I'm currently looking at possible DVC membership and what option is best for me - buy now or wait until AKL villas opens (which we really like the sound of). I'm swaying towards the buy now option because of the savings but it would be useful if someone could answer this for me:
If I buy into DVC now with Saratoga Springs as my 'home' and buy some top up points for AKL Villas when they are available, will this mean that I have a 'home' at both SSR and AKL so could book either of these 11 months ahead? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
:thanks:

Yes, it means exactly that. You will be able to book either resort at the 11 month window - but only using points from that resort. If you need to combine points from both resorts to book a vacation at any resort, you will need to wait until the 7 month window. Hope that makes sense.

Not a dumb question at all - it's often asked ;)

If you have 150 SSR points and 50 points at AKV, then you would have home 11 month advantage with the points assigned to that resort only. So only 50 points home advantage at AKV would still mean you could book up to 100 points' worth of stays every other year at the 11-month window at AKV by borrowing, or, if you timed it right, up to 150 points' worth by banking and borrowing.

At 7 months out, you could of course use your SSR points to book AKV subject to availability.

I hope this helps.
