You're not getting that lucky - I just booked it too. I would prefer to do a 7 nt but since it's not available this summer, I'm going with the 4 nt . This will be our 3rd DCL cruise; me, DH, DD (13), DS (10), and DD (6). :thumbsup2

Cool I was starting to think we were going to have the thing to ourselves. This will be our 2nd DCL and I guess we will have to take our 14 & 9 yr old.

Maybe the boat will be empty, we will have our choice of deck chairs, no waiting to get an ice cream cone, no wait to use the internet, think of all the photos they will take of us since there will be so few people on board, maybe we will all get upgraded to the Walt and Roy suites:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Surely there are some more fellow cruisers out there..

DiznNut
01-03-2007, 10:26 PM
We can only hope it will be empty. We want the Walt Suite, you can have the Roy! HAHA!!! What part of NC are you from? We are from the foothills.
My kids are so excited to be going on another Disney Cruise. My DS will be 14and my DD 9 when we travel. They don't want to leave the ship. Last time we made them get off at Nassau, but we agreed it they didn't want to stay on the island, we would go back to the ship for lunch and stay. Guess what, we stayed on the ship and had a blast.

At least it won't be during March Madness!:rotfl2:There is no telling what might happen.:scared1: I can't believe that there aren't more folks going on this cruise. I wonder if Pirates of the Caribbean 3 will be playing on the boat since it comes out right before we sail. Anybody know?pirate:

DiznNut
01-09-2007, 11:23 PM
I hope Pirates of the Caribbean Part 3 will be on too. Last time we were on the ship we didn't get to go to the movies, but I would make an extra effort to go to see this movie. Can't miss out on Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.

You mentioned earlier about what to do in Nassau, on our first cruise there we just wandered through the city. We shopped a little while, went back to the ship for lunch and decided to stay on the ship. This was the perfect time to be on the ship. On our last crusie (RCL), we took an excursion to Atlantis and it was beautiful. This trip we haven't decided what we will do. I would like to take an excursion of some type, but I think they are pricey. I think I would like to take the kids to the Pirate Museum and we can find that on our own. We saw it last trip just wandering down the streets and it isn't a bad walk. After a couple of hours on Nassau, I think we will head back to the ship and just relax and have fun because I am afraid it will be very hot there in June.

LVSWL
01-11-2007, 08:47 PM
Well, we will keep our fingers crossed for the pirate: movie! We saw POC 1 on the Eastern several years back when it first came out.
We aren't sure whether to do an excursion or not either. We did one in St.Thomas that was fantastic, a couple in St.Martan that were ok. I just keep reading such conflicting reports about the area and walking around. It makes me a little uncomfortable. I wonder about the weather too, we cruised in the winter before.
It still looks like this boat will be kinda empty.....

Hello fellow cruisers! We're booked for this cruise - the first cruise for DS(11) and DS(9). We're sitting here tonight anticipating some sunshine since it's been 33 degrees and raining here all day today. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We've marked our calendars for when our payment is due to take advantage of CC. Gotta make my payment by March 2nd!!

Can we get the kids to e-mail one another so they'll know someone in the clubs by the time we get there? Let me know if anyone else is interested.

:hourglass Counting down!!

:welcome:We are really excited too! Good to know another disser is aboard! We aren't sure if our kids will be doing the clubs. They are 16 and almost 13 and didn't do the clubs on our last cruise when they were 9 and 13 but a couple of times. They enjoy the pools and playing ping pong and basketball and just hanging out and the shows and since this is a short cruise they might skip the clubs. I'll let you know if they change their minds. Welcome aboard!

DonnaDavid

Welcome aboard, GA. We've had unexpected snow in OR and I'm ready for something different also. My DS is not the best of e-mailers, but perhaps we can trade info with each other as we get closer to the cruise to find out what they have in common. This will be Jacob's 5th cruise (we're actually cruising with Carnival in March), and I do get frustrated that he doesn't go to the kids' clubs more. He does better if he makes a buddy to hang out with.

As for the Nassau day, I stayed on the ship (except for a brief walk in the Straw Market) the only other time we've been there . This time I'm planning on reserving a room at Atlantis and spending the day on the slides. It appears that people are reserving rooms for less than DCL charges for 5 people to do one of their Atlantis excursions.

I wouldn't be going on this cruise if I didn't think that Pirates would be showing in the ship's theater. I've already researched what happened last summer and it appears that they started showing it on the ships at the same time as it premiered in US theaters. :hourglass

Wishing everyone a bit of sunshine and warmth!:cool1:

Burr

:beach: Well it looks like business is picking up around here. As far as the kids clubs go in Dec 05 we had to beg our (DS12 & DD8 at the time)to spend time with us. We could barely keep them out of the clubs. They are very excited about them again.

Count us in as well :thumbsup2

This will be our 2nd DCL cruise - first one was last May for a 7-day Western on the Magic. Best vacation ever! This time we're spending a few days in WDW prior to the cruise.

What's everyone doing for Day 1 (Nassau)?. I've read so many different things that I think my head is going to explode! Some say "stay on the ship" while others say "go to a beach". We made reservations at the Comfort Inn so we could see Atlantis & their beach, but we have until May 30th to change our minds.

Only 133 days left :dance3:

We're now booked for June 3rd!!!:cool1:
It's our first Disney Cruise and we're way beyond excited.

I'm glad to see some of you have sons around 10. My son is 10, he loves all sports (especially soccer) and video games and all the regular stuff. Since he's an "only" I'm hoping he can hang around with some other boys his age.

We really want to do Atlantis and the pool and slides. I'm a little confused about the best way to do that. What's the deal with the Comfort Inn? Do you get access to all the Atlantis stuff?

Also, when can you start making reservations for shore excursions?
I'm going to go buy the Passporter 2007 book when it comes out next week. Hopefully that will keep me from asking too many questions. :)

Kim&Chris

Welcome aboard!

If you book a room at the Comfort Inn in Nassau, you have access to the beach, pools, slides, aquarium, etc at Atlantis. We booked a room using smartertravel.com and got a decent deal.

Mickey Mania

Okay, I've jumped on the bandwagon and booked a room for the Comfort Inn.
Price with taxes etc. is $235.
It seems like alot! But better than paying $120 per person for the three of us if we did the shore excursion.
Thanks for the tip.
Now I have to figure out what to do at Castaway Cay. Any suggestions?

Mickey Mania
01-25-2007, 06:58 AM
Being the bargain-hunter that I am I went back to smartertravel.com and found a lower rate for the Comfort Inn on Paradise Island.

Here's the link.
http://www.smartertravel.com/discounts/Save-Quality-Comfort-Clarion.html?id=16348

This will give you a rate of $187.20.
With taxes etc. it goes up to $209.67.

I used my AAA before I tried this and I was spending about $235.

:welcome:Mickey Mania! We still haven't decided what to do at either spot! We have a DS 12 almost 13 and DS 16. We have been to Castaway Cay before and just spent the day on the beach swimming and hanging out on the beach. We were planning to snorkel, but the weather didn't cooperate, so that was scratched. So...our plans are still up in the air. Glad to have you:boat:.

DonnaDavid

Hi MickeyMania,
My DS and your DS sound like they should have quite a bit in common. The only thing you didn't mention was legos. Jacob's goal in life is to become the guy who creates all of the lego sculptures at Legoland. He's still refusing to e-mail a stranger, but I think we have plenty to work with here. I'm sure that we can think of some appropriate activity to introduce our little guys and hopefully get them started on hanging out together on the ship. I don't mind doing things as a family, but I really want him to take advantage of what DCL has to offer him.

Thanks for the tip about the "significant organizational discount" vs the AAA rate at the Comfort Suites. I've lost my Amex card, but I'm going to go back and book that one.

I don't recall the snorkeling being very good at Castaway Cay as it always seems to be quite sandy. However, I'm hoping that the Black Pearl really will be at Castaway Cay when we arrive. I would have to go out to have my picture taken with the Dutchman and the Pearl! Other than that I recall laughing at the hula hoop contest, eating, trying to track down missing kids, and sitting on the beach. Maybe I'll convince someone to take the bike tour around the island.

It's great that we're getting a little group going here! :grouphug:

I'm getting so excited.

Two quick questions:
When can you make shore excursion reservations?
When can you make PALO reservations?
And don't worry, for future mundane questions I'm going to buy the 2007 Disney Cruise Passporter the day it comes out. (Jan. 28)

Like ya'll I can't wait to see the Flying Dutchman. What a photo op. I read somewhere you can't take one of the rental boats out to it. Is that right? I'd love to get up close and personal. pirate:

I really wanted to do the Stingray shore excursion at CC, but my DS says he won't go near them after Steve Irwin died. Has anyone done this? Are they little stingrays?
If we don't do that we may just float, snorkle and bike around. Also gotta get the charachter photos!

DonnaDavid, My DS likes LEGOS (he LOVED Legoland a few years back) but isn't probably quite the fan yours is. But he is totally into Star Wars. In fact we're going to do Star Wars Weekend at MGM before we get onboard. I think they'll have plenty in common. Tanner is pretty easy-going.

Have a great weekend everyone!

LVSWL

Mickey Mania- please don't quit asking questions! We all learn from the answers you get! And if you do get the passporter, share the knowledge
with us:rotfl:
I believe that you can book your excursions at the 60 day mark.
Not sure about Palo. May be the same. Good question for the boards, or a repeat cruiser may know.
What about one of those disposable waterproof cameras so that you can go out as close as possible to the Flying Dutchman and snap you photo without worrying about your camera getting wet. Unless you have a really long zoom on your digi.

I got my cruise packet in the mail today! So cute. It's getting me excited all over again.

We also got our postcard from Mickey yesterday!!! My son loved it. If any of ya'll have children you should definetly consider doing this. I posted the link below. You just ask a recent cruiser to send your kids a Disney Cruise postcard from the charachter of their choice. Ours was even postmarked from Orlando. This board is so great.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=629204

I have not registered yet. I need to do that. I booked through Sam's Club so will that make a difference? I guess I just use the reservation number Sam's gave me.

Ya'll are waiting much more patiently for the Cruise Passporter than I am. It was supposed to come out on the 28th, but it's running late.
It's expected to be in stores later this week. I'll pass along any good tips as soon as I read them.

Great news! The 3rd Pirates of the C. movie is releasing the week before we all cruise. I can't wait to see it.
The dilema--- see it when it comes our in very late May and then see it again on the ship. Or wait and see it for the first time on the Wonder.
Any thoughts???pirate:

Have any of ya'll done the Jedi Training Academy? This sounds so cool.

It will be hot, but not unbearable. We went this time last year, and I was really dreading it because we usually go during the fall and spring, but I had a great time. One really important word to remember....FASTPASS!!!:rotfl2:and
choose your battles. Walk past the long lines and go on to the next ride. You can always come back. We really took advantage of the EMH's and that helped.
No, we haven't done the Jedi Training Academy. It does look very cool! It might not hurt to make a Mama Melrose ressie for that day. The service is usually pretty good there, and it might be nice to get inside out of the heat and regroup for a time.
We are getting excited too! My older DS and DH are going in April, so they will get a Disney fix before my younger DS and I will.

Hi! My daughter (4yrs. old) and I are heading on our first DCL cruise on the 3rd of June also. We are so excited. I am recovering from back surgery and it is giving me motivation. My surgeon has already busted me for sitting at the computer for too long researching this trip! Why didn't I lie?? I think my daughter and I are going to make a quick trip to ride a surrey in Nassau and then head straight back to the boat. Since we are traveling alone I don't want to take any chances. I am glad to have found this thread. I have found 2 other families traveling also online. I am glad someone is doing a countdown. I am also fashioning our pirate gear. My DD has her princess dresses ready to go. I have also booked the Mexican Riviera for next summer. I figure it will make going back to school less painful in Aug. I look forward to talking to everyone before we go!:cheer2:

I just showed my daughter, Olivia, what the life jackets look like and explained the drill the best I could to a 4 yr old. Someone posted a cute picture. She looks at me and replies, "I will not wear dat jacket mom!" I told her it was a law and we would be booted off the boat. She asked if Minnie, Mickey and Goofy will be wearing theirs. I say "yes". Please tell me they wear jackets!! If not, you will see a pretty little girl with long black hair being drug along by her mother to her muster station!

My back and leg is still having major muscle spasms. I don't know if it because she is home and requiring alot out of me or if it is because I am sitting on the computer obsessing over this cruise!! If the snow would melt and allow me to go out and walk! I still have 6 weeks until I go back to school.

I think for Nassau we are going to ride the surrey and hit one little shop and then go back to the boat and enjoy it. I am afraid to explore Nassau on our own. What is everyone else doing? I think being a bum on Castaway Cay is our plan there!

LVSWL
02-19-2007, 03:52 PM
livvismom, it has been a while since I cruised, so someone else might be a better person to answer the life jacket question, but I will make a stab at it.
It seems to me that when we were standing there with ours on being shown all about the life jackets, that Mickey was there, possibly Minnie, really not sure about Goofy. Hope that helps. Hope someone else chimes in if it is really important.
I hope that you start to feel better soon. It is tough to be stuck inside and not able to get the excercise that you need, especially when you need that to be recouperating. Is there somewhere that you can walk inside?
Our plans for Nassau are still up in the air. We will probably just tour on our own, and also check out the straw market. Not totally sure yet. Castaway Cay is fun to just hang out and spend time on the beach and eat a great meal. You can pack your own sand toys or buy some there, although they do go fast we found. A shovel and pail are a good idea for a four year old I think. We are thinking about parasailing, but my kids are older. Last time we just hung out and relaxed on the beach. It is fun to see Goofy ride by on the jet ski!:goofy:

In case ya'll missed another thread about parasailing I wanted to give you a heads-up. Apparently some people are having their CC parasailing excursions cancelled by Disney because of issues with the vendor. This is happening for cruises in early March.
I'm hoping any problems will be resolved by our cruise, but.....

We were really looking forward to this, so I'll just have happy thoughts.
Maybe the stingrays are calling our names!;)

Also, I just got my new Passporter 2007 Cruise Guide and if you have any questions please let me know.

I am so excited I can't stand it! I am reading and shopping and obsessing! What exactly do people wear for semi formal night? I bought a "just below the knee" black cocktail dress. I wonder if it is too dressy. My daughter and I look at everyone's pictures of their past cruises. 98 days is way too far away except it gives my back time to heal. The anticipation is killing me! livvysmom,
hey girl, how are you feeling, hope it's better every day. Have you been able to walk any? About the semi-formal, I think it's whatever you are comfortable in. I am still a little unsure about what I will take for that. I did pick up a pair of black dress pants and a dressy black and white top. The white part is just small and a little bit smaller circles. The top has a v-neck and cap sleeves. The two were sold together, but I hesitated saying pantsuit because that sounds like a polyester pink suit:rotfl2: with big buttons. As I recall, when we cruised a few years ago, we would go back to our room and change after supper before we went to the shows anyway just to be more comfortable, also since it was sometimes cooler in the theatre.

We are another day closer. I am officially a mall walker!!!!! I am busting my butt, literally. A group of stroller moms just about ran me over this morning. Help me! I enjoy watching the elderly though. They are so sweet. This trip is motivating me. I am sore as you know what tonight but I am getting stronger. Of course then I had to hit Macy's, Gymboree and Gap! Then I went to see the TA and paid for the trip. Yipeeeeee!!!!!

I ordered a DVD of some family on DCL and we have watched it 6 times. I am so ready. Olivia really thinks she will get to swim with Mickey privately. Oh well.....

I like your pantsuit idea. I am still toying with my clothing. We hardly eat out so this is such a treat.

Is anyone flying in the night before?

Sorry I am rambling on and on. I have too much time on my hands and watch too much "who is Dannielynn's Daddie"? I shall return to my real world soon enough.:scared1:

Glad to hear you are getting your steps in livvysmom! We have the cruise video from several years ago and the show from the travel channel taped and watch those alot. I don't remember if I saw Mickey in swim trunks :lmao:
We are driving over from WDW that morning. Just stopping in to see Hermans Hermits for the day at Epcot on Saturday and spending the night.
Anyone else getting excited yet???

Merry Mickey
03-01-2007, 07:04 PM
Yes, we're incredibly excited!!!:cheer2:

By the way, Mickey Mania and Merry Mickey are both me. I log on from two computers and couldn't figure out how to have the same username from both. Sigh..... One day I will get my brain wrapped around the internet.

As a cruise newbie I get to make my reservations on March 20th--- 75 days out. I plan to be up and calling in the middle of the night. We REALLY want to eat at Palo.

Any tips would be appreciated on what to do.

Has anyone made ressies yet?

LVSWL
03-04-2007, 09:04 PM
Nope, no ressies yet, a few more days to go. I'm not sure about what to do about CC. We wanted to parasail and now it seams there may be a problem doing that there :worried: So..we might have to go back to the drawing board. I don't think we are going to make a Palo ressie though. I know it sounds wonderful, but we enjoyed the other restaurants alot before, and, really enjoy eating with our kids, so will probably just stick with them for the meals.

Mickey Mania
03-05-2007, 08:32 AM
We're really hoping Disney gets the parasailing snags worked out. I think that by June it's a definite possibility. If not, we're doing the stingrays. I read on another thread they trim the stingers at CC so there's even less "danger" than you would have anywhere else. We also want to rent bikes, get lots of charachter photos, swim, eat, mail postcards etc.... :beach:
I don't think there will be enough time in the day.

LVSWL
03-05-2007, 08:52 AM
You probably have already read this somewhere, but remember to buy and mail a postcard to yourself so you have one with the cool CC postmark!;)

Merry Mickey
03-05-2007, 05:54 PM
I hadn't read that. Thanks for the tip. It's going on my long list of things I have to do.
Are any of ya'll dressing up for the pirate party?pirate:

LVSWL
03-05-2007, 06:43 PM
We can't decide about whether to dress up for the pirate party. Right now we are supposed to have the late seating so we wouldn't be around for all of the party. The costumes that I have seen on the DIS look great! Anyone else?

Merry Mickey
03-05-2007, 08:20 PM
We have the late seating too! I can't decide if this is a good thing or bad. We thought we'd ask to switch when we got onboard, but I don't know what our chances are going to be.

LVSWL
03-05-2007, 08:46 PM
I know what you mean about switching. We had early seating when we cruised before and really liked it, but it was 3 years ago and so our kids were younger. It just was nice to be able to eat and then go back to our cabin and change into something comfortable and then go see a show and relax and hang out for the rest of the evening. We were trying to figure out if we would have to get "dressed" really early for dinner and wear that to the show and then go from there to dinner, or if there would be time to change in between. There is a thread right now about the different times for the seatings and I guess I wonder if we ask to change to the early would we get the really early one, which is supposed to be the "younger" kids-mine are teenagers. Decisions, decisions....:confused3

Merry Mickey
03-06-2007, 05:41 PM
I think I'm going to ask for early seating as soon as I get on.... but not be disappointed if I don't get it. I have also wondered if we'd get stuck with the earliest seating which might be too early.

Anyway it will be nice not to be rushed when we're in the Bahamas and on CC. Tanner can just order room service around 5:00 so he won't be starving. He LOVES that idea! :cool1:

Are ya'll planning to do all the shows?

LVSWL
03-06-2007, 07:28 PM
Yes, we really enjoyed the shows before when we cruised. We actually looked forward to them each evening after dinner. We also saw a comedian in one of the comedy clubs that who was really funny too. And we saw POC 1 on the ship right after it came out in the theaters. We had just seen it at home the week before, but you can never see too much of those guys!:rotfl:

I had a set back from my surgery. I am on couch rest for a few days. The mall walking/a little shopping sent my back and leg over the edge. So now I am allowed to do nothing. The weather here is gorgeous. I am now on steriods and allowed to lay and turn to more mush. I sit here in tears. Thank God this trip isn't until June. I just am sad that I can't do any walking to get into shape for swimsuit season. I am sick of watching tv. I am tired of reading. My house is a disaster. I have watched the cruise DVD to the point of talking like Mickey myself. I just need to vent. I just want to be back to my old self. I just want to be healthy again and let it be June so I can run around the boat and have fun. Sorry to be a downer but all my friends are working today and I am stuck here. I am sure in a few weeks when I am released to work I will wish I was back at home. My doctor won't even let me sit at my computer but for 5 min. on the hour. How sucky is that?

Thanks for the vent and yes we will be hitting the shows!!!!
My daughter's disney jibbitz came in for her crocs today and that was my highlight for the morning!:yay:

LVSWL
03-07-2007, 03:42 PM
I'm so sorry livvysmom! Just try to remember that we have plenty of time and follow the doctor's orders. Use this time to work on your list and plan away! So, which disney jibbitz did she get? I have Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy. Still looking for Tink of course and maybe Pluto. Went Croc shopping this morning. There are new colors out in the maryjanes. Decisions...

Merry Mickey
03-07-2007, 06:23 PM
Livvysmom, I am bummed for you. I know how hard it is to just sit. But, think of this as prime planning time. And if you just follow doctor's orders you will be more than ready for the cruise. And don't worry, I won't be looking so great in my swimsuit and I'm not having to take it easy. :rolleyes1

I have the Disney jibbitz as well. I have Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, the ears and the hands. Luv 'em!

Tink, I may have to get. Is she out yet?

LVSWL
03-07-2007, 10:43 PM
I have only seen her on the web site. If I find her in my travels, I will let you know. I could always send you guys a care package. :rotfl:

livvysmom
03-08-2007, 09:23 AM
Tink is on jibbitz. In my town they don't even sell disney jibbitz yet. The others I got on ebay. I had a hard time getting them into the holes. I thought I was going to rip the shoes. Of course, it could have been my mood! Do they remove easily? I was hoping to interchange them.

Do you think since I have a 4 yr. old they will put me in the earlier late dinner rotation? My daughter is pretty good about going with the flow. Usually on vacation she would stay up until 10 or 11.

What are you guys going to do in Nassau? I think we are going to do the surrey ride and look around there a little bit and then head back to the boat.

Ok, I am off to medicate and head to the couch. I think I am going to watch my Disney DVD. It is cheesy but fun.

Mickey Mania
03-08-2007, 11:46 AM
I know you think you're going to rip the CROCS when you put in the jibbitz but you won't. Those shoes are tough. And you can take them in and out. I've moved mine around several times.
I'll look for Tink as well.

In Nassau we've booked a Comfort Suites room so we can do the pools/beach/and everything else at Atlantis. We figure this may be the one time in a long time we go --- so we just HAVE to see the place.
I hope we love it.

I'm starting to get excited. I've marked the calendar for March 20th--- my sign up date for PALO and excursions. I have to set the alarm for 2am!

livvysmom
03-08-2007, 12:49 PM
How much is it to book a room at the Comfort Suites?

I had read about that. The pools look totally awesome. I didn't want to do the tour because the walking would kill me and she would not like it if she couldn't swim.

What should I do for the spa? Olivia acts like she might do the kids club but I don't know. I was going to sign her up March 20. Should I book an app't at the spa and if she won't go to the club for an hour I guess I will cancel the day before?

Where is the Atlantis Resort, and what is it like?
The Atlantis Resort is a legendary and lavish property on Paradise Island, near Nassau in the Bahamas and just a hop from Florida. An amazing place prior to 2007, The Atlantis has added The Cove luxury lodgings, and the AQUAVENTURE waterpark.

Main features at The Atlantis:

With its expansion, The Atlantis now has a 97-acre "waterscape" with over 20 million gallons of lagoons, pools, waterfalls, and giant aquariums filled with sea creatures, all adding up to the "largest marine habitat in the world".

Giant Waterslides
Near the Royal Towers, the five-story Mayan Temple has a 60-ft. vertical drop ends in a clear tunnel inside a shark-filled lagoon, and a pair of Challenger slides where you can race your friends. In the expanded area of AQUAVENTURE, the 120-foot Power Tower, has four wild slides including "The Abyss": a near-vertical 50 feet drop through darkness, and two inner-tube slides where you can ride up a conveyor to the slide.

River Loop
AQUAVENTURE redefines the river-float experience. Get on your inner tube and ride all day: through lifts and drops, white-water Rapids, 80-foot underground tunnel and caves, and even up a conveyor to the giant waterslides, if you like. Read more about the AQUAVENTURE river ride.

More water play zones
Guests can variously enjoy a white-sand beach, multiple swimming pools, 7-acre lagoon with shallow entry (and kayaks and water toys), large kids pool with slide and waterfalls, baby pool, Splashers kiddie waterplay zone.

The Dig and giant aquariums
The Atlantis has some of the largest tanks full of sea life in the world, and you can get a subterranean view at The Dig, an Atlantis-themed maze of chambers.

Other Atlantis features: giant casino, eye-popping glass sculptures, wide choice of restaurants, spa, and Marina Village with shops and restaurants. (Click for a tour.)

What's special about the Atlantis Resort for families?
Ripples kids' pool is a large area with slides, waterfalls, other fun features, and ample room for loungers for parents; there's a second smaller baby pool as well
Splashers water play zone is for kids under 48", with slides, dumping bucket, squirters, etc.
Gentle Travel for families with babies: a special kit with night-light, lullaby CD, baby care products, and tips about keeping baby's routine while traveling; Prompt Response hot-line; and more.
Chow time: kids will enjoy feeding time at the Predator and other lagoons.
Atlantis' Kids Clubhouse: Morning Escape for ages 3 to 5 (- kids might stage a Junkanoo parade, learn how to play an instrument, or visit the resort’s Fish Hospital).
Discovery Kids Adventure, for ages 6 to 12: designed in conjunction with The Discovery Channel. Evening Escape: nightly from 6 to 10 p.m., with movies, games, dancing, for ages 3 to 12.
Club Rush has dance floor, movies, videogames and is open early evening for kids 7 to 13, and later for kids 13 and up.
Tips for family visits to the Atlantis Resort:
the Atlantis grounds are large. Royal Towers are near the waterslides, and kiddie pool zone; Coral and Beach Towers are closer to the lazy river, and a considerable walk from the waterslides.
Harborside Villas (at the Atlantis Vacation Club) can accommodate larger families. A frequent shuttle takes guests the to the Atlantis proper. (Walking might take 10 minutes.)
Keep in mind about the Atlantis Resort:
expect that food is expensive; also, 15% gratuity is added at all restaurants. Families can pack some fruit leather and granola bars for kiddie munchies; buy refillable drinks; head to the Marina village for snacks at Starbucks and family restaurants; read visitor comments for other tips.
guests staying at the adjacent Comfort Suites have access to the Atlantis facilities including pools, lagoons, waterpark, casino, spa, kids' camp

I am working on my DD autograph book. I decided to make one. Watched the cheesy DVD again today. The steriods are starting to kick in some. So I try on the swimsuit I bought when I was out walking the mall. DEPRESSING!!!!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: If I don't shape up soon I may scare people!!! Anyway, we are getting pumped. The weather is warm here too. I am planning outfits in my head. DD is ready to go. We are foregoing any excursions I think. I just want to plant my feet on that boat!!!

85 DAYS!!!!! Will that ever get here?:cool1: :cool1:

Cool, grey, intermittent sprinkles all day, high probably in the 50's. Tomorrow our weather will change to heavier drizzle. WElcome to Portland in the winter. It's okay - I'll appreciate that beautiful Bahamas weather more than you guys!

I'm packing for my upcoming Carnival cruise tonight! I made final payment on the DCL cruise courtesy of Costco last week. :cool2:

I need to check out those jibbitz things! I've never heard of them until this board.

By the way, for all of you pirate fans, the trailer is premiering on March 19th on Dancing with the Stars. You know where I'll be that evening!:happytv:

Welcome:welcome: ILoveGoofyGuys! Glad you found our thread! We have a 16year old DS and a 12 almost 13year old DS going. He will be six weeks from his 13th birthday when we cruise, so I don't think they will let him go in the teen group, but I don't know if exceptions are made because of having an older sibling. My kids didn't do alot of the clubs before on the 7 day, but they were younger. We are trying to make out final decisions this weekend about excursions, but basketball and hockey games are getting in the way:rotfl:

75 days to go!!!!!
This is the day to make your PALO, shore excursion and spa reservations if you're a first timer like me.
I made my reservations early, early this morning (3am) and really feel like the cruise will be here before we know it.
We're doing PALO dinner on our second night and the PALO brunch on our "at sea" day. :cool1:
We also tried to book the parasailing excursion and it is not available. :sad2: Problems with the vendor or something. I'm hoping it will be back up and running before June but I'm now coming up with a Plan B.

What did the rest of you do for reservations? I hope you got what you wanted.

DiznNut
03-20-2007, 10:39 PM
YEAH!! I am glad to hear only 75 days until we all board the ship! I can't wait!! We haven't booked any reservations for Palos or excursions. I would love to do Palo, but I want to dine in the restaurants with the kids and I don't want to give up any shows to dine there either. I booked the brunch and then I cancelled it because I didn't want to feel that I need to "get ready" at mid-day to go eat.

The rest of my family is ready. My kids don't even want to get off of the ship while we are in Nassau. On our last cruise they got off and I think that was enough for them. They just love the clubs. My son, now 14, wants to do the bridge similator, but I think they will only let you do that up to age 12, do you know if they will let an older child do this? My daughter, 9 , really excited about the clubs too. Last time we had to make them spend time with us, HAHA!

Mickey Mania
03-22-2007, 08:51 AM
DiznNut (and anyone else with 10-ish aged kids) I would love more info about the clubs!

My DS is 10, almost 11, and loves soccer, sports, video games, Star Wars, chess etc. Typical boy.

What kinds of activities are there for the 10-12 year old group? What is the bridge simulator? I read on a Navigator that the 10-12's get to go to ALOFT in the morning. What is that? Are there video game challenges? Can the kids go to the sports court anytime?

Thanks for all your help.

We are going to be on this cruise also. It is our first cruise and I am also a little nervous about some of the same things. I saw that there are a couple other 10-ish boys (mine's 9, almost 10) who are interested in the same things my DS1 is. He is a soccer nut, loves sports of all kinds, legos, and Star Wars. But I didn't see anyone around my DS2's age 7 (going on 17). He is into soccer, baseball, pirates, and army guys. Does anyone else have a 7ish guy going on this cruise?

Also, has anyone done the dolphin encounter in Nassau? We just made reservations and I want to know if it is worth it.

Mickey Mania
03-26-2007, 08:35 AM
This is our first DCL so we haven't done the dolphin encounter. It sure sounds like a blast. We're planning to spend the day at the beach and pools at Atlantis. Figure this might be our one day to check it out.

Our sons might have alot of fun together. I'm sure your daughter will have no trouble finding lots of girls her age to play with.

Anyone doing door signs?

livvysmom
03-26-2007, 11:18 PM
The dolphin encounter would be so much fun but my daughter is only 4. She is begging to do it but I know she would freak out if I took her on it. I think I may wait until next summer when we go on the Mexican Riviera.

We aren't doing any excursions this cruise. We sure sound boring don't we?! I did by her snorkel gear and we might try that out at CC.

I am just telling everyone now..... look away when I peel off the swimsuit coverup!!! I have given up! It ain't pretty and time is creeping up on me and so is the swimsuit in places it shouldn't be!!!:confused3

I don't think I am making a door sign. Who all is? I head back to school next week after being off for 8 weeks. I did get my daughter's autograph book made. That was impressive.

What is the countdown now?:cheer2:

Bed Bugs! I'll have to catch up on my reading! I'm following some WW recipes too. Know how many points I should eat, but not really going to meetings. Have you tried the Classic Beef and Barley Soup in their newest cookbook? I also add corn to it. 5 points. I double the recipe and eat it all the time. Yummy and filling and has really helped to keep me on track.:)

Watch out, my arms may look like Madonna's by June 3rd!!:lmao: I am impressed with all this Weight Watchers talk. Geez, I feel guilty eating my Burger King onion rings today.

Ok, what is up with the bed bug thing? Can you see these things? I work with kids that get head lice so this kinda makes my skin crawl a bit. Surely they will crank the heat up on the washing and drying machines before we arrive on the ship!!!:laundy:

Livvysmom, we're glad you're feeling better. I can't wait to see those triceps! :thumbsup2

LVSWL, I'm going to track down the recipe for the soup! I tend to get in ruts and eat the same stuff over and over. This might be a tasty change.

I've been reading the bed bug thread and checking out some of the links and I'm just hoping the problem isn't spreading. :surfweb: It doesn't seem like there's a whole lot we can do on our end.
One tip I'm going to use is that I'm not bringing my luggage in the house when we get back. I'm just going to unpack everything on our backyard deck and take it in for a good wash and then let the cases bake in the June heat for a day or two. And yes I'll pray it's not raining when we get back.:rolleyes1

livvysmom that's great news! My younger son and I are sitting here depressed because the DH and older DS left at noon for 9 days in WDW without us:sad1: Our only consolation is that we will be going in just a couple of months.
Mickey Mania, I think that I am going to follow some of the advice on the bedbug thread and take very large trash bags and slide them over our suitcases when we unpack them and twisttie them tight while we are on the boat. Let me know if you can't find the recipe, I also have a good chicken and couscous with fresh mint recipe that is great for a cold salad to have for lunch on the go.

Welcome! I have a DS who is going to be almost 13 when we cruise and a DS who is 16. Have you cruised before?

Chickadee113
04-06-2007, 08:02 PM
That's cool!
I can't wait...
But sadly I have never been on one before!
Have you guys been on one before?
If so do your sons like going to the Aloft?

LVSWL
04-08-2007, 07:53 PM
Oops, sorry I've been busy for a couple of days! Yes, we have sailed once before. The guys were 9 and 13. One was just old enough for the older activites but they didn't do alot of them since the younger one couldn't participate. Now this time, the younger DS will be just a few weeks short of his 13th birthday. Not sure how that will all play out. They did have a great time before though. Are you in 7th grade or 8th grade?
We are still trying to figure out our excursions for CC and Nassau.

Chickadee113
04-08-2007, 08:43 PM
Well I'm getting very excited!
And I'm in the 8th grade...
It wouldn't quite be fair for you 12 year old not to be able to do teen activities if he is so close to being 13.
So I hope that everything works out!
I really want to swim with dophins!
That seems like it would be SOO much fun!
What do you do when your children are gone?

LVSWL
04-09-2007, 05:56 PM
We are thinking about the Atlantis Beach Day in Nassau and probably just renting tubes and maybe a boat in CC. We were planning to go parasailing in CC but there is a problem with the vendor and the last I heard, they aren't booking that excursion :sad1: Guess we will have to try to do that in WDW.The Dolphins sound like a lot of fun. We have friends who have done that at Sea World and it was awesome!:thumbsup2

Chickadee113
04-09-2007, 08:28 PM
That all sounds like fun!
I'm getting really ready to go!
I hope that it's as much fun as I think that it will be!
My parents want to know what you and your husband? do when your children are gone doing other things... if they do go somewhere else?!

Well, Chickadee to tell you the truth, my DH and I didn't do a lot without the kids on the last cruise. Might be different this time around, 3 years later. They did like to go play ping pong and just check out things on deck without us some and did the club a little, but we really hung out together most of the time. We haven't booked Palo or spa time for this trip, so if they go off on their own, I guess we will just have to find something to do. We went to all the shows together before, and the comedy club. And we are definitely hoping to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3 on the ship, although we will probably see it before we sail.pirate:

Yea!
I hope that this is going to be as much fun as I think that it's going to be!

When does that movie come out?!
Is it this month or next month or what?
I think that my parents are getting ready cause they are tired of hanging out with me and my brother! :cool1:
Cause they are getting happy that we get to stay out until 2 in the morning!
lol!

This is our first cruise on Disney and we're planning a little "adult" time. We've booked Palo (adults only restaurant) for one dinner and the day-at-sea brunch. You're parents should check it out. The food is said to be fantastic. :cloud9:

The Pirates movie comes out the weekend before we all head out on our cruise (May 25th). So if you don't see it at home (or even if you do) you might want to see it on the boat. pirate:

Hope to see you all on the Wonder!:)

Chickadee113
04-12-2007, 05:15 PM
Well that sounds like fun!
My parents said that they might check it out... but they also said that they were perfectly fine with eating with us?! :scared:
But I think that I will wait so that I can see the movie on the boat!
Do you have any children!?
I'm a girl that's 13 (if you wanted to know)

Mickey Mania
04-12-2007, 09:00 PM
I think it would be so cool to see the movie on the boat. We may have to wait too. popcorn::

I have a son who will be on the verge of turning 11 on our cruise. I guess that means he won't be in Aloft with you, but I'm sure we will all see each other out and about. He can't wait to check out the sports court and is dieing to see the movie as well.

I'm already starting to figure out what I want to wear.

Chickadee113
04-12-2007, 09:07 PM
Well I know that you said that you haven't been on a Disney Cruise before but have you been on any other cruises cause my mom was wanting to know what to wear when it's supposed to be dressy!
But I hope that we do see you guys on the boat...
I'm hoping that I can find some girl that is my age that i can pal around with cause I don'treally want to hang out with my brother the entire time!
:cool1:
I've already bought a bunch of clothes that I can wear... they are mainly just school clothes though...
I mainly just need to get a bathingsuit and then I will be ready! :woohoo:

LVSWL
04-13-2007, 07:38 AM
Hey Chickadee! Tell your mom that I am taking a "pantsuit" for the dressy night that is thin black pants and a top with short cap sleeves and v-neck. The top has white polka dots. I am taking another top with me that I can wear with the same pants on another night. Some moms are taking dresses. Just depends on your comfort level. Mine is something that I would wear again out to dinner in the summer to a nice restaurant. My DH and DSons are wearing kackis and polo shirts or tropical shirts depending on the nights. I doubt that they are taking a coat and tie. Hope that helps.

Chickadee113
04-13-2007, 07:46 AM
I'm sure that it will help...
I will tell her later!

But that's probably what my brother and dad are going to wear... except my dad might wear something more dressy cause he's a lawyer!
:thumbsup2
But I will tell her!
Thanks!

1st Star Wars Weekend:ewok: :chewy:
1st EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival:flower3:

DH and DS10 are even starting to weigh in with ideas. I didn't want to burst their bubbles and tell them it's really too late and this trip is planned down to the last detail.

Only 36 days to we sail away!! :hourglass YEAH!!!! :woohoo: Anyone started packing yet? We are all excited. Still havent' decided on any excursions as of yet. Might not do any, might just relax this trip. DD wants to stay in kids clubs most of the trip. Will probably have to make both kids spend time with us whether they want to or not. Anyone going down the night before? Anyone going to Disney World after the cruise? We are planning a couple of nights at POP Century after the cruise. Just booked it today.

Hello Chickadee, we will be staying in Cocoa Beach the night before the cruise too. I have two children DD9 and DS 14 and they are both really excited. This will be their second DCL cruise on the Wonder. We are all excited and we are counting down the days. Our flight leaves one month from tomorrow! and the next day we all board the ship!

We are all looking forward to seeing POTC pirate: while we are on board. What are you plans for Nassau? My kids want to stay on board, but I plan on them exploring a little of the island in the am and back on board the ship in the pm.

Yes it would be great. My DD9 will be by herself in the club because older brother will be in the teen area and when he isn't in there he will be with DH and me. It would be great for them to play together in the club.

Hi all! We're getting too close to cruise day to let our thread get this low.

I've decided that parasailing isn't that frightening (if Samantha Brown can do it on the Travel Channel then I can also!) and I've booked myself and my DD (13) and DS (10). DD is actually away at Outdoor School this week and doesn't know about this; she may not be willing to do it, but I will cancel her if needed.

We're going to Universal the week before our cruise (believe it or not we're getting rather tired of WDW:eek: ). I'm really living on the edge this vacation as I've committed myself to riding the Incredible Hulk Coaster and the Jurassic River Adventure. Keep in mind that my DH is such a wimp that he won't ride Splash Mountain, so I really am the family daredevil!

Happy planning!

DonnaDavid,
I'll be right there with you on the parasailing excursion! Scared:eek: but willing to give it a try. :thumbsup2
DH and DS (10) are totally into it. I think we're booked for the 11am slot.

Sorry we haven't been on the board more--- but don't ya'll think May is as crazy as December? So much stuff going on at school, sports and I'm trying to work out. :rolleyes1

I still want to do a door magnet, but I'm not sure if we'll actually get to it.
Anyone else done one?

We should all try to at least say "Hi!" when we're on board. Any thoughts?

DonnaDavid
05-11-2007, 02:01 PM
MM, I hope you're correct about the 11 am booking as that is when we're booked also!

I'm game for meeting up on board. Anybody else? Several of us have kids about the same age. I really have a need to get a 13 yo DD involved with other kids - she's very fond of staying in the cabin and watching DVD's on her laptop.:sad2: :sad1: :sad2: :sad1: :sad2:

I'm not very savvy when it comes to door magnets - I don't think I'll even try!

14 days until Pirates 3 comes out! Actually I've heard that there will be some 8 pm showings on the 24th, but I probably won't see it until the 25th.pirate: I plan on watching it on the Wonder also as it will probably take me 2 or 3 showings to figure it all out. popcorn::

I'm a first time Disney cruiser, but I'll throw out a possible meeting for all Dis'ers on our cruise. I've noticed other groups do a quick meet-and-greet the afternoon of the first day. What about 3:00 on Sunday just to say Hi! and let adults and kids meet.

Help me out with the best place. You veterans will likely know the most convenient place.

Any thoughts/ideas/changes are welcome.

DD---We are booked for the 11am parasailing excursion! Just checked. We can give each other moral support.

We can't wait to see Johnny and Orlando again. This weekend we're going to try to watch 1 and 2 so we'll be set for the big premiere. Hope it happens. We also have a state soccer tournament.

SO, 3:00 on Sunday afternoon on Deck 10 above the Goofy Pool which is mid-ship. And meet on the right side.
One question about the right side. Is that looking at the dock or looking out to sea?
I may well be over analyzing this, but I just don't know how crowded the deck will be at that time. Don't want us missing each other. :)

That would be the right side of the ship while looking out to sea. Unless for some reason something has changed since last time, that side also looks over the terminal.

I could be wrong but I don't think it will be real crowded there at that time. When 5:00 rolls around it will be elbow to elbow there because the party will be going on just below on deck 9. :sail:

We leave for WDW in two days (early Wednesday morning) so now I'm in panic mode about all the stuff I may be forgetting. I've also become a fanatic about checking weather.com. Don't do it if you haven't yet. Why worry about what you can't change.
Can't wait!party:

Soccer Mom you have my respect for trying all this with a broken ankle. WOW! Soccer season just ended for us. We had our end-of-season pool party yesterday. DS (10 almost 11) is hoping there will be kids wanting to kick the ball around on the sports deck. :thumbsup2

As for plans......

Star Wars Weekend at MGM (first time)
Blizzard Beach (first time)
Disney Cruise (first time)

We're doing the Comfort Suites all access to Atlantis.
Parasailing excursion on Castaway Cay.
PALO for dinner and brunch. (We've tried to time it so the kids club will be on the sports deck. Hope those old navigators hold true.)

Oh yeah! We are excited! And..I am almost packed. Just those last minute things that can't go in until well..the last minute. We don't have a lot of plans. We are going to stop by at 3 on Sunday, myself, DH, DS-16 and DS-12. In Nassau we are doing the Atlantis Beach Day and planning to check out the Pirate Museum. No real plans for Castaway Cay, except to enjoy ourselves. The boys want to try that 3 wheeler thing. We are counting the days though because we are leaving a couple of days early to catch Herman's Hermits in Epcot. Oh, and we have the second seating for meals.
How about anybody else?

DonnaDavid
05-28-2007, 10:40 AM
We're leaving tomorrow morning for Universal. Everyone's gotten so busy with preparing to leave and school ending/ spring sports stuff that we're barely posting anymore!

I'm planning on stopping by on Sunday at 3 pm. Not sure who I'll take with me, but I'll try to take a kid or two. I'm not sure if the lime green ribbon is still the popular symbol of the DIS boards, but I know that in the past that was how we recognized other people from the boards. I had lime-green Mickey stickers stolen from Home Depot's paint sample department also (nobody should paint their rooms lime-green anyway.) I'll see if I can find them from my previous WDW trips. Otherwise I have shoulder-length blonde/brown hair that will be absolutely wild in Florida's humidity; my husband is a 6 ft tall bald guy (we sort of balance each other out?)

We're joining the Comfort Suites/Atlantis group. We're also parasailing at Castaway Cay. I've already seen Pirates 3, but I probably need to see it at least once (twice?) to figure it all out. :confused3

Off to finish the last-minute stuff!

I'm so jealous you're still in The World.
We went before the cruise so are back home already. We did sneek in a trip to Blizzard Beach after we got off the ship and before our plane took off that night. It was a good buffer to keep us from being too sad we were off the Wonder and heading home.

We're glad we got to actually meet everyone we've been talking with. The Disboards gave me so much invaluable info. I hope you all had a fabulous time. I plan to do a trip report once life settles down a bit.

Wasn't that cruise the BEST??!! We had a wonderful time, especially on Castaway Cay. The weather could not have been more beautiful, and the water at Serenity Bay was crystal clear.

Did any of you venture into Nassau? We got off the ship, wandered a bit, then turned right around and got back on the Wonder. We were on the ship for about an hour before the downpour. DH took advantage of the rain and was the only one in the pool :lmao:

We had great tablemates, too. Everyone talked and laughed through dinner, making everything even more enjoyable. One of our tablemates was the magician who performed on the cruise (I think his name was Mike Super, but I'm not 100% sure).

We enjoyed this cruise more than our 7-day Western from May of '05. So much so that we booked two more Wonder cruises!!
