BWV/BWI opening?

Did BWI and BWV open as one large hotel, at the same time? I was wondering since WL and BC both opened several years before their DVC "counterparts". All 3-BWV, BCV, and VWL-share a common lobby with a hotel. I was just curious as to whether there was any delay between BWI opening and BWV opening. Anyone know?

No, they opened together - 7/1/96 I believe.

I think it's pretty easy to see how the BoardWalk was designed to accommodate both the Inn and Villas right from the start, while BCV and VWL were clearly add-ons. Take a look at the resort maps sometime. Both the BC and WL and very symmetrical in appearance--once you eliminate the Villa wings. At the BC and WL you need to walk past a lot of cash guest rooms and other infrastructure before you reach the Villa wings. At BW, the entrance and registration desk are right in the middle--after you check-in turn left for Villas, right for Inn.
