I have tried to stay out of it..and not get stressed out like I do with my boys when they try out for their travel teams....but DD13 after not playing basketball for 2 years, tried out for the middle school basketball team over the past week and a half.. verdict came in tonight...
SHE MADE IT!!!
Now, I will have all 5 kids playing basketball this year! :)

:rotfl: Funny you asked that.. DH and I were just asking ourselves.. I know when SS, DS10 & DS6 play already.. they are givens (even though littlest doesn't start til after the holidays, DH and I are on the basketball board and we just scheduled the games last weekend)... SS15 has his games already..and I'll be able to pull DD's tomorrow...I didn't want to look until I knew she made it... So, I'll have a better idea about that tomorrow!

YEAH!!!!
That is so exciting! Although my first thought was also...HOW???????
Since we are bragging, DS12 just got second chair in band (he plays saxophone) and even though he has only been playing since September he only missed first chair by 0.4 points. Not an athelete, but a really good band geek! :rotfl2:

Since we're sharing I just wanted to add that my children survived another day. I swear sometimes they won't make it to xmas in 1 piece. LOL :rotfl2:
DS10 finished his report on the Leni Lenape tribe early!!! :cheer2: I can celebrate the small miracles too right?! They are our family tribe which is a branch of the Delaware tribe. it was cool to because the teacher was going to pick the kids tribes but she let us do our own. I love DS10's teacher!
On a serious note DS5 went to the DRs. today and has bronchitis, again. so he's out of school for the rest of the week. It is running like wildfire through the school. Hopefully over vacation they will disinfect the school.
That's it from this end. DH comes home tomorrow and he's pushing to not go to Belgium the week before xmas.

CONGRATULATIONS, Nancy! Tell her that's wonderful!!! :cheer2: You are going to be basketball  by the time this season is over!!
So, do we need to do a basketball swap just to cover all of your pics?? ;)
B&MB. . .congratulations to you on the survival of your children! That made me laugh! :rotfl2: The report on the tribes does sound neat, though! Also, I hope your DS feels better!!
KAMommy. . .congrats again to A!! I can't wait to hear this concert next week!! :thumbsup2

Hey! That is a big accomplishment for him only playing since September!! Congrats!!! DD is in band too.. (which reminds me..concert next week I think.. just another tally to the already colored dry erase board which is in need of an major update).. DD is 3rd chair for clarinet.. three way tie...for first technically!

Buffy, that is a major accomplishment... I have those days too!!! Believe me.. WE are making our countdown chain to Christmas tomorrow night... I also threatened a countdown chain to losing Christmas too... Boy, did they start behaving than!
OH! Great for DS10 getting that project done early!!! That must have been a great project to do!!! We do our Native American chapter when we return to school in September.. They have awhole day of it.. Eating buffalo meat, corn puffs (I have made them for the 5th grade class for 3 years, this is my last year and they are trying to recruit me to stay on even though I have no kids in that grade level any more, lol). The kids build a long house too..
Bronchitis! Oh NO!! We have the sniffles and runny noses..an that is so on my nerves right now... I have now started carrying their meds in when I wake them up so I don't forget to give it to them in the morning rush!
Well, I hope DH gets out of the Belgium trip!!! ;)

YAY for all the great kids! Nancy, you are going to be crazy, but it sounds like fun! DD must be thrilled! KAM, Congrats to your band geek!
I can relate Buffy, some days I don't think mine will make it...Guilted my kid BIG TIME this am... Hanging my head in shame... :sad2: My DS14 got the "Mommy Rant" (sad to say but that is what it is called at my house) on the way to car pool... OK, so who remembers the movie Baby Boom? At the park, the frantic mommy who was so upset because her daughter didn't get into the "right" preschool, and so will never get in the "right" kindergarten, or the "right" grade school, never mind the "right" highschool, and no possible hope of an Ivy League College...yeah, well, I sounded like her this morning... AND added that I could take a Disney Cruise EVERY YEAR for what I'm paying to send him to THAT high school...
:tiptoe: Bad Mommy...bad bad mommy :sad2:

Congratulations to everyone and their kids! It is so nice when everyone does something good because it makes the other times bearable! ;) :rolleyes1
My DS, after 1.5 weeks of worrying, crying, and complaining, finally did the weather at his school. Let me explain, the 4th grade does the morning announcements over the TV and the 1st does the weather. They just have to say "Hi, my name is and the weather will be." That is pretty much it. 6 seconds, if that. Well, his teacher asked him everyday if he wanted to do it and he always responded, "No Thanks. Tomorrow". Tomorrow came yesterday and he did it! Because I was subbing I even got to see it (and take a picture of the TV in the room with him!! Boy, I'm such a dork!). I was so proud! :rolleyes1
There you have it! My good news for the day! :)

  Me too!!! I've ad the "if your good we'll do_____" speech before. I have already offically given all of my children the mothers curse. I cursed them each with 3 boys, one like each of them. Now that got their attention! HEHE :rotfl2:

:cool1: For all the kids :cool1:
I'm just happy mine made a whole day of school yester on just yogurt. The poor thing still cannot keep solids down. The amoxacillin (sp?) really did a number on his stomach and did not do a darn thing for his pneumonia. The Omincef seems to be easier, as he didn't barf it up.
Second chair and third chair in band. That is so cool. I really wanted my children to play an instrument, but they have no desire.
Hope your car isn't a leased one Nancy. Can you imagine the miles you are going to rack up?
Hey-look-it's snowing out my window. A driving icky looking snow. Ugh, that'll be fun to drive in today.
Hope everyone's sick little ones feel better before the holidays start in full swing!!

I've done that to DD!!! The boys take their punishments pretty well with little arguement.. but not DD.. boy she'll fight it tooth and nail!! Needless, to say when I complain to my mom.. I get "you were the same way".. Well, Mom, I'm sorry to say but you were sadly mistaken..you must have confused me with your other daughter.. I was the good girl!

Ha! I tell my sister that. I was the good girl, that's why I have two boys and you have THREE girls!!
Mickster, that is soo cool you got a photo of him doing the weather. I wish I had taken more photos.
I still do the bribing, uhm, I mean, rewarding speech. And when that doesn't work, I have done the "mommy rant".

He had some chicken soup with just a few noodles and when he wakes up I'll let him have, yup, more yogurt. And maybe a pudding. We are so not worried about healthy eating right now.

Wow! Congratulations to all the kids! Sorry to hear about the sick ones, that is a bummer this time of the year. DD8 had her choir concert last night and it was really nice. They sounded so angelic. To think I almost didn't let her audition for choir. Bad Mom I know! LOL! She is really doing great.
