I would like to just say that I watched the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show this evening and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Without getting into debates about anorexia and bulimia and model-bashing...did anyone else see it and enjoy it? I mean, you can get into huge, messy, mean convos if you want...I just thought it best to avoid them.

I don't model bash. I love models. I feel bad for them that, in their line of work they have to be so skinny, but I will not really get into that.
I didn't see it, but I love the VS shows.

well on the first post, we are learning about eating disorders in health (and someone in our grade has one) and well you can't have bullemia (most often) and lose weight. so i doubt any of the models that you were watching have bullemia.
not trying to be perfect or cause controversey, just facts.
and only 1 in 100,000 girls actually look like that, so most have to MAKE themselves look like that.
I personally think modeling is kind of stupid. :confused3

You're wrong on both counts.
around two thousand women in america DIE every year from bullimia nervosa and annorexia nervosa. Those are only the deaths. there are thousands on thousands of men AND women in america and all over the world with eating disorders to look like that. And models make up a good part of that.
You typically have to be a size 2-00 in america to become a model. Now I know someone is going to quote me and post "no, so and so is a size 4 and a model for so and so company." but yeah, these are averages. Thin is in, and models and actresses are paid to be thin. Now I know of several lines who have only plus size models. which is a good thing, but a recent one. I remember several years ago, you NEVER saw a plus size model.
You DO lose weight with bullimia, and bullimia often goes hand in hand with annorexia nervosa. Bullima is where you binge and purge. you gain and lose weight. its called weight cycling and it kills your metabolism. You will get to a point where you will no longer lose weight, and thats where the annorexia kicks in. Starvation causes weight loss.

I really love models. I love the whole idea of modeling. It started in 1800s France where women of stature would get a male escort to take them to stores and instead of looking on shelves, women would come out wearing what the store owner believed the woman would like to purchase.
(if you are interested in this, there is a clip of it in The Moulin Rouge, 1957. Its a really accurate portrayal.)

That's not true. You DO lose weight, but it's at a cost. And even if it WAS true, they could photoshop the pictues to make the models thinner anyway.

Photoshop. My computer teacher said that almost everything is photoshopped on the internet and magazines. (I do not, however, know that this is true.)

Your teacher is correct.
I'll try to dig up the link. There is a website that shows how very photoshopped some pictures are.
edit.
go here, and view the pictures. (http://www.idigitdesign.com/blog/2006/10/20/the-photoshop-art-of-beauty/)

I love models.
Absolutely love looking at their photos.
Of course there are rules for being one though (these are just what I see, some of them are true, some of them aren't)
-Flat
-Good Skin
-Skinny
-Tall
-Few curves
-Skinny legs
- Your face has to be pretty, and different from others. Models generally don't model if they have a boring face.
I do feel sorry for models who believe they have to puke themselves into being skinny, or eating nothing. I think models should be naturally thin people, with good self-esteem. I have no problem with not naturally people modelling, but they should try to lose weight in a healthy way. Though, I think people start off doing it healthy and just get bored with it and just jump to dieting.
I think Gemma Ward is absolutely beautiful. Her skin is pretty, and she has a babydoll face. Her skin wraps around her bones perfectly, she is skinny, but she doesn't look anorexic.
Same goes for Cintia Dicker.

I put a lot of weight into a pretty face. I can pretty much find something attractive about anyone, and I love to compliment people, but most of the things you've listed are things that I don't find attractive. I think curvy women are attractive, and women with stronger looking legs. Tall is okay, but not really if you're wearing heels, theres a thin line between thin and too thin, and good skin is usually photoshopped in.
I really wish model didn't have to go by those guidelines and some "real" shaped women would get up on the catwalk.

I know it's sad Shelby, I know is. I don't find most of those things I listed attractive either. But, from what I've observed that's how it is.
But I'd like to say modeling is more than a pretty face and a perfect body. It's your ability show you emotions in photos, how you make the clothes your wearing look better than they are, your personality & likability, to hold poise on the catwalk, etc.

Poise and grace...that's a huge attraction for me to modeling...
