OKW meet is over *photo added*

We had a few DIS/DVC folks join us, but the meeting site turned out not to be as ideal as it could have been. The weather was beautiful, but the childrens program was right there on Turtle Crawl playing very loud music, so it made talking a bit difficult over the noise. It was also very crowded. I must say, I have NEVER seen that many people at those picnic tables before! We all decided perhaps it had something to do with people waiting for their room assignments on a very busy check-in day. I'll post a picture after I return home later this week. I can't remember my photobucket password!!! :rolleyes:

Not sure I can remember who all was there, but they included Owterbanks, Lisa S., Caskbill, DVCJohn, JimC, Spiceycat, assorted spouses, and a few others I know I am forgetting. Sorry! We had DVC pins donated by the girl at the OKW kiosk, and we were able to write on them with sharpies. Outerbanks had hats and cute hand madegreen Mickey head ornaments that made cute danglies for our name tags. We decided the next meet should be in a GV!!! :teeth: Of course, Caskbill didn't offer it to be his points though!

Thanks Diane for organizing the meet - it was fun to chat with everyone and to put some names with the new faces for me. I always enjoy meeting new people! Maybe next time if we have one at OKW - we should use the Turtle Pond pool in the back of the resort - it was sort of loud up in that area but like I said many times, the music is usually out by the pool. Still it was a fun time for me but I did have to leave early with having dinner plans with other DISers at O'Hanas now that's another fun place but can be loud!

This is a little OT, but I drove into OKW on Dec 4. I wanted to check out the holiday decor. Noticed some kind of road work going on ? Diane...or anyone else there now.....do u know what they're doing ? Just curious.

Sadly, I wasn't there and have not yet met everyone in the photo - but -

Bottom row (from left) is Nancy (DW of JimC), JimC, Caskbill, Peg (DW or Caskbill).

2nd row is Outerbanks , (??), Dianeschlicht

Top row is LisaS, Spiceycat (?) and DVCJohn

I apologize for any errors and omissions! (I'm sure of Nancy, JimC, Caskbill, Peg, Dianeschlicht, DVC John and LisaS - but uncertain about the others)

BTW- the front gate entrance at OKW has been under rehab for about a month now and one lane of traffic has been diverted to the CM entrance on DVC Drive. Only one lane has been open at the guard shack has been open during this time - and that has been for entering the resort. All buses have been diverted to the other gate when exiting the resort. I'd expect it to be completed soon.

You did well, Doc! The ??? person is Outerbank's wife. Mary was there for awhile too and some other folks (hey, it's been 5 days, I can't remember who all was there), but we didn't take the picture early enough to get everyone.

The roadwork at OKW ended that night and Monday everything was back to normal. I have no idea what they were doing, but using the service entrance was a royal pain!

I honestly can't believe you said this. The people you're referring to are some of the most respected DIS'ers/DVC'ers on the boards. I'd be happy to meet up with any one of them.

What a great group of DVC/DISers I got to meet - yup I was there before the pic was taken but had to run off to dinner with some friends. Thanks again Diane for getting all of us together - it sure was nice to meet everyone in person!

I think you are going overboard with this. It isn't a knock on those in the photo. I respect each and every one of them.

What I meant and I think crisi meant ( I'll look for her exact words and post here) is that a bunch of DVCers together with the name tags, pins etc. can be scary to some.

Call me crazy but there is something about a pin wearing WDW nut that seems a little scary. :confused3

BTW 'cause it was MOUSEFEST, there were lots of people wearing badges, pins, lanyards, and LGMH all over the parks and resorts.

Me too ! And dumbo's first post is a little more softened now that he/she has clarified what they meant by it, because I don't think many of us "got" what he was saying since it was out of context.
Heck.....I've been known to wear buttons/tags myself on occasion while in WDW ! And someone pointed out it was Mousefest and a specific board meet. So sign me up for the "scary club" as well ! :cheer2: :banana: :dance3:
