I am wondering how it works to book the Disney Dining Plan for a stay at SSR using a DVC reservation?
Any info is appreciated! :sunny:

If you are the DVC member then you just callmember services and ask that it be added to your reservation. You must buy it for all members of your party for all nights of the reservation. The plan starts at check in and is good until 11PM of your checkout date. Your will have one CS, TS, and snack per person per number of days. You pay for the plan when you check in. If you are not the DVC member you must have the person who made the reservation for you add the plan to your reservation.

All you need to do is call MS and have them add the DDP to your reservation. The same rules apply as for cash stays -- every person staying on your reservation has to get the dining plan, and they must get it for every night you're booked at the resort.

However, there is no admission purchase requirement for the Dining Plan if you're staying at a DVC resort on DVC points.

Us too, even with all the walking, we gained weight. We are going to have to lay off of the deserts!

That's what killed us too!

Only did desserts on Thanksgiving Day (x2) and one of the buffets. Managed to lose 4 lbs, DH lost 2. Didn't do the DDP, but kept our receipt to analyze it, if it would make sense on our first trip home.

The only problem I see, is our eldest is 10, hence an adult in Disney eyes. Without the plan we were able to order kid's meals for him.

Just make sure you tell them prior to your arrival. We have used it every time we have gone. We love it. It is a lot of food and we usually end up buying meals for people on our last day. Help spread the magic. We even got it for our 2 year old last time we went. He does not like share meals with his older brother and for $10.99 we would spend that a day for him anywhere else. I think you will enjoy it. If you do decide to get it make sure to make your reservations soon as possible. Hope you have a great time.

We are going in a couple of weeks and doing DDP. Any good suggestions at DDT,SSR,MK,MGM, or EPCOT?

At this late date, you will have to ask WDWDINE which restaurants have availability, and go from there. We called in November for Christmas, and had trouble getting ressies for 6 at one table. Be careful of the desserts--I ate everything I was allowed on the plan in October, and gained 15 lbs that I am still trying to lose!! I really loved the DDP, with all that food, but it's one extra thing I have to pay for when I get back home. :guilty:

Can you let me know what "no admission purchase requirement..." means? TIA

If you book the dining plan through CRO, you must buy at least a 1 day MYW pass for each person in your room, even if you own an AP or are buying an AP. DVC does not have that requirement.

(Of course, you still need to purchase admission if you want to visit the parks. The point is that, for reservations at DVC resorts on DVC points, you could purchase admission from any source you wish, or use admission passes you have left-over from a previous trip, or use annual passes.)

exactly one of the reasons it's such a great perc for DVCers & renters:thumbsup2

the CS desserts have turned into pre-packaged items, not worth the calories IMO.

Help!! I called member services a few months back and I told them I wanted the DDP. They said that I did not need to pay in advance that I could pay at check-in. Can someone verify this for me?? I am afraid to get there and have them tell me "sorry". TIA!!

That's correct, you pay at check-in. DVC does not have the option to pay in advance.

Yes, as long as you have had the Dining Plan added to your DVC reservation (it should be noted on the confirmation) you should be all set.

We used the DDP in August of this year. If you love steaks, Le Cellier is great! The Rose & Crown was surprisingly delicious as well! If you love seafood, Capn Jacks is terrific. If you want a nice character DINNER, try the Liberty Tree at MK, the colonial atmosphere is good! For a great family time (food is okay), try the SCI-FI diner. It's campy and really a good family experience. I would also say the Hollywood & Vine is the best dinner buffet. The Princess breakfast at Norway is great if you can't get into Cinderella's. I hope you have a great time! Our Capn Jack's bill was over $400.00! Saved a bunch there!

Don't worry! We used it in August and paid for it at check-in. You just need to reserve it in advance, not pay for it. Also get your AD reservation in ASAP. They fill up fast. If you want to see FANTASMIC, use the dinner package at MGM. It beats waiting in line for 2 hours!

Have a great time! I wish I was still there and the time will fly!
