Hi!
I just spent the $50  and signed up for the VIP tent. It seems like a lot of money, but I'm sure I would have regretted it if I hadn't signed up. Anyone else going for the VIP treatment for the Half?? I'll look for you there!
Take care,
Katie

I think I'm going to do it! :)
I just did it. It will be worth it if it is really cold. Otherwise, it won't be worth it. However, the massage sounds good. :teeth:
ETA: Hope to see you there, Katie.

Me & my mom will be there too!!!!! I hope we get some character pics before the race. I told mom we will have to look pretty at 3:00 a.m. now. :teeth:
Anne (Maheare) will be there with her DH too. See you in a few weeks!

Disneybell's DH here...
I am thoroughly disgusted that Disney has the nerve to try and charge me money for basic race support. What is my exorbantant $180.00ish entrance fee going for anyway?! Everything that comes in the VIP with the exception of the character interaction and the message is basic race support at any other race.

OK, I must admit to being kind of confused :confused3
Disney has, IMO, is one of the best races in terms of race support I've ever seen. They do offer plenty of restroom facilities, character interaction, aid stations, food post-race, easy baggage check and cheap post-race massages for all racers. From how I read it, the only thing extra you are getting with the VIP access is pre-race food and heat. (Do we know that the restrooms are not portajohns???) Unless you are an elite runner, you usually don't have access to this kind of thing.
Disney certainly isn't trying to extort extra money from you for "basic race support." If racers want a little extra heat and a pre-race snack offered to them, and Disney wants to put a premium on it, then I totally understand that from both sides.
I personally will choose to save my money and enjoy the atmosphere in the corrals. :thumbsup2

I agree, Kevin. While I do think it can appear that Disney is just trying to get extra money from us (marketing and parting us from our money is what Disney does best :) ), I also think that Disney's races are some of the best coordinated and best supported of all.
And like you, Krista and I are also choosing to enjoy the atmosphere of the corrals and meeting up with all our WISH teammates pre-race. Although, I do have to admit that the heated tents almost got us. :)
I just tried to register and it looks like it's sold out now.

They had these VIP tents and VIP spectator areas at Chicago. I can't remember how much they charged. I know they were giving out FREE passes to people who opened a Lasalle Bank account and to a chosen few loyal customers.

Disney knows how to pamper their guests very well so I am not surprised that you can pay to be in the heated tent. However, I rather save my money for a post race massage at the spa. Hanging out with other runners in the corral is part of the marathon experience. :thumbsup2

I'm with both of you -- No VIP for me.

I signed up for the VIP, as mentioned earlier, because my running buddy said that she was going to sign up. Well, by the time she got around to it, it was already sold out. I wonder if I can sell my "slot"? I'll have to find out.

DH signed up for the VIP tent on the first day. We thought it was well worth the $50 for the heated tent. DH ran Disney last year and has run many marathons including Boston and he thought it was a good price for what you were getting. HTH.
