We've riden Journey to Atlantis at the San Diego Sea World many times and don't think it's that great.

Has anyone riden both the San Diego & Orlando versions? Are they the same? If so, we won't waste our time on this ride while in Orlando.

From what I read on these boards, people seem to really like JTA so I'm thinking it may be different.

Thanks!

It is very different. DD and felt the Orlando one was longer and much more of a "thrill" ride (in the dark, twists and turns, etc.) than San Diego...although that "elevator" for the car was pretty cool and the waiting area was much nicer in SD! Regardless, you'll enjoy the Orlando ride.

Haven't been on the SD version, but from what I heard, the SD version is more of a roller coaster.

The reason the SD version is more of a roller coaster, is the indoor effects are hard to maintain in the Orlando version. Why? It's basically a building with tons water running thru it. The effects wear out and are too expensive to replace. That's why half the effects in the Orlando JTA don't work.

That happens with lots of dark rides. They start out with everything working, but after a few years only half the stuff works. Tomb Raider the Ride at Paramounts Kings Island is an example of this.

Thanks! I'm glad to hear it is different. I'll have to give it a try.

Hopefully all the effects are working :thumbsup2

When I rode J2A in Orlando in June, all the effects plus a couple I haven't noticed before were working fine. Hope you have fun.
