Hi folks:
It looks like we have pretty firm dates for DISCon 2.....
As of right now, they will Dec 4-8, 2002. We're working on the registration engine for this (which will be MUCH better then the previous one), and I hope to start pre-registration early next week for those who want room inclusive packages. It will be a little while before we know exactly what the events portion will be (and what it will cost), but folks will be able to reserve thier hotel rooms right away.
Thanks,
Pete

SPECIAL NOTE to all the DISers wanting to go to the 2002 DIS-CON-II. Please notice the date that Pete Werner posted this. It was actually during 2001 DIS-CON-I. But so many of you were asking for dates that I edited my old post to let you see this. Did you know that the dates are also listed on the same front page of the board's forums that you click-on to enter the DIS-CON-II site. It's sort of right under our nose...hahaha. Believe me, when the dates, registration and itineraries are confirmed we will all be shouting the information eveywhere. I learned to be patient last year while waiting for the events only to reopen again...NOT...lol...hahaha.
I was so excited last year that I posted the message below while at the 2001 DIS-CON-1.
For other old and tenative information just click on the links above my clip-art.
Most sincerely, RaySharpton :)
Sign me up Pete!!! Where do I send my check?
Can I sign up for 2003 and 2004 and 2005 and 2006 and 2007 and 2008 and 2009....?

OMG Pete that is so awesome!!!! Yeehaw!!!

Woo hoo! I'm starting into my planning mode already! Now if I can just convince DH that we can afford this trip in addition to the two other non-WDW trips we already have planned for next year..........
Shouldn't be too hard! He's just as addicted as I am, LOL!!!!

Hi everyone:
We are meeting with Disney tomorrow to have a discussion about some of the details about next years event. What we will be doing in the next few days is opening up "pre-registration", so folks can reserve their space. We'll be taking deposits for rooms and events seperately this time (we're not packaging everything together like we did this year). I can tell you that the rates we've negotiated are $195 per night at the Yacht/Beach and $69 per night at the All Stars. The Yacht/Beach reservations are going to include some special "surprises" that we'll announce in a few weeks. We have a good idea already about what events we want to include in the next one, but I want to do some formal surveys of those who attended this year, and find out what everyone would like to see. So, rest assured that we'll have info on the site in the next few days for DISCON 2002!!
Thanks!
Pete

I told Linda the other day "What's up with you and this 7AM stuff". Trust me, there won't be any 7AM events next year :)

You mean I might actually get to go n 2002?? Woo hoo!!!!!
It'll take a lot of talking for me to be at DIS CON 2002 because of where I work (I work in retail, so getting time off at that time of year is very hard), but I'll try my best to be there again! DIS CON this year was great, so I'm looking forward to DIS CON 2002! :)

Boo Hoo! We already have a trip to Disneyland scheduled for that same week.
Hmmm........I have to see if I can move vacation dates so that I can get both in. Disneyland one week and then DISCON the next...sounds like a plan to me!

Sounds like you guys had sooo much fun this year at DISCON. I'm going to have to try real hard to make it next year. This might sound silly, but how soon do the rooms fill up?

You can count me in again. I am going to work and put in for it now. This time I want to stay at the Yacht Club.

I will either stay at the All-Stars again or the Swan. I may just find a cheap $25 Priceline room. At this year's convention, I was hardly in my room anyway. I was just a place to shower and sleep.

One thing that might be cool to consider would be a pin for the convention? You can see where my head is. HEHE

I'm glad I had DH and kids with me to meet everyone and experience DIS Con, but next time, 'Mama's leavin' on a jet plane' solo. What's that saying? "When the cat's away the mice will play". This mouse wants to stay out and play with the other mice next time:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earseek:

I just have to jump in here and say, that as much as I missed my family...I am sooooooooo glad that I went solo. I think we might add on days before or after for the family.....but during DIS-Con II, I'll be SOLO again! :D :p :D :p
For those going solo, does anyone share rooms? I would love to go and stay at the Yacht Club, but the room price is a little high. Are there arrangements to room with other solos? Or, is it one room per person? I am not the kind of person who likes being alone, but DH really doesn't want to go to Discon II. He's a very solitary person. So, I thought if I could room with others, it might be more fun.

I too think thats a great idea! I really want to go but my DH doesnt, also its a long way for me to go and then be on my own, not that you can call a gathering of friends alone, but im sure you know what i mean.
I never travelled alone before, so if i couls share a room with someone that would make me feel a little more at home also.
Anyone else?

If I understand correctly, there were some solo travelers that shared rooms at this year's DIScon. I decided to go so late that I ended up in a room by myself.
As far as going solo, I too missed my family and even shed a few tears, but I think that I had a much better time not having to worry about keeping my family happy while I was partying with my DIS friends. Since my kids will be in school during DIScon II, I don't think that I will be able to bring them. I would love to have DW Sue along for the party, but we'll have to wait and see.
I haven't yet approached DH with the possiblity of me going "solo", but if I do, I definately would want to room with someone, so keep me in mind when your looking for a roommate, PixiePower!!!

Kelli,
Im in the same situation as you (again:D ) My DH doesnt want to go but cant understand why i would want to go, let alone without him. So im going to 'work' on him over Christmas:D
I will keep you updated as its sounds like it could be a lot of fun to share a room.
Emma
We all talked about sharing rooms, too. But, Dayna and I think we'll still stay solo in our rooms. She gets up in the middle of the night and doesn't want to bother anyone. I just need some down time to rest my voice. That was the ONLY time I wasn't talking, singing, laughing or crying!!!!!!!!!! (well, maybe I was giggling a little when I would think of something we did!) Besides, I snore and hog the bathroom sink with all my goodies! ;) ;) I loved my room and want the SAME room next year! I was at the YC and had a gorgeous view of the Boardwalk!!!!!!!!!!!

I think DH will stay home, but if he comes I hope there will be other non-DIS spouses/S.O.'s who will 'lolligag' with him while I'm out partying Commando-Style!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D LOL :p

Count me in, I wouldn't miss it for the world :)
Penny :)
For those that shared a room, they just made the arrangements themselves and then let the reservation people know that they were sharing a room.
Tia, Dayna's DH is coming along and won't be doing some of the events, so there's company for Ed, if he wants.
My DH can't go anywhere at that time of year and the boys are still in school. So, I'm a solo attendee again for 2002. Besides, they would NEVER do the late night, early morning thingy. No matter how much fun it was. ;)

You can absolutely count me in. Rooming with TLK worked out well, though I worried that I may have kept him up some nights with snoring or whatever. Anyway, I'll be there. So, where do we sign up? :D

I have a feeling there will be a lot of people wanting to register for Dis-Con II - cuz we made it sound like so much fun! Personally, I hope the Dis-Con attendees get first crack at registration for next year's convention.
There was a brief timeframe (about 3 weeks) when I wasn't going to do the events package. I'm SO glad I came to my senses and was able to be part of the official convention after all! Next year will be even better, because I won't have to divide my time between my family and my friends. :D

I'm hoping I can afford to go to the next one, I'm already dropping hints to DH that i want to go. My 3 DD's are upset that I won't be taking them, but they went once without me, so this is my pay back time. DH would never go to this...he actually enjoyed the last trip we took and wants to go back, but he would not enjoy all the schedules and having to do whatever I wanted.

Well, Count me in too! I couldn't make it to this year's event - but I am bound and determined to go to DIS CON 2! I am going to make this trip a solo one - so I can immerse in DIS stuff and not worry if my DH or DD are bored or confused!!! :)
but I'm so glad I went alone for the convention. I would have had major guilt trips about leaving them to do convention stuff or dragging them along to the events. We really fly by the seat of our pants when we "do Disney" and this would have been way too structured for them. I didn't mind the scheduling at all-it allowed us to do so many wonderful things! :D Can't wait for DIS-Con 2!!!!!!! :)

Since I normally do Disney solo, this was a great mix for me.
Next time, I plan to come without the sinus infection that knocked me out the first day or so and I will do my day with Dad either before or after DISCON! (Probably before since I was exhausted after and I did not even Party all night like some people. However, I plan to party next year. I will just have to start training!)

I will want to stay at an All Stars, as I am cheap, and will not be in the room that much, right?? Thanks! Email me at: Pennie258@aol.com! I check my Email EVERYDAY!:D

My parents will be with us but we'll be there from the 30th of Nov. on so I'm sure I can join in on some of the fun. Actually with my parents there I can probably join in more...and maybe Dave too. The kids can hang with the grandparents!
Can't wait to get more information...sorry to have missed this year!
Just bumping up the official notification of the 2002 dates!!!
