We'll be going to US/IOA as well as WDW this trip. Disney offers in-park character meals as well as some "themed" restaurants (Sci-Fi Dine-In)...where can we take the kids to eat at US/IOA that is fun and themed? I think the only character meals are at the hotels. Should I just plan to eat ordinary fast-food and save all of our "fun"meals for Disney? Our kids are DS 5, DD 3 and DD 1. Thanks!

we like the atmosphere and food at Mythos and the atmosphere at Monster Cafe. NASCAR cafe at city walk could be fun if any of them like cars.

What kind of character dining is available in the hotels?

At Universal Studios, Monsters Cafe is a good choice, as long as they are not upset by things like mummies and the Frankenstein monster. There are quite a few rooms, each with a different theme. Maybe you could prep them by having them watch "The Munsters" on TV Land.

At IoA, Mythos is wonderful, and Circus McGurkus would be a great choice. And although I mentioned Enchanted Oak being dark in another thread, if the kids are not bothered by that, they will probably think it's very cool and fun to be eating *inside*a tree. There are also some tables out back. The Burger Digs in Jurassic Park is another option.

By the way, I think the food at both Uni parks is quite good, and CityWalk also offers some fun dining. I really like the food at Pastamore.

Circus McGurkus would be our best choice for "fun" restaurants. I'm pretty sure there are some sort of preformances in it. There is a stage, but I don't know if it's used because I rarely eat there.

When we were at USF in sept, 2000, they had a birthday party every afternoon at circus mcgurkus, they gave out cake, had a guy playing the organ and singing...It was alot of fun for young kids, my DD was 7 and she loved it!!!! There were a few suess characters there too, the grinch, the cat in the hat, thing 1 and thing 2....we didnt see the show this past august, but maybe we'll catch it again in january.
