Can you change format mid card? Does that make sense? I'm shooting a concert tonight (I'll also take tips on that!) w/a meet and greet.
I want to use RAW for the performance but jpg only for the meet and greet. Can I switch mid card? I have more than one card so I can switch, I just didn't want to have to worry about it if I didn't have too.
I know I've changed file size/quality before w/no issues but never RAW to jpg.
Thanks!

Yes you can change, also you could shoot in jpg and in RAW together. MOst cameras will do that.

Cool - I was worried about space. on the card, I only have 1gig cards and I don't want to keep changinig.
I also didn't feel like wasting a lot of RAW space on taking meet and greet pictures of strangers, they are for a website so I don't need anything great of those.
The actual concert photos are for the website but also myself and since it is the 1st one I'd like the RAW in case I really mess things up - I might still have something left to salvage!

You might even want to shoot at Medium or Small JPG to save even more space.

Just an update - I ended up using my S2IS for the meet and greet. The road manager was tougher than expected. He settled down a little after nearly throttling a guy from the nightclub the show was at who was taking shots with a Sony Alpha with external flash.
All and all I got some useable shots and some really HORRID shots. I should have used my 50mm but I wanted the zoom of my 28-135.
Lesson learned...
