Ok, I just don't know much about cameras. I have a kodak easyshare digital camera (C310). When I put my 1.0 GB memory card in, I get anywhere between 1200 and 3400 pics depending on the setting. I get the most pics at the 1.1 setting and the least on the 4.0 setting. Does 4.0 mean better pictures??? Will I be able to get my pics online if I use 4.0? Also, what if I use the 3.5 or 3.1 settings? What does this all mean? :confused3

the settings are the pixels.
the higher number means better photos.
but higher quality photos take up more room on your card-there for you get less photos on it.
you can still get your photos on line.

one benefit of using the best quality is you can print your pictures larger...ie my daughter's 4mp can print perfectly fine 8x10s on the finest setting. that also helps if you want to crop something out of a picture & just print one part (ie a water tower in the background you don't want). the higher/finer setting you start with the better it will look when it's finished...cards are cheap enough that imo it's worth using the best setting even if it means buying another memory card or 2. even if you usually just email pics, you never know if someday you might want a larger print and you can't add pixels that were never there to start with
