Sky+ box lost all the recorded programmes. Spent 15 minutes waiting to get through to technical services.
Did the usual re-set the box. Then was talked through a complete system re-set.
Upshot is we have a hard disk fault which surprise, surprise is now not in warrenty. They want £65 call-out to come and look at it. Of course we would have to spend all day waiting in for engineer. :furious:

Think I'll be cheaper buying a 2nd hand box :teeth:

Our Sky+ works fine, however.....

As we are now out of our initial 12 month contract when we move we are cancelling it and getting a new one in my name which should be free as they usually have offers on in January but they would charge us for transferring our existing contract.

So long as you can watch Sky at the monent I would be tempted to wait until they have offers on and do what we are doing or threaten to cancel your contract, they cave like a row of dominoes when you do that!

It is fairly easy to install a new hard drive in a sky+ box.
A Guy I work with fitted a 250Gb drive and has had no problems.

Reid, mine went about 4 months ago and it was a month out of warrenty, they also wanted to charge me £65.00 for a call out, so I told them I wanted to cancel my subscription and thought I would get a free view box instead, I dont really watch that much tv, and although I would have missed sky+, I thought rather than pay another £65.00 thats what I would do. However when I told them that, they asked me to hang on while they put me through to a different department, I did, then a different woman came on, I told her the issue and she said not to worry, they didnt want to lose my custom and would send an engineer out for free.

It resulted in a new sky+ box and another years warrenty :thumbsup2 Same thing happened to my dad and he also refused to pay £65.00, however they told him as he was an oap they would fix it for £20.00!!! I think they make the rules up as they go along.

Yes, it's very easy to replace the harddrive. If you can do it on a PC you'll have no trouble with your sky+ box. :thumbsup2

Changing a HDD in a Sky+ box is easy ... I'd give it a go before paying £65 for one of their muppets to come out.

Carol ~ You must of been in the wine cabinet again? :teeth: :rotfl2:

Seriously, good luck fixing it Reid. Ours works but occasionally we lose the signal. That might be due to weather though.. :rotfl:
