Reducing size of pictures

Can someone please help me!?! I want to upload some pictures into my gallery here at the Disboards. I've done this before with no problem. Today, I tried to upload a particular picture and it took up too much space (553KB). How do I change that to make it small enough to upload? :confused3

IrfanView is a free program I use to edit all my photos . It's real easy to use and you can change both size and quality in the last step to get your desired size.

I also rename my photos when I do the save so it's easier to check if the changes took effect. Like if org is DCs0001 i will can the first edit DCs0001a .

If you use XP go here (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx), choose image resizer. It is very easy to use.
