing. It's great to see faces of WISH past!!!
Tiggerlover - Hopefully we can all get to goal together and stay there this time. 2007 is going to be the year!
Molli & Tigerlilly- Please don't feel like it has anything to do with the MOD's! If it wasn't for you guys, WISH would probably have fallen off the wayside! I love that you guys are always here trying to bring WISH back to it was. I think it's just the conversations and posts and people that I miss. I'll really try to think what it was. I know we used to have weekly weight loss threads and so much more. It just felt like a community back then. I think most of us are lost in our threads (which I love and need) and we don't have as much time for the other stuff (I'm guilty of that too). Plus with the holidays it's hard.
Bev- I'll be there working to make it what we want!!!
Tiggerkeeper- Woo hoo! 65lbs ! Way to go!
mikamah - Welcome to WISH!!

Before today I had not been on the board since 5/06. That was too long.
As I am working to get myself back in shape I thought about the board.
I remember when there were minute challenges and daily exercise challenges and decided it was time to come back.
I'm glad to see others are coming back.
I successfully used this board as I got ready for the Disney 1/2 marathon in 2005. I need to use it again to get ready for the ING marathon in Atlanta in March. I'm doing the 1/2.
I look forward to getting back on the board.
Good luck everyone.

Hi guys!
I haven't been around the WISH boards for a long time. I started back in 2003 and lost 50 pounds with WISH. Then after our 2005 1/2 marathon, I really let things slide. I've gained back most of my weight. Come January, I have to get back on track. It's so good to see some of the old gang. I have to agree with Molli - I loved it when we had our weekly check-in threads and everyone was so excited about changing their clippie.

I can understand what you are talking about even though I haven't been here that long. I started a thread back in February to help encourage people with their weight loss or healthy adventure. Just by the hits it gets, it gets really confusing. Somedays it is really busy and others, we may not have a post for days. I try to be optimistic and blame it on the fact that everyone is really busy with their daily lives and their exercise. That helps me to not get discouraged just because someone didn't post that day.

I have lost quite a bit, have 22.5lbs to go to reach my 100lb goal, and then have another 22.5 to go to make it to my goal weight. I can't believe how much better I feel now than I did a year ago.
Does anyone remember the WISH Christmas exchange we did a few years back? SnackyStacky was my exchange buddy. I see he got married and he and his wife had a baby in the last year or so.
How did everyone do over Christmas? I got some new clothes, so I didn't dare overeat..had to be able to fit into them! :)

I've noticed a slow down too.
I'm not overly well known here but I have posted off and on for a couple to three years now. I just never stick with it. This time has to be the one that sticks. DH and I have been starting already before Jan 1st. :) We have exercised the last 3 nights. WOOHOO!!! :cool1: I've finally started journaling again and use sparkpeople.com. I know I can do this as I've done it before but it takes work and patience.
I recently quit biting my nails and I'd think if I have the willpower for that I could lose the weight and stay on track with eating and exercise. :) Especially since some researchers have said that to stop biting your nails is as hard as someone that is giving up "drugs" :scared: But I did stop biting them and haven't bit them in over a month. NOW to transfer this willpower and dedication to exercise and eating good and journaling so I can tell where I'm at with calories.
I hope it gets speedy again here with the new year and I'm sure it will as the newly commited/recommited folks come back.

I know exactly what you mean ::yes:: I was an original as well or pretty close to it. I LOVED the weekly weigh in thread and Katholyn coming by to give us all encouragement on that thread. It was such a big deal then to get clippies and report your loss or gain. I think the boards used to be more inclusive then honestly. Now if you aren't WW, South Beach or Biggest Loser seems there's no place for you to go. :( I still check in but rarely post anymore as the threads get little response and it moves so slow now. I know WISH always has a big upswing after the first of January maybe that will help. I know I tried to start the weekly weigh in several times a couple of years ago and it never stuck. I have gained all my weight back so I could use WISH again honestly. ::yes::

Another MIA member returning to the fold!
I can't even tell you when I last checked in with WISH. I had to ditch all my weight loss clippies when the losses turned into gains, and I just sort of disappeared. My dad died suddenly a little over a year ago, and life got crazy, and weight-loss slipped the priority list.
I have to make it a priority again. I'm finding myself with a way limited wardrobe since I had gotten rid of most of my "big clothes" since I was never going back there. Have had to do some clearance shopping so I can still work for a living without showing up in sweatpants.
My DS is now 4 going on 5 and will start school next fall. I had lost my "baby weight" after having him, and it is pretty much all back on plus some.
He is super active, and I need to be able to keep up. Life is busy, and sometimes that is not to my food program advantage since we eat "on the fly" and not thinking about food content.
I'm obviously not a heavy poster, but have a laptop now since I also work at home in addition to a downtown office job, so am online more than I used to be. I will try to be around. I don't know how WISH has been lately, but I remember the WISH that was, and will help reinvigorate it if I can at all.
Glad to be back among friends! I'll pick up my member clip art after I hit the scale -probably tomorrow. 1/1/07 - here we come!

I'm new last year, but I'm still here...just a little disappointed in myself after the holidays. I'm truly frightened of the scales, but starting tomorrow (my birthday!) I'm back on the wagon. I'll sign on to the exercise thread, and possibly the lose 5 thread, depending on how I feel. I still have to hit WW goal, and still have quite a ways to go, but need to get back the "one week at a time" mentality. Love you guys for all the support I get here!

Hi Erin,
