After Tammy's post, I thought it might be fun for everybody to post pictures of their cake, or if you are still planning your wedding, pictures of ideas for what you want your cake to look like. Let the pictures begin! :wizard:

My cake was the standard castle with a little flair. I had them add gold to the tips of the flowers and the flowers also must have been sprayed with some type of edible glitter, it just sparkled! Most amazing cake I've ever seen or tasted!

Anniversary - Almond/Amaretto
Top - Almond Amaretto
Middle - Marble/Chocolate Mousse & Peanut Butter Mousse
Bottom - Marble/Raspberry Mousse & Chocolate Shavings (Best Layer)

We had an Intimate Wedding but upgraded to a custom cake. It tasted amazing!! Marble with raspberry mousse. Even the top layer, after being in the freezer for a year, was still yummy!!

Thank you! Actually, I came up with the design myself. I knew I wanted a square cake and I wanted flowers on top and cascading down the layers. Initially I wanted 3 layers, but I knew that would be entirely too much for our 8 guests! I found a couple pictures of similar cakes on-line and sent those pictures to my EM, along with a detailed description of what I wanted. They charged, I think, $265 to make it and it was done, I believe, by the WL bakery (as we got married on Sunrise Terrace). I loved that cake, it was as delicious as it was beautiful :lovestruc

Thank you we loved it too, I designed it myself and drew a picture for the lady who made it, she did it perfect just what we wanted. She did have abit of trouble cutting out the mickey and minnie's, the bestman who's mum made it spent days walking round wdw looking for something to cut round, he ended up buying a bracelet and they used one of the beads as the template to cut them out. They looked great.

I don't mind at all if you would like yours simular, you are very welcome to use my picture, it would look beautiful with the mickeys and minnies in your choosen colours.

I'd love to see what you decide on.

Good Luck with everything.

You've made my day you really have, I'm so glad somebody loved the cake as much as I did, I think all my family thought it was cute but there not as disney mad as me.

I think I may use black ribbon with fushia Mickey and Minnie heads. I'm using the Mickey and Minnie cake topper my parents did for their vow renewal.

It's beautiful, I hope you had a great reception, we had our on the 28th Oct we had a wonderful night, we asked for a 3 tier cake but the lady surprised us with a 4 tier, and then a surprise chocolate one and a surprise sponge one so we had alot of cake that night, I wanted the mickey and minnies to stand out abit thats why I had some in pink and I loved the pearls and ribbon, I'd looked at that many cakes, I thought I'd best draw what I wanted and to see if she could do it and she did, she did it better than we could of asked for, she also feeds here cakes with brandy for 4 weeks, so they are very boozey, everyone liked that bit, not me I don't like fruit cake so I didn't have any, I had some of the chocolate one it was lovely.

Here's my cake - which isn't a disney cake but it was inspired by the mad hatter cakes: http://us.a2.yahoofs.com/users/u3FNcd_KBWHh/__sr_/a1e1.jpg?tkn=phsEGeFBZ6G42k77&saveas=wedding+cake

I saw the individual cakes in a bridal magazine early on in the planning stages and just loved'em. I also loved the mad hatter styles so I got the best of both worlds! My *only* issue is that the blue was supposed to be a darker blue, but I'm the only one that caught that mistake!

I too wasn't a disney bride (we had a disneymoon tho!) but I ADORED my cake. The top and bottom layers were chocolate almond, and the middle layer was strawberry. The front of it mocked the front of my dress (it had a split down the middle of the organza :))

i love the nintendo grooms cake!!

Sorry to ask but being from the uk I'm unsure as to what a grooms cake is?

Here's one meaning of it. Basically it's really a gift from the Bride to the Groom. Sometimes given at the rehearsal dinner.

According to superstition, any single woman at a wedding should go home with a slice of groom's cake and sleep with it under her pillow. That night, according to legend, she'll dream of her future husband. Whether or not the folklore holds true, it seems that the old Southern tradition of the groom's cake is making a comeback not only in the South but in metropolitan areas all over the nation, where designers are whipping up elaborate confections that reflect the groom's interests in a dramatic and memorable way.

I love all these cakes! I am not going to be a disney bride, but I will be in WDW for my honeymoon! I am just starting my wedding planning & I'm stuck on what style of cake to have. Looking at all these pics of cakes is giving me some ideas. Those of you who have had groom cakes-when did you have it? The rehearsal dinner or the day of the wedding? I would love to do one for my fiance, but am not too familiar with the whole process. Is he suppose to know about it or is it a surprise? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks everyone! :bride:

I love all these cakes! I am not going to be a disney bride, but I will be in WDW for my honeymoon! I am just starting my wedding planning & I'm stuck on what style of cake to have. Looking at all these pics of cakes is giving me some ideas. Those of you who have had groom cakes-when did you have it? The rehearsal dinner or the day of the wedding? I would love to do one for my fiance, but am not too familiar with the whole process. Is he suppose to know about it or is it a surprise? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks everyone! :bride:
It was at the reception but we took it back to our room and ate it the next day with some friends right before we went to MNSSHP

But the truly amazing cake was the grooms cake.
My DH and I are gamers so it was only appropriate to have this cake.

My daughter recently received an engagement ring and has always wanted a Disney Wedding. In fact, she is graduating from college in 6 days and one month from now will be doing her Professional Internship in the Disney Wedding Services Department. She was one of the six candidates chosen out of a pool of over 1,200 applicants. So even though she will have the opportunity to see many many cakes and different style weddings, I e-mailed her a pic of yours ~~ It is beautiful ! I especially love the little touches you had them add . May I ask, how many people did you invite that looks like a huge cake?

Thank you so much 2006 Disney Mom! We were very adamant about having a wedding in Disney, but not a Disney wedding, but I needed SOMETHING Disney and the castle cake was the touch I decided to add :) We had 88 guests but the cake was made for 100 and we paid for a cake for 100. I wanted the 4 layers and the tier! I also asked specifically for the flowers to be tipped in gold and for there to be more details, which added on about $50. Most expensive cake ever, but totally worth it IMHO! :) It was such a huge (literally) focal point.

Good luck to your daughter! That is such an amazing opportunity. The DFTW team is a great team to work with. I loved my sales manager, planner and my floral manager. Just really great people. Good luck to her! Thanks again!

Its official for me too, we ordered this cake. Its not a Disney designed cake but they are going to make it for us. Phil is flipping out about the price and the service fee to cut the cake but what can we do, we need a cake.

In my BEO they have listed all white cake but I am going to change it to ivore. Disney is putting fresh floral on it with the battery operated tealights. My cake topper will be our Initial in crystals.

The cake serving fee is what got me! Could not believe how much that added up to!
When we figured out the cost of the cake per slice (I was doing an elaborate custom cake), we realized we would save money by having a less elaborate cake and adding Cinderella's slipper dessert.
Could not believe the cake serving fee was a percentage of your cake cost, not a set fee. They never told us about that. :sad2:
