For those who knew Mr. Kent:
Beloved Disney Designer Dies - Ralph Kent, a veteran Disney artist who designed the first limited-edition Mickey Mouse watch and helped secure the character's iconic global image, has died from complications due to esophageal cancer, the company said. He was 68.
Kent, who retired from the Walt Disney Co. in May 2004 after 41 years as an artist and merchandise designer, died Monday at his central Florida home.
"Ralph was a real pixie - a big guy with a soft manner and always a warm smile," said Marty Sklar, a Walt Disney Imagineering executive vice president. "He said he 'fell under the spell' of Disney when he saw 'Pinocchio' ... It was fitting that Ralph capped his Disney years as a trainer, mentoring new artists and creating a reference collection of character model sheets."
Kent taught new artists how to draw Mickey Mouse and other classic characters and explained their personalities and how they should interact with each other. Kent also helped popularize classic attractions such as Disney's "Jungle Cruise."
The company credits him with creating many of its "most memorable souvenirs," including a 1965 limited-edition Mickey Mouse watch for adults. Walt Disney was so fond of Kent's creation he gave it to his executives.
Born in New York in 1939, Kent became fascinated with Disney characters at age 10 and studied art at the University of Buffalo after receiving an encouraging response from a letter he sent to Walt Disney. He joined the company in 1963. He was named a Disney Legend in 2004. Kent is survived by his wife, Linda, two daughters and three stepsons.

Hello all DVC Sailers pirate:
I am new to this great group. DH and I have sailed with Disney 7 times and we are very excited about our first DVC member cruise. We have always used our points on other disney adventures and my college age DK's are upset about being left at home. We are happy to be sailing and cannot wait.
On the Panama Canal cruise (East to West) we noticed the DisBoards had a fish extender program! I was wondering if this would be occuring on this cruise as well. If so how does it work and how many gifts should I be prepared for?
We will be staying at the Radisson Port on 9/20/07 and would love to meet other DisBoards members. Also we look forward, to the DisBoards meet on board the Wonder.

Kay-
That new banking system is discussed on the DVC boards and is in the new vacation magic.
Basically you have to bank all or nothing now, no 50%, 25% or whatever. BUT you get an extra 2 months to do that. You have up until 4 months before the end of your UY to bank all your points.
For me I have a June UY, I had to bank 100% by November 30th under the currentl system. Then after that it would be 50% or 25% or whatever. Starting in January I will have until January 31st to bank 100% of my points, but after that I can't bank any at all. It will be an all or nothing type thing.

I think Amanda or Annette mentioned doing the fish extender exchange. Not sure if there were any takers or not.
What does everyone think? Those who have done it before how did it work and what type of things did you exchange. As I've said before our gifts have always been the buttons and we pass them out at the meet but would love to hear from others.

Banking? whats that? HAHA. We tend to borrow more than bank. I don't think in the 5 years we have had DVC that we have ever banked. Maybe developer points at the beginning but not since.
I posted about doing the fish extenders last week. So if any one is game, we would like to participate.

Hi guys!!! I don't think we will be able to do a party in the parking lot either, though it sounds like a lot of fun. We are leaning toward the Disney bus.
I finally found a thread about what the fish extenders are. It's here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607&highlight=fish+extenders for anybody like me who was confused :confused3 We would definitely be in for this. What a great idea.
Anyway, quickie post 'cause I just gotta get to bed. Early wake up tomorrow. In one month we'll be in WDW - I'm happy! :yay: :yay: http://hometown.aol.com/kabob1966/images/yay.gif

So have we started a Fish Extenders list yet? I'm not sure if I missed that or if it had happened yet?
our youngest (12) is going into the hospital tomorrow for a NG feeding tube. Seems food or something is aggravating her stomach and the scope procedure showed a nasty tummy lining. So she'll go several weeks with just liquid diet through the tube and hopefully that will help. We should be home Wednesday evening.
DMIL is going to help me sew something resembling a FE. Hope it's up to par.

I know normally on the 4 night cruise there normally is no formal night but the DVC website is talking about a formal ball in the Atrium one night. I am thinking about just wearing a dress shirt and slacks are others dressing up? What about the people who never read the article?
Here is what is says for Day 3 on the DVC Cruise Site:
Then in the evening, honor Disney's greatest contributors at our Legends Ball. This elegant affair promises to sparkle so don your finest gowns and formal wear and join us in the ship's atrium. You'll enjoy music and dancing as you mingle with other Members and revel in a host of surprises. It's the perfect way to honor Disney greatness, so don't miss this glittering event.

Good morning everyone!
Tom & Diana - yes we saw the posting about the Legends Ball. We were all talking about it about a week ago. General feeling is some are dressing up more than originally planned while others aren't. I don't think anyone is planning to go full formal like Tux's and gowns. I think everyone is looking forward to it.

Hi Diana and Tom:
Was taking about you last week w/my sister when I was in Orlando before we left for the Wonder. Were your ears burning??????????? ha ha
We were at VWL - love that place
yep, there are mixed emotions about the BAll. I was standing on Deck 4 overlooking the Atrium this past weekend and saying "no way". It looked so small. No one will be seeing what you wear anyways - there will be so many people around.

YES the staterooms have hairdryers. I have really thick hair. I about burn my hand though before my hair is dry. They tend to get "hot" as they are not the traditional hair dryer that we are used to.

You can go to this link to find the origin of the fish extender as well as pictures of the original and then variations of the extender as people started making them once the originals were no longer available. It has become quite a phenomenon on some of the Disney Cruises we have been on. Fish extender contests, tours around to all the stateroom doors to look at them, gifts, etc.

If you bring you own hair dryer, bring a small outlet strip. Our hair dryer plug doesn't fit the outlets on the ship.

I remember hair driers on the Magic in Jan 2005...
I can't believe we're only about a month away! I've sent the kids to grandparents for the day to organize my closet so I'll be able to pack... I don't get that kind of cleaning done usually as a homeschool mom, but when they go to their grandma and grandpa's for a day or two, I can get all sorts of organizing done. :woohoo: Problem is, I'm years behind :rolleyes1
Hoping to have a more regular (though even more busy) schedule now that school semester activities are started so I can check in here from time to time. Bummed to learn of launch delay but now, rather than heading for Port Canaveral early for the launch and avoidance of traffic, we can stay in WDW for the afternoon meet pre-cruise. :thumbsup2

I'm trying to catch up somewhat - so now I've got a few questions. I'm sure I'll find more questions and answers and ideas as I read further back too.
Dressing up - am going on 40th Bday (cheap long-weekend with "the girls" only) cruise soon so have a dress I bought for that. It will be worn at V&A prior to cruise, at Palo and I suppose at the DVC evening event about which I have not even read. Sounds like it may be all I have to pack ;) I seem to have missed a DVC member cruise email but will go to our DVC link to read it...
I need to make a funky fish extender...
What time is the parking lot party? I don't think we'll be there early enough since we're leaving the car at the Sheraton at the Port and are reserved on the earliest shuttle to Port Canaveral - no idea (yet) what time that will be or if I can even get from shuttle drop off to the super-secret-double-probation early arrival DVC party parking lot!
Gifts - found a few vague references, but am just not "getting it." I am not technically savvy enough to make buttons. Can someone please give me some ideas of what has and has not been done in the past and where do I find a list of everyone. (...tell me I don't have to keep a running list as I read the board  ) more later as I get caught up...

Hi to all DVC Cruisers pirate:
Are we ready to leave now, instead of a month from now :hourglass ?
From the response, it looks like there is interest in doing the fish extenders. Sounds like fun! I would be willing to keep a log/list of all staterooms and people who are participating in the program. This will help us know the amount of fish food needed.
If this is acceptable to everyone. I am asking that you e-mail me at themallons@aol.com if you would like to particpate. The catch will be reeled in on October 7, 2007.
Please e-mail me your stateroom and number of fish extenders per stateroom. :grouphug: After 10/7/07, I will email the respondents with a list of participating cruisers so we can know the amount of surprises to pack.
Let's make this a great fishing expedition!
If you have any suggestions, I am open to hear them as this is new to me as well!
Thank you,
Pauline

Good morning everyone!
Hopefully I can help with a few questions here.
1) The parking lot party isn't really a party. More of a lets not sit in our cars and wait when we could be standing in the parking lot and talking to other DISers. :lmao: Please don't think you are missing anything big.
Fish extenders and gifts. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. The fish extender is just for fun. Outside each stateroom is a message fish. It is where DCL will leave you little notes if needed. The extenders hang from them (thus the name fish extenders) and some DIS groups have started exchanging little gifts to the DIS families in their fish extenders. I think some of the things exchanged are magnets, pens, pirate goodies, candy, etc. You mentioned buttons and I think that comes from my comment that our buttons are the gift we give to all the DISers whether they have a fish extender or not. We give them out at the meets and they are personalized with your DIS name and real name. It is a way for other DISers to recognize each other (assuming of course you wear it - we like to wear ours right on our lanyard so we don't have to put any holes in our clothes). So we'll have our fish extender out but our gift (the buttons will be given out earlier).
Hope that helps.

Question..on the fish extenders. Can you explain on what you mean by how many fish extenders per state room. Wouldn't there only be one perstateroom. Or do you mean how many people?

NOrmally there is one fix extender per room, but you can have as many as you want - doesn't mean there will be all full :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I will be bringing some of the yellow electrical strips so that you can secure the fish extender outside your room - Some of them have been know to float away at times. Easily removed at the end of the cruise

I have done some reading on these guys and they should have great sessions. They do not live up to the build up given them by DVC. Adding a formal night late in the planning time and making it sound like someone like a Roy Disney or Julie Andrews type of person, not guys that we sound like owls saying who? This kind of stuff is very aggravating. It is really killing my excitement. DVC is failing so far, compare to its hype.

If it is Julie Andrews will someone please promise to pick me up of the floor? I really like her and will really probably keel over if she is there.
When I was reading the whole Legends thing and the ball I thought too that they have to have someone pretty exciting coming on board.
Side note: I ordered some pirate costumes for my mom and aunt to wear for the pirate party and they came in tonight. Showed mom hers and she liked it. My aunt won't get to see hers until a few days before we leave (she lives elsewhere and is flying up here so we can all go out to FL together). Keep your fingers crossed she likes hers too!

Good morning everyone!
A few things to keep in mind about DVC and these cruises. They like to have surprises and they don't tell us everything up front.
Hear Tim ask the questions and garner the stories you want to hear from our Disney Legends.
We are definately having more than one Disney Legend. Here is a breakdown of the guests we found out about last year so you can see a timeline. Remember the sailing date was pretty much the same.
8/30 Jason Surrell Disney Imagineer was announced
9/28 Bonnie St. John Inspirational Speaker was announced
10/17 (yes 3 days before the cruise) Jennifer Hudson, Jodi Benson and Michael Collier - WDW Ambassador were announced. In this e-mail it was hinted at another guest and that it might be a member of the Disney family but we didn't know Roy would be on board until we got to the cruise.
DVC has always provided a very special musical performance. Last year it was Jennifer Hudson and Jodi Benson, the year before Susan Egan and in 2003 it was Andrea McArdle. I'm confident they will have someone special this year as well.
Of course what each person is going to be thrilled with is going to be different. For me I love to hear the Imagineers and Ambassadors talk. Sadly sometimes their presentations are the least attended. We didn't go to every presernters presentation but I have totally enjoyed all the ones I have been too and know they were all ones very few people get to see.

Morning all,
It's been very busy at work these days. Our company has been sold so it's like going through a year end audit in Sept. UGH.
I really haven't heard of either of those two speakers so I am looking forward to hearing them.
Hope all is well, we are supposed to be getting some bad weather this week end from what ever they are calling this non tropical storm!!!
have a great thursday.

I am looking forward to Marty Sklar! I just hope his presentation isn't during our Palo brunch.
I love the surprises. I am 50/50 on knowing vs. not knowing.
I can't believe how close we are to going. I should start my packing list.
I ordered the tix for MNSSHP on the 18th. Anyone else going that night?
Today is my day off, so that means cleaning and errands.
Oh, and working on our fish extender.
I'm too excited to sleep!! :goodvibes

Yes it is but I've been a Thomas Kincaide fan for years and drooled over his Disneyland print. I'm considering it an anniversary gift since our anniversary is one week from then.

Hi,
Curious, where did you get your cosutumes from? I have been looking around but haven't found anything I like yet?
Thanks!
First I did a Google search looking just for pictures to get ideas. Try a search on Google like "pirate costume adult". Once you get your search results back click on the Images link in the top left of the Google page. This will take you to pages of image results - this is really nice feature to use when looking for stuff like costumes. You can scan thru photos of things at a bunch of sites at once.
Other good search terms to try: "peasant costume" or "rennaissance costume" (will bring up ren faire costumes that, with the right accessories work well for pirates). Also try looking up "tavern maid costume" or "tavern wench costume" - a lot of these will be good women pirates.
Once I found a few things I liked at various stores I headed over to eBay looking for some good deals - On my mom and aunts outfits I found them cheaper on eBay. For my outfit I found one part cheaper at an online store and the other part cheaper on eBay.
My mom would rather gnaw off her own arm than wear a dress so I found her an Elizabeth Swann pirate outfit on eBay. I think this was out last halloween, I have not seen it in any stores this year (so far).
http://www.buypiratecostumes.com/uploads/elizabeth_swann_pirate_cost.jpg
My aunt however will wear a dress and is very outgoing person. So for her a tavern maid type of costume (we will add a few piratey bits like a baldric maybe) was perfect for her:
http://i2.ebayimg.com/05/i/000/af/00/35ff_1.JPG
I could not find any standard costume I liked for me and I didn't want to wear a dress either. So I am putting various bits and pieces together. So far I have these pieces ordered and just need to get a couple of accessories.

Hi everyone:
I know this is OT - but have to share this.
My son, Kim, is in Iraq for about 1-1/2 years now and he will be home very, very soon. My heart aches until he returns safely.
Here is a pic he sent to us yesterday.
(thanks for letting me share) (I'll be on the cruise when he arrives in the States - boo hoo)

Our family is from Dothan. I have two relatives that work on the helicopters there. It's about 1 1/2 hrs to Destin or PC so that will be a nice break (though not as nice as Hawaii). We're 3 hrs from there so we go about every 6 months or so. DM is headed there this weekend for her high school reunion.

Thank you,
Pauline
So how are we doing on the Fish Extenders. I was going to go this weekend and get the stuff to make them, but wanted to make sure we are on and we are FISHING:woohoo:

YEAH!!!! I was right! Marty Sklar is a GREAT choice and a WONDERFUL addition to the DVC cruise. We met him, and Tim O'Day, at the 50th Event at Disneyland. These are the greats, guys! Tim O'Day has an amazing personality, too, I might add.
Marty was one of the originals alongside Walt in the early days of building the Disney name - he has put very influential footprints on the Disney brand (parks and animation).
Tim O'Day co-wrote a book called Disneyland: Then and Now which is an amazing read. This guy can tell you everything about that park (I'm partial to it since it's in my backyard). His personality is the greatest part of him though. I know everyone who meets him will come away with a warm feeling.
I'm excited about this news. My husband was hoping for Olszewski, too, because he wants a miniature replica of the ship - hint, hint, Disney, if you're reading... but he's still happy with this news.
:cool1:
Congrats to Kay that Kim is coming home!!! :cheer2: Can't say enough THANK YOUS to all of the military families for the brave sacrifices you make. :thumbsup2
Fishy fishy - I'll email you Pauline. Thanks for putting it together. I'll have to come up with something clever now.
We went to Disneyland yesterday and rode on Nemo for the first time - lines were too long before, but yesterday it was only a 45 minute wait (of course, the rest of the rides were walk ons :confused3 ). What a fun ride!! Don't think I'll wait more than 30 minutes for it again, but it was a cute ride put together very well. Loved the animations. It was just so nice to be able to step foot in the subs and submerge in the lagoon again.
We leave in 21 days!!! :yay: Can't wait! :woohoo:

I want to echo Joanne's post on a few counts.
1) if you are having doubts about linking dining please don't It is a lot of fun. Even if you have a full table or want a table for just your family you can asked to be linked and seated with the group but at your own table.
2) this is the last week for buttons as well. If you haven't sent your info in please do so now. If you are unsure check out the group web page. If I have the info for you and your family in the gallery then you are set for buttons.
One last thing and this is more for first time cruisers. Back before the 2005 Member Cruise I started doing a "tip of the day" on the thread. Some of the cruisers asked me to compile them in one document which I did. A copy of the document is also on the group web page. Hopefully it will help some new first time cruisers for this cruise.

ha ha - far from expert but do have a lot of fun.
Let's see - first off, even little things might add up to more $$'s than not 'cause $$'s do add up, as we know.
On other cruises, people have got to the M & M site and ordered a small package of M & M's with names on them. like the first name of the person giving them out - like I would put Kay or KR on them.
Maybe a little flag from the $1 store - that would be a good place to go to find small items. Maybe a package of a dozen or so would be $1. That would go a long way.
Make up a postcard on the computer with a pic of your choice and your name beneath the picture.
Little pieces of bubble gum or piece of candy for each person in the room.
How about buying CD's in bulk at Office Depot and burning some Disney songs on them. That would be real fun to do and just your time in burning them.
I'll think some more and post later - DD is coming up for b/fast and I have to get ready.

But, I don't think I have ever gotten there early and not been able to check in. Guess it just depends on many factors.
Last week Linda and I got to VWL at 10 am and we were able to get our room right away.
It is sure worth a try to go ahead and check in and see if they happen to have rooms available. That might be a bad w/end to get it early.
I think they might be busy that week. But I would sure try.
In any event you can use the pools and they will hold your luggage for you. That is no problem at all.

There is no problem with them letting you check in early. The resort I believe is full. Alot of us DVCers have a tendency to stay closer to check out time, so room available may not happen. You can use the pools and any of the activities they have there. SSR is a great resort like all the DVC resorts.

I am guessing some of you are aware of the photopass and use it.
Has anyone heard of prepurchasing the CD? Also I just read a suggestin the other day, about getting a group together to pre-purchase the CD and everyones pictures would be on it and it would be cheaper.
Example:
if four families said they all want to do it, then the cost would be split by 4 - but EVERYONES pictures would be on the CD. But it would seem like it would be worth it and also if it was fellow Dis'rs then we would probably know them anyway.
Has anyone already done this? Anyone interested. I can find out more info.
I saw another group doing it on tourguidemike and they were down to only $30.00 a piece and you get all the pics on the CD.

HI Joan
Nancy and I were talking this morning that we should check our flights for the 19th. It't a good thing we did I flights had been changed and Priceline didn't let us know unless I deleted by mistake or it went into our spam folder which I keep cleaned out . Any we call Delta and thank god we are all set with the new flight times. After getting our new flight numbers we had to call Disney Magical to give them our new flight numbers. Im glad I thought about doing that this morning.

Tiggerguy, we love NWFL. We live 5 minutes from the beach. The air force sent us here. Once the kids got to be middle school age we decided to stay. They moved around enough in elementary school. The beaches are beautiful and the people are very nice. We have very little crime and drugs. The only down side is the lack of good jobs, the Airforce is the main employer, and of course hurricanes. We have been lucky the last 2 summers. My boys loved growing up on the beach, they surf some, lots of their friends have boats and jet skis. They just spend all summer on the beach. We have been here since 94. It took me a while to find a good job. I do accounting.
You should come up this way and look at Destin, Fort Walton, Panama City.

Hey all DCL Crusiers
So far, I have seven fishermen committed to the expedition
Some of those individuals who have responded, have not provided their stateroom number. If you are interested in being part of the Disboard fishing expedition, please e-mail me at themallons@aol.com. So I can update my list which I will share with you after October 7, 2007.
Info needed includes name, stateroom number and number of fe's. If you need information about the fe history, there is a great website that has directions on how to make a fe to create you own "wonder"ful fe. The website is part of the Disboards discussion forum, just search for fish extender.
For my fish extender "bait", I was thinking of bringing something that Buffalo is famous for but since the temperature at Castaway Cay is 79 degrees, I don't think southwest airlines would appreciate melting snowballs. Anybody have a desire for snow? I have another idea that is cooking!
Kay, congratulations on your son coming home! Like everyone else, I felt like an owl when they announced the disney legend and ambassador. I did some research and I am getting more excited about the legends. I wonder who else will be there?
DH and I will be dressing up for the ball and I just finished sewing my wench costume pirate:
I am not going to have any room left in my luggage for clothes and other neccessities with all the added stuff we are bring.
Have a great Sunday and Happy 1st day of fall (tears as the snow is coming)!

You'll get the Bahamas forms with your luggage tags and that needs to be filled out as well (since Castaway Cay is in the Bahamas). We just print them out, tuck them in our passports and present them at check in. A few minutes later we have our KTTW cards! Fast and easy!

When we were on the ship in July they were NOT offering photopass. I think they won't move to this option, since they print right on board and that's how they get everyone to buy the packages and pay before they leave. I bet with photopass they would lose a lot of sales.

Posted from another thread:
Disney Cruise Ships Looking to Dock at Tampa Bay - Disney Cruise Line may move some of its ships out of Port Canaveral on Florida's east coast, and executives have looked over Tampa as a possible home. Disney expects to double its fleet to four ships by 2012. The cruise line likes Port Canaveral as it's the closest to Walt Disney World, which is important because many customers combine three-and four-night cruises with stays at the theme parks.
I would like to see a permanent dock at Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale. Less than 10 minutes from my home. :thumbsup2

To all you Disboard veterans,
When the FE's have been done in the past, do the gifts placed in the FE equal the number of people in each stateroom--i.e. if there are 2 people in the stateroom, are 2 gifts put in the FE? or is it just 1 gift per stateroom? If there are 2 friends in a stateroom, is it possible to have 2 FE's? I just want to make certain I have the FE protocol correct..thank you for your reply.

of course, there are no "rules".
Nor the norm is one gift per stateroom.
It is really up to the individual giving the little gifts.
Some people put more $$'s into them than others - so the whole giving thing is just a great surprise.
This is not a mandatory thing and not an obligation on anyone's part

Good morning everyone!
I agree with Kay - there is nothing set as far as the gifts. Over the years some of the things we've gotten have been per person while others have been one per family. I do agree that when there are two or more unrelated people in a room they should each get one. It should all be for fun and nothing anyone stresses over.

I found out more information on the photopass and a couple threads on it.
They do NOT have photopass on the cruise so if you are only going on the cruise this will not be for you.
For anyone who will be at the World before and/or after the cruise here is some information.
This thread: http://www.stitchkingdom.com/photopass/
Explains photopass and how sharing works. Simplified - if the CD is 125.00 and 5 people split the CD, then each person pays only 25.00 for the CD and it has all the photopass pictures on the CD. It will contain your pictures and the other disboard members who share the CD.(prepurchasing the CD is 100.00)
This thread is organizing the groups.

By the way does anyone know if there is a different size limit on the suitcases for the cruise then for the airlines. I have one of those big 31 inch (I think) ones.

I'm really starting to get excited, too! Been thinkin' and thinkin' about what to give out for the fish extenders and how to put one together to hang from our fish. This is one of my favorite kind of things to do and I'm so glad it will be part of our first cruise!!
For the ball, I won't be doing a traditional tux, but I will be dressing formally...http://disneyinvitations.com/images/kilt.gif OMG!! Is that a kilt??!! :faint: I DO love a man in a kilt!!

Don't get too excited about getting your doc booklet. Basically about the only thing worthwhile in the doc package anymore is the luggage tags. Everything else you can get online.
If DCL could come up with a way we could all print our own luggage tags, then they could do away with sending out the package all together!
aphoenix
09-26-2007, 05:30 PM
Funny you should mention that. When we sailed on Carnival last spring, we did print our luggage tags at home. We printed them on a normal sheet of paper that you folded in thirds lengthwise, and then stapled the ends together around your handle. Worked beautifully for us driving to the port, though I don't know if it would hold up to the airport handling.

good morning cruisers
On the eve of our Member Cruise, I am keeping so very busy.
just want to tell you some information on my 1 YO g/baby, Abby.
Here is a pic of her the day of her b/day party - 10 days ago.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b133/disney_gems33/ABBY1STBDAYSEPT2007LINDAHERE001.jpg
I took her to the Dr. yesterday 'cause DD had to be in Homestead. She was giving a Seminar for Verizon. Didn't realize the Dr visit was going to be so very emotional.
Little Abby has a very large red spot around her right breast with a lump beneath the skin. I took her to have it looked at.
As soon as the Dr. saw it he said "oh, we have a very bad problem".
She has Acute Mastitis in the right breast. He drew a black round circle around it and said that if the redness touched the black ring, she would have to be hospitalized NOW.
He gave her a shot of antibotics and a script that I got filled for Karen.
We have an apptm on Friday am at 9:15 and it is more probable than not that they will put her in and either do surgery and/or very strong antibotics.
DD is totally a basket case now and I broke down horribly and could not call her until I calmed down.
We'll see what happens in the next 246 hours. We need prayers and pixie dust.
I googled "infant mastitis" and I didn't like what I read.

I can't believe the weather her in Maine. Yesterday it was 90 here when in normal weather with laeves changing and all it should be in the 60's for the high. I guess we shouldn'd complain. As Nancy said we wll probably have snow on the ground at the end of OCT( NOT )

thanks everyone so so so much.
She slept good last night. Woke up only one time.
One thing that I have been thinking about.
All of us have doggies and our little pets and Abby is around them all the time.
Even tho they are part of each of our families, when the babies are on the floor, the pets come around and give kisses and might lick on the baby bottle or on a toy that they smell the baby on, that is laying on the floor and similar things. I told DD that we must not let that happen anymore. We never know if she got this virus from one of our pets.
Maybe that is far fetched, but I just feel that we have to watch that from here on out.
My mind has been going crazy thinking about different things.

Kay-- Keeping you, your grandbaby, and family in our prayers. I know how horrible your daughter is feeling. One of the twins had surgery early on in her life (2 mths). She, Allison, had pyloric stenosis, blockage of the small intestine and unable to digest food. Ashlynne was diagonised at the same time with renal reflux. She has since "grown out" of it but not until a 1.5 yrs of antibiotics every day and several VCUGs. (I still want to cry when I think of the pain they went through). Needless to say they knew us quite well at LeBonheur Childrens Hospital. :grouphug: to you and yours and to the doctors taking care of our children.

I am starting to panic! This is our first cruise ever and I want to make sure we are totally prepared. I just read another post about Pirate Night. People were complaining because they have late seating and they missed some of the pirate show. We have late seating. My boys (7 and 3) will be so disappointed if we miss part of the show! Is this something I should be worried about? I hear that the dinner that night is really special so I don't want to miss the dining room either! Are we going to miss out on any other shows because we chose late seating?

Well, it looks like Little Abby is doing pretty good right now.
She has a very red bottom from the medicine and upset tummy, but we are taking care of that. She is eating lots of Yogurt and rice and bananas.
If after taking the medicine for 10 full days and if there is still a little/or any "bump" where the infection was, she will have to have minor surgery (what is so minor about a 1 YO being operated on ???? :confused3 :confused3 ) to open it up and drain it out.
She'll go back to daycare next week and I'll go at Noon each day and give her the medicine, as the daycare is not allowed to give medicine. I'll be happy to do that.
But looking at the whole picture, she is good right now.
Thanks to everyone for your good vibes and pixie dust her way.

Good morning everyone!
Joanne - you are right chat is kind of hard to keep up with. If the regular hosts were there I would have suggested a move to another room where it just would have been us. We've done that with other cruise groups. Easier to keep up when there are less people and all talking about the same cruise. However those lucky ladies are on a Celebrity cruise ship heading to Hawaii for a 14 day round trip cruise. They don't get back until right before we leave so I've been hosting the chats for them.

Here are some things from the 2005 cruise:
Some touches inside the ship. This cruise had a special theme each day and that theme is shown in the first ice sculpture.

That would be fun Dave. Anyone have any ideas on days/times that would work best. The only times I couldn't do would be the regular Cruise and DVC chats. Cruise - Fridays at 9pm Eastern and DVC - Sundays at 9pm Eastern. Would a Saturday night or Saturday or Sunday late afternoon/early evening work?
There is a special room for cruise groups so we shouldn't be bothered by others.

Last call for buttons!
We are closing off the list tomorrow. If you have been lurking and haven't sent in your information for DIS buttons you need to do it today. Once the buttons are made we won't be making any more.

Thanx for posting those wonderful pix, Mary!! I can't wait to actually see the ship and experience it all for myself--I've wanted to go on a cruise for soooo long! I am so glad we chose the DVC cruise for our first sea adventure.
I would love a chat set up for a Saturday or Sunday evening--I don't allow anything to interfere with my SciFi Fridays, I'm afraid
Kay, Im so glad to hear Abby is doing better!! Will continue to keep the prayer line open.

Mary those pictures are great. Now I am getting more excited. Will we get Castaway Club gifts also? The extra touches look really nice.
Either late Saturday or Sunday afternoon would be fine with me. We are Saturday night church goers to we don't get home until after 8. Next 's Saturday is out for me though. It's parents week end at FSU.

As of two weeks ago, the CC gift is still the blue and white bag with two flags, two drinking cups and straws, memo pad, ship magnet, red and white mesh bags and two wrist bands, one red and one blue.
maybe they will change it for the member cruise.
some of us have so many of these that it would be nice to change. But if not for the new cruisers, that is all right also.

thanks for all the well wishes and thoughts for Little Abby.
She slept 13 and 1/4 hours last night. Her little body must have been really worn out.
BTW - I am taking her and DD on a 4 night on the Wonder on Dec. 9th. We have Cat. 3 and I am sure that will make her feel much better. :thumbsup2

yep, lots of rain but no big deal - makes me stay inside and "try" to do nothing.
Had many, many auctions ending on e-bay and I need to work with all that.
With what I have cleared, I can book another cruise. :cool1:
But I'm not going to do that for a while now.

Mary- I agree, seeing those pictures has gotten me to want to pack my bags tonight!!!! :cool1:
We cannot wait to meet everyone at the Beach Club on Sat. Will it still be at 3pm?
I was showing Alexander the pictures and he seems very excited to go. This will be our 4th DC but first with DVC. I can't wait to take him to Port Canaveral!!
I've got a quick question....
Alexander is going to be 3 on October 17. He has started Preschool and has a different schedule now than he did when we booked. He is going to bed at 8:30-9pm on most nights. Do you think there will be a problem switching to the early seating? I want to keep everyone sane....
Thanks!!

Nicole:
to change your dining, you should try and change your time immediately when you get onboard. The sooner you get there, the more chances you have at getting it changed.
Since this is a special cruise, it might be a little hard to do.
But I sure would give it a try

Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
We need a vacation NOW - we just cannot wait another minute!!! Today I spent 3 hours in the ER because my daughter, Aly (her new name - used to be Alexis), injured her right leg during a soccer game today. She had to be carried off the field. Thankfully, no broken bones - just a really bad sprain. Unfortunately, she's on crutches and has a lower leg brace. Doc says she'll be this way for at least a week and half. We leave in 13 days - wish us luck. Sad thing is, 2 years ago this happened, during a soccer game, and she ended up spending a lot of time in a wheelchair at WDW. Better believe I've been making fun of her all evening.
Looking forward to some more info from the DVC cruise site...
I'll have to take a look at those pictures from Mary that everybody has been talking about.
Hope everybody is having a great, and injury-free, weekend.
;)

Glad everyone enjoyed the photos. I know I enjoyed looking back at the great memories we had and looking forward to the great memories we'll make on this cruise.
can't believe we are only 3 weeks away from sailing! I went through our toiletry bags yesterday making sure we had everything. Some (like the daily stuff - shampoo, deoderant, toothpaste, etc.) need to be in our road bag while others like sunscreen, and the "what-ifs" can be in the luggage we most likely won't open until we get on the cruise. With that set I'm going to bring our rolling rack up to the dining room and start setting out clothes for the trip. Again with two packing styles in mind. One piece of luggage just for the road trip and then two more for the cruise.

Oh yes - the pics are great to see. All of mine are on my screen saver on my computer and I see them each day.
Each one brings back memories.
When the ones with my DH pops up, I remember those very special like.
Besides the Panama Canal cruise, he loved the Member Cruise very much.
He'd be happy to know that I am going on this one with a friend.
Enough of that and back to regular scheduled programming !!!!!!
Less than three weeks to go - sounds wonderful to me.

Not posted anywhere that I know of. We didn't bother posting them to the DIS as they are for a unique cruise.
We have them but doubt we can get them all scanned an up anytime soon. Mark (who does the scanning) has been working some long hours and today is doing over the car (oil change, check breaks, clean, wax) for the road trip.
If there is something specific you are looking for I could look it up for you.

I doubt there will be much time for exercise, but did they offer any classes other than spinning?
What time do the activities start on the sea day?
Thanks Mary
