They haven't been very flattering on tripadvisor. I know to take everything with a grain of salt, but just how noisy is it there?
Where should I request to be to avoid this? I don't want to be awake all night!

I have stayed at HoJo that last three times we have been to Anaheim and never ever have I had a problem with noise. We were there two weeks ago and our room was in the tower directly beside the freeway and I still wasn't bothered. The HoJo is a fabulous hotel, and I would recommend it to anyone. However if you want to be positive that you won't be bothered by any noise request a room facing the park or specify that you need a quiet room. The HoJo is a clean hotel with friendly staff. The only issue I encountered there was this last trip, we would return to the hotel in the afternoon to change clothes our room was already cleaned. So I began to undress and inwalks a maid. She didn't even knock on the door, she just barged in. This happened not once but twice and both times the rooms were already cleaned so they had no need to come into the room. I complained at the lobby and after that no more problems. HoJo is a great place to stay.

Ask for a room facing "away" from the freeway, preferably close to the main pool and office area.

The rooms on the freeway side are the ones with noise issues - not horrible noise issues, but you can hear the freeway traffic whipping past throughout the night. Kinda of a constant whoosh...whoosh...whoosh...whoosh...

Some people are greatly bothered by the freeway noise (me), and others don't even notice it (DH).

Still, it's a very nice and decent place to stay. :thumbsup2

We have stayed at the HOJO for many years for our summer vacations. We have stayed once on the freeway side. It did not bother us at all. They have two doors before you can even get to the balcony. We live by major street so, it may be that we are used to the constant car sound.

We stayed there in October and requested a room away from the freeway, we had a great room and a fun time. You will enjoy staying there.

Thanks! I was getting worried! Started to think I should have paid more and stayed at the Sheraton!

We had a room facing the freeway and right next to the elevators. The noise form the elevators was terrible. We asked the next morning if we could be moved, and were given a lovely quiet room by the pool.

We stayed there in November and it was fine! We had a room facing the pool area, and it was nice and quiet.

Building two is very quiet on the side facing the pool.

If you have issues with light waking you up too early make sure to ask for a room withOUT a skylight. I've read on another board that the skylight was an issue, the room does not darken during the day and they woke too ealry in mornings.
I liked the skylight room we had, waking to the light is very nice vs an annoying alarm clock!

I stayed about 1 month ago and it was not a problem at all. Our window faced part of DL and part of the freeway (the 5) and it wasnt that busy at all. The loudest thing would be the fireworks. Have fun!

BTW we stayed in building #2 on the top floor. For the price we paid I thought it was well worth it and a nice hotel.

Yes, that skylight can be very annoying! I didn't have any issues with noise in Building 5, but I had a skylight, and bright sun at 6:00 in the morning didn't thrill me.

We stayed there X-mas last year. Thought it was a bit pricey since they don't serve any breakfast but it was pretty quiet, clean and nice. We have no complaints. The only downside is the distance which is not that much but we prefer to be closer to the gate.

Well I got it on a BCAA special for $234 for 3 nights including all taxes, so the price is right. We rarely end up having the cont. breakfast anyway, and prefer to get Mickey pancakes and stuff in the park, plus I have one character brekkie reserved. So the price is right, but part of me is wishing I had spent the extra $100 and gone with the Sheraton now.

Don't be sorry. It will be an experience. I'm sure you will have no problems at all. Be optimistic. Besides, that's only one part of your Disney trip and who ends ups spending that much time in the hotel anyway.

Lollipops Mom:

If you'd like to email me your reservation information I'd be happy to see that you receive a quiet room :) . I have also passed along the concerns above regarding the maids to our Executive Housekeeper. We really do want our Guests to have a comfortable stay.

Jonathon,
I noticed that you guys keep up on the all the boards, not just this one. We have our first stay with you coming 1/30 for four nights and are really looking forward to it. It is nice to know you guys are interested in what people have to say and take their concerns to heart.

I think it's great that HojoAnaheim is always around. I had a great stay there earlier this year (6/06) and the only thing I wish they had is a heated pool. The main pool near Building 4 was pretty brrrrr last June. I spent a lot of time in the wading pool where the kiddies were splashing around.

The main pool was just too darn cold!!

The pool closest to building one was heated (I believe). It was very warm if it wasn't heated...
