First Family DLP Trip - advice required

Bonjour, its my first time on the DLP Boards!

Well I spent the day at DLP about 4 years ago with my friends, but next year DS7 and I thinking of a 3 or 4 night trip, for just the two of us. :cool1:

DS has never been to Paris, I’ve been 4 times over the years. We’ve travelled as a family to WDW. DH is off to Amsterdam with his Pals – hence the reason why its just a trip with me and my boy! :rolleyes1

I have the Brits Guide to DLP, which looks to be a great read, but I have a couple of questions first.

Firstly location – is it better to stay in DLP, or stay in central Paris and commute? We will be spending 2 days in the Parks, and the restaurants look more suited to us than those in Paris itself – I’m a veggie and I’ve struggled with Parisian restaurants before. I am leaning towards staying in the parks and then maybe getting the train to Paris for some sightseeing one or two days. What does everyone think? What is a good hotel in the Parks – nice but doesn’t have to be too posh, are the hotels quite far away from the actual Parks?

Second cost – I am gutted that Tesco have stopped its association with Cresta, so it looks like I’ll be paying full price! Any tips please?

I'd definitely stay at DLRP. It's very easy to travel into Paris on the train and there are veggie options at all the restaurants.

I love planning :Pinkbounc ~ the anticipation is almost as much fun as the participation! :)

Had a look last night and I have enough Tesco Clubcard points to stay at the Hilton in Paris, but other than financially, I would really like to stay on site.

Which hotel would anyone recomend for me and DS7, we'de just use it as a base, so good transport is essential!

I would suggest staying at the park for the days you will visit the park and staying in Paris the other days. The commute is not all that long but it seems MUCH longer after a day of sight seeing in paris. Plus you cannot stop by your room to freshen up or relax if it is all the way out at Disney or vice versa.

If money is tight I would try one of the assoicated hotels like the Holiday inn, Kyriad or explorers. They can be booked seperately and tickets bought for your park days. Getting to Paris is easy on the RER a sort of underground and you can get a ticket that covers your travel for the whole day on train bus and tube.

Explorers is a good one. Is this the hotel that has the pool? I cant remember. If so then that would be another advantage for your ds when you get back from the parks. Try expedia.co.uk

Tesco now deal with Leger i think if thats any help - we always use Leger and go by coach with them but thats not to most people's taste i guess

Oh my God no!! Edinburgh to Paris on a coach - with a 7 year old??

I would rather cut of my own arms and feed them to a pack of wolves!

Hi, have you looked at French Life on the clubcard scheme, you can stay at the Pierre & Vacanes hotel at Val d'Europe, which I believe is one of the Disney Associated hotels. It's easy to reach via train and I think there is a shuttle bus too.

I'm exploring all options too, for using up my vouchers.

ETA: Just checked and there is a free shuttle bus to and from the hotel and Disney park and a 40mins train journey into the centre of Paris:thumbsup2

I would agree that staying on site is by far the best option albeit perhaps not the cheapest. I really enjoy wallowing in Disneyness when I'm there and staying off site would kind of spoil it for me
