hi: i'm not sure if i understand you correctly. we flew into orlando earlier this month from newark, nj. i had a regular carryon in addition to my purse. my dh had a briefcase and a camera bag. the 3 boys each had a backpack. you can check your airline's website to see what each will allow. we flew on continental.

Leaving for the airport in 6.5 hrs!! Flying Delta
I have a waist fanny pack and my DVC backpack.
I also have a smaller carryon bag which Im not sure they'll let me carry on. I may need to check it in because I also have my backpack. I think we're only allowed 1 carryon.
But when I checkin my large suitcase I'll just ask. The skycap may be able to tell me.

Delta allows one carryon plus one personal bag, which may be a purse or briefcase.
Delta's website says the carryon should not exceed approx. -length 22" + height 14" + width 9". Weight not to exceed 40 lbs. They do not normally check.
They may stop you if you have more than the two items.

What I do is put my fanny pack in with my carryon. If needed this gives me the ability to take an additional smaller (personal size bag) if I need to.

A purse is a personal item according to the airlines or a diaper bag, not a back pack. That would be your 1 carry-on item.
NO DVC backpack here:( ............ We bought our BWV points via resale.....

USAir includes backpacks in their definition of a personal item. I put my laptop into my carryon bag so that I could take my purse, laptop & carryon.
I had my first post 9-11 flying experience today. Had my laptop dusted for explosives at security and then got random checked at the gate, had to start it up, plus bags searched & wanded.
It was strange on the plane to see most of the overheads empty! Before everyone was cramming stuff in there.
The whole experience today was sobering. Seeing the National Guard with their guns really hit me. I wasn't nervous about flying before today, but by the time I got on the plane I was really nervous after going through all the security. Kind of brought everything about 9-11 back into my mind.

We didn't get a backpack...only a white and blue canvas DVC bag which we have nearly worn out carrying to the parks!

I think the backpack is for sale now for $40-- the website appears to be down so I couldn't check again. It's one of the few things that are now being marketed to DVCers.
Barb is gone and hopefully having a great time but Delta said one carry on plus a purse, briefcase or laptop. I suspect that a belt bag would substitute but you never know.
