Do you fly down with an empty suitcase? Just thinking Im gonna need more space for the flight back. The airlines are only allowing 1 carryon bag. What if I overflow?

We always carry an empty suitcase with us when we go on any vacation. If you don't want to do that, there are a number of discount stores where you can buy a sports bag or carry on for about $30 to $40. At least there used to be. Like I said, we always bring one with us now because we've accumulated quite a few in our years of traveling. It saves the hassle of trying to fit everything back in the one bag or trying to find one cheap enough. If you're anything like us, we end up buying more souvenirs then we planned on.

If we plan on buying a log of stuff while there, sometimes we do, sometimes we don't, I pack a duffle bag. It is VERY small when nothing is in it and takes no room at all to pack, and if I need room for stuff, I'll put some of the dirty clothes in it. They don't need any protection!!!!

Hey, imgoingtodisney,
Don't take it empty...put some snacks in there...if you don't eat them, throw them out, but that way you'll have something to munch on in the room (or pop tarts or something else quick for breakfast) - the case should be empty for whatever you bought by the end of the week!!!

I always pack a LL Bean style tote in my checked bag. If I need the extra room on the way back I carry that on. My regular carry on is small enough to qualify as a "small, personal article".

I try to pack a smaller packed suitcase inside of a large one. That way I have an extra if, LOL, I need it. My DB thought it was strange when I did this when he came with us last time but by the time we packed to come home he understood.

We pack cereal and snack type stuff for the kitchen in our unit. On the way back it's full of "stuff" we buy.:)

Don't forget about buying at DD and shipping; they will waive FL state tax if you ship, so they usually even out. This is especially good for breakable items, like Christmas decorations!

We packed an extra duffle bag in one of our suitcases. We were glad that we did because we did end up using it on the trip home. We just checked it with our other luggage.

I did have items from one of the DD stores go ahead and ship the items home. I saved $3+ in tax, but the shipping was $10.95 and takes 10-20 days to arrive.
