Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from non-running beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

Just a quickie...I'm off all next week so I'll try to keep up better then.

12 miles today in 2:41:36 (13:28 pace). Did great the first hour with R4/W1 around a 12 mpm pace, but then had to turn it down to R3/W2. Absolutely hit the wall at mile 10. Only 8 min faster than last year's 12 mile LR.

I'm thinking I may not be ready for the full next year. I really want to be able to do a clean half where I can maintain my intervals the whole time. This year was pretty hectic...not sure I'd even have the time to devote to full training next year. Anyway, I'm going to wait til after the Sarasota half before I decide...see how I do.

Bill...There's a hotel within walking distance of the Sarasota half start/finish. It's across from the airport. I think it's a Courtyard by Marriott (address would be University Pkwy). If you need more info, let me know.

Podiatrist at 8am Monday!

Let the Taper Madness begin :dancer:

I just posted this at the tail end of last week's thread & saw there is a new thread - so here is my re-post!

Cam - you did awesome! And I love it - "only 15!" Don't you worry chickie - I am going to sit my butt on the Boardwalk a few Sunday mornings from now until you come by! :teeth:

Christa - I am with Cam. You are amazing: stressful job, 2 kids, running crazy mileage, cross training like crazy, singing & acting, and you are gorgeous. Ok, I hate you! ;)

So, I thought I was going to get out of my long walk/run of 10 miles this weekend since Chad is working crazy hours. But Mom called and said I had to go with her, and that Dad would watch Zack. So there goes me getting out of it!

So, we set out for 10. Before mile 9 Mom was dying. She has fibromyalgia and her feet were killing her. Since we were almost back to her house, she dropped off somewhere around 9 and I kept going up & down her street until I finished the whole 10. We didn't have stellar times or anything, but getting the steps in was the important part.
13:17
13:53
41:07 (miles 3-5)
13:11
14:20 (huh?)
13:45
14:32 (this is where I had to wait for mom a bit)
12:26 (see what happens when I ditch Mom? )
2:16:36

So, by my calculations I could beat a 3 hour half.
I just can't stop 500 times to take pictures!
Or get caught up talking WISHers' ears off! (right Cam? ;) )

What's that saying about a bad 20 miler means a good marathon? If that's true, my marathon is going to rock. I had the WORST 20 mile lr today. Stephen and I planned on doing the first 11 together and then I was going to do the last 9 by myself. The first 8.5 miles were awesome, we were doing r4/w1 and keeping about a 11:20ish-11:30ish pace, my legs felt great, the weather couldn't have been better, and I wasn't tired at all. Then out of completely no where my IT band started throbbing without any warning, it hurt so bad that it brought tears to my eyes. I kept runnng until 9 miles and then I had to stop running, Stephen kept on going since he only had 2 more miles to go. I decided I would start doing r2/w2 for the last 11 miles. I was able to run for about a minute and a half before my IT band started throbbing again. When I hit 10 miles, I decided to just walk the last 10 miles. My IT band stopped hurting once I started walking, but the last 6 or so miles were pretty painful because the lactic acid started building up in my quads. So I did my 20 miles in 4:18. I have to say I'm very disappointed and upset with today's run, I was really looking forward to a clean lr and that didn't happen. So even though it's taper time, I feel like I can't celebrate with everyone. The plan is to take off a couple of days and cross train on the ellipitical machine this week. And after that, I guess I'll take it one day at a time. I am praying so hard that my IT band can heal itself over the next 3 weeks.

Cam-- :grouphug: :grouphug: I truly, truly know how you are feeling today. I know you are going to be just fine for the marathon.

Dave--Awesome run today! Great job!

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

I'm just checking in to see how everyone's final LRs are going.

Mel/Chimera- You are set for the 1/2M. Wow, you did 12 miles for your last LR before the half? WTG!!! That's awesome! Enjoy the moment and live in the present. I can't believe your already thinking/debating/questioning about what you're going to do next year when you should be celebrating the fact you've gotten this far in your training for this year. You're set girl!!! Enjoy your taper, and start thinking about your plans next year on January 7th.

Kristi- Good job on your LR too. That's great that you can support your Mom out there. What a great, healthy, fit WISH team you have there.

Krista- Sorry you didn't have a better LR. Believe me, I know how that feels. I hope your ITB heals up fast. Soak in a tub, and try not to worry too much. Remember what I said to Cam, I had a horrible 20 miler 2 weeks ago. My knee was stiffening up on me, and I couldn't run the last 5 miles. But, lo and behold, this week I had a great 20 miler. Rest up, heal up, and take what the day gives you on January 7th. BTW: It's you and me against Christa today, right? ;) Go STEELERS, beat the Panthers. That's a way for you to heal up. Get some ice packs and watch the Steeler game.

Kevin- Just wanted to send another shout out to your Lakers. WTG! You must be absolutely exhausted. I hope you can get some time to focus on your training, life, etc. now that the football season is over.

OK, keep those LR reports coming. I want to know how everyone else did out there. Go TEAM!!!

So I looked up my splits for my stonker 20 miler on 12/2 compared to my 20 miler yesterday. Look at the difference for the last 5 miles. I thought this was really telling about how I felt at the end.

Mile: 12/2 12/16
15 12:46 10:47
16 12:22 11:58 Ate GU
17 14:41 10:49
18 14:23 11:12
19 12:28 10:50
20 12:02 10:15

Again, I'm just posting this to try to help the people who are having stonker LRs this weekend. We'll all be OK with some rest and recovery (oh yeah, and not eating dinner at Chuck E Cheese's the night before).

Well, I pooped out on my 10k yesterday. I drove all the way there, stood in line to get my package, it was freezing & windy and just blah. I have been fighting a sore throat for awhile, so I said forget it...I'll walk another day. I feel bad, but I can't afford to become really ill. I think I'll wait til the spring to do another marathon here, it's just too cold for me.

Hi Everyone,

Wasn't online much last week (just here and there). For the most part I took an easy for the past week.

Last Monday I went for a cortisone shot in my knee and it was suggested not to do anything for at least three days (hard core exercise of course). Thursday I did have a trainer session and we worked out my core pretty hard.

For this week -- I will probably hit the illipitical to get my miles done (I want to be as well as I can be for Disney). I also have another trainer session this coming Thursday.....I can't get over how helpful my trainer is compared to that darn physical therapist I was working with.

So is everyone ready for the holidays? Thank god my shopping is all set! I can't wait to get to Disney, can't believe how fast it's coming up.

Well - just really wanted to check in with all of you and let you know that I'm still around, it's just been really busy at work lately (the last thing I want to do when I get home is get back on a computer). :sad2:

This week -- is supposed to be a quiet week, so I should be able to check in more.

jodistar
12-17-2006, 08:50 AM
Oh no - - I didn't realize we were supposed to do another 20 miler!! I would have never done the cortisone last week if I did.....I've only done 1. I just hope I make through everything okay.

I mean -- I'm not going for a personal best but to finish! I'm so bummed this tendonitis thing happened :guilty:

Good Morning Everyone-

Ok so NOW has everyone joined me on the taper??? I get a 4 week taper instead of three. So I only ran 10 yesterday. :)

Colleen - Where did I read that they measure marathon courses by the shortest possible distances? This means they cut the corners as close as they can. Therefore, in a marathon, only the Kenyans actually get to run 26.2, they rest of us add slight mileage at every turn where we aren't hugging the curve.

Dana -Wow, your family takes the cake in sickness this week! Take care of yourself, which is hard with so many sick family members!

Krista - WOw, I can't believe you were able to run through that kind of pain! Be sure to ice and rest!

Dave - Thanks for the heads up that Chuck E Cheese is not a good prerace meal!

As I said, I ony ran 10 yesterday, but mentally it was a little harder than my 20 milers. I think because I am so tired. Between the training fatigue, chistmas shopping fatigue, and the cold that is trying to become full blown, I am just completely shot. If I sit down, I fall asleep almost immediately!

THREE WEEKs FROM TODAY I WILL BE RUNNING AT DISNEY!!!

I'll add my splits to this post later, but yes, I did finish up my "20ish" LR from my squaron on base to my house, turned out to be about 19.75. The first 12 miles or so were on mostly a gravel path next to a highway, but that alternated with driveways, and a lot of it was lopsided due to the crown of the road, so although I plowed through the first dozen miles ok, it probably cost me later. Between 12-15 I was excited because when I did the 16 miler a few weeks ago, by 10 I was fatigued and that set of miles I was having to stop multiple times per mile. Today apparently I pushed the wall back to 15. Strangely enough fatigue for me isn't a gradual thing, I just eventually reach the point where I run out of gas and within a hundred yards or so I go from fine to a lot tightness in the calves and soreness on the back of my knees, and transition into the "marathon shuffle" for the remainder of the run. I was doing 8 ounces of powerade every 2 miles (20 min) and added half a snickers marathon bar at both 10 and 12 miles, but the wall still reared its ugly head. I struggled through the last 5 miles, which put me at a distance further than I'd ever run in my life, but I'm still apprehensive about trying to tack on 6 more.

Maybe since two weeks ago 10 was the wall and this time 15 was the wall, in another two weeks it'll be 20? And after an easier taper week or two maybe even a little further? It just leads me to doubt that I'll be able to complete the whole marathon without walking other than water stops which was my original plan, and although when I was running I was under the 4:22:00 goal time, the walking late in the run drove up those splits a bit and I'm not sure how realistic that will actually be. But anyway, final long run complete and I guess I'm supposed to be thankful just for finishing my first 20 miler ever rather than worrying about times. :rotfl2:

Good Day WISH Team!

Sorry to those who reported stonkers. Don't let it get you down. It will be much better on THE Day! Let the planning begin!

Get well to everyone in need. Sorry about the sickies being reported. Stay well to those that are!

Monica, sorry about the decision to not step off. It will be better in the spring.

Mel, don't think that way about the full for next year. You'll get it. As Dave said too, get this one done first. Enjoy it no matter what you face.

Cecilia, Yes, it's Taper Time! We're with ya.

I made a decision today to Not do my last B2B LR of 20. ITB is aching and I'm not wanting to risk further detriment. So, I did well with my 10 miler yesterday, I did have ITB pain and made sure to stretch and do all the things I've learned here and the things the group here have advised. I'll be going Goofy with a bit less training this year than last, but I'll also be going Goofy with a base of a few years work. I'm hoping it will be ok since I've got this persnickity knee thing going right now. I'm going to get me to the gym to get the rest of the days in before the Big Event and know in my mind that I can do this.

Everyone, remember to get your minds in this too. Don't be down about a bad moment in time. Visualize yourself making it through and over the finish line. Your determination helps your trainig now. We will make it!

See the medal, feel the medal, WEAR! the medal!

Cecillia - every time i've used the garmin on a marathon, my distance always shows up as 26.7 . It's always such a bummer too, b/c i use it to keep pace of my miles. I haven't trained w/ it or used it much this year, so i don't know if i'm going to use it at disney. i may just hit my splits at the mile markers and keep up w/ my pace there. :confused3

well darn! Lost my post, so I will try again.

A 'didn't make it to 20 miles' stonker report from me. Long story short, I only made it to 12 miles yesterday. A burning sensation in the balls of my feet started about mile 9. Yikes! Never had that before. So I slowed down a little around mile 10, but then the thought of another 10 miles at 16 mpm pace just did me in. Made it 2 more miles and called it quits. Somebody has a quote in their siggie that ends with something along the lines that the competition is against the little voice in your mind telling you to quit. Yesterday I listened to that voice. Ugh!! I'm counting on the excitement of being in WDW to get me through the 26.2 miles, because I really, really, really want that Mickey medal.

Krista - So sorry about your LR...You did more than me though!

DH is sick and (I hate to say this) driving me
It is so beautiful here and I am NOT RUNNING>>>>>>>giving my knee 1 more day and will run easy (no really I will) tomorrow. How far should I go...hhmmmm

Hey everyone. I am REALLY tired today and so glad the taper is begining. All this training and Holiday madness is just wearing me OUT!!!! I did my LR of 11 miles yesterday on the indoor track... 132 laps. I woke up and it was cold, windy and misting, so I was not going outside. My average was about 12:45ish, which is faster than my 10 mile long run average. I was VERY pleased with that, even tho I felt like dying on that last mile. My MP3 player died at 4 miles so I chucked it aside and talked to myself instead!

I have been running around non-stop the last two days and my legs ache from it. I think I will be taking a salt bath tonight. Today there was a community bowling party at the HUGE bowling center by our house. Does bowling count as cross training?? Yikes, not good to bowl after a long run, but it was fun and I had a free hot dog!!!

Congrats to all the LR completions, stonker or not. It's the fact that you got out that and did your best. We will all succeed!!!

It seems to just get craizier closer to the holidays around here. I think tonight is the next Christmas concert. I have been told we need to leave soon so I will catch up on everyone afterwards.

Lynnda says thanks for the well wishes. She is feeling a little better but is now coughing. She goes to the doctor Tuesday so hopefully something will be fixed then.

I did get out for a run yesterday. It was supposed to be 20-24 but wound up being 16. Around mile 11, I thought I had a rock in my shoe but after a few stops I couldn't find anything. Then a little while later, I discovered it was the sock. So the last time I stopped, the sock tore and was causing even more problems. So I stopped and walked to a store and called Lynnda so she could pick me up. Afterwards I found that I had a nice blister forming so that was some of the problems. However, I felt great when I stopped and could even feel like I could go another 10 miles. I had a pace of 12:00 so I was on my marathon target. Now to figure out what sock combination I need to use for the Goofy.

Good afternoon WISHers!

9 miles scheduled, 9 miles completed.

It was a good run. I have a 10 miler scheduled for next Sunday and I feel that should put me where I need to be for the 1/2.

Good training everyone!

Hi Everyone,

I ended up doing my miles on the ellipitical/stationary bike today:

8 miles on the ellipitical and 13 miles on the bike. I am going to try and run too this week and see how it feels, my next scheduled run is Wednesday night --- tomorrow is cross-training (BOSU ball).

Thursday, I will be going to one of my last personal training sessions for this year at least.

I've been working a lot on stregthening the muscles around my knee with my trainer and have had her show me some that I can do home. Hopefully, everything will be good and strong for me during the Goofy Challenge.

I'm debating on doing a 5k on New Years but haven't committed yet.

Let the taper begin - yay!!

I finished my 20 mile LR just an hour or so ago. Then a nice cold bath and then a warm shower - ahhhhh! It wasn't a stellar run but far from a stonker. I felt really strong for the first 15 and then started fading but I kept going and finished my 20. My pace was a bit slower than I had hoped for but given the conditions today I was not surprised - it was nearly 80 degrees with bright sunshine. I was SO HOT from the first mile - I actually ended up with tan lines if you can believe it. Compared to last week's 18 miler in sub-40 degree weather with cold rain and wind it was an improvement though :rotfl2: At this point I have trained in the cold, the rain, and the heat - hopefully this will cover all possible situations at WDW!

I did end up with some pretty nasty blisters on each foot - I have been trying the vasline/sock/vaseline thing but I apparently need more than that so will try the tape etc. next week for my 10 miler and see if it helps.

I can't believe that in only 3 weeks we'll be just a few hours from our Illuminations Dessert Party. It has been such fun putting it together and I am so looking forward to sharing the special night with my wonderful WISH friends!

For those who can't find a Target WISH ornament, let me know. I picked up a couple of extras for this very reason and may even be able to find a couple more if necessary. They are so cute and only cost $3. So, let me know if you need one and I can either mail it to you now or bring it in January.

Best wishes to you all - healing for those who need it and pixie dust to those with LRs still to do!!

Matt - WTG on your long run! I found that I got stronger every time I repeated a distance. You'll be fine for the marathon.

Jen - OUCH! Bowling after a long run sounds very very painful.

Vic - WTG on your long run!

I just found out my roommate for Disney is running the half, so I will definately be there to cheer everyone on!

Dh just bought me a new watch for Christmas. Shhh. its a secret! I can't wait to play with it! I had to close my eyes while he tried it on my wrist since its a man's watch (easier to read while running)

Take care all!

Finals finished up on Friday afternoon. I went out to train on Saturday morning. Here is what I accomplished:

Mile 1: 7:16
Mile 2: 7:27
Mile 3: 12.11
Mile 4: 12:37
Mile 5: 12:06
Mile 6: 10:07
Mile 7: 10:04
Mile 8: 12:42
Mile 9: 14:04 (mostly walking)
Mile 10: 17:39 (walking)

I am hoping to get in a few miles tomorrow morning, early. I have work and I am donating blood early in the day. That will keep me from running for a while.

Thank you Lilly, Craig and Melissa who wrote to me with advise and support. I will see you all at the starting line soon.

All the best,

Is anyone else just completely excited that we're this close??

Monica--so sorry about the 10K. You're smart to not risk getting sick, there will always be other races later.

Dave--20 strong miles. Nice job! It's a great confidence booster, huh?

Matt-WTG on the 20. I agree with everyone else, you'll be fine on Jan 7. Don't worry so much about the time goal. It's your first one, so it'd be a shame to belittle the accomplishment if you miss your goal time by 2 or 3 minutes.

Christa--sorry about the Panthers today. Actually, I'm not sorry at all. GO STEELERS! :)

Bill--oh, the dreaded sock problems. I feel your pain. Now you're going to give me yet one more thing to worry about for race day.

Vic--nice job on the 9. I can't believe you're already back to full-swing training after your ankle issue. Way to go!

Rhonda--80 degrees?? Wow, you should be good to go in three weeks no matter what the weather is like. I'm just picturing you out there running through the Sahara desert with the sand blowing and the sun beating down. :)

Well, I did it. Finished my final long back to back runs. I did 11 yesterday and 22 today. Finished the 22 miles in 3:43. Not my best time, but I'll take it. I started feeling really tired around mile 18, not hitting the wall, but just a general feeling of fatigue. I hadn't felt that since last year's marathon. As soon as the fatigue set in, I was thinking, "Oh yeah, hey there. I remember you. You're not so tough. I can beat this." (yeah, the mind was playing the crazy games  ) I'm not sure why it hit today and not on my 20 miler two weeks ago. I'm thinking the accumulation of overall weekly miles probably has something to do with it. But anyway, I'm finished, and it was a pretty good run to end with.
Krista already told you about her IT band issues. I felt really bad for her on Saturday when we were running together and she had to stop and walk the rest. I know she'll be fine in three weeks, and I keep trying to tell her that. Three weeks to rest the body is a good, long time.

Well, I'm off to watch my fantasy football team get killed in tonight's game. Good job on the LRs everyone, and to all those needing rest and nursing injuries--we're behind you all the way.

Total drive by...

It's official. I have the flu. I had a rapid flu culture done friday. I've had a fever for 4 days (not straight, it peaks, breaks and buids). It's been as high as 103.2 :furious: The dr who saw me on Friday said my lungs sounded fine...

Well they're not. I'm coughing to the point of cracking a rib and coughing up horrible brown stuff. Sorry for TMI. I just can't believe I'm this sick AGAIN. There's been no training, no Christmas preparations and there's no way I can give the talk I'm supposed to give on Tuesday. I'll call tomorrow and probably go to the dr again to check if this is an infection. I'm sure it is. Once again Goofy's on the chopping block. :sad2: I can't imagine walking across a parking lot righ tnow.

I'm not sure if this was discussed before, so here goes...

Is anyone else doing the 5k on Friday? Chad & I are doing that also. He's absolutely  and going for what he calls his "trifecta" - 5k, Half & Full. Just wondering if I should be looking for any WISHers that morning.

Zack is doing the kids race on Friday (3 y.o. boys) too.
I know Jen said she'd be there with her kiddos. Anyone else?

Oh Sunny!

Get thee to the doc asap tomorrow, ok? Race or no race, you need those lungs to work! ;) Keep us posted, ok?

AND, the races are just under 3 weeks away. You can get better & do the races. You can hang with us cool penguins in the back of the pack if you absolutely have to, ok? And if you cannot race, you cannot race - your health is the most important thing. Disney will be there in 2008, 2009...

HANG IN THERE!!!

Now to catch up from yesterday.

Mel – 8 minutes faster is almost a minute per mile faster which is great. You would do great for the full especially with all the training that you have already done. I saw that the Courtyard looked close to the start but wasn’t sure if it was actually in a walkable spot. We will probably be staying there when we come over.

Kristi – Congrats on being able to get your run in. If you stop 500 times to take pictures, that would be about 38 pictures a mile. You could scale back to 25/mile just to be safe. 

Krista – Sorry about the run. I agree to take it easy and not try to worsen things before the marathon.

Dave – Good job on your long run and improving your times.

Jodi – Hope the shot helps out. Good luck with training this week.

Cecilia – Congratulations on getting your run in. Sometimes the shorter runs can be harder since you already know that you can do it and it almost seems like a waste.

Matt – Good job on the run. Glad the wall was pushed back for the run. With all the excitement at the actual race, you should be able to do fine.

Lily – You should be fine with Goofy this year. You actually know what is involved for the whole race from doing it last year. Each year should get easier for doing it.

Pat – Sorry to hear about the run but with all the training so far, you should be fine for the actual marathon.

Christa – Hope the recovery goes well. Make sure that DH doesn’t get you sick now.

Jen – 132 laps, wow, I would either lose count or get too dizzy to go on.

Vic – Congrats on the good run and being on your training pace.

Rhonda – Good job on the run. Hope the blisters heal quickly.

Howard – Congrats on the training and for finally being done for the semester. Hopefully they will be a little easier next year.

Steve – Congrats on your back to back run. You are in good shape for the Goofy now. Yep I think I am going to figure a way to carry an extra pair during the race just in case.

Sunny – Sorry to hear you are sick. Hopefully you can get over it by race time. Lisa may have hints on how to do the race while sick.

Bill

Hi guys! No training for me this weekend. I took my DDs to the Nutcracker Ballet and shopping for Christmas presents for each other. I wrapped about 40 presents today and still have way too many to go. I will try to get in some short runs this week and a LR on Sunday. I had a nightmare last night about the marathon. In my nightmare, my DH and about 20 other marathoners were put on a small track and we had to run our 26.2 miles around the small track. I gave up after a few miles. There was no way I could run around that track for 26.2 miles! The good news for my fellow WISHers Pat, Carrie, Lily, Terri, and TiffJ is that in my dream you all finished and had medals! Terri & Lily- no worries, you both got the Goofy. :thumbsup2

Sunny- Sending lots of PD :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: that you get better soon. No pneumonia! No pneumonia! :wizard: :wizard:

Kristi- This is from last week, but I love the autographed hat! When I saw the photos I cheered. :cheer2: Plus I was glad that we did not have to use the "bail fund."

Judy- Prayers and PD :wizard: as you and Mist go through trying times this week.

Lily- I think it's time for the cheer again! :cheer2:

Gotta go read some bedtime stories. DDs want me to add the dancing banana before I sign off.   Catch up more tomorrow.

OH.....Panthers SUCK...I am so mad at them...did they even show up at the game today? They have really dropped the ball (HeHe) this year! SO GO STEELERS! :confused3

Bill I am so mean...I will only let him sit in one chair and I won't even touch him...I am even sleeping with DD8 tonight. :rolleyes1

Question:
Is making cookies from scratch then eating most of the RAW COOKIE DOUGH xtraining.....
I did clean my bike chain and pump up my bike wheels....that was a work out today....stupid me pinched my leg on the pump while pumping up the wheels. :confused3 How does that happen? I have a nice raised bump that is blue b/c of it too.
Danced in a show today and the knee is fine. My legs are sore though...I cannot figure out why b/c I have done NOTHING!

Congrats to everybody for their LR's this weekend. Great job!
I can't believe we're only 3 weeks away.

Sunny - So sorry to hear you've got the flu. Rest and let it get out of your system. You still have time. And if you're not well enough, there's always next year. The important thing is to get you feeling better ASAP!

I have a question for those of you who also train on the elliptical machine. How do the miles equate to running? I don't think they're equal, but does does anyone have an idea of a comparison (i.e. 3 miles on the ellip=2 miles running?)

Is anyone eating at Tony's in MK on Saturday of race weekend?

Just wanted to mention my splits from the 20 miler in case anyone is in my ballpark and might be looking for me marathon morning at a certain speed... Even numbered miles are longer because I let the clock run while I walked and took 8oz of gatorade and later on chowed down a snickers marathon bar. Later miles are longer because well, I was slower, and walked a few short stretches. And last split is only .7 so it's faster.

9:15, 9:45, 9:24, 9:52, 10:03, 10:22, 10:05, 10:34, 10:21, 10:35, 10:12, 10:25, 10:36, 10:12, 10:45, 10:34, 10:50, 11:17, 11:59, 7:37

Avg was 10:23mpm. Well over my 10mpm goal, but in a half marathon last week I avg'd 8:54, so I'm hoping in a race atmosphere I'll be able to have a lot more miles under or right near the 10 mark and go for that 4:22:00 goal.

There. I'm done. Finished. Thank goodness. Bring on the taper.

I swear, all these LWs during Christmastime have put me VERY far behind in my holiday chores. I won't bore you with the details, but I'm talking really, really far behind. I'm kinda resenting my training, but at least the hard part is over now.

Anyway, Saturday was 14.1 mile LW for me. Nothing remarkable about my time (3:05, 13:06 pace). But, it was a new route and I completely underestimated the distance (turned out to be 16 instead of 14). So I had a 2 mile cool down. :guilty:

I would have kept going at my race pace for the whole distance, but my knee felt funny. Never before in my life have I had knee "trouble," so this was weird for me. It just felt like I needed to get my right knee to "click." If I could just "click" or "crack" my knee I'd feel great. But I never did, so I was glad to stop at 14.1. :confused3

Good luck to everyone this week. Keep well.

Sunny--sorry to hear about the flu! :grouphug: Hope you get better soon!

I'm now realizing that my stonker on Sat. may have had a lot to do with me catching whatever the kids had last week. I spent Sat. night and most of yesterday on the couch. I feel tons better this morning, so we'll see if I get my 3 miler in today or not. I have to tweak my schedule a little this week, as we leave for the IL's on Thursday morning. Going to try to do my LR on wed. since DH is only working a 1/2 day. We'll see! Have a great Monday all!

Hi Team,

Total opinion question here. As you all know I've been having some soreness in my knee. Well, for the Goofy Challenge I am taking things slow, I will probably be doing a 12 or 13.00 min/mil with walking breaks and photos breaks here and there.

But --

The friend that is supposed to be running Goofy with me, had surgery right before Thanksgiving always told me that she would be fine for Goofy, well I just found out that she hasn't been completely honest with me. Her surgery was a major reconstructive surgery on her wrist (I didn't know that). Anyhow, she says that she is still going to do the Goofy and just do what she can......should I ask if she wants to back out? I'm not sure if it's me that is making her stay in or if she truly wants to stay in.

I just feel like such an awful friend......I had no idea what kind of surgery she had.....she always made it sound like nothing all that bad.

Krista – I hope your situation improves with the IT band. I feel your pain with the leg thing……I was telling my husband the other day that I felt so horrible about the whole knee thing…..I just wanted to do well but I feel like the knee is definitely holding me back. That coupled with being really busy at work was the reason that I hadn’t been on for awhile.

Everyone, remember to get your minds in this too. Don't be down about a bad moment in time. Visualize yourself making it through and over the finish line. Your determination helps your trainig now. We will make it! I really needed to read this.

Jodi – Hope the shot helps out. Good luck with training this week. Thanks Bill!

Sunny – Hope you feel better soon! :wizard:

Good morning everyone. Happy Monday!! I am feeling a little better about my lr fiasco, if I had to walk because I was tired, I think I would have been okay with that, but the fact that I had to walk due to a re-occurring injury upsets me. My biggest fear for the marathon is an injury right before the start and when my IT band started hurting not even half way thru the run, it felt like nightmare coming true. I know I sound over the top and I hate be such a drama princess:, but that's how I felt on Saturday. After thinking about it on Sunday, I feel better about it. I've been icing it and I'm going to rest it until tomorrow, the plan this week is to do the elliptical in place of running and then the bike for cross training. I don't think I'm going to do my lr on Saturday, but I'm going to do the elliptical instead. I'd like to cross train the rest of the taper and not even attempt to run until the marathon. What do you think? Do you think I'll be okay? I don't think I will lose fitness or muscle tone since I'll be cross training, but will not running for 3 weeks be bad on marathon morning?

Sunny-- :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: get better soon!!!

Christa--Thanks for the link, I'm definitely going to check that out. Sorry about the Panthers, well not that sorry!! :teeth: Hope you stay healthy :wizard: and more :wizard: :wizard: for your knee.

Jodi--That stinks about your friend! I hope she is able to come to a decision soon. I'm not sure how equal the elliptical is to running, I'm going to search around and see if I can find an answer. I do know that roughly 5 miles of biking is equal to roughly 1 mile of running.

Kevin - See 2nd comment on your Dec 15 post. ;) :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Another close one, though. Had me pretty worried. Good luck on your run today! Going away for the holidays?

Cam - I didn't think about your cold until yesterday. That's just too much for a person's body. You already did 20. You will be fine!

Krista - :wizard: :wizard: RICE, with a big emphais on teh R. :grouphug: :grouphug:

Heather - I don't trust your dream results, as I know you will be ok!!! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :grouphug:

Sunny - Brown in the lungs is BAD. Must get antibiotics soon!!! :wizard: :grouphug:

Howard - Glad to see you fianlly got some trainign time in! :wizard:

Mel - Only 8 minutes faster????? Sounds great to me.

jodi - Hope that shot works!! BTW, many of us just did one 20-miler. You will be fine!

Sorry, I missed a bunch. No time to take notes today. :guilty:

Well, we did it. No great cheers of joy and it was slower than last year, but we did it. It was still a but cold (boy do I feel like a whimp after wha we ran in last year). Plus brainiac dh decided to start on a road with slope where we have to go on the shoulder, as he did not think the bike path would take us far enough. I should have put a a bigger fight. :guilty:

I was feeling things (not really hurting) at about 2 miles. Did ok, though and when I got back to bike path, things got better. The run seemed to go forever. I am doubting whether I can break 5 hours now, but hoping this taper will help the legs out a lot. Tryong to figure out how to pace myself for the race. DH still thinks we did not burn ourselves out last year, btu we were way fast. he says, "Make hay while the sun shines." While it makes some sense, as we do better when it's cooler, everything says notto start too fast. I think we started slow for our 20-miler last year and I know we felt greeat at the end of that one. Hoefully, that will give me back up to plead my case for a slower start. We'll see. My only bright side is that last year we rocked our 20-miler adn when I got to the 20 mile mark race day, it scared me that I did not feel as good as then. This year, I shouldn't have that problem.

OK, taperville, here we come!! BTW, we are sticking to TMs f SRs to help us stay on the healing path. I don't feel too bad today, so hopefully, that's a good sign.

Hi, everyone! I really appreciate all the encouraging words and am sorry I didn't get back here to post before this.

Sunny -- I am so sorry you have the flu. Take care of yourself and don't even think about the Goofy right now. Just focus on getting yourself healthy. pixiedust:

To everyone who had a stonker run this weekend or just something shorter than they wanted -- sending :goodvibes: and pixiedust: that we can all put it behind us and enjoy the taper.

To everyone who had great runs this weekend -- :woohoo: I must admit, I am particularly proud to know my race partner had a great LR! Go, Rhonda! :thumbsup2 You rock, girl! I had no doubt that nothing could stop you!

I have to say -- Jen, I can't imagine doing that many laps! Amazing! Dave, the improvement since 12/2 is absolutely awesome. That must be so reassuring to you!

I hope all my WISH buddies are enjoying the holiday preparations. I am trying to convince myself that the next week does not represent time I'd rather spend training, but time that I am truly going to enjoy with family and friends. This was a weekend of errands and wrapping presents for us, but I think we are just about done and in pretty good shape. I want to do some baking this week and am preparing a lasagna luncheon for my office for Friday, so that will keep me busy. I am hoping to get lots of sleep, too. Howard and I saw "Pursuit of Happyness" Saturday night -- WOW! Awesome movie!

Right now, I am really fighting this cold and am trying everything -- coldeeze is the latest purchase in the hopes of getting over this. I have so much congestion in my chest that it hurts to take a deep breath. Not sure how this will impact on the pulmonary stress test I have this Wednesday. The bad thing is Howard is suffering this horrendous cold too. We just have to be careful not to share it back and forth, but how can I resist him? Hoping to feel better by the time we go out to celebrate our 22nd anniversary on Friday. (where is that fingers-crossed smilie?)

Now, on to what is really on my mind. Saturday's 15 mile version of the 20 mile LR has taught me alot. In fact, I've obsessed enough about it that I have to have learned something. First of all, I am furious at myself for not pushing for another stinking 5 miles so that I wouldn't have had to face these feelings of failure. It might have been painful, but the knowledge that I couldn't -- or didn't -- push through has been with me every waking moment since then. I alternate between feelings of insecurity resulting from not having done it, and feelings of absolute determination about what is going to happen on January 7. No way am I going to allow myself to be in this position again -- regret, disappointment, etc. UGH! No matter what happens on 1/7, I plan on coming home with a Mickey medal.

All that being said, my right foot hurts badly enough today that I stopped on the way to work and bought an instant ice pack and a regular one that I put in the freezer. I have no idea what this pain is or the cause. It runs along the top inside of my foot from the instep to the ankle and the pain radiates down to the arch. No way would I be able to walk even a mile today if I had to. Whatever that hard "cord" thing is that runs the top of your foot on the arch side seems to be the "center" of the pain. I am going to ice it today and hope to have a pain-free workout tomorrow morning.

Well, I have been working on this post off and on for over an hour with many interruptions. Not sure it makes much sense by now. I hope everyone has a wonderful day and I'll try to get back later. :grouphug:

Good morning Team!

I must start this week by apologizing to Carrie, and everyone else who told me not to do it.

Saturday my L/R went like this:

Mile 1: 14:23
Mile 2: 12:55
Mile 3: 12:04
Mile 4: 11:46
Mile 5: 12:34
Mile 6: 11:47
Mile 7: 14:05
Mile 8: 12:54
Mile 9: 12:41
Mile 10: 14:22
Mile 11: 12:30
Mile 12: 13:16
Mile 13: 12:47

2 hours 49 minutes and 25 seconds!

13.10 miles! (I stopped my Garmin right there!)

Whooo hooo!

I have to say, it felt really really good! :thumbsup2 I know I started off too fast and tried to force myself to slow down. Miles 7 & 10 I made myself walk, but even then after a while started back up to a slow jog.

I also have to say...my knee did not hurt at all! :woohoo:

And now...for the bad news....

And where's Carrie to say "I told you so".

Although I'm not exactly sure when this happened, but my left ankle hurts, just on the outside. It's a little swollen, so I iced it and I'm going to see Dr Hunka - Hunka - Burning Love today. I did trip over a stupid rock in the paddock on Saturday but didn't think anything of it. Then we went to the mall and I walked around for quite some time. But on Sunday morning it started to really hurt and by last night I could hardly stand on it. It is actually much much better today. At no point though was the pain bad enough that I would not have raced if it was tomorrow. However...for the first time...and this makes me really sad....I missed a day of training. I was so proud that I had not missed a singe day since I started MfM. Nuts.

But since now I can say I HAVE DONE 13.1 MILES....I guess missing one day of training is OK.

A couple of other observations......And it kills me to say this...but my Kayanos may not be enough for me. Since I am so heavy I think for that distance I need a more substantial shoe. Around Mile 9 I started to feel like I was running in slippers, and not in a good way. So I am torn at this point as to what to do. I have to give that some thought. :confused3

I think 13 miles is a great distance for me. It was a challenge, but not out of the question. It was tough towards the end, but well, and I can't believe I am saying this...not all that bad. Of course I was just plugging along, not really racing or anything. But I liked it. :goodvibes A lot. :teeth:

I also realize I was not dodging people and dealing with a crowd so I am glad to have that 40 minute cushion to do that.

I don't know what my husband thinks anymore. He saw me walking into the bathroom with a huge bowl of ice. I told him I was taking an ice bath. (HE HATES the cold!) However, I was not stiff or sore at all, so there!

So, all in all, I guess I'm ready!

Carrie - I couldn't help it. I really couldn't. We went to Charlie's company holiday party on Friday night and the coat check guy gave me my ticket.....#13. It was a sign I tell ya! A SIGN! :teeth:

Cam - Oh Cam...I'm sorry about Saturday. But you know - and we sure all know - you are ready for this! Oh no, now I see you have pain in your foot. Oh I hope it goes away with your icing. Listen, my appointment with Dr Handsome isn't until 12:30? Why dont you come with me? :goodvibes

Dave - YAY for your last L/R. :woohoo: You are SO ready! CONGRATULATIONS Kevin!!! WTG Lakers! Div II National Football Champions!!!
OK, I don't know sports, but don't the Lakers play basketball?? :confused3

Sara - You ARE really consistent. :thumbsup2 I was all over the board with my times. But hey, I'm just trying to stay ahead of the sweepers! I don't care about anything else.

Sunny - Noooooooooooooooooooo! :guilty: No! no! no! Oh Sunny.... :wizard:

One more thing then I better get to work. Charlie bought a pair of Pearl Izumi tights. I am totally lime green with jealousy. I hope Santa brings me a pair. Holy cow they are nice!

Cam - You were right not to push through that Satruday. Being sick, 4 hours of sleep, holiday running, not a good mix. You will do it when it counts, though! Rest that foot.

Judy - i'd love to give you some advice about missing this run, but you don't really listen to me anyway. ;) ;) Seriously, I woul dnto say I told you so after someone gets hurt. :grouphug: (I still haven't told dh I told you so when I asked him if we should tie down our Xmas tree better a few years ago. Yup, lost a lot of treasured ornamanets in teh fall :( , but I never said a word to him.) Taking a day off is what your body needs. Whther or not your LR hurt your ankle, it sure didn't help it. If it hurts at all when you try to run again, do not run on it! Your body needs this time to heel and you are way more apt to do too much instead of too little. :wizard: :wizard: BTW, yes, the lakers are a pro b-ball team. We are talking college level in Kevin's case, though. ;)

Judy, that is SO great! That is what doing these races is all about! :thumbsup2

Carrie, yes, it is a delicate balance on deciding the speed to start a race. I have done both, started out slow and then wondered if I left something out on the course after I crossed the finish line and started out too fast and was dragging at the end. Funny, in both cases, my times were pretty much the same. :confused3 I certainly felt better taking it slow at the beginning.

Cam, you and Rhonda will do great in the marathon. You are so lucky you have each other. :grouphug:

Krista, I am so glad you are feeling better this morning. Just get lots of rest in the next 3 weeks, ice, stretch and you should be good to go! :thumbsup2

Jodi, sorry I don't have any advice on your friend. That is a hard one. I think it is a decision only she can make. :wizard: for your ailments.

Matt, Dave, Kelley and everyone else, good job getting in your mileage!

Sunny, :wizard: Oh, I hope you kick that virus in the butt! Yes brown gunk in lungs = not good.

Stephanie, sorry about your bad run Saturday. I too am nursing sick kids this week. DS has been sick with the stomach flu since Friday. He is still not back to school today.

I AM FINISHED!!!

Well, I did it. Ran 10 miles, nice and easy, on Saturday and then I was up at 4:15 Sunday morning to get my 20 miles. I felt pretty good after 10 miles, started to feel fatigued after 13, and miles 16-20 were painful. It took me 3:47 to run/walk my 20. Which, coincidentally, was the exact time it took me to run the 20 before Chicago in October! Thankfully I have 3 weeks to repair, restore, recover!! :Pinkbounc

Hi everyone!

I just got back from my WDW trip last night. I had a really good time and I got in 2 runs with a friend while there. We did the short run at Pop Century and the long run (10-miler) in the Boardwalk area.

Craig - Oh, how I wish I had Internet access so that I could have read your post about where to run. I only had access the night I posted so I missed your great suggestion. We ran around the lake area several times and took off on a few side paths. That 2.33 mile route would have been great. I'll have to keep that in mind for next time. :)

I will say, while at the Boardwalk area, we saw quite a few runners and walkers.....and some that were on the heavy side like me. It's good to see all shapes and sizes trying to be healthy. :thumbsup2 I always thought that running was for slim people only and that's one of the reasons I never thought about doing this before.

Jodi, Krista and others with injuries - no words of advice but offering :wizard: and :grouphug: .

Sunny - more :wizard: and well wishes for you. :grouphug: Hoping for the best!

Kim - your time is coming - it won't be long. :teeth:

Judy - :wizard: for you and Mist. I'm praying for a successful outcome.

Mel - I think you asked if I saw a possible location for group photo at the Pop. Honestly, I didn't even think to look. However, I think as others have mentioned, there seems to be several places that could be possibilities.

For all of you with great LR's - :thumbsup2

For all of you with not-so-great long runs - :cheer2: Hang in there! "Every worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory." - Mahatma Gandhi

For my long run at WDW, as mentioned earlier, I had an average pace of 14:46. I consider that good since I'm just a beginner, we took a bathroom break, we went back to the car for stretching and a gatorade break, and a few water fountain stops. So, with these breaks I think the overall time turned out well. :thumbsup2

Here's another quote that I like, and - it seems to fit my training efforts:

"When I did this three years ago, it was like death. When I did it last year, it was like near death. This year, it was just really hard." - John Howie, wheelchair athlete, describing his Charlotte Observer 10k races from 1990 - 1993.

I'm just back from Dr Hunka-Hunka Burning Love and he said I just have tendonitis! YAY! :cool1:

What is it about this sport that makes a person react like that? I was so HAPPY to hear it was JUST tendonitis, instead of a stress fracture. I was positively floating out of his office. All the poor mierable-looking people in casts on crutches must have thought I was a lunatic or something.

:rotfl:

Anyway, good. A bump in the road, not a stop sign.

Susie -- Congratulations on being so disciplined that you trained at WDW! I bet you felt so proud of yourself and very accomplished. YAY!! :woohoo: And I love that quote. Thank you for sharing it!

Hi, Heather! I hope your family is having a wonderful time getting ready for the holidays!

Cam - How are you feeling today? I hope you are feeling better. :flower3: I thought of you often on my L/R on Saturday. I was thinking of how much I have accomplished and how amazed I am about all I've done - and all I'm about to do, and I was thinking about how grateful I am for you bringing me here and getting me started. I really owe you so much. :goodvibes You don't know what a difference you've made.

Hi WISH Team!

I'm in a rush but want to say:
Sunny, PD to you. Get well, rest.

Cam, stay off the foot. XT from here out. RICE!

Me too, XT--knee is still bugging me. I am going take myself over those finish lines! I'm looking for swogging. Trying to get to the gym now. I'd rather be outside though.

Kim, thanks for your support. You keep on with your steps and building that base. Your time will be here soon. Learn from this part too.

Judy, Yay! for ONLY ...itis. Take it easy. XT with the rest of us.

I'm thinking that many here are going into the event as XT from here out. We'll do it!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I am already missing that I am not taking the steps. All that I have read says to back off, so I am giving it a go.

It is more difficult than I would ever have imagined. Sheesh!

For Diane (and anyone else who is interested) - the Target WISH ornament is a wooden ornament that spells out WISH in letters about 1.5" high. It is painted with glittery paint so it is sparkly lime green! They are sold in the ornament section of Target and are about $3. When they originally came out they were very easy to find but the last couple of weeks they have disappeared from our stores.

Like I said before, I have a couple of extras so for those who wanted them but can't find them let me know!

Well, I started out my first day of vacation with a trip to the pod. Got impressions done for my orthotics...he cut me a deal since I was whining about the price from the other podiatrist. And he's rushing the order so that I'll have them before the half. He's recommended soft orthotics and says they don't take as long to break-in. He feels I really don't have a choice if I want to keep running...in his words, my feet aren't built for shock absorbtion. I have really high arches and my foot's narrow so all the bones squish together :confused3 And now there's tape on my foot again.
So is running with tape like running with scissors? He didn't tell me I couldn't run with tape on my foot... :rolleyes1

Congrats to everyone on their LR...good, bad or ugly. It's all downhill from here!

Kim...you'll be enjoying your own taper madness this time next year!

Sunny, Cam...anyone else nursing bad bugs :wizard: :wizard:

Krista... :wizard: some PD for your IT

Finished up the Xmas shopping today. Got the wild todd her first two-wheeler (with training wheels). DD13 picked this out for the back...hope it's not a self-fulfilling prophecy...

Judy - AWESOME on the run. Did you do it on a treadmill or outside???

By mile 8-ish my feet really started to ache and I had the feeling that there was no arch support in my Asics. When I was done running everything felt OK but my feet. The top (chubby part by the ankle) of the left foot ached, not broken ache, but just hurting ache. Sometimes I think I am still too heavy to run.

Oh, and I got some new tights and wore them on Saturday, I don't care that my rear bumper is huge, those buggers were so comfortable to run in!!!! With my WISH Shirt on, everyone will see me coming and for once I don't care what my body looks like!

I went to the dr today, thought I'd die walking across the parking lot-- I can't expand my lungs at all. The nurse prac listened to them and said they were clear and was sending me home iwth a weak cough&codeine. I told her I was scared about pneumonia since I had it in May. She said again, no sounds there, but just to be safe she'd order a chest x-ray. So I left wondering how I could feel so bad and not have anything wrong with me. Turns out I have pneum in both lungs. I told her I really, really didn't want to do a quinolon antib, so she's trying my on arithozphin (can't even come close to spell that). If I'm not showing any sings of improvement by Thurs, I may have to take a quinolone. That just can't happen. She also isn't sure its bacterial...

The only good thing that came out of it was she said to me, "if you have a high fever and coughing; demand a chest x-ray". I sure wish I had done that Friday. I don't think I've ever had such a sicly year.

I took advantage of the mild weather and went out for a run this afternoon after work. Here are my splits:

Mile 1: 8:54
Mile 2: 9:39
Mile 3: 10:12
Mile 4: 10:51
Mile 5: 9:31

I went a total of 5.05 in 49:33 for a pace of... 9:49.

I will continue to get in as many miles as possible to get in shape for the "Goofy" which is about to broadside me.

Everyone with injuries, here's more :wizard: for you guys too! Gosh it seems like alot of you are dealing with some sort of injury. I almost feel guilty for not being injured. Take care, you guys!

I did nothing but sit on my butt today. I could at least be injured. ;) Just kidding! Chad is working 5:30am-11:00pm today (his very last day of work :sad2: ) and I had Zack all to myself. Yes, I could have put him in the day care at the Y, but I had too many errands to do & still had not sent out my Christmas cards. So, it was easy to figure out what would win. Since the little terror did not nap today, I didn't even have a shot at a workout DVD. BUT, I got the cards sent and the last bit of Christmas shopping done. So that must be some kind of xt, right? ;)

Hang in there everyone! I can't wait until our rendevous at Pop 2.5 weeks from now!

Mel- I absolutely love the license plate! Your DD will have a great Christmas.

Kristi- Sending :grouphug: to you and Chad on his last day. Having a wild child that just won't take a nap can be very frustrating. My 3 year old gave up naps about 6 months ago, and it about kills me on the weekends. Now we just make our DDs have "quiet time" in their rooms for about an hour. Somehow the quiet part of that never seems to work out.

Jen- You are NOT too heavy to run. You are an athlete. I am sure that you look fantastic in your running tights. The best part about the WISH shirts is that you can be seen from far away. Everyone will be able to cheer you on, and you can blind other competitors as you pass them. ;)

My house is  the taper! Tonight I went to the grocery store, cleaned out the refrigerator, swept the entire downstairs and the furniture, mopped the kitchen floor (well, Swiffered, but that still counts, right??), put away a gigantic pile of clean clothes that have piled up in the closet for weeks, and started on the laundry! I can't remember the last time I have done that much house work in an evening. See what happens when I don't run!!

Sunny--Not the dreaded "p" word!! I'm sending lots and lots of pixie dust and prayers!!! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Jen--I bet you look smokin' in those tights!! And if ANYONE should question whether or not you are an athlete, challenge them to a "quick" 6 mile run. :)

Christa--Yay!!! No pain on your run! That is awesome :yay: :yay: :yay:

Mel--I am loving that license plate! I think you just may have your hands full with the wild Todd!!

Judy--How wonderful that it's "only" tendonitis! That is great news! Still get some rest and ice just in case.

And speaking of icing, I'm off to do that now!!

By the way, Dave--GO COLTS!!!!!

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

Not too much for me to report. I did 30 min of x-training on the recumbent bike yesterday. My legs are feeling good. So I'm going to try to do my 50 min run today. I have a busy day at work so I need to fit it in at lunchtime.

Last night I re-read the last 3-4 chapters of MfM on preparing for the race. It was giving me goosebumps. I'm getting so excited for the race. I really can't imagine what it's going to be like to be at the starting line. I can't believe I'm going to do this.

HI guys! Sorry I've been away so long. I was out of town this weekend & I am officially SICK!! I have been on the sofa since Friday & I'm sick of it. Needless to say my 12 miler didnt get done (along with alot of other things) since I was at my mom's I didnt go to the Dr. until I got home Monday. I thought I had strep as bad as my throat hurt. I have ear/sinus infections, cough, chest congestion. Coughing up yucky stuff like Sunny, but luckily no strep or flu! I got a anti biotic shot & steroid shot & a Zpac to start today. Hopefully I'll be 100% soon.

Heather-I'm so glad to be included in your dreams! You'll do fine! You will have that Mickey medal soon.

Cam-I hope you & Howard get better soon. None of us have time for these stupid sicknesses.

Sunny-Oh no, not again :wizard: I really hope you get better soon without having to take that nasty med.

Kristi-We will be at the 5k. My dad, neices & DS are doing it.

Judy=great job on your LR.! I'm glad it wasnt a stress fracture. I had the same happen to me, they thought it was one but it is tendonitis. It can still be a big pain though, so be careful.

You guys are doing so great on your training. I am getting worried about this race. We are leaving in 10 days & my training has been spotty at best. OMG, did I just say we leave in 10 days :scared1: I feel so unprepared for this trip both training wise & planning wise. I am very excited to see you guys soon!

Off to try to get my house somewhat presentable. Have a great day.

Well, I went out on Sunday to get my last 20 miler in. I am used to starting my runs at 7am, this time I didn't start until 9:30, because I had to deal with sick kids and sick DH before I left. Then to top it off, the freakin' weather here is killing me. I remember complaining a couple of weeks ago about the fact that it was going to be like 28, well for the past few days it has been almost 80. I couldn't find either pair of socks I usually run in, so I tried to run in my WISH socks. It just seemed that NOTHING was going to go my way for this run. The first 10 were pretty good, but then DH called and told me that Lucas had broken out in a rash all over his body and that I needed to come home. It all went downhill from there. My intervals were shot, I had no more energy, and I struggled to complete the last 4 miles back to the car, and I actually ended up walking the last mile. So I got in 14 miles instead of 20. Now I am seriously wondering wether or not I can do this. I mean I know I have run a 20 and a 22, but after spending 2 weeks taking care of sick family and not getting to run at all I am afraid I have wasted all of that training I had built up. Can that even happen? Then to top it off, I think Michael gave me his cold. I now have a cough and runny nose. Anyone know any quick fixes to get rid of that? I would like to not miss any more runs until the marathon, and I can't do that if I can't breathe.

Krista - I am so sorry about the LR trouble. I know exactly how you feel. Hopefully this will mean we will have a better race?! (wishful thinking).

Cecilia - I was giving my doc a hard time. It seems like ever since my DH and I quit smoking back in April we have been sick constantly, especially with the sore throats. I would rather have a sore throat a couple of times a year though instead of constantly coughing and hacking because I smoke 2 packs a day. Try to take care of yourself. I think I have run myself ragged between training, christmas, and taking care of my infirmary here.

Pat - It seems like there is an entire group of us who were supposed to put in at least 20 and didn't get that far. Maybe if we all buddy up with one of the others who had great LR's they can keep us motivated throughout the race.

Sunny - I am so sorry. I sure do hope you get over this without having to go back on that other antibiotic, and that you feel better soon.

:cheer2: Congratulations to everyone who got their LR's in, regardless of how good it felt.

:grouphug: Hugs to those of you, who like me tried real hard, but didn't quite finish it all. And hugs to those who were feeling to bad to get it in at all.

Good morning, everyone. :grouphug:

Sunny -- I am so glad you insisted on the chest xray, but I'm really sorry you were right. I am keeping you in my prayers that this course of antibiotics will be effective quickly.

Mel -- I LOVE the license plate.

Krista -- since you have so much energy to burn, would you like to come visit my house? OMG, what a disaster! I swear the clutter multiplies overnight!

As for me -- I feel worse today than I have since I got sick a week ago. Maybe it had to peak before I start to improve? :confused3 I am so congested that I have a constant bad headache; oh, and a "non-productive" cough, notwithstanding how congested my throat and chest are.

I have my pulmonary stress test tomorrow but I'm not sure how meaningful the results will be if I am congested and coughing. Since it took about 3 weeks to get this appointment, I'd hate to re-schedule it, especially since my pulmonologist is travelling the 30 minutes to that hospital to administer the test.

Okay, I have to go find cough drops and get my icepack for my foot. I miss you guys and can't wait to see you all. I can't believe how far we've come and how close we are to fulfilling what, for some of us, has seemed to be an impossible dream. Thanks, everyone, for letting me whine.

Christa - Glad you were able to run pain-free. Keep up the icing!!

Jen - :rotfl2: about the tight visual. Really, you are an athlete and shouldn't even give it a second thought.

Mel - Love the license plate!! I hope the orthotics work out for you. I think you can run with tape. Don't football players do that all of the time?!

Lily - XT sounds like a great plan for the duration. I hope the knee feels better soon. :wizard:

Tiff - Great to "see" you again. :wizard: :wizard: for your cold going away quickly.

Cam - :wizard: :wizard: for you.

Dana - You will be fine :thumbsup2 !! Take care of your family and don't sweat it.

Hi Everyone-

Well, it happened. I am officially sick. Hopefully, it is just a cold. I can not believe how incredibly tired I feel! I need to get out and run a little bit today but I am afraid it will completely wipe me out. I guess I will just be thankful that I am not battling pnuemonia! (Get well soon Sunny!)

I think we are all getting sick because our bodies are so run down from the Monster training we have been doing. I am hoping that we will all get better as the taper kicks in. Then we can all be like Kristi and get to the 1 million things we let slide during training! (Congrats Kristi! I wish I felt that good!)

Take care!

Good morning everyone. I have good news!

After a very long period of negotiation...we have an accepted offer on Mist! YAY! I don't have to return her! :woohoo: Isn't this the BEST Christmas present ever!!!

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y52/Honeibee/Mist6.jpg

I've been icing the ankle and trying to take it easy. I don't know if wrapping presents, doing laundry, food shopping and stable chores are considered "taking it easy", but there you have it.

I did take yesterday off from training but this morning I did only 15 min on the TM @ 3.6 and 15 min on the stationary bike. It hardly seemed worth getting out of bed for. I don't think I like this tapering business. It makes me anxious. :hyper:

Mel - I have really wide feet and low arches. I don't think I'm so built for shock-absorbtion either.

Jen - Thank you! I did it outside. It was so nice out here last weekend! I don't really like doing L/Rs on the TM. It's good for during the week but I crave my outside runs on Sat morning. Say Jen, I'm thinking my Kayanos may have caused the tendonitis I now have in my ankle. I think I need more underneath my foot, more support. I'm too heavy for light-weight shoes.

Christa - I really wanted to KNOW I could do it, now just THINK I could. I really feel ready now. YAY! :cheer2:

Oh Sunny - Noooooo! Oh no. I just can't believe this. Not now. Oh you poor thing.... :wizard:

Howard - You're like the only one doing anything around here anymore. It's like we're all standing around watching you work. :rotfl:

Nancy - Hang out with us anyway! We miss you around here. :wave2:

Hey Krista - Wanna come over and do my house now??? :rolleyes1

Last night I re-read the last 3-4 chapters of MfM on preparing for the race. It was giving me goosebumps. I'm getting so excited for the race. I really can't imagine what it's going to be like to be at the starting line. I can't believe I'm going to do this.

Dave - There's a part in one of the last chapters that brings tears to my eyes. I get so excited reading it! I must be just a big baby. I can't believe I'm doing this either. People are amazed I ran 13 miles last Saturday. Believe me - no one is more amazed than me! :teeth:

Jodi - Yes he did. Rest, ice, Motrin or Advil. That's about it. :thumbsup2 He did tell me if it still hurts by the 29th that I should come in for a Cortisone shot so it won't hurt for the race.

Tiff - Oh no! Not you too! I'm sorry to hear your sick. :wizard: Say, when you had tendonitis do you remember how long it lasted?

Cam - Oh no! That's not what I was hoping to hear from you today. Maybe you're right. Maybe now you will start to feel better. :wizard: Oh this stinks.

Cecilia - I can't believe this! You too? :wizard: Holy cow! It's like an epidemic around here! Oh you poor thing...

Oh Minnie - That's so funny! My stepchildren used to call me Miss Judith for a long time when they first met me. Of course, now that's totally over with. I am doing better today. :goodvibes Certainly now since I am the proud momma of Miss Mist!

Steve - Hey, I like your style! :thumbsup2

I certainly hope I don't get sick between now and January 5th. If I come up missing, drain the pond in front of Stephen's work!!!!

Judy--That is WONDERFUL!!!! Definitely the best Christmas present ever! I am so happy for and Mist!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

YAH JUDY!!! You will have to put a BIG bow on her neck and take a picture. Oh and put a Santa Hat on her head!!!!!! By the way, I run in the Asics Nimbus, which are the step down from the Kayanos. I haven't had any problems with my feet or ankles until the 10 mile and 11 mile run. I am wondering if the constant pounding of my weight on my feet is the problem. Tho the running store recommended these shoes for my, even at my weight. Maybe they never thought that "I" could be a long distance runner. Can't wait to see you in the Corrals!!!

Oh and this week I am using the making Christmas presents, cleaning, baking etc as my cross training. I don't have enough time in the day/night to get everything done. My stress levels are through the roof! I plan to get a 6-8 mile run in this weekend tho, I just have to!!!!

Hi Everyone-

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the Pixie dust!!!!

Judy - I can not imagine how excited and happy you are. I know I yelled out loud when I read the news and I have never even met Mist! If your news gets me this happy you must be over the moon!

Well, I managed to get in 4 of my 6 miles on my plan today. I could have run more, but I don't want to push myself too hard while I am sick. The plan today called for marathon speed so I ran them as fast as I could figuring fatigue from the cold would slow me down. WRONG. I ran 4 in 36:30. Ooops, thats a little faster than marthon speed. Not to mention it was on hills. This taper business is going to be interesting. Imagine what I could have run if I could breathe through my nose!

Now I need to clean the house..... come on taper give me some energy!

Hi Everyone, I've been lurking in your threads for a month or so and have really enjoyed following along with everyones training, good or bad. I just wanted to wish everyone the best of luck on your upcoming marathon(s), and I hope to see lots of pictures and trip reports as soon as its over!

I took up slogging last summer to lose some weight and am thinking of trying the marathon next year. My longest run so far was 8.1 miles Saturday in just over 82 minutes, I was going for 10, but I was freezing! Theres a half marathon locally to me in May, I think I can be ready for that.

I'll probably go back into lurking mode for now, but I'll definately join your group for next year. Trying to talk my wife into this too, maybe the half for her, who knows. Again, good luck to everyone, have safe travels and a great race!

What kind of swogging are you doing?

Judy...Congratulations on Mist! :grouphug: That is such exciting news! :cheer2:

Dana...yeah, right there with ya. We're having an awful lot of :beach: for winter this year. Normally, that's fab for me, but now I'm worrying that I havent done a LR in anything less than 65 degrees. Makes those 35 degree starts so much more fun

Jen...I think we're doing the same kind of XT this week. I'm feeding 20 people on Xmas...at some point, I should probably start cleaning, go grocery shopping, etc... :rolleyes1

Cam...if you're getting worse instead of better after one week, you should definitely see someone. I'm torn on the stress test...probably would be a good idea to go and see if they'll do it anyway for a final check before the full. And the pulmonologist would be a good person to check you out, make sure you're not brewing something in your lungs.

Sonny...a pulmonologist might be a good idea for you too. It may just be bad luck, but you're a bit young and healthy for 2 bouts of pneumonia in one year.

Minnie...DH had similar problems with his BS. It was very project oriented and really hard to get everyone involved.

Krista...we'll be sure to check if you don't show up for the full ;)

:wizard: :wizard: to everyone who's sick. I still have fingers crossed...DH and DD13 both went through it last week. I'm staying away from them...no sympathy :teeth: Instead, I'm having wicked allergy attacks...congestion, post-nasal drip, headache...big fun!

Cecilia...you've tickled a brain cell. I'm going to have to look but I think I've read recently about increased training resulting in more colds and cooties.

I just did 3 miles last night on the TM. I think I'm at the point where I'm ready to go do this thing...the taper just seems like we're postponing the ultimate goal. I'm going to try to focus more on the holidays and try to keep the race off my mind.

Chimera,
Hopefully I used the term swogging correctly, kind of a walk/jog combo? I have a really really old treadmill that is stuck on a slight incline and I can't jog continually on it, I have to jog a few minutes and walk a minute to catch my breath still. But, when I get on new flat treadmills, or go outside, I can jog without having to stop and walk at all.

I started doing a couple miles a day on the tm and slowly built up to 4-5 miles a day over about a 4 month period. Lately I just started jogging outside and I so hate the tm now. I much prefer the peace outside in the wee early morning hours. Too bad I waited until it was freezing outside to find that out!

I'm thinking my old tm will be fine this winter though as I start doing quarter miles on it to try and pick up my speed a little bit. I put a goal in my head to beat the 2:15 time in a half, and this summer we have a 7 mile race that is pretty big around here, my boss has challenged me to that one. He's older, but the typical atheletic type so its no big deal to him, I on the other hand am more of your typical desk type jockey, :surfweb: and have never ran further than the fridge until this year, lol.

Thanks everyone for making me feel welcome! Now I feel like running again! :)

Hey Mark - You're pretty funny! "further than the fridge"...sounds to me like you'll fit in just fine here. :goodvibes

I did most of my training for the Half on the TM. Last year I had ACL replacement surgery and started walking on the TM as part of my physical therapy. And look at me now! I was never - NEVER - athletically inclined. Now I'm an "adult onset endurance athlete". :thumbsup2 Shocking, but true!

Oh, and BTW, I have some advice for using the TM....TELEVISION! We put a small tv & DVD player on the wall in front of the tv. I watched a lot of good movies while I trained away. :teeth:

Mark - SOUnds like you are using a great plan and making great progress! We tent to use swogging for jogging in the water and wogging for walk/jog. NO biggie, just want to get you on the same page so you don't get confused. I started using teh TM for teh first time this winter. I am with you on hating them compared to outside!! They do beat snow, ice, wind and 20 degree weather, though. :D

Mel - I don't know if the northerners could take another 35 degree start this year either! We've been spoiled!

Vic -- I swear I didn't give it to you, even though I have the same now. I had to wait a week for my cold to progress to this lousy state. How long have you been sick?

After my 8 mile run a week ago Sunday I was completely tuckered out and I felt that way most of the week, and I had a slight tightness in my chest, and an intermittent cough. But, as the week went on I felt better and better, and by Saturday I felt normal.

My run on Sunday was fine and I felt fine afterwards. Get up yesterday and the tightness was back in my chest and I had the cough. I feel fine, but it's annoying.

I called the doctor's office yesterday and spoke with the nurse. She was supposed to talk with the doc and call me back. Never heard anything. So I stopped in this morning. I'm still waiting for her to call me. What a racket.

I'm not a good sick person. My DW can attest to that. :rotfl:

Hi all,

Oh Sunny, I've been sending those prayers and PD your way.

You too all my WISH Team family.

I'm thinking you are all going to be over it by the time we step off. Do what you can to stay well and don't worry about the running just now.

Mark, don't lurk. Come play! We've got lots of room and would love that you are here.

Judy! Oh Yesssss! I am so thrilled for you. I like the idea of a pic with a big bow and Santa hat! I do love that pic you have of Mist girl for us to enjoy too.

Howard, I'm worring for you too. Don't overtrain please. We need you in one piece here.

I've been trying to get a post in and it has been wicked busy today, with more to come. Hang in there everyone.

I played taper last night. I did some Christmas cards and ate one, yup--only one--cookie DH made. (It was one I don't like much and I thanked him for making them since I was so not tempted to eat all of them.)

Not sure what I'm with tonight. I will see maybe tonight will be a good gym night.

The flu or something icky like it is certainly going around. Hoping everyone is feeling better soon! I'm taking my Airborne so hoping not to catch something over the holidays, although it will be the first year that I didn't. :worried:

This morning I pulled myself out of bed at 5am, got dressed and then ran around the block once before deciding that it was too bloody cold to run outside (even with an extra layer of clothes). It was 27 degrees F here in San Jose, California this morning and my blood *must* be getting thin. I'm an expatriate Canadian and I feel ashamed that I couldn't handle it. I headed to the gym instead.

I've always found it easier to run outside than on a treadmill, but I managed to run/walk 10 miles in about 2:20.

For some reason, I don't think that I run as fast on a treadmill as I do outside. My heart rate is certainly up there though (about where it is normally on my LR). Perhaps it's just calibration? My Nike+ says that I actually ran 11.1 miles. I took the conservative path, and trusted the treadmill, just to be safe since this was my longest run before the 1/2.

This is my first time at all of this, so I don't know what to expect now in terms of the run up to the race. So far I haven't had any injuries (*knock on wood*) although my knees are a bit sore after today's run. I took a couple of ibuprofen.

Best of luck to everyone in getting in their final LR and starting to taper.

Cheers!

Chris

nym,
I see where you use the Nike + thingamajingy, how do you like it? I bought it for myself from my kids for Christmas, so I can't technically play with it until next Monday. The shoes that I ended up with are kinda funky looking, I'm hoping that the transmitter thing will work with my normal shoes instead. I've seen some people tie them to their laces or use a lace wallet thing to secure it on top of the shoe.

Are you talking about the championchip?

They make shoes with one????

Well heck learn something new all the time!

An electrical tie would work just as well--the plastic things that are sometimes used to hold wires together--looks like a permanent garbage tie.

At Disney they give you a skinny one that is really good but then pops right off with a pair of clippers or scissors.

Those that are sick---I am sooo sorry you aren't feeling well or might get the cooties.

As much as it sucks now---as one who had to do the full with the flu.....now is better than race day. For those who haven't caught it yet---I hope that it stays far far far away from you!

Sunny - tons of :grouphug: and :wizard: !!! I really hope you are better soon! I am so sorry for all you have had to deal with lately!

More :wizard: and pixiedust: for all the sickies!!! I can't help much with the injuries, but for you who are dealing with respiratory stuff... I was sick both of the last two years. My doctor told me not to run the races - definitely not an option!!! He finally relented and said that if it wasn't in my chest (not coughing up stuff), I could run. He suggested using Neosynephrine (sp??) once on race morning. He said it is addictive, and I would feel worse after it wore off, but it would get me through the race. He was right! :thumbsup2 I am not a doctor, so please double check with yours before trying this. Just an idea for anyone in the same situation...

Happy tapering to everyone!!! I really do miss training with you all! (Wow, I never thought I would miss long runs.... :faint: shock!) I will be cheering extra loud for you all, though! :thumbsup2 See you SOOOOOOON!!!

Mark - the NIKE+ sensor can be used with any pair of shoes. Marware sells a neopreme pouch that attachs it to your shoelaces and helps keep it out of the elements. I calibrated mine while walking last weekend. Over 5 miles it registered 5.03. I'm not sure if it was the NIKE+ or the state park systems mile markers that were off. My daughter has one also and hers always seems to register high, even on the TM. I think it all comes down to calibration.

To everyone who is sick, get well soon. Maybe taper will help get over what ails everyone sooner.

The boss came into work today sick. He thinks he is too busy to stay home an rest. We actually got worried when he hadn't shown up by 10:30 when he is normally there by 8:30. i plan to stay away from him as much as possible.

I am still hitting the TM and walking outside when possible. I get bored thinking about the TM as I am not training for anything. It is easier to walk on weekends while Lynne is doing her runs as it gets me out.

PT is going OK. I still have not gained full range of motion back. The therapist said he wants me to have full range when I start back in January after the WDW trip.

Judy - congrats on getting Mist. She will be much happier and healthier under your ownership.

Everyone have a great holiday and get healthy. Will see everyone before the race. I will be cheering for everyone on both days.

Mark- as Mom said, the issue w/ the Nike+ unit for the Nano is calibration. It was registering consistently high(23.8 mi for my 20 a couple weeks ago- I wish) in spite of my attempts to calibrate it before we got the new Marware cases. Now it's reading consistently low. I haven't recalibrated it again though.

Training for Goofy- um, okay. I haven't bothered doing any back to back LRs and did three 16 milers plus a 20 miler rather than the planned 16, 18, 20, 22. Somewhat in my defense though, I have been doing a bike focus winter maintenance program for triathlon so last weekend consisted of 3.5 hours on the bike plus a 2 mile transistion run on Sat and then 16 mi LR plus another 1.5 hrs on the bike on Sun. Since my goal is to PR the half and just do whatever for the full to get the Goofy, I'm not really too concerned. I've got the fitness to run a half hard and the endurance to run a full fatigued.

Judy- congrats on getting Mist.

Sickies- mucho pixie dust.

Just as a note of encouragment. I went back to school on Tues last year, was fully sick by Weds, and flew back out for the marathon on Thurs. I couldn't breathe and was hacking up a lung every night including the one before the full. What happened? Well, I have that Mickey medal. My time was dissappointing because I started trying to run like I was healthy, not following my plan w/ the Clif Pace Group, and oh yeah, I had an injury from something stupid I had done 2 weeks before that decided to get so painful I was reduced to walking around mile 16. To fully cap the day off, I got stung by a bee exiting the Animal Kingdom. I had almost 2 hours to spare ahead of the sweeps but I was still dissappointed. So this year has got to go better...BTW, I finally started feeling respiratory healthier on Monday after the race, maybe there is something to sweating it out :thumbsup2

ColleenOMG! Put it to taper madness. :confused3 :rotfl2:

So, I'm sitting here feeling really exhausted after today's stressful day. I am not sure if I have anything left in me to get myself up from here or not. I've determined that I am phobic about going to the gym and sharing air and such with more strangers before the race. I am having great difficulty not putting in steps at the moment.

Kathy, I'm glad your PT is progressing. PD that you will get the range of motion back.

Lynne, sounds like you've got a good plan in place for that Goofy. I'm knowing you will do it for sure.

I gathered that the Nike + is more like the Polar style a mucho sophisticated pedometer since it can be used indoors. What do I know...

The NIKE+ is a super pedometer. There is a pickup unit that attaches to the bottom of the Apple Nano's. The unit talks the the sensor on your shoe and tells you distance, time and pace by pushing the center button. You can also set up a power song which you activate by holding the center button.

Unlike the Garmin, it works under trees and when it is overcast. If you already have a Nano, the sensor and pickup cost $29 at the apple store. It was designed to work with Nike shoes that have part of the sole cut out to hold the sensor.

Since many people either don't like NIKE or can't wear them, third parties have come out with a way of attaching them to any shoe. It is jusst another toy for this free sport.

Mom gave a good explanation about the Nike+ but another element to it is the software/website. When you hook your Nano to the 'puter it downloads the info to your Nike+ account(free). It then keeps a log of your workouts and you can set personal goals(such as running 100 miles in a month) or participate in challenges w/ others. I'm in a couple challenges for December through BeginnerTriathlete- fastest 5K(yeah right), fastest 10K(yeah right), and most miles(currently 2nd).

Off to read some psychiatry- :crazy2: :( :teeth: :drinking1
We have the psychotic, the depressed, the manic, and the substance using smilies- gosh, I dislike this rotation. 3 more days on in patient and then 13 days of out patient. And my classmates lied to me- they said I would have plenty of time to go play in the NICU w/ the tiny ones during psych; no, actually I haven't, not at all. Grrr.

Just wanted to comment on this, not sure which model you're referring to, but I can speak to the Forerunner 205 model, which has worked perfectly under trees, when overcast, in a thunderstorm, on covered trails, and also most of the time even inside my house or garage! Excellent accuracy when translated into the computer onto the satellite maps. Can tell when I crossed to the other side of small roads, or switched back on trails, when set to the "update every second" mode.

Hi everyone... I will be cautious in my training over the next week or two. I will make sure I am in one piece for the half-marathon and after. However, for the Marathon, anything goes.

I didn't run today... I hope to get in at least 5 miles tomorrow after work. Maybe more. I'll post an update if I do.

I am almost over this nasty head cold and feeling better by the hour.

Happy Taper folks!

Judy - Congrats on being able to keep Mist! Somehow i missed your post and had to go back and find it. I'm so happy for you!

Sunny - I'm so sorry to hear you have pneumonia again. That really stinks. I hope you are feeling better soon.

I'm starting to feel better. Hoping my cold and congestion will be gone by the weekend so i can get in a few short r/w's.

After a very long period of negotiation...we have an accepted offer on Mist! YAY! I don't have to return her! :woohoo: Isn't this the BEST Christmas present ever!!!

Dave - There's a part in one of the last chapters that brings tears to my eyes. I get so excited reading it! I must be just a big baby. I can't believe I'm doing this either. People are amazed I ran 13 miles last Saturday. Believe me - no one is more amazed than me! :teeth:Merry Christmas Judy!!! That is fantastic news. I am soooooo happy for you. It has been such a long haul for you and Mist, and I'm glad she is going to be with you for the rest of her days now. Oh, and as far as the last chapters of MfM goes - reading it was giving me goosebumps. You aren't the only one who is a big baby. I didn't cry, but I was choking up with that last chapter.

Good Morning Team: :surfweb:

OK, here's my training report: I did 40 min on the treadmill (including my 5 min warm up and cool down). I had some soreness in my shins and knee, so I didn't want to push it too much. Yay for the taper. I had a really busy day at work yesterday so I didn't get a chance to keep up with my team mates, so here goes...

Mark- Welcome to the team!!! You ran 8 miles! That's awesome! I just started exercising again after a long, long layoff, and I started by walking 2 miles last January. You are way ahead of where I was. You are going to be in great shape for the 2008 marathon. Definitely keep posting and join the fun.I just did 3 miles last night on the TM. I think I'm at the point where I'm ready to go do this thing...the taper just seems like we're postponing the ultimate goal. I'm going to try to focus more on the holidays and try to keep the race off my mind.Mel/Chimera, I'm with you on this one. I'm feeling ready to go now, but I realize how important the taper is. So I'm minding it. I'm glad the taper comes during the holidays though. I can keep my mind on that. I can't believe Christmas Eve is Sunday!!! Yahooo!!!! (I sound like my princesses...) Good job on your 3 miles.

Vic- Hope you kick your cough/cold soon. My DW had one of those coughs that just would not go away. Hope your's goes away fast.

Colleen- Have a great trip to Canada. Travel Safely! Merry Christmas!

Lily- How'd your training go yesterday? Good night at the gym? Mmmmmm, Christmas Cards. I hear they're a good source of fiber.

Chris- Great job on your 10 miler (or 11?)!!! Way to go! Enjoy the taper. Rest up and get all that soreness out of your body for the race. This is my first time at it too, and I can't wait! Although, I still have trouble envisioning myself at the starting line. It seems kind of surreal.

Lisa- You did the full with the FLU!!! OMG!!!! I can't even imagine. Oh no, no, no... I gotta start taking the airborne.

Hi Kathy :wave2: - Good to hear from you. I hope your shoulder is healing up well. Are you going to be at WDW to cheer Lynne (and us) on for the marathon? Oh good, I just finished your post where you said you would be there and cheering us on. I'll be looking for you on the course. Travel safely, and happy holidays.

Kristi- Were you the one saying how much you love the bed? I think I'm seeing that now. Good thing you tested out the new jammies before race weekend though. Now you know they work, and can take them with you for the marathon weekend knowing you won't get any bed sores or anything from them. Great job training!!!

Hello Lynne- Good to hear from you too. Are you on break from Med School now? If so, enjoy. Get some rest! Hey, I'm in the Psychiatry department here at the UofR. However, I'm a researcher not a clinician. I must admit I don't get too much out of the clinical Grand Rounds presentations I have to go too.

Wow, Matt- Sounds like you got a really good Garmin, or else you have satellites pointed right at your house. I'm amazed that your's works inside the house and garage. Maybe you should put some foil on your head to protect you from the satellites though.

Howard- Stay healthy and take care!

Terri- Hope you're feeling better now soon too.

Where's Kevin? You doing OK out there?

Sunny- Here's my daily dose of good vibes and PD that you get better soon. Come on antibiotics... you will not take the second antibiotics. There has to be another option.

Jody- How are you doing? Are you staying healthy? How are your legs?

AmyBeth- How are you doing out there? Are you lurking? We're thinking of you, and I hope you're healing up.

OK, off to get ready for work now. Have a good day everyone.

Hi everyone!

Judy - I"M SO HAPPY FOR YOU! Oh, what a relief! :goodvibes :grouphug:

Sunny - sending lots of :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: ! :grouphug: Thinking good thoughts here, thinking good thoughts and sending your way.......

I was so happy after completing 10 miles last Saturday. I felt like I could have run the half that day. That was a PR for me. My previous longest distance was 8 miles. I wasn't sure I could do it because 2 weeks prior, I developed some soreness in what I think is my adductor muscles. Through some stretching and working out the soreness in the first mile or two, I was able to finish the 10.

Now for the bad - :(

I was supposed to W3/R2 for 50 minutes last night. (Actually, I was supposed to do it Monday night but I was finishing grading reports/projects/finals for my classes.) Anyway, long story short, I couldn't run at all and I could barely walk at a 17 min pace. Every time I tried to get up to a faster pace, I would start limping. My run was a major limp-run causing pain in my left shin. I think it's one of my adductor muscles or pectineous. I doesn't hurt until I try to run or walk at a faster speed and this is after 10 minutes of stretching and slow walking for a mile.

Has anyone experienced this before?

For all those nursing injuries or colds and other, :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :grouphug: .

Judy-I am so glad you get to keep your baby! As for the tendonitis, it is something that I will probably always have. It is re-occcuring. Sometimes it acts up, sometimes its fine.

Cam- :wizard: get better sweetie!

Mark-Welcome! No need to go back to lurking. Stay ,no matter what you are training for this is a great group!

I'm feeling much better today, but the kiddos are both about to cough up a lung. NOOOOO, I need 1 day of me feeling better & them in school to get caught up. Today is their last day of school. Ugh! I'm hoping to get back into semi-training by the weekend.

OK, I did 10 min on teh TM last night adn hip hurt, so I did the next 40 on teh eliptical. Still not great, bbut not bad. Now, relatively speaking, it's been hurting much less and my knees don't hurt at all. After the 20-miler, that's pretty good. I'm thinking about no runs/eliptical 'til Saturday, but don't know. How come I tell others to take it easy and fell guilty if I miss? (Maybe because I''ve missed alot lately). Good morning everyone!!! It's almost Christmas!!!! :cool1:  :Pinkbounc :cool1:  Yeah, I'm as bad as a kid! :teeth: I went to the Community Center and did 50 minutes on the elliptical last night. That's a hard workout!! I did almost 4 miles in the 50 minutes, I have no idea if that's good or bad or what. Well, I know it's not good, but I'm hoping it's not too bad. :) I kept the resistance on 3 and tried to keep the cadence around 130, I don't know how close that is to running. I don't think I like working out at the Community Center, too much competition! I didn't have Joe Buff next to me, instead I had Jane Buff next to me. This girl was doing the elliptical machine backwards and keeping her cadence around 160-170!!!!! I couldn't believe it! I was wishing her gone, she was making me look bad. ;)

Cam and Sunny--Are you girls feeling better today?

Susie--I don't know anything about the adductor muscles, but I do know that you should not run or walk when are in pain like that! Especially this close to the marathon. Take a couple of days off, ice and take Advil for swelling. Cross train instead of running/walking to keep your muscle tone and fitness. I definitely know how you feel as I am nursing an IT band injury, but somehow we will make it through this together. :thumbsup2

Mark--Welcome!!!!!! Don't be a lurker, join in the fun!!

Lily--So eating Christmas cards is how you stay so fit? I'm going to have to try that. ;) How is your IT band feeling today?

Matt--I can get a signal for my Garmin inside my house and garage too. We must be magnetic people. :teeth:

Kathy and Lynne--Good to see you again! Looking forward to seeing you both in a couple of weeks.

Colleen--Just in case you aren't gone yet, have a safe trip to Canada and have a very Merry Christmas!!!!

You know, I am kind of disappointed in everyone, here we are in the taper and we haven't had one crazy conversation yet. Let's get to work on that. :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Morning Everyone,

Wow -- I got a lot done yesterday! There was a lot of running around to do for Christmas stuff, and I also had to exchange a pair of running shorts that I feel in love with -- for just the size up (slightly different cut than I'm used to).

Last night, I did 30 minutes on the ellipitical and some weight training and stretches on my legs (also worked in some core).....so far I feel pretty good. There's still the occassional tighteness here and there but the doctor also told me that the shot might not be 100% but said since we hit the taper I should be fine for Marathon weekend. I'm just really a worry wart.

Jody- How are you doing? Are you staying healthy? How are your legs?
I decided to do crosstraining and elliptical/bike stuff while in taper. So far my legs are doing pretty good! How are your legs doing Dave? let's hope that both your legs and my legs don't act up in Disney! It's so weird -- everyone has faith in me but me. My husband keeps on sayng that I will do fine.

Judy - great news on Mist

Good morning everyone. I feel like a total slug. :sad2:

I was supposed to do 50 min on Monday but since I had this tendonitis thing going on I thought I better take a rest day. Being the anal retentive type that I am...this immediately started making me crazy. I had not missed a single day of training since I started MfM. So I said OK I'll trade my Wednesday rest day with Monday. So this morning I intended to get up and do my 50 min. But instead what happened was my rational brain took over and although I woke up on time I thought "What the hell am I doing?" I'm SUPPOSED TO REST IT! So, OK I didn't train. I rested.

Now I'm REALLY annoyed. :headache: I'm all grouchy and twitching and cranky. OK I KNOW no one can tell the difference from any other day, but that's not the point.

I don't think I like this rest and taper thing. I feel totally sluggish and unproductive. :crazy2:

I also realize I am being a total brat here. There are many of you dealing with much worse than I have going on right now. But I'm so afraid I'm going to blow it...

Oh let me just add two other gems to this: My stepson has MONO! I already told Charlie that if I get it, I'm taking a life. :furious: And that's all there is to that. (I know you're thinking "Gee what a compassionate stepmother you are!" But this kid has not been up to see us in 4 months (He's 17). Ever since dear old dad gave him money to buy a car, it seems he's "too busy" to come up. Charlie is very annoyed - and I'm sure hurt - about this.) But anyway my point is that he's certainly going to come up for Christmas so he can get his presents. And if I get sick.... :furious: Grrrrrrr!

My other gem is this...I have gained FOUR POUNDS! HOLY COW! :faint: I AM a slug! I big fat slug!

Mel - Honest to goodness - you made me really LAUGH OUT LOUD with your response to Lily about eating the card! :rotfl: OMG! Thanks! I needed that! :lmao:

Thank you very much to EVERYONE for your comments about Mist. :goodvibes I am really really happy about this. I found out five other foster moms also bought their horses. Although it kills me that we had to give money to that abuser, I am so glad we were able to save five horses. I just feel really bad for the ones that went back....

:wizard: to everyone dealing with sicknesses and/or injuries. At least you all aren't being a big fat baby like I am!

I'm sorry I'm not catching up with everyone. I'm actually supposed to be interviewing someone in about five minutes.

Lynnda – It is so nice to see you here. I am so glad you had a good doctor’s visit. I hope you’ll be feeling 100% for the holidays!

Lynne – I am sorry you are not enjoying the psych rotation, and I really hope you get some time to go to the NICU unit. Those babies need your calming, loving presence. Can’t wait to see you in just over 2 weeks!

Kathy – I am so glad PT is going well, and hope you will have full range of motion in January. I give you a lot of credit for getting out there each weekend with Lynne. I can’t imagine I could motivate myself without a specific event looming.

Sunny – How are you feeling today, sweetie? Have you been on the antibiotics for 48 hours yet? Do you see any improvement?

Susie – sending pixiedust: for you that whatever you were experiencing last night was an aberration and you’ll be much better very quickly. Did you ice and rest like you are supposed to? Sending you a  and :goodvibes: that you’ll feel much better very quickly.

Tiff – Thank you for the good wishes, sweetie! I am so glad you are feeling better. I hope the kids get over their coughs very quickly and come into Christmas vacation healthy.

Carrie – I think Curves is the perfect compromise, but don’t stress your legs/hips.

Hi, Krista! I think that 4 miles in 50 minutes on the elliptical is awesome! I am curious, though, did you experience any numbness in the balls of your feet being on the elliptical that long? I have found that unless I concentrate on moving my feet periodically on the elliptical, that after about 15 minutes, the balls of my feet are numb. I don’t know if I could do 50 minutes.

Judy– You are not a slug! You have been working all year to earn this period of taper to bring your body to what it has to be on THE DAY!!! If you need any reassurance at all, just read this week and last week’s threads again. We are all going through this to some extent (except my stubborn DH, of course, who never believed in the taper anyway! POW!) Sorry I can’t offer any advice about the 4 lbs. I did the same thing last year and have been completely out of control recently. But I do remember so well thinking at the DL Half that if I’d been a bit more disciplined about my food, I wouldn’t be carrying the equivalent of a 5 lb bag of sugar for the entire 13.1 miles!

Judy--Enjoy the taper, you have EARNED it!! :) Also, the "f" word (fat) and the "s" word (slug) are not allowed!!!! Take them out of your vocabulary NOW!!! Here's some :wizard: that you stay healthy.

Carrie--I think Curves sounds perfect, like Cam said you are still getting a good workout in, but not putting any stress on your hips and legs.

Cam--My feet go numb on the elliptical too. Every once in a while I scrunched my feet around in my shoes, it seemed to help. Are you feeling any better today? Good luck on your test!

Mark -- I have been saying forever that the best "toys" I have ever bought for this "free sport" :rotfl: are my Garmin and my ipod shuffle. Of course, I have been lusting after an ipod video for those long days on the treadmill, but still, these are pretty awesome!

Krista -- Thanks for asking how I am feeling. And thanks to everyone who sent good wishes and asked. I am feeling markedly better today (except for a tummy ache from eating too much last night). I thought I'd be worse today because we were out in freezing temps last night car shopping, but it didn't seem to do any harm.

My test this morning was a bust. They got through all the resting tests (I almost fainted when the respiratory therapist "hit a nerve" in my wrist when she tried to do an arterial blood gas? and then had to do a second very painful attempt on the inner elbow). So they did the resting bloodwork, BP, EKG, pulmonary function baseline tests, etc and then couldn't get the computer to calibrate to the bike. Something to do with a bad module. So, I have to go back next Wednesday to try again. I am really dreading the blood draws for this thing. My arm is still painful and tingly.

I am such a whiner :sad1: , aren't I? ;) And, after all that, I didn't even get in any kind of a workout. Hoping to go to the gym tonight, though I really need to go Christmas shopping since Howard finally gave me a list (thanks, Honey! ) and we have to finalize details on the new car we are buying for a family Christmas surprise!

Well, just had to pop in quick and share that Santa came and visited me early this year. I went to visit my mom and her and my dad bought me a Garmin for Christmas! WooHoo!!!!! :cool1: Dad thought I would need it for training over the holidays since I'll be running in unfamiliar territory! I'm so excited to open the box and play around with it! Unfortunately, I still have to pack for the 4 of us so we can leave for IL's tomorrow at 4am! Also, had a great run today--since I"m not tapering like the rest of ya'll (sounds nice though!) I switched my runs up and did my LR today--10 miles in just over 92 min. Beat the heck out of that stonker on Sat. Hi Everyone-

This is a complete drive by as I just discovered that my browser has been skipping posts. I wonder how long I have been clueless?

Anyway, I am off to my group run. 8 miles tonight but I think I am gonna have to skip the beer and pizza after - I want to take it easy with this cold.
I am trying to flush the cold away by guzzling gallons of water. I decided to slow down around 4pm so that I don't have to take too many pit stops on the run. :)

Today I ran 1/4 of the marathon, 10,550 meters, and hoped to carry my anticipated race pace of 10:30 per mile. It was cold and sunny today, and except for the wind it would have been ideal running weather.

I went through the first 5 miles at 10:13 per mile, with the first mile at 10 flat and each mile following at consistent pace. I felt great, running easy, and accelerated the last mile and a half, finishing in 66:43, 10:11 per mile, equivalent to a 4:27 marathon.

As I neared the finish I began to daydream. Finishing easily under 4:30 on January 7, comfortable every step and every mile. Finishing in glory. Getting the kiss and the roses from "Miss Disney Marathon." Visions of success and wonder filled my mind. Wonderful stuff.

Then I began to rationalize. Today I did that in the middle of training and I wasn't tired or straining at all. Certainly I could carry the same pace for 4 times the distance on race day, since having fresh legs and being surrounded by other runners makes it so much easier.

Then reality struck. If I go out that fast on race day I'm afraid 'll feel wonderful for about 15 miles, clicking along, and then BAM, the legs go, everything falls apart, and the last 11 miles are horrible. I'd so much love to go sub-4:30, but the downside is too big a chance to take.

So. . . back to the real world. I think I'll be able to average 10:30 per mile for the marathon, and I hope I have the good sense to start and end at the same pace, as opposed to last year when I started too fast and finished too slow. But then again, you get excited, the gun goes off, and ZOOOOOOM. So much for rational strategy  .

I know many of you are struggling right now with your training. I can't say I'm surprised given the many, many demands on your physical and emotional energy this time of year. It's easy to say, and hard to do, but in the last week before the race you need to think about yourselves. Training all year gets you almost ready, but in the last week you need to make yourself totally ready. Make sure you are physically and mentally fresh when the races start at 6 a.m. When your legs begin to blow during the race you'll need that mental freshness to keep moving.

When it gets bad your body will tell your mind to step off the course and stop. Don't listen. Keep going, keep your focus on the finish, and keep moving.

And don't get too discouraged. The hard work is behind you. The fun is coming very soon. Enjoy it all.

I'm afraid it's not just bad allergies anymore  I'm skipping my SR tonight because I've been taking Allegra D all day and the D tends to jack up my HR :sad1:

Craig...congrats on your run!

Kristi...do you have any idea what your pace is during your walking and running intervals? If I do w3/r2, I'm at about 13:30. Even with r4/W1, I can get to around 12:00mpm, but not always consistently. I just can't figure out why I'm so much slower than everyone else. :guilty:

Stephanie...congrats on your Garmin! What model did you get?

Someone mentioned the Garmin indoor signal strength. I have the 301 and it gets very lost and lonely inside...keeps looking for a signal. I did hear that the 205 and 305 are better about that though.

Vic...My...what big eye you have!

Cam...we have a Sienna...a green '04. We were at the Honda dealer yesterday getting new shoes for my Element. The Pilots are pretty cool! Glad that you're feeling better! You're not nearly a whiner...ABGs are a painful stick for anyone!

Lynne...great to see you around! I got some of my best stories from my psych rotation...nothing like bipolar karoake on Fridays at the VA.

Mark...brrr! What kind of music do you run to?

Lynnda...glad to see you're better too!

Bill...great pace!

We have a new running store...fit2run! It's pretty cool, but a bit pricey. They have a video TM to assess gait that's neat. And they carry LOTS of different brands of shoes! It's like utopia for those of us with a running shoe fetish! They even had several varieties of purple shoes

I'll pretty much listen to anything, but I really like 80's rock when I'm running. The harder the rock, the better, but only when I run. Normally, I'm a talk radio kind of guy.

mel--I got the 205 garmin--It actually got a satellite signal inside our house--So I played around a bit--but I decided to use the owner's manual as my reading material on our drive tomorrow--and then get to try it out on my run on Friday!

Good Morning Team: :surfweb:

Well, I missed my x-training SWOG yesterday. I was busy at work during the pool's open swim times. So I ended up taking a rest day. I'll try to make it up tomorrow and SWOG instead of having a rest day Friday.

Cecilia- How was your run? And how's your cold. The cold has finally settled into our house, and everyone (including me) is fighting it now.

Kristi- Great 4 mile run! That is fantastic. I'm amazed at the consistency of your miles. Great job!

Craig- Fantastic run! You were cruising right along there. Thanks for the post and encouragement. I, for one, am fully embracing the taper to get my legs and my mind ready. It feels great to be able to rest up a bit - both physically and mentally. At this point I really need it.

Mel/Chimera- Sorry you are feeling sick. I think I was in the same boat as you and kept saying "oh, my sinuses are bothering me because my office is dry." Well, I don't think it's dry air that's bothering me anymore either. Get yourself better soon.

Kristi - That is a GREAT pace!! Way to go!! Be happy for you and don't worry if it's not as good as some others, unless you win, which I don't think any of ushere will, there will always be someone better. You know what is good fro you, though. Way to go!!!

Craig - great words as always. I'm still trying to figure out my starting pace (and convince dh it's a good one). It's so much more fun when you have a little left to blow it out at the end. Way to go on a great run!

Mel - :grouphug: Hope you're feeling better soon. If you need a pick-me-up, just think of all those purple shoes! :teeth:

DAve - Hope you're feeing better soon!!

Cam - Hope you're continuing to get better!

Dh picked up a 3-pack of airborne this week in preparation for the ohliday travels. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Did 40 minutes at Curves last night. It's tough to do that much using only the upper body equipment. Feeling it a bit today, but that's a good thing. My upper body needs it.

I am not sure what my pace is during the walking or running intervals. I just think I walk pretty fast. My mom who ran the entire WDW half last year, cannot keep up with my walking pace when we go out together. I sort of get ahead of her, then she runs a bit to catch up. And we repeat that much of the time we are out there.

Just as a guess, I think I walk in the 13-14 min. range. I'll have to try to pay attention to what the garmin says my walking pace is next time I am outside.

I wouldn't worry about being 'slow!' You are anything but slow! And I am certainly no speed demon. My hubby comes home from sub 9 min/mile runs and reminds me of that all the time! :teeth:

Good Morning Everyone-

Wow we sure have a lot of sick people around here. Maybe the virus is spreading through the computers. :lmao:

I had a great run last night. Well, that is said in hindsight actually. We had alot of new people running with us since training for the Georgia ING is really starting to go into high gear. It was fun to be one of the stronger runners that runs back to check on the slower runners.

I ran 8 miles. Well, I ran farther than that since I ran back to check on people a few times. I was tired the entire time and kept hoping that someone would decide that 8 miles was too far in all the wind. No such luck. It was also the fact that we ran the 8 miles in 1:20. No wonder we kept dropping the newer runners!

My cold is actually a little better today. Perhaps it is only going to be one of those mildly annoying colds instead of a full blown major misery of a cold.

Ok. Last night I ran with a veteran marathoner and he was full of advice. He said the number one mistake people make in marathons is starting out too fast. I tend to be all bouncy at the beginning of a run and I have to make myself slow down. He said that will be twice as hard at the start of the marathon but it is very very important. He told my mentor to buy me a leash!

This guy has run Disney several times and last year he helped several people get their Goofy medals. He said the runners that did the best were the ones that went super super slow on the 1/2. One girl had her picture taken with every charactor just to keep herself slow. Then at the marathon, they did a run/walk thing for the first 10 miles. All but one runner finished and he was the one that ran the half instead of run/walk or walking.

Well, I hope everyone is drinking lots of fluid and getting lots of rest. I know I am getting more and more excited. As my cold gets better and my energy comes back I am going to be bouncing off the walls!

HI Team, I am a bit of a failure this week. This is my worst week of training yet... I haven't done a thing since my 11 mile run on Saturday (and bowling on Sunday). I don't have the time with all the Holiday stuff. I feel just rotten and worried that I am not maintaining all my hard work.

Also, I am not sick, but have the feelings of something starting. I am downing the Vit.C, tho I forgot it this morning. I did eat an orange tho. I am also super exhausted, like wanting to sleep at my desk exhausted.

Work is just draining me this week, which totally suprises me since it never used to be this busy. I have major appointments scheduled right up to the time I leave for Disney. So many people want appointments with me, which is good, but my heart is not into work right now. I have other more important things to deal with... KWIM!!!!

Craig - I really think you can do sub 4:30.....WTG on your run. :cheer2:

I know this doesn't mean much to all you runners - but for the first 2 miles I was doing w3/r2.
Then the asthma was kicking in a bit (forgot preventive hit of the albuterol beforehand, yet again ), so I went scaled back to w3/r1.
Kristi - That is a great pace! Never sandbag your running...be proud at what you are doing. GIRL! you did this pace with asthma! YOU ARE DA WO...MAN!

Here is something funny Ron sent me. I thought we could get a kick out of it. Sorry so long, but I laughed my butt off...wouldn't that be great!

Morning all!!!

Well looky here... only a couple hundred or so posts to check up on! :teeth:

Bad 20 miler folks--- Seriously don't stress about it. I had a huge flame-out on my 20 last year... to the point that at the very end I was in actual pain. But I figured that if nothing else, and that happened again, I could walk the 6 miles from there. Come race day, I split 20 miles 8 minutes faster than I did at home. You'll be fine.

Howard-- Looks like you and I are on the same plan here. I think I'm doing my last back-to-back this weekend and then keeping my fingers crossed for the next couple of weeks.

Sunny-- :grouphug: Hope you are on the mend!

Judy-- That's WONDERFUL news about Mist. You know, there are lots of little kids all over the country totally jealous of you right now because you got a pony for Christmas. :teeth:

Mark-- :welcome:

I wanted to thank everyone for their well wishes with our National Championship run. The whole experience is so surreal. As I was standing on the sidelines near the end of the game, I got to thinking about the marathon, oddly enough. Both events, for me anyway, have the distinction of having moments where you are part of something so much bigger than yourself. There's not many moments in life where you feel like strangers are as close to you as your best friends--- but that's part of the thrill of the marathon for me.

I will do my final back-to-back this weekend, and then it's (really) taper time for me. Since I'm off work until after I get back from WDW  I shouldn't have any trouble getting them in. I've got two Christmas parties in the next three days, one of which we're hosting--- so it's cooking and cleaning madness around here. I'm not heading home for the holidays this year but I've got plenty of "adoptive" family to take good care of me.... but who knew how much work that would be!! :teeth:

T-minus 16 and 17 days, right?? :bitelip:
Happy training!

Lynne- So good to have you back and posting! We have missed you. Can't wait to see you soon. I was talking about you just last week to a client who does Ironman triathlons. I was bragging about how great you are.

Kristi- Did you really go to the pharmacy in your PJ's? :rotfl:

Okay, I am going to get in a LR this weekend. No more sitting on the sidelines and watching everyone else train. popcorn:: I am going to pull out my MfM, get inspired, and start mentally preparing for the marathon.

Cam- It might be a good time to post your packing list again for everyone. It is time to start packing!

Sunny - I'm so happy to hear that you are feeling a little better! I've been logging on several times a day to check on you! We had a horrible year about 6 years ago and i just said that Phil and I were not y2k compliant!!! Here's to a great 2007! Even if it gets off to a goofy start!

OK - so the dreaming has started! Last night, I did a long run 15 w/ Christa. We weren't tired but we were running in a strange city and we just did a point to point not out and back or loop. We had to drive back, but i couldn't keep the car on the road so we had to walk part of the way back. We also had to carry the port-a-john back. It was designed for easy carrying so it wasn't too heavy. I woke up before we dropped or spilled anything (thankfully).

Christa - I generally can find real life elements to explain my dreams! I'll have to fill you in as to my dream theory when I see you in a few weeks!

Good morning everyone - :wave2:

I did 40 min @ 3.8 @ 1% on the TM this morning. I thought I better take it easy today, but I am happy to report my ankle didn't really hurt. It complained a couple of times, but not really much. I'll continue to ice it.

Cam - Oh how exciting that you are getting a new car! And such a cute one too!

Kristi - WOW! :thumbsup2 You go girl! You're going to be a bright lime green streak!

Craig - I'm so impressed! :woohoo: You were really booking there! But your advice is right on and I really have to listen. I too tend to go out too fast - although not nearly as fast as you. I find myself saying "Easy up, easy up!" which is what I used to say to my mare if she was cantering too fast on the trail. Is there really a Miss Disney Marathon?

Mel - Oh I'm sorry you're not feeling well either. :wizard:

Dave - Oh no, et tu? Well, I guess better now than next week... :wizard:

Cecilia - Oh I'm glad your feeling better. :goodvibes Thanks for sharing the advice! The leash idea is a good one! I'll keep that in mind so I don't run out of the gate too fast.

Jen - Oh Jen, why is it so busy everywhere? Isn't December supposed to be a quiet week? :confused3 More importantly, who's idea was it to have the WDW Marathon Weekend right after the holidays?

Christa - Some of those are very very funny! :rotfl: Thanks for sharing! I actually just told someone I didn't feel like going to the cafeteria to get coffee because it was too far to walk and she said "Didn't you just do 13 miles last weekend?" Ha ha ha! :lmao:

Sunny - YAY! :Pinkbounc Did you get the Z-Pak? I love that stuff. It wipes out my bronchitis in no time!

Oh look everyone! It's Kevin! YAY! Ha! That's a good point about the little kids. So true.

Wow! I don't know where to start!

First of all, Sunny -- I am so relieved to hear you are feeling better. I have been so worried about you. Glad to know the pixiedust: worked.

MelR -- That dream cracked me up. I am kind of worried that I haven't had a weird marathon dream yet. Maybe my brain is in denial. :confused3

Christa -- I LOVED that list. Sadly, many do not yet apply to me, but I really do plan become a "runner" in 2007, instead of a wogger/swogger. I am already making my next goal to run the 1/2 in 2008. I can't wait until I can relate to more of those characteristics.

Kevin -- the comment about Judy being the envy of many children this Christmas really touched my heart.

Judy -- Mist really is the lucky one here, but I know you know that you are so fortunate that Charlie understood how you felt about your girl and wanted Mist to remain in your family. I  him already and haven't even met him. I am so glad he has been so supportive for you in your quest for the Donald, too.

Craig -- I am so glad you had such a great run. Thank you so much for your words of wisdom and encouragement. Your words always have such an amazing calming and reassuring effect on me. :lovestruc I really, really appreciate that.

Carrie -- I am so impressed you did 40 minutes at Curves and am so glad you reined yourself in and didn't stress your legs or hips.

Sara -- How are you doing with your stretching? I have been thinking of you and hope all is going well.

Okay, training? Non-existent this week so far, but I am determined to get to the Y tonight and test out my foot on the TM. Hopefully, my migraine will be gone by then.

I have to tell you guys, I was such an emotional mess last night. We watched a special on the NY marathon that tracked 3 athletes -- a veteran in a race wheelchair, a former marathoner who overcame breast cancer, and Lance Armstrong. Can you just imagine me sitting there with Howard, Jenn and Andrew, watching this and just sobbing? Geez, I cannot even imagine how I will be on January 7 when Rhonda and I cross the FINISH line.

And then, I started to tell Andrew and Jenn about Mist and Judy and how happy I am for their family and started bawling so much that Howard had to tell them about it, since I just couldn't get it out.

I am such a basket case. :confused3 ;)

So, I thought some of the lyrics from "I'll Stay With You" by Kristi's beloved Goo's were very fitting when I thought about doing this race with Rhonda (our 3rd together):

These streets
Turn me inside out
Everything shines
But leaves me empty still
And I'll, burn this lonely house down
If you run with me
If you run with me

I'll stay with you
The walls will fall before we do
Take my hand now
We'll run forever
I can feel the storm inside you
I'll stay with you

OK - so the dreaming has started! Last night, I did a long run 15 w/ Christa. We weren't tired but we were running in a strange city and we just did a point to point not out and back or loop. We had to drive back, but i couldn't keep the car on the road so we had to walk part of the way back. We also had to carry the port-a-john back. It was designed for easy carrying so it wasn't too heavy. I woke up before we dropped or spilled anything (thankfully).

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Didn't Helen have you in a port-a-potty in the middle of a restaurant last year? :happytv: I haven't had any dreams, but I made the mistake of watching LotR with a 103 temp. I had a half conscious/half asleep nightmare of orcs and ring wraiths stampeding through my body while I slipped in and out of that netherland Frodo goes into when he puts on the ring. Those movies should have a warning label, "Do not watch if you have a fever or suspect you may have pnemonia" :p

Hello Everyone'

I've been MIA now I'm back :)

I'm so happy to read that everyone is doing well and anticipating our run in two weeks. I take it that everyone has been running because I have not :( Why, lets see work (the Air Force) is making me sustain my pay grade :) I've been traveling. On top of work, the divorce finally went final, plus I've went back to school. so its not like I've been sitting on my butt doing nothing. However I have two weeks, starting tomorrow to loosen up my muscles just in the nick of time for the run. I gotta do it; not running is not an option for me and neither is failure :)

I want to pass on words of encouragement to everyone who's getting ready to go out there in the next two weeks and "do their thing"!!!!! You can do it!!! Its yours, mentally you are already finished and have your medal, now its the physical. As long as the mental is in tack, the physical will follow!!! I can't wait to see all of you out there, sweating, hurting, digging deep and feeling the good pain of success!!! I'm proud of each and everyone of you! My motto for this year is DREAM!!!! "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes, Always Follow Your Heart And Live Out Your Dreams" Right now my dream is to run this race and finish!!! Continue with the great work and LETS DO THIS!!!!!!!!

For those who have asked, my packing list is located at the thread Lily set up for all of those who want to post theirs:
Packing List Thread (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1286620)

Something that should be added for those to whom it applies:
PROOF OF TIME.
Howard will need to show proof of time for both the 1/2 and the full and fortunately, was able to print out from the official websites for the Delaware Marathon and each of the three 1/2s he did this year. He just searched for his runner results on each website and did a print screen, so we will add those to the packing pile -- in the important paper section of course (those are the things I carry in my carry-on! ;) )

So, I thought some of the lyrics from "I'll Stay With You" by Kristi's beloved Goo's were very fitting when I thought about doing this race with Rhonda (our 3rd together):

These streets
Turn me inside out
Everything shines
But leaves me empty still
And I'll, burn this lonely house down
If you run with me
If you run with me

I'll stay with you
The walls will fall before we do
Take my hand now
We'll run forever
I can feel the storm inside you
I'll stay with you

. . . (blah, blah, blah -- some stuff that doesnt' quite fit)

Kind of fun and fitting, right?

 That was the first one I put on my mp3 player this summer!

I love the "run with me, run with me" part - yeah, Johnny, I'll run with you! :rotfl:

Already Charlie and I were talking about what we wanted to do after the Half. I said the first thing I needed to do is lose some weight! Guess I haven't started that program yet.

I have two questions!

What is everyone doing after the Half? I mean, later that day. We are going to D/MGM Studios. If it's cool enough we will be wearing our long sleeve WISH shirts, and of course, sporting our bling, so you can't miss us! We'll be having lunch at Sci-Fi and dinner at The Brown Derby. I'll be on the lookout for other WISHERS in the park!

Also, we need to think about nametags! I have them on my desk so I just need to know what we want to put on them, and I'll print them out. Do we have WISH logo clip art somewhere?

Ok, all this talk of dark chocolate has inspired me to raid Krista's Christmas cookie tins. Thanks a lot! :sad2:

I've progressed from eating everything in sight to eating absolutely anything that "resembles" food at all, including two scary looking cheese string sticks that someone got from the vending machine at work and had left over. Oh, and I made a bet with Hines tonight. I bet him that I could eat my food faster than he does. I think I won. :thumbsup2

ETA: did anyone see that the boards are going to be down for 24 to 48 hours this weekend?? I don't think we can live without checking this thread every two hours! Doesn't anyone understand we're in taper mode? We are unstable at best!

I did 6.25 miles in 62.9 minutes tonight, not bad for running on 2 hours sleep last night. It was raining and foggy, but at least it wasn't freezing out!

I was thinking of the list- YOU KNOW YOU'RE A SERIOUS RUNNER WHEN...
and came up with one more from me-

... You book your Disney hotel based on its jogging path. I just booked the Swan for the end of June because I've always thought it would be fun to jog the boardwalk.

Cam and Kristi that is a great song!

Kim I love your motto!!!! :cheer2: Your the one with the inspirational shirts right? With the sayings on the back? I love that idea.

Our post-Half Marathon plans are to possibly nap if need be. After the lack of sleep and early early morning I typically need some sleep and still end up returning to the room early. We will be at the MK with dinner at Tony's at I think 5 pm.

Now where will the Full Marathon support teams be located? I'm still planning on heading into Epcot or should we try to get to the Beach Club area and be back there to cheer on?

We were able to get in 12 miles back on Saturday and will enjoy a mid-distance this coming Saturday. So far the weather is looking good for the weekend.

Everyone stay healthy!!! DH has had a cold all week so I've been sure to keep up the vitamins so wishing you all good health!

I spent the day cleaning since my mom and IL's (are both coming tomorrow. I felt pretty yucky all day...until I dragged myself onto the TM. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do it, but this was probably the best TM run I've ever had. I did 3.08 miles in 40:02 for a 12:59 pace...that's my best TM pace ever! And I've been able to breathe ever since!

Judy...mmm...dark chocolates :goodvibes Let me invite you over to the dark side...my favorite is Dagoba. :yoda:

There is WISH clipart available. If it's okay with Sunny, it would be cool to use the clippies she designed for the half, full and Goofy. You could just print out blank ones with each individual clippie, then we could write our names on them at the WISH dinner on Friday.

Diane...I'm going to be at Beach Club with the fam. You're welcome to join us if you'd like. Might also be good to be at other locations to spread out the encouragement.

Steve...was that cheese or processed cheese food :crazy2: The first thing I thought when the I saw the upgrade notice was, "Oh no...how will I post the new thread on time?"

Mark...great pace! I did the WDW half last year on 2 hours sleep. I think adrenaline was working overtime that day!

How will I get my WISH fix? My shopping and wrapping are done (1st time EVER I've been done this early), so I thought I'd be catching up on the boards and now there will be no boards! Aggggg!

Oh well, guess I'll have to train instead. Finally, the congestion is out of my chest and almost gone from my head. So tomorrow I'll get back to some cross-training, doing the elliptical. Then I can panic over what I've lost for the past two weeks of doing nothing!

For my post 1/2 plans - after my cold soak, I'm going to MK with my scream team. We're having lunch at 1PM at Tony's. Two of my scream team have to leave Sat. afternoon. After lunch I'll go back to the room with them to see them off and then I'm just going to relax until I fall asleep.

Just in case the boards aren't up before Sunday night, I want to wish you all a very happy holiday. :santa: I'll catch up with you later.

Hi, everyone! I am here to celebrate. :teeth: I went to the Y and committed to an hour on the treadmill. 4.28 miles in 60 minutes. PR, I believe. I think that is an overall pace around 14:07 or something like that. I even ran for a couple of 2+ minute segments. No pain in my foot. I had been dreading testing it and was going to use the migraine and that worry about my foot to not go, but I am so glad I did. It feels good to have done it, KWIM?

If anyone needs to reach me while the boards are down, please feel free to email me at keenercam@aol.com. I am not sure how I am going to survive 48 hours without you guys. You are like a lifeline to me. :grouphug:

Good Morning Team: :surfweb:

OK here's my training post. I ran 3.56 miles in 37:43 min/10:36 mpm pace. Ran 3 loops around the crushed gravel trail on the perimeter of our local park. I felt great. I kind of did an "unintentional" tempo run. Here are my splits:

Mile 1: 11:21 (included 5 min walk)
Mile 2: 8:53 :cool1:
Mile 3: 8:59 :cool1:
last 0.56: 8:29 (included 5 min walk)

I was bad and didn't stretch after my run because I wanted to get to Target to do some Santa work before heading home.

OK everyone, I'm bummed too that we won't have the boards this weekend. Everyone have the Merriest of Christmases. Enjoy celebrating the season with your family in whatever way you do. I'll be thinking of you all over the weekend that's for sure. Maybe I'll send some Christmas greetings out over my WISH ornament.

One final thing - I've been having marathon dreams too. One dream I got lost on the course, and [B]Lily helped me find my way. My most recent dream, my DW didn't show up to watch the race, and instead two of the senior researchers in my department showed up dour faced surprised that I was running.

LOL I mentioned to DH last night when reading about the board being down and how one of the guys had mentioned how unstable we all were with being in the taper period and he asked why there wasn't a back up. Possibly he is worried that without access to the board (even though I don't post often) his weekend is about to become more difficult than he imagined ;) Mwaa-ha-ha-ha

Mel thanks for the offer, I'll be keeping it in mind. I was going with Epcot because I figured with sleeping in a bit that morning and traffic it might be at the end that we see the racers more. My other thought would be to go to MGM. In 2004 we caught the last of the racers thru AKL so I know we'll be too late for anything other than between MGM and the Epcot area. I was just looking at the full course again. It's going to be sooo exciting and I hope I get to see lots of the Full Wishers.

Merry Christmas in case I don't get back on before the boards go down.

Happy Birthday, Jodi & Amy & Dave! :bday:

Kristi -- I'd love to hear from you!

Wow, it is going to be a busy couple of days, and then I'll be into the week where I can "see" ahead to the Friday we are leaving -- right now, I can't see 1/5 because next week is in the way. I know, I'm weird.

So much exciting stuff around here. I did all the lasagna last night for my office (and the meatballs) and wrapped Howard's anniversary presents (tell me again how this is a "free sport" -- 1 pair of running tights, 1 pair of running pants, and a running shirt later!)
Tonight we'll go to an old country inn (built in 1780) for a romantic anniversary (22 years!) dinner.
Tomorrow morning, we take delivery on the Pilot -- we're taking the kids to the dealership with us and they are putting a big red bow on it. Then, friends are coming for the day.
Sunday should be relaxing until we head to north Jersey to celebrate with our very dear friends and their children. Home for carols & hymns before midnight Mass.
Christmas morning is all ours and should be very relaxed, then my brother and his family are coming for dinner at 4.
I am really looking forward to all the hustle and bustle, and then it is totally mental and physical drop-back to recover from the holidays and prepare for the marathon. I am already dreading coming back to work on Tuesday since 2 of my partners will be away, but 2 short weeks and then off to see a Mouse about a medal! :teeth:
Love you guys, Mean it!
Merry Christmas and Happy last day of Hannukah and Blessed, healthy days for all of us! :grouphug:

Happy Anniversary Cam and Howard!

Gee Cam, sounds like it is a good/bad mix you've got going on. Good you will be so busy you can't stress about the upcoming event and the taper we are in. Bad for being so busy. Hope it is in control for you next week.

(Spreding WISHers out, not removing them from teh BC area, that was another very key spot.) If WS is open, there would be great. I died there. Ther ewere no fans, as WS was not open yet and the CMs were not cheetring,a s they were busy getting ready to open.

If worst case with the boards happens, my e-mail is wtpclc@sbcglobal.net

I won't be around Sunday to Tuesday, though. I'll be doing the relative shuffle. Does that count as XT? 6 houses in 2.5 days, 4 cities. I know I'll get upper body on SUnday, as I'll be dpoing dishes fro at a least an hour. Heaven frobid my ILs get one of those evil dishwashers when they have me.

Only thing I did at the gym last night is tan, but hey, wouldn't want to burn during the marathon. I'm going to do upper body again tonight at Curves adn 10 miles tomorrow, though. Thank you for the Anniversary wishes...22 years. It seems like days. I am very lucky to have her. :lovestruc      :lovestruc

I didn't run yesterday. I donated blood for my 6th time this year (I am O-) so I was out of commission to do physical exercises for 24 hours (or so they thought). I donated at 11:30 AM.

I went to the YMCA this morning (8 AM) and for the first time in about 5 months, ran on a treadmill. I really don't like to use them. The tops of my ankles were aching almost immediately. This is something I don't experience outside on pavement where I usually train.

Due to the initial pain; I ran the first mile in 10 minutes, walked the second mile, ran the third mile in 10 minutes, walked an additional half-mile and ran the last mile and a half. My total distance was 5.05 in just over an hour. Not what I had hoped, but it hasn't even been 24 hours since my blood donation. I am still not back to 100% energy and blood wise.

Once the first mile was over and I walked, the pain on the tops of my feet/ankles subsided.

I will continue to get as many miles in as possible over the next week or so. I need to get a LR in soon. With rain in the forecast over the next two days, it might be Monday or Tuesday when that happens.

I am looking forward to experiencing the Disney Weekend with everyone. The Goofy is looming on the horizon. It is time for me to run towards that horizon and sieze the day(s).

Enjoy the weekend, Happy Holidays to one and all!

I remember telling Matt that I was further back in the corrals b/c I was a slow swimmer.

If that was true, I'd be even further back! I do nothing but sink! :rotfl2:

This morning I did 15 min @ 4.0 @ 2.5% and 15 min on the bike.

GOOD MORNING TEAM!!!!!

Well, I crossed trained last night for aobut 35 minutes. It was better than all the fork lifting I have done earlier in the week. I have plans to try to get in a treadmill run on Saturday and Sunday. The Y is closed for the Holidays, so I am stuck at home on the treadmill. We have a snow storm coming tonight, so I really don't think I will be outside.

Mark - I know a guy whose wife ran the San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon. She said it was a great race. In fact he told me that she signed up again for this year and he is doing the 1/2 while she does the full.

My plans for after the 1/2 are to take my girls to Magic Kingdom. Then we have dinner ressies at Ohanas (my favorite place to devour food).

Oh and I haven't had any strange dreams. I feel like I am missing out on it. Usually I have whopper of dreams, when I was PG they were very interesting.

Have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone. I will miss you all when the boards are down!!!

Thanks Jen,

I'm really thinking about doing it even if my boss backs out. According to the website though, http://www.rnrmarathon.com/race_info.html there is no half marathon this year. I originally thought about trying just a half to start.

I put in another 5 miles this morning, very slowly, but I pushed thru. It was odd, I felt great when I got up but as soon as I started running it felt like I was still going from the 6.25 I did last night.

Have a great Christmas everyone!!!

Ran last LR today...was going to do 19 but then thought..why do that? :confused3
Ran 14.3 in the COLD POURING DOWN RAIN. Was so cold the whole time so I cut off the 5 extra miles. Took me about 2:09...ave 9MPM. Tried to take it slow and easy. No knee pain :cheer2: .

Happy Anniversary Cam & Howard!!!!

Ok, I am bad. I am totally blowing off my 8 miler today.

I have way too much 'stuff' to do. We are doing my family's Christmas tomorrow at noon. I have nothing wrapped & still have not put together those darn hot chocolate ice cream cone thingies for everyone's stockings. I have packages to ship. Ugh!

Then, we have to leave there & go to my in-law's huge extended family party. Every year it's Christmas in a different country. Which means, the food will be gross & everyone will hit a McD's on the way home! :rotfl: This year it's Christmas in America in the 1800s or something. I guess they are running out of countries! Should be interesting anyway...

BUT, I only tell you all this to justify slacking off today. I am exhausted as usual, so I am going to nap now. I have been dragging so much lately, my doctor is even checking my thyroid again to see if it's off again.

Jen - I also am missing out on the crazy dreams. Maybe I should sleep more! :teeth: You'll be at the kids races Friday, right? 3 year old girls? I'll be the redhead with the 3 year old, redheaded crazy-boy. :wave2:

Christa- Good for you getting your last LR in. I'm impressed with your running in those conditions. Sounds pretty miserable.

I just got back from a 30 min SWOG over lunch. It was pretty tough to get it in. My cold is sapping my energy, and I really wasn't too into exercising. I got it done though.

Did a 3 miler on the TM. Boy is sick again. I'm not sure what is wrong. He doesn't usually get sick for this long. Anyway, he is convinced that a S'more will make him feel better. I'm not sure I can argue w/ him on that. It usually makes me feel better.

Kristi - I always enjoy an excuse to eat a McDonald's! I'm also pretty serious about my holiday food, so i would be really sad about Christmas around the world!

Sunny - hope to hear from you w/ an update b/4 the boards go down. Otherwise we will all be worrying!!!!

I hate to say it but I am on a 6 week taper! My training was going extremely well and then I ended up with severe knee pain. I didn't actually have it diagnosised, but I think it's just patellar tendonitis. I've been icing and taking ibuprofen ATC. I also had a pair of orthotics made for my shoes at a place that specializes in making orthotics for olympic ski racers. During the first 3 weeks down I ran one 6 miler each week, but then the pain put me out. Now I haven't done anything, not even cross training in 2.5 weeks.

Any advice out there from the veterans? This will be my first marathon, and I will finish it. I was hoping to finish in under 4:30, close to 4:00. So should I try to get on a TM and do some short runs at the risk of making the knee worse or let it rest?

I am really excited for the race and have actually missed running.

Good afternoon everyone!

No running this week. Still battling chest congestion and an intermittent cough. Finally got the doc to spring for some antibiotics. I hope they help.

Will attempt to run my 10 miler on Sunday, or at least go as far as I can. We'll see how it goes.

So, Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary, and Merry Christmas!!!

We'll see you on the flip side. :smooth:

Kristi - I will watch for you at the kids races. I will have a 3 year old girl and 6 year old girl. My three year old may not run by herself, so I might be running with her. My 6 year old is super pumped up about racing. I told her that I had to write her teacher a note to tell her that she would be out of school during my race, she then piped in and said... No mommy it's my race too!

Mark - I guess my guy won't be running the 1/2 if there is non next year. I wonder if he knows that???

We had our work lunch and I ate too much.... Good thing I have no plans for dinner!!!!

sonya - I would say stay off the injury and forgo the running. If you could find some cross training that didn't aggravate that would be best. Hope you heal quickly.

I just wanted to WISH my team mates a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I hope everyone finds love and strength in spending time with their families, and however you celebrate this season be happy, safe, and healthy.

You guys have all been such an inspiration for me this year, and I am truly lucky to have found this team. Thanks for helping and allowing me to take part in this wonderful journey. I am very lucky to have found such a supportive group.

The luncheon went off without a hitch. :teeth: How can you go wrong with lasagna, though, right? Someone made a pineapple& crouton dish and someone else made a salad and there was delicious crab dip. How in the world am I going to eat dinner? ;)
If I don't get back here before the boards go down, Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope Santa is good to you! :goodvibes: Unfortunately, Santa can't bring what I want. I have to go get it myself. The day after Little Christmas, as a matter of fact. ::MickeyMo
hoping to go home soon for a nap before dinner since my migraine is unbearable again. Talk to you all soon! :grouphug:

Hi All,

Haven’t been on here in weeks. RL & holiday stuff has just gotten in the way. Anyway…I finally got caught up in RL so that I have time to catch up with my WISH Team only to find out the boards are going down. :sad2: :scared1: I still have a lot of reading to catch up on what’s been happening around here, but since that will take me a while, I wanted to make sure to get a quick post in before it was too late.

Training hasn’t been going as well as I would like, mostly due to lack of time. But, I have been getting as many steps in as I can.

Cam & Howard – HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Dave, AmyBeth, & Jodi – HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :bday:

Judy – I am so very HAPPY for both you & Mist! :cool1: I teared up when I read your news.

To all those who are sick or with injuries – pixiedust:

To all - A VERY SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!! :santa:

Wow I just got on! Merry Christmas everyone!

Mel-- Feel free to use the clippies. Sounds like a great idea.

As of today, I still can barely move. My lungs aren't bouncing back, they burn if I try to move. I know the full is a total long shot, but now I'm not sure I'll be up to the half, either. I know I'm totally trained for the half, but it's two weeks away and today I couldn't do a mile. This just isn't fair:mad:
