WOW 2008!! 7 night Western?
we don't care...either works for us, we have done both. There are good and bad things...I think at least one if not two ports we would sit on the boat!

Hope to do the TDAY 2008 - we are waiting for a quote when the dates come out - there are 8 of us going... the criteria from the kids is that they still be young enough to go to the stack -- so that means we have to cruise before 2009 for us --

Hello all! We are on the fence at the moment....we cruise in 13 days!! Wooo Whooo!:cool1: and originally planned on re-booking for Thanksgiving 2008...I am intrigued by the Repos but think they will be over our budget!!

For those of you who have cruised Thanksgiving.....is the ship decorated for the Holidays?? And does it "feel" like Thanksgiving? We will be leaving some disgruntled family at home (what...your going away for Thanksgiving....) and I don't want to miss the Thankgiving feel......if that makes sense!!

It will be Me (turning 40 on our upcoming cruise!!), DH (Turning 40 just before Thanksgiving cruise!!) and DD and DS, twins who will be 10 for the Thanksgiving cruise!!

I'll keep checking in.....and will know more either the 31st or when we get back!!

Oh yeah....am I correct that this cruise will be a special Western Double Dip!!??

Good morning all - YEP to a DD at CC - The teens did not seem too impressed by that, but I explained to them that they did NOT have to get of the Magic each time - only if they wanted. So that made them happy. DD wanted to know why we had to cruise then - after I explained she was good with the idea. Dnephew wanted to do the REPO and after I explained that even the TDAY cruise was not planned - till THEY planned it - and that our budget was not planning on two cruises in 5 years - they accepted the Tday one instead of the REPO...

I think the decorations go up the day after Thanksgiving - so that means we would be aboard when they do. That would be nice. Kinda putting us in the spirit ya know...

We cruised the week after Tday this year and LOVED it...But the kids had a horrible :scared1: time getting caught back up with school so it was just not worth it to us to try that again!

so now is the wait time to get the quote - pay the deposit and pick our rooms - I already know which ones we will ask for - since we are going to need adjoining rooms again....

Talk to you all soon...

Basing it on a 2007 cruise for that week - it would be a western as well - our family of 3 - not including air would be 5100 for our deck 2 porthole room.... that is over 1750 more than our 12/2/2006 cruise....

:confused3 :confused3 ohhh well

This might be our first cruise! It is between this and one of the west coast dates. We live in CA, so the west coast would be great, but the cost may be the same as flying to FL and cruising!

As of last night we (along with another family) have decided on Thanksgiving 08 week as our next cruise. We had hoped for a summer 08, but that won't work with the ship missing from the Caribbean. If I have it all right it is the 11/22/08 Alternate Western Caribbean cruise. Right??? I have to have my info right before I book in TWO days.

IT'S OFFICIAL! We're booked in a cat 8. :cool1: I really wanted a cat 6 but just couldn't justify paying $225/DAY more to sit on the verandah. I don't plan on being in the room that much anyway. Our friends also booked and they will have a verandah. I told her I'd just rent a chair on hers.:rotfl:

Anyone have any plans yet? :cool1:

We're definitely interested in the Mayan Ruins in Costa Maya! I think the kids will be good ages for it (12, 10 & 8). In Cozumel, we'll just hang out at Chankanaab. We did the Dolphin Swim this past November and it is EXCELLENT!!!! Well worth EVERY penny spent (we did it on our own). Maybe we'll do the Sea Lions this time, who knows...

Since we're at CC twice, I'd like to do one excursion at least - maybe something along the lines of a Kayak or Jet Ski (don't know about the kids, yet).

Nothing like planning ahead! :woohoo:

Are you kidding?? DD (now 12) would have the entire trip planned if she could just find out what excursions will be offered at Costa Maya! She's planned the teen party for the older kids, parasailing, and banana boat rides at CC. She would like to do a horseback ruin tour at Cozumel I think and snorkeling somewhere. As she says, she is the travel agent once the tickets were purchased. She actually had everything planned for a summer 08 7-day western until DCL changed the itinerary. We'll have to see what options they give us for the alt western.

Since you went this past Nov, can you tell me what the weather and water temperatures were like????

We are sooooo very excited!!! :woohoo:

Hi cjckclan!

We were on the November 4-November 11th Western. We had FANTASTIC weather! :cool1: Hot, sunny and calm seas!

I hear it did storm over the ship in Grand Cayman, but we were dry as a bone at Stingray City (well, it didn't rain at least and the sun was over us!).

Castaway Cay was beautiful; water was a bit chilly, but the sun and 82 degrees was wonderful.

We did the Personal Watercraft Eco Tour (waverunners) this past December at CC. Excellent excursion - though we were cut short by a bit of bad weather. A cold front came through the day we were at CC and the water temperature was actually preferable to the air temperature when we got off at one of the Eco Tour stops. The waves were very intense as well with the weather. The waves were literally smacking me in the face - gotta love that salt water taste!

As for Costa Maya, there are some excursion descriptions in the Passporter, a few of which appeal to us. I guess we'll have to wait and see if they offer the same ones or not.

If I have my way (and I usually do!) we'll be in shortly. We're (I'm) planning on booking on board in a few weeks (March 17-24). Hopefully the prices don't go up too much before then.

It will be me, DH, DS16, DD13, and DS who will just have turned 2. Our kids will still miss quite a few days of school because our school only gives off Thanksgiving and the Friday after but they're only young once.

We booked this cruise as well...actually we have this AND the Nov. 15th, 2008 booked until I decide for sure which one to do! Maybe some of you can help me decide. Background...we've done Mexico with DCL (in 2005) and will be doing the Eastern Caribbean in a few short weeks (March 3rd). :yay: The cruise in 2008 will be to celebrate my 40th b-day. Kids at that time will be DD11 and DS7.

Thanksgiving cruise...kids would only miss one day of school for travel, but we will have to stay in a cat 8 forward vs. the cat 6 midship we usually get...will I miss the verandah...will the forward location (#7014) cause us motion sickness problems? The Double Dip is definitely appealing. We will visit CC for the first time in a few weeks, but I have a feeling it just might be our favorite port!

Nov. 15th...we can get cat 6 midship for the same price as a cat 8 on the Thanksgiving cruise, but kids will have to miss 6 days of school. Western itinerary is new to us, so that would still be appealing, but we wouldn't get two days at CC.

Any other points I'm missing?

I forgot to mention, travelling with us will be

myself (38)
DH(38)
DD (10)-has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair
DD (8)
DS(7-turns 7 Nov 20, so we'll be celebrating on-board)

We were midship on our first cruise (May 05) so I'm not sure about motion sickness in the front. DD and DS were nausiated the first evening anyway. However we are booked in #7514; AF5FAM is booked one floor above us and had that room their last cruise and loved it. Don't think motion was a problem for them. I'm hoping it isn't a problem for us this trip. I'll be packing the bonine for sure. :thumbsup2 We chose Thanksgiving because the kids would miss the least amount of high school (3 days) other than Christmas - which was out of my price range.
If you stick with this one, we'll see you at the stairway since we are just opposite you.:)

We are getting ready to cruise in a few weeks on the Eastern for spring break. We'll be there with DutchGirlScout--hi Stacie! We already booked this cruise, but I'm hoping the prices will not go up between now and March 17th so I can rebook onboard and get the discount and onboard credit. If things work out the way I'd like them to, I'll cancel our current reservation and get a much better deal on the ship.:)

Here are my answers to your questions:

1. By the time this cruise gets here, it will be our third Disney cruise. We did the 3 night last June, are doing the eastern in March, and will do the DD in 08.

2. I sortof already answered this in my previous answer, but we are cruising in a little over five weeks:cool1: for spring break on the eastern.

3. We have late dining. (We're farmers and are used to eating late.;) )

4. I don't really have a favorite show. I loved all of them on our 3 night cruise!

5. I am hoping that Palo's will be our new favorite restaurant. We didn't go there in June but have reservations for dinner and brunch on our March cruise. I was pleasantly surprised by all of the food at the restaurants on our June cruise though.:)

6. I would have to say that I have several favorites but my two most memorable ones would be getting our name announced and stepping on that ship for the first time and the sailaway party. I love hearing the ship's horn, and we did actually see dolphins swimming next to the ship when we left Pt. Canaveral. It was the coolest thing ever!

7. We don't have a favorite for lunch, but my kids would say anything as close to the pool as possible!

1. This will be cruise #2 - We did a 4 day DCL in May 05 and have been trying for a 7 day western.....

2. NO cruise until 11/08. .... not sure how we'll last until then. I'll just have to live vicariously through y'all and your trip reports.

3. Main dinner seating. How do you request which early seating time and rotation?

4. Loved all the shows, but we especially enjoyed a ventrilliquist on ours.

5. Palo - hands down favorite! :thumbsup2

6. Pirate night was our favorite .... as you might be able to tell from my signature. pirate:

7. Don't exactly have a "usual" lunch spot since we've only been on one cruise so far.

Crashing this thread as we are now officially booked to dine like the Pilgrims, Disney-style. Here are answers to your most pressing questions:

1) What # cruise will this one be for you? If I can count correctly, we just did #3 and after 3 comes...4. Yep, that would be number 4 for us.

2) Are you cruising anytime between now and then (on any cruiseline)? No - we just got back from the NYE cruise on the Magic and one can only fork over so much money to the four fingered fur ball. But, we are available for adoption if you are interested in bringing our family of five on your cruise. I can also be hired as scribe for your adventures...and I hardly take up any room.

3) Main or Late Dining?
Late...better to go to bed on a full stomach, right? Besides, it's like one long extended dinner show when you throw in the obligatory buffet IMMEDIATELY following your late dinner.

4) Favorite show on any Disney Ship?
Mickey Mom Smack Down...alright, you would have to read my TR to understand that....

5) Favorite Restaurant on and Disney Ship?
Definately Palo - I mean where else can you find a calorie laden brunch where you instantly gain 20 pounds just by stepping in the restaurant.

6) Favorite Activity on any Disney Ship?
Playing hide and seek with my family. Basically, I hide out in the adult area, they spend all day figuring out where I disappeared to.

7) Usual place you eat lunch at on boarding day?
Split - done both Parrot Cay or Top Siders, but last two cruises was Parrot Cay. Last ones in the restaurant...I think we even had to hunt down the hand wipes.

8) What is your favorite place on the ship
Cruise Director Brent's room...oh, no not that...uh, anyplace relatively quiet. Secret Deck 7 is always a winner - now if I could just figure out how to steal one of those day beds from the Spa Alone time, I'm all set.

Cruising with me - ages now (because disclosing ages 600+ days in advance requires lots of mental math, and I have a brain the size of a pea):

Me, Su (37)
DH Dave (35)
DD Delaney (7)
DS Jack (4)
DS Max (2)

We are also trying to rope in other family members to lessen the guilt of ditching them for Thanksgiving. Stay tuned....

OK...I'll play!! :yay:

1) What # cruise will this one be for you?
It will be our 3rd.

2) Are you cruising anytime between now and then (on any cruiseline)?
Yes--we will be cruising on the Magic in just 25 days!!! (March 3rd Eastern)

3) Main or Late Dining?
Main

4) Favorite show on any Disney Ship?
I really liked the kid's graduation show and Twice Charmed

5) Favorite Restaurant on any Disney Ship?
Palo Brunch

6) Favorite Activity on any Disney Ship?
Listening to the ship's horn at the sailaway...and relaxing on those comfy chairs on deck 4.

7) Usual place you eat lunch at on boarding day?
Parrot Cay is where we ate on cruise #1 and where we plan to eat on cruise #2--I like the idea of setting our carryons down and having drinks served to us while we take turns going to the buffet with the kids.

Cruising in our party will be (with ages at time of the cruise)....
Me, Kim (will be turning 40 Dec 2, 2008! :scared1: )
DH Danny (38)
DD Alexis (11)
DS Hunter (7)

1) What # cruise will this one be for you?
This is our 2nd. We did a four day in January 05 and knew we wanted to do a 7 day the minute we stepped off the ship.

2) Are you cruising anytime between now and then (on any cruiseline)?
Not unless I win the lotto!!:lmao:

3) Main or Late Dining?
Main, I can't sleep on a full stomach and my two youngest would be a mess if they didn't eat until that late.

4) Favorite show on any Disney Ship?
I really enjoyed all the show on our first cruise.

5) Favorite Restaurant on and Disney Ship?
Palo, no contest.

6) Favorite Activity on any Disney Ship?
Hmmm....hard to pin down just one. But afternoon coffee (or hot chocolate) and warm chocolate chip cookies made me feel good all over!

7) Usual place you eat lunch at on boarding day?
Last time we ate at the buffet. Quick, easy and the kids always like a place they can pick out their own food.

8) What is your favorite place on the ship
My veranda watching the sunset with my family.

We are not telling the kids about this until we pick them up from school early on Friday afternoon. :) I wonder if I will be able to keep this a secret for this long?

Question of today: Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

What did you have for breakfast this morning and what are your plans for lunch?

Me - Oatmeal with Berries; Lunch will be Hummus on Pita with Tomatoes, Cuke and Lettuce. :hippie:

I'm going to try real hard to not tell my kids about this cruise either, but I have a BIG mouth and I'm not sure I can do it.:lmao:

What are my plans for lunch? Frozen mini-pizzas. Sounds like I have terrible eating habits, huh?:confused3

We've mentioned the cruise in front of the kids, but I don't think they realize we are talking about OUR rip and not someone elses. I'm a travel agent and work from home so they hear about vacations all the time. We are going to Disneyland in 10 days and have yet to tell them about that trip! Its been planned for 8 months, so its been a secret for a long time!

Breakfast: haven't eaten yet, but have a non-fat mocha being made rightnow and will probably have a bowl of honey nut cherrios later. Lunch: no clue!

Disneylover5 thanks for the picture! We'll be in one of the cat 11 accessible rooms(and a regular cat 11 next door) right inside from there, so I'm sure we'll be out there daily!

You know, he's got that whole prematurely gray hair thing going on, the Officer and Gentleman suit and that accent...sometimes one can daydream of life on the boat? If you want a good laugh, read my TR and how Brent started out the NY helping my family. Poor guy.

For breakfast - it was a toss-up of drive throughs, it's like -100 in Chicago right now and my car seats were made of granite. So, I hit the Dunkin Donuts drivethrough for a Hot Tea and Low Fat Blueberry muffin. I have a conference call during lunch, so my lunch will likely consist of me eating my notebook. Dinner - no clue, but after looking at 10,000 recipes today, I'll probably have that figured out by 4:00.

1) What # cruise will this one be for you?
This will be our 4th. The first was a land/sea in Dec of 05, we were supposed to do the 12/9/06 Double Dip but somehow I became pregnant :confused3 and baby wouldn't have been old enough.

2) Are you cruising anytime between now and then (on any cruiseline)?
We are cruising on the 3/17 Eastern (to make up for the DD we missed) and the 12/15 Western

3) Main or Late Dining?
Late--we'll be lucky to make it to dinner by 8:00, we're always rushing

4) Favorite show on any Disney Ship?
We only went to Disney Dreams on our last one and then regretted not going to any of the others.

5) Favorite Restaurant on and Disney Ship?
Palo--My DH and I figured out that we can go twice because we have two staterooms!

6) Favorite Activity on any Disney Ship?
I love everything about it. I liked the Sailaway party, the Pirate party, sitting on my verandah, hanging out with my kids, watching movies in our PJs......ok that's enough. Obviously my family thought it was ok too. They don't even care if we go to WDW or not before the cruise they just wanted to take a longer cruise.

7) Usual place you eat lunch at on boarding day?
We came on the resort bus last time and arrived right before the restaurants closed. We got food at Topsiders then there was no place to sit. When we found I place to sit out on deck I promptly spilled my drink all over my plate of food. Not a good experience. Next time will be better I'm sure (can't be much worse). Parrot Cay is my DDs favorite place to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Su--I have to say that your NYE trip report was one of the funniest things I've ever read. There definately will not be a dull moment on this cruise if your family is on board!!! If I see plates of food falling over or sickness spreading or any other weird phenomenon I say "I'm sure Su's family was nowhere around!"

By the way, we aren't officialy onboard yet but DD12 is working on her dad hard, especially since she knows DisneyPoor's family is going to be onboard. I can't remember DH telling her no more than a couple times so I'm pretty sure when we come back from spring break we'll be official.

We booked a cat. 9 although we'd love the verandah. The cat. 6's are close to $2800 more!:scared1: Do you think that is because lots of people are booking the sixes? Question of the Day February 9th, 2007

It's sunny and 85 degrees out and your sitting with your feet in the water at Castaway Cay. You can hear Jimmy Buffet playing from the Conked Out Bar and there isn't a cloud in the sky. Here comes the drink waiter... WHAT do you order?

It will be all nine of us (see signature below), and we are booked in three category 11s all next to each other on deck 7. We decided to go without verandahs and save some money this time. We did the double dip Magic last October and ended up spending very little time in our staterooms.

Definately the ruins. The 12/09/06 Double Dippers arranged a tour with David and Ivan and they gave rave reviews in their trip reports. They customized it to where they still had time to go shopping and/or do other things in port.

Jackie--I'm so glad you had a wonderful trip! Can you tell me how the rebooking onboard went? Did you have to "repay" your deposit or just actually transfer everything over? We booked on the 31st as well but hope to rebook onboard on our March cruise to save some $. Was it still 10 percent and $200 onboard credit? Did it save you much? TIA for any help! I keep checking Disney's website every day to see if the price of this cruise has gone up or not.:surfweb: I'm hoping it doesn't before March 17th!:surfweb:

We re-booked with Leslie. She was wonderful. What she told me is, she is able to transfer a ressie and get the on board perks if....
#1 if you booked directly with DCL and not through a TA
#2 is the cruise is not sold out or the catagory you want is not in gty status.

The 10% off will be for the price of the room on the date you re-book, not what you booked it for on the 31st. It didn't change in the 4 or 5 days between my changes. Hopefully it won't change before March!

What she did was transfer the ressie (basically cancelled it and rebooked it immediately) and also transferred the deposit.
I got 10% of the cruise rate (not including tax, charges or insurance) and did get the $200 OBC.
We saved almost $400 for the same room plus the $200 OBC......Pixie dust!!

I would definitely be interested in putting together a group for David & Ivan. I have already emailed them about the date (November 25h, 2008) and will let you know what I find out. We would be interested in doing the trip early in the morning so there is no rush back to the ship in the afternoon.

Jackie--thank you so much for getting back to me on my rebooking questions. Now I'm just crossing my fingers that the prices don't go up! I did book directly through DCL, so I'm safe there. I am constantly checking this trip on DCL's site to see if prices have gone up. The other day when I checked, there were no cat. 9's listed.:confused3 I then checked later in the day and they were back again. Not sure what that was all about, but it did put me in panic mode.:lmao:

Question of the Day February 9th, 2007

It's sunny and 85 degrees out and your sitting with your feet in the water at Castaway Cay. You can hear Jimmy Buffet playing from the Conked Out Bar and there isn't a cloud in the sky. Here comes the drink waiter... WHAT do you order?

:

Sorry, still getting caught up on this thread.....
My answer...favorite sittin' in the sun drink...Margarita (on the rocks with salt)....But....favorite last Friday....2 for 1 Bahama Mamas!!:woohoo:

Hi Everyone!

I have an official reservation from David & Ivan! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We are all set for Tuesday, November 25, 2008. The tour starts one hour after the Magic docks in Costa Maya. We'll have to take the small bus into the main village to meet them.

I cannot wait! Who else will be on our tour with us? I asked them if my kids could bring anything down for the local school children - I will let you know what they say.

I can't believe I have a confirmed reservation for November 25, 2008 already! How funny is THAT?

Their new website is www.thenativechoice.com. I hope that works!!!

You will need to take the bus from the Port into the small village nearby. It costs $3 per person. Once you are in the small village and check in, they take care of all the transportation from there on.

 Costa Maya done...

Cozumel will be Chankanaab - snorkeling. Hopefully the rest will be open by then!

Castaway Cay - hanging... soaking in the sun.

What else am I supposed to do for the next 20 months? :confused3

Definitely hoping to snorkel in Cozumel although DD would like to do the horseback riding/mayan ruin tour. I noticed a few snorkeling excursions won't let people with asthma participate. DS(16 at cruise time) has asthma, but it is very much under control; he rarely uses an inhaler. Do you think they would let him participate if we had clearance in writing from his doctor??

Yes, we've been friends since 1988! (Can it really be that long?) The above mentioned incident happend on our dream vacation together to Disney World a few years ago. We'd planned forever to take a trip to Orlando "when the kids are old enough to remember it" and we were finally stationed together near St. Louis so ROADTRIP! And there we were, driving along on cruise control in the right hand lane with cjckclan in front, somewhere in Kentucky:drive: when out of nowhere CRUNCH!!!! As I look in the rearview mirror I see a body and motorcycle fly through the air, we flash the lights, pull over and my DH runs back to see what happened. Turns out the guy fell asleep (yes while driving a motocycle down the road at 75 MPH!!) and just ran into the back bumper of our van. Luckily since he was asleep and flew into the soft sand along the side of the road, he walked away with only minor injuries! My van had an interesting stripe on the bumper, the width of a motorcycle tire, and other than shot nerves we were all fine.:scared: So we did the only logical thing and drove on for a wonderful week staying at the Contemporary and hitting all the parks.pixiedust:

:rotfl: Ok, I'll give a quick Trip Report for my quickie Wonder sailing on March 1st, 2007. First, it was supposed to be an adult trip with myself and my dh's cousin. Unfortunately, she cancelled on the morning we were to leave because her husband was very sick. I will update this at the end. :sad1:

So, here I was with 6 hours to leave and nobody to go with me so I call DCL to see if I can take my cousin off and add my two daughters (6 & 8). It was a go, so I called the airlines (Southwest) added them and packed quickly. When they got home from school, I told them the news and we left 30 minutes later.

We flew into Orlando and crashed at the Rasisson at the Port - nice hotel. We took the 10am shuttle and arrived at the Port at 10:01am. LOL...

Checked in, and sat around for 1 hour and 45 minutes. :rolleyes1

We had boarding card number 2 so we were almost first on the ship - went directly to lunch at PC (little bit cold out). Had lunch, tried to switch Dining (we had 8:30pm - too late for little ones). We were switched to 8pm with a Japanese family who spoke a little Broken English. Not too much fun and my girls were falling asleep. :guilty: Ate quickly and went to bed.

Friday - woke up early, had breakfast at BBB, played Hide N Go Seek in Route 66 (OMG that was fun!), played Checkers in Diversions all before 8:30am. :rotfl: Oh the Joys of early risers...

Sat at the Goofy Pool all day long - 9:00am to 3:00pm and got BURNT! Well, sitting on the edge in the sun wasn't very comfortable and it wasn't what I had planned (think sleeping by the adult pool, drinking and snoozing). Took a nap until dinner and then had dinner up at BBB (sit down service was EXCELLENT). Saw the Golden Mickeys AGAIN... :headache:

Blah blah blah... cut to Castaway Cay. Cloudy and breezy in the morning, sunny in the afternoon - got SO burnt and sick... Went to the infirmary due to constant heart palpatations, naseau, shivering, dizzyness. They were closed so we went to Dreams instead. Went right to bed afterwards but was up all night "praying to the porcelain God" if you get my drift. :sad1: Note to everyone- there is NO Gatorade onboard. Nada. Nothing.

Highlights: IAN so totally ROCKS and Brent is just plan GORGEOUS!    Sign me up anytime for the Wonder! :yay:

We didn't see Anna Nicole's funeral even though we were in Nassau on Friday - we stayed on the ship because of the media circus and well, being alone with two little girls...

Bored yet? Kinda a quiet cruise - no dinners past the first one, I didn't even step foot into Shutters! And get this, other than the obligitory ONE Konk Kooler, I didn't even drink. I know, so sad... But my room charge total came to....

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
$17.61  :cool1:  :cool1:  :cool1:

I actually saved MORE money (for myself and some others) than it cost me to actually sail on the Wonder. Well, not including airfare and the Radisson and the Wilderness Lodge afterwards. But you get the idea...

Bye!

Update on my Cousins' husband: He was diagnosed with stomach cancer which is in his lymph nodes and they are giving him 10 months to live. He has a 7 year old son and 2 year old twins. :( Please say a prayer that he receives a miracle and survives. Thanks.

Karen--thank you for the TR! I'm so sorry about your cousin's husband. He will be in my prayers! I bet your DD's were so excited! I would love to surprise my kids like that. We haven't told them about this DD cruise yet, and I'm going to try to keep it a secret. However, I am like a big kid! I just can't keep my mouth shut--I want to share the excitement!:rolleyes1 We'll see how it goes.

I can't believe you only spent a little over $17! You should get some sort of reward for that!:) I'm going to try to keep spending down (we leave for our eastern next weekend), but I'm kindof worried!

Again, thanks for sharing your trip with us! It makes me that much more excited for our cruise on the 17th!

OK Dis friends, looking for just a little sympathy today. I'm home from work with my 3 year old DD who seems to have contracted the infamous Rotavirus from her preschool! (For those of you unfamiliar with this particular malady it involves repeated evacuations of all bodily fluids through every exit you can imagine  !!)

So my day started out normal, but took a nasty turn when I returned to the car after dropping off my Kindergartner and there were no less than 4 missed calls in an 8 minute period. Being the calm, experienced mother of three I immediately assume either the house is on fire, or one of my two children at home is lying bleeding on the floor.:scared1: When I try to call back, the line is continuously busy (meaning my 13 1/2 year old is still calling me or talking to 911 on the phone!!) At last about 3 minutes from home I get through and my oldest answers and says, "mom Hannah is throwing up." AArrgh...after biting back my first response to scaring me to death, I tell her to calm down and I'll be right home. I slow the van to sub-light speed and whip into the driveway, knowing that it's probably not going to get any better today.

Did I mention my husband works out of town during the week and is only home on the weekends? So my next issue will be how to get my oldest DD to middle school for her last day of FCAT testing (state achievement tests) with a three year old who definitely looks a little green around the gills. Yep, you guessed it, "Hear honey, hold this big blue plastic bowl just in case." To say she looked horrified would be an understatement. But we're on the road and it's only a 15 minute round trip. Five minutes into the trip I know I'm in trouble when the low pitched groaning begins from the back seat..."honey hold the bowl under your chin and spit in there." DD promptly grabs the bowl and holds it vertically covering her entire face. "No, no down like this." Whew, the bowl serves it's purpose and I turn to the 13 year old for a little back up. She looks at me in like I've grown another head and says, "I can't help wipe her chin, I'll get sick, too." With visions of the Allstate commercials on TV I'm now driving with one hand, holding the blue bowl steady in the back seat, and possibly growing that second head as I give oldest DD the stink eye!!

With a silent prayer and the blessing of living in a smaller town with slow moving traffic I make it home without having to add cleaning out the car to my new list of jobs for the day!! What I did add is washing 5 sets of PJ's, underware, my sweatshirt, and the bathroom rugs :laundy: She's sleeping now, so joined you all for a sanity break. I do have all the afternoon pick-ups covered and I'm really hoping this is a 24 hour bug!! Of course my next post could be Rotavirus returns if the other two get it.:scared1:

Thanks for letting me vent. Those of us in the trenches have to stick together.

AF5FAM: Oh NO!! :scared1: This may qualify as "one of those days" that make you ask yourself, "Why did I volunteer for parenthood duty??" :confused3 Make sure DH hears this story so he responds appropriately upon walking in the door this weekend, i.e. draw the bubble bath, pour the wine, and remove children from the premises. You'll need some peace and quiet and definitely deserve it. We'll be praying for Hannah's quick recovery, your sanity, and the other two DDs ability to stay well under your radar.

Hi ladies, thanks for the prayers and pixie dust! Hannah does seem to be feeling better today, with only a couple of mild potty explosions this morning. She's playing school with her stuffed animals again so definietly on the mend.:thumbsup2 Unfortunatley I had to pick DD #2 up from Kindergarten about mid-morning because...you guessed it she's got it now, too! So far her's seems to be a somewhat milder case so keeping my fingers crossed that I won't have to do as much laundry with this one!

DH called last night to check in and we laughed about my crazy morning road trip. Then only half joking he said, "Well maybe I shouldn't come home this weekend...you know for health reasons!" I then informed him if he wanted to remain healthy in a permanent way, he'd better cruise through the door on time, even if it's in full chem gear and a gasmask!! Hope you all have a great weekend.

Hey Lorie,

Still thinking of you and sending you healthy vibes! I would start guzzling Airborne like crazy if I were you (and your husband)!

To Everyone!!!!

Are we getting any closer to our cruise yet? I know as soon as summer gets here, it will fly by and then we'll be under a year away! :cool1: I have got so many surprises for this cruise; I hope they all work out!

The Kids don't know (and hopefully won't until either a week before or the day we leave... not sure yet). DH doesn't know that our best friends are coming! Lots of fun...

I figure if we tell the kids the week before, they can be excited for the week leading up to leaving. I love it when they are excited! Plus, they won't know that our best friends are coming as well - that's a surprise for the hotel the night before (Radisson at the Port).

OK, off to go to the Philharmonic today... cold, sunny day in Buffalo. popcorn::

Take care...

Hey gang ... add me to the list of Thanksgiving 2008 cruisers. I had rebooked while on board our past (and first cruise) in Nov. 2006 and finally got around to transferring my "fake" booking to this sailing. I'll be traveling with a party of 15 (up from the party of 8 I traveled with on our past cruise) and will be staying in the same set of rooms on Deck 6 Forward. My immediate family includes

Me (Jason)
DW
DS10 (at sailing)
DS8 (at sailing)
DD6 (at sailing)

Now that my plans are made, its time that I finally get around to finishing the trip report I started (and almost completed) from Nov. 2006.

Disneylover5 -- I'm glad to see we will be sailing together again. I look forward to seeing your daughter on the "big screen" during the pre-shows.

DH and I are traveling with our DD's who will be 5 and 7 then. My parents, DS, and DBIL are coming too. I'm glad to see I'm not the only hyper-planner who is already planning a trip so far in advance!

So, do any of you have connecting Cat 10's on Deck 5 or 7 (5022, 5024, 5522, 5524, 7005, 7007, 7505, or 7507)? I might make myself crazy if I keep this up for 20 months!!!

We are happy to say we'll be joining this thread!! We booked our Thanksgiving Cruise this week (early dining/cat 9 room). This will be our second time on the Magic. Last trip was Oct 21 2006 Western and we loved it. Right now it's just our family of four

Me
Dh
DS will be 7
DD will be 5

but we're hoping to talk some friends/family into joining us. On the last trip, we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary and did the vow renewal onboard. It was a blast but this trip we're looking forward to a little more R&R. The kids LOVE to order room service for breakfast and then go to the kids club. Dh and I will be enjoying more pool and spa time and then sitting by the Cove Cafe as we watch the sun set.

We definitely want to visit the Mayan Ruins (our children are part Mayan Indian) and maybe do the Dolphin swim in Coz... but we'll see. This trip we will spend less time trying to force the kids out of the clubs to do activities with us, and instead let everyone focus on doing what they love most. I can't wait to get to CC and relax on the adult beach.

I haven't read through this whole thread. I'll have to do that when I have a little more time.

Hello all!! We just got home from the 3/17 Eastern Sailing of the Magic. It was a great time. While onboard we gave up our mid-ship cat 3 suite (for two connecting cat 6s). It might still be open if anyone is interested.

The travelling turkeys are a chatty bunch!! I can't beleive how many posts I've missed. It sounds like a lot of you already know each other. For others, like me, who don't like to feel lost, I'm willing to set up a website for this group so we can put faces with names, and the kids can get connected beforehand. Let me know if your interested.

I can't beleive that noone mentioned one of our reasons to book a Thanksgiving cruise:
NO HAVING TO BE WITH FAMILY AT THANKSGIVING!!! (I guess that may seem strange to some but Christmas and Easter are close enough together for me. If I can find a way to get out of Thanksgiving dinner (root canal, mysterious illness, Disney Cruise) I will jump at the chance!

Hmm..What not to do at a cruise meet? Meet by the pool, wear a green Mickey head sticker on your forehead ( though personally it's a fashion statement), put said sticker in your (very cool Panama Jack hat) hatband, ask strange women wearing green bathing suits if they are looking for a party, I mean cruise meet. Thats all I can remember, we were sitting next to the bar after all. Suzanne, if I forgot anything I'm sure some one in our group will remind me:confused3

Hi, everyone! We also just returned from the 3/17 Eastern.:cool1: I have to say that on Friday while we were at CC, all I could think about was the fact that we will all get to be there TWICE for this trip! That sounds heavenly to me! Although we had a wonderful time on our eastern, I still think that CC was the best part.

I'm sortof going through cruise withdrawal right now, so I'm so happy we're booked on this DD and that we already have a thread going for it!:goodvibes

My DD will be 13 and my DS will be 10 when we do this cruise. DD loves to make friends beforehand and can't wait to hopefully see two of her friends from this past cruise on the DD!

Have a great week everyone!

Nope Kenny... you got them all! ps..when weren't you sitting by the bar???

As far as not being with the family....my mil and her hubby is coming and I'm trying to convince my sil and my dad to come along to. I love being with the family for the holidays...just figured I wouldn't have to be cooking a turkey this time around!!!

Good morning all!
We ended up in Buffalo an extra day....CAUSE WE MADE IT TO THE FINALS!
We lost the final game...but the boys were incredible! We did make it to the Falls, Toronto to the Hockey Hall of Fame and many, many hours by the pool!

Welcome new arrivals since I left...and welcome back cruisers!!

I have to snap back into reality and get to work! I'll try to catch up with all the posts later!!

Helllloooo, Traveling Turkeys! We're another family just off the 3/17 Eastern cruise that has rebooked with you guys. :woohoo: I'd love to know what DCL does during Thanksgiving week to make the holidays special for those onboard. Also, if anyone has a son who is around 9 right now that likes to email, please let me know. I'm glad this is a talkative bunch...I've got lots to read back through! Everybody have a great day! :goodvibes

:cheer2: WhooHoo and congratulations to the team!! Sounds like your "southern boys" held their own against those from the frozen north.

We're headed out of town for part of Spring break to visit the area we're moving to this summer. First on the agenda is looking at schools, then a little preliminary house hunting. It's hard to get serious about that until we sell this one, but we need to at least get a feel for neighborhoods, etc. We've had a four showings, but no offers yet. Think positive, think positive. Have a great week.

To all, I think we should be able to plan an awesome cruise meet with this much lead time. :rotfl2:

Ok you Double Dipping Travelling Turkeys---Just why are we hiding on page 3 of the cruise meet thread? Maybe because it's Thursday and despite being sunny and spring all week it's grey and cloudy today.

Stacie -- it may take me a few weeks to compile all that information:eek:

Seriously, thanks for taking the laboring oar in putting such a website together. My family is headed to FL in a couple of days for Spring Break (sadly, not to WDW), so it will probably be a couple of weeks before you hear from me. (It really will take me a little while to gather the information for the 15 people in my traveling group).

Morning all!
Stacie, thanks for compiling the info! I will work on that next!

We have an offer on our house!:cool1: :cool1: Now I just need to hold my breath until the papers are signed and inspections are complete!! How about you Lorie? Any bites??

I just noticed we have dipped down into the TEENs as far as our months until the trip go! 19 months sounds so much better than 20!!

Have a great weekend!!

It will be cruise #11 or #12 for us. (We have another DCL booked for 12/07, but not sure if we are going. We sailed on a DD back in July 2006 and absolutely loved the itinerary. Beginning and ending the cruise at CC is the perfect cruise for us.

We sailed 3/17/07 with Disneypoor and GreenTad. It was a fantastic cruise. Spent the night before cruise at Country Inn and Suites and was very happy with hotel and tokk advantage of free parking and shuttle service.

By brother and his family along with our parents will be joining us. It will be their first cruise. A total of 10 in our sailing party.

Hi all, back from Spring break. Where do people from Florida go for Spring break you ask?? Why to south Georgia to look at schools and the housing market for our upcoming move.:upsidedow Ok so we got to go to WDW for Fall break so don't feel too bad for me. :goodvibes

Congrats Jackie on your offer, we've had some lookers but no offers yet.:sad1: We still have time, but it's really, really hard to wait (and keep the house in order. Still looking into that velcro wall to keep the kids and their stuff in order!)

Stacie, I work in a church so this week before Easter is going to be crazy but I'll get on the info and pictures next week. Thanks for taking that on for us.

Time to end the mother of all Mondays, starting back after a vacation is always hard on everyone. :laundy:

Sweet dreams,

Somehow I think that Turkey and stuffing will taste a whole lot better on DCL. Then again, any meal that I don't have to prepare, and clean up tastes better.

Lorie--Welcome back from Spring Break. Hopefully you'll get an offer soon. Before we sold our house last fall we had most of our "stuff" in storage and ate out and were gone constantly just to keep our house clean and the kids from being bored.

Susan--Sorry you got bashed on the thread about our cruise being full. I knew what you meant and didn't think it came across bad. It's weird that Bill (IrishCowboy) was told something completly different than you.

Yes we finally changed our reservation from Easter 2008 and booked for Thanksgiving 2008. We are very excited. It is our second cruise 1st was 11/4/06-11/11/06. Kids enjoyed it! DH and I felt like there was so much we missed doing....

DW - 40 at time of cruise
DH - 37 at time of cruise
DD - 15 at time of cruise
DS - 11 at time of cruise

Welcome!!! November of 2008 seems so far away but I'm sure the time will fly. My DD is looking forward to this cruise because she'll be old enough for the Stack, much to the dissapointment of my DS who will be 16 on this cruise. So far it's always been "his" place.

Did you cruise in Hawaii or just visit? DisneyPoor (Susan) is going on a cruise to Hawaii next year.

I've wanted to go to the Grand Canyon for several years, but I always get out-voted. 2005 - 4-day Disney cruise won :cool1: ; 2006 - rollercoaster vactation (3 amusement parks and Gettysburg for good measure); 2007 - a small trip so we can save for 2008 DD Travelling Turkey cruise.

Our small vacation this year is taking shape as a day of whitewater rafting before we drop DS off at scout camp. I would like to add a day of kayak lessons to that, but the kids are campaigning for another trip to Busch Gardens (Williamsburg, VA) since there is a NEW, WAY COOL rollercoaster opening in May. I think they missed the Behind the Scenes at Disney which aired on the Travel Channel last weekend. I noticed some new attractions that would have them drooling, and NO, I don't plan to tell them about it. :rolleyes1 There just isn't enough time or money to do it all. :sad2:

Sorry, still in full Easter prep at work and had a long rehearsal tonight. But we must try harder to stay off of page three!!!

Summer plans are a little uncertain for us. Moving is going to take out a pretty good chunk of vacation time, but we are going to take a four day trip to Jeckell (sp?) Island, Georgia for my DH's work the end of May!! The university is paying for everything except a small additional fee for the extra people in his suite. The trip is only a couple days after our 22nd wedding anniversary so he's getting bonus points this year!! Other than that I hope to make a trip with the kids to see our CJCKClan buddies in St. Louis:hug:

Also, I grew up in Arizona so ask away with any questions you have. I love going to the Grand Canyon, no picture on earth captures the vastness and beauty of standing on the rim. My brother, niece and some of their friends are hiking into the Canyon this summer in late July. Let me know what kind of time frame you're looking at and I can let you know what's in the surrounding areas that you can get to pretty easily.

Time for bed. In case I don't get back befor then, Happy Easter to all!

Hey Kim. Welcome to the thread. I don't think we ever met on the 11/4/06 cruise, but I know we exchanged messages. I think we joked about having a precruise meet at DeLorenzo's. There was plenty we missed out on during the sailing as well, but our days were filled to the brim with what we chose to do.

Right now I'm in South Florida on Sping Break with the kids. Anyone ever go to or hear of Wannado City at Sawgrass Mills? What a cool place for kids ... almost Disney like. There's one planned for NJ later this year at the Meadowlands entertainment complex that is to be built.

Summer plans include a trip to ...where else...? Disney World. With the weather we're having up here it can't get here soon enough! We might try to hit up Universal (gasp!) Never been there so if anyone has any tips it would be great!

Kim..we were on the Nov 4-11 2006 cruise as well. I'm sure we'll get to meet this time around. I sense there will be a better "cruise meet" planning committee than the last time. Fortunately we did get to meet the others before and throughout the cruise. Now we're stuck with each other! (I wouldn't have it any other way!!)

How many more days???

Marie (DD - 14 @ cruise time)

The Easter Bunny better have his long underwear on!!!

Lorie--I'll be sure to ask away if we decide to go. DH owns his own business and is notorious for coming home on a Friday and saying let's go on vacation next week. Maybe that's why I feel the need to pre-plan and over-plan our DCL vacations :confused3
