Hi everyone. I've looked everywhere else online, and can't find any ideas. I need real people. I'm freaking out because all my in-laws are coming for dinner on Dec. 23 to see our new apartement. I'm in the middle of doing the dining room, and small problem, I have one wall that has a cut-out window between the kitchen and dining room, with a small shelf, and it's right in the middle of the wall on the dining room side. The window isn't the problem, it's how to decorate that wall. :artist: The only thing I have planned for it so far, is putting a small desk my dad refinished for me, under the window to act as a, I guess you'd call it a "sideboard" for putting food on. The dining room itself is fairly simple. I'm keeping it in the beige/white/rose colour scheme, with a sort of contemporary feel. The wall itself is Mocha mauve. Sort of hot chocolate coloured. Has anyone had something like this in their place? Any ideas on what to do would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

ALL your in-laws are coming? WOW, are you brave! :rotfl2:
Sorry, no ideas on the decorating, but, good luck.
How about a couple of nice candle sconces on each side. Light them for Christmas dinner. It will look beautiful!

I always say, "If want to visit ME, come anytime, if you want to visit my HOUSE, make an appointment." heeheehee. S

Very nice:)
Treat it like a fireplace mantle - no sense trying to disguise it, and pretend it's not there...so make it a focal point.
Sideboard table underneath...some tall, clear glass, cylindrical vases on either side, with willow branches, and/or holly...hurricane candle holder underneath the window area, pillar candle inside (or seashells, or christmas balls, or acorns/chestnuts, glass marbles, just about anything!)...
If you do all that on the sideboard table, leave the shelf clean. Don't put any fussy little things there, it'll just make the window look smaller.
HTH!
Have fun! Like Sandra said, it's about coming to see you:)
Happy Holidays!

LOL! I love the idea of the Mickey and Minnie on either side, but my husband sooo won't go for that. ( I think the kids would like it though!) The candle scones sound like a good idea, and someone else suggested putting someting tall on either side of the window, like bamboo. I think I'm going to try that. I can sort of visualize it from where I'm sitting right now actually.
Thanks guys! Any ideas for what to put over the window?

I don't think I would put anything over the window at all.
