Anyone listen to the show this morning? Roger, Rick & Marilyn were broadcasting from the ESPN Club. Tomorrow they are at MK.

You can listen to the show online through the chumfm.com website.

I've been a faithful listener for many years and tune them in on my morning drive to work. It was a big surprize to me to hear them broadcasting from WDW this morning. Nice work if you can get it. :thumbsup2

They just interviewed the Main St. USA barbershop quartet and they performed, it was great :)

Is it weird that I sat in my car even after I had arrived at work and parked, just to finish listening to the Dapper Dans? I hope not...cuz I did!!

I LOVED when they were asking all of the kids "what has been their favourite ride so far?"

The answers were Test Track, Rock n Roller Coaster, Kali River Rapids and Tower of Terror.

Then Marilyn says "interesting that all of their favourites are the ones that Roger was too chicken to go on". :lmao:

Yes that was funny! and then they interviewed the mayor of Main St. :)

My six year old was the one that answered "Kali River Rapids". He later said that he loved going to Lego Land which is at Downtown Disney. I was one of the winners with CHUM FM and it was a real dream come true :cloud9: . We got back on Saturday morning and today was my first day back at work. Being at the Magic Kingdom on Thursday and Friday morning at 7:00 am watching the broadcast was absolutely amazing. Roger and Marilyn were there but Rick wasn't. He was sick. It was so cool. Words cannot describe everything that we got to do and see. We arrived at the Magic Kingdom through a "backstage" entrance where we had to show security ID passes that had CHUM 104.5 on it. Marilyn and Roger and everyone at Chum FM are really great people. I was kinda shy to meet them at first but after our first meeting they are so down to earth and funny. We enjoyed watching the broadcast. I must admit it was fun to hear what the weather/temperature was like in Toronto and also the traffic report when I wasn't actually stuck on the road driving into work.:drive:

As soon as I figure out how to upload some pictures I will add some of the morning show pictures that we took. I have some of the ESPN and MK that I will share as soon as I can.

Also Michael Bolton was performing right in front of the castle and 4 of the American Idols also sang (Ace, Paris, Kevin and Mandeesa)...sorry if the name is spelled wrong. We also heard that Beyonce was staying at our hotel but we never actually got to see her though.

This truly was a Dream Come True especially it happened in the Year of a Million Dreams. Actually both of my boys got to sign Mickey's autograph book at Epcot. A cast member there asked them if they would like to sign Mickey's book because Mickey would also like autographs. They both signed there names and received a Year of A Million Dreams Certificate that I will be framing and putting them up in their room.

As soon as I get the pictures I will share more.

About the Mayor as he signed my kids autograph books he told them a joke. What do you call a boomerang that doesn't come back?...........A stick. This made us all crack up.

He also spoke about our elections here...as we vote once but the ballots get counted over an over. How true as this just happened in Vaughan and Roger did mention that.

Congratulations Pal Mickey!!!! That's fantastic. Love to see the pics. Which hotel did you stay in? Did you have a choice or did all the winners stay at the same one?

Glad to hear you had a great time.

We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn. Roger and Marilyn broadcasted live from the ESPN club located on the Boardwalk on Wednesday. That day we only left our hotel room around 6:45am to meet up with them. The Thursday and Friday when they broadcasted at MK we had to leave the hotel much earlier to meet them at Magic Kingdom. The Boardwalk was great! We took our first trip to WDW last year but stayed at the Nickelodean Family Suites (offsite) because my boys really like Spongebob and they saw the hotel's water park and pool area in a travel brochure. Although that was a great hotel we would definately stay on Disney property in the future. All the added benefits like staying at the park for extra magic evening hours and disney transportation.. etc.... The Boardwalk Inn is absolutely beautiful and the boat rides to and from MGM and Epcot was convenient and fun. We also walked back from MGM twice. I doubt I could afford this hotel next time unless we become DVC members one day ??? From our hotel room we could watch the fireworks from Epcot and we had a view of the Epcot spaceship earth and also the eiffel tower of France.

Also the Luna pool at the Boardwalk has a circus theme. :joker: :clown: It's pretty amazing.

Hi Lisaviolet,

I just noticed you're a DVC member. Tell me about it ? Any regrets ? I was talking to a DVC cast member while we were waiting for our table for our dinner reservations and he told us to go and check out the property and get more information but when I called down to make a reservation for the DVC open house they told me it could take 60 - 90 minutes of our time and I felt I didn't want to take that away from the kids but I also feel bad for not attending. As a Canadian do you feel you made a good decision ?

I would love to hear your feedback. Thanks,.........:thanks:

WOW!

So glad a DIS member worn!

As for DVC, first question you have to ask yourself.................Will we be travelling to WDW at least once every two years! Next, which property do you want as your HOME, to take advantage of the 11 month window. Then what will be your travel habits, this will determine a use year that is good for you.

Best thing I've invested in! :thumbsup2

So why didn't you say HI to us? ;)

Hi palmickey2005, thanks so much for the trip report. Congratulations on winning the chumfm trip - I called many, many, many times to no avail http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c54/Casshew2/anger-annoy-sarcism/brood.gif

I'd love to see photos if you have a chance to put a few up. You should realy do a trip report on the TR board :)

How did your spending money hold out - they gave you 500.00, right?

How were the flights?

I heard your son on the radio, he did a great job. :goodvibes

Hello everyone,

I started listening to CHUM FM daily :music: from last year (2005) right after returning from our first trip to WDW...actually our first real trip anywhere and the CHUM FM Jet contest to WDW for the 50th anniversary celebration was on. CHUM FM was going to broadcast live from the Magic Kingdom for the celebration.

Well after falling in love with everything Disney I also fell for CHUM FM....and the Disboards too. So the very first weekend that the jet flew for the WDW contest in 2005 my mom was one of the qualifiers but when they selected the winner the next morning her name was not chosen and that was really hard on me :( as I had set my hopes up never really realizing how many qualifiers are taken daily. I figured it's so hard to get through that once she did qualify I thought well we're close but nope...not so.

This time around anytime I heard :listen: the CHUM FM jet I tried and tried calling only to hear busy signals or the DJ saying they got their qualifiers already but somehow that one night I got through (my husband on my cell phone while I was using the kitchen phone) Well I was excited but because of what happened last year I didn't get my hopes up this time. I actually set myself up for dissapointment as I figured what are the odds???

The next morning at about 7:45 am I'm listening to CHUM FM while driving to work and my cell phone rings. The person asks if it's me and asks if I can stay on hold...well I said yes and when I was put on hold the song playing through the phone was the same one playing on the radio...suddenly butterflies in my stomach...God only knows how I changed two lanes that day to end up pulling over on a smaller road just as I tried to process everything that's going on....and then comes on Roger, Marilyn and Meg to let me know that I had won.

Right after talking with them live on the Radio I was speachless, shocked that I had won I didn't even know how to feel because I was happy and then tears were coming down my face and then I was nervous because I didn't know how to approach my supervisor to request the time needed as we were really busy at work...I was even feeling strange about driving the rest of the way because I knew this was a MAJOR distraction but a very HAPPY one!

Well I think I will probably try a Trip Report once I do have the pictures.

Now to answer your question Scratch 42 about why I had not said "hi" . Do you mean during the radio broadcast or on the Disboards ?

During the broadcasts: I didn't want to get anywhere close to that microphone so talking on the radio was not going to happen but my two boys were brave along with the other kids.

On the Disboards: I remember a post talking about the CHUM FM contest but once I ended up winning I didn't know what to do or say. This was all a shock to me and it took receiving an email with flight and hotel and itinerary information to actually absorb and believe it all.

As far as DVC I think my husband and I need to look at it more before deciding anything.

Well have a good night everyone!

Pictures to come hopefully within the next few days.

On The Radio!

I know how you felt the first time! I qualified for that and the person who qualifed at the same time I did, won the next morning!

I really did not try this time since I had only just got back and did not think that I would get the time off!LOL

Can't wait for your pictures!

I got goosebumps reading that! You must have been so excited and I guess the kis were thrilled too.

I take it your work was okay with you going?

The morning that I won, I was on my way to work....so when I got there the whole day for me was just a daze. A few times I got teary eyed and I knew I wasn't working like I normally do. I couldn't wait to get home and just hug my boys and my husband and mom and just be excited. That's why I waited until the next morning to tell my supervisor because I wanted to celebrate and be happy with my family first.

So the next morning I told my supervisor and she wasn't thrilled. All my co-workers :grouphug: were literally jumping up and down for me but not my supervisor. One person said to me that they knew I wasn't myself the day before and they wondered what was going on. I can't tell you the number of radios in the office that suddenly switched from their regular stations over to CHUM that week. No joke. I remember picking up something from the other side of the room and I hear the "CHUM FM...TORONTO" song that the station plays in between songs. I couldn't help but smile at the person listening at that desk.

Well my supervisor told me she would have to ask the Team Leader first. But as she tells me this not one happy word or any sign of happiness for me. I could sense really bad vibes from her. Luckily when she approached the Team Leader the Team Leader had actually heard the whole thing on the radio the morning before and was wanting to come over and ask me but had not been able to as she was in meetings all day.

I got the ok and then I went over to Thank the Team Leader. I also told her that I knew it was a busy time at work but I also didn't want to give up this chance. She said " No I would never expect you to".

As far as my supervisor not one word. Someone at work told me that she's most likely jealous. I replied "jealous???....She travels every year". Why can't some people just be happy for others ? Like that nothing good will ever come their way.

And this is so true because one of my coworkers that got tears in her eyes and gave me a big hug when she found out that I had won...actually got lucky the next week with CHFI. She won two tickets to see IL DIVO on April 9th at the Air Canada Centre. So I was so happy for her :woohoo:

Talk to you all soon.

Yes, your supervisor was green with envy and really had her nose out of joint. I love how your team leader had heard it all on the radio and already knew!!

I'm glad all your coworkers were happy for you, it was a grat prize to win. How was the flight down, transfers, check in, was it all organizd very well? Were any meals included? Did your 500.00 hold out? :rotfl:

The flight was great. We flew with Westjet, our first time flying with them. Leather seats, tv's for each passenger with 24 channels from Bell ExpressVu which everyone can watch their own channel. :happytv: We flew out on Saturday night. My 6 year old was watching Treehouse TV, both my 10 year old and I watched MuchMusic and my husband watch the Leafs game. That I must say was great. If you didn't want to watch TV you can watch the live map showing the location and altitude of the plane. They also gave us complimentary snacks and non-alcholic drinks but it's $5 for a sandwhich.

The flight crew were great. We all laughed when the flight attendant was announcing that there is to be no smoking on board. "Anyone smoking would be asked to leave the aircraft immedietely"....we all burst out laughing because we had already taken off.

When we landed the flight attendant announced that we had arrived at Orlando early because of the "hard work from the lovely flight attentants".
Also they congratulated all the smokers that decided they would stay on board with us and then they congratulated the 40 ChumFM winnners that were also on board and we all clapped. That was a nice moment for all of us. :jumping1:

We picked up our luggage and noticed someone holding a sign that said "CHUMFM WINNERS". She gave us directions to the bus where we met up with a Disney rep. from Toronto.

It was a Mears bus reserved us. My mom had to take Disney's Magical Express as she was staying at the Pop Century so we communicated by cell phone while we were on our bus and she was on hers. She told us she was watching "Cars". I told my 6 year old and he wanted to be on her bus. Everything was really organized though no complaints at all.

Check in was a breeze. Well actually there was a tiny error at first. They gave some of us a room with only 1 bed. So a few of us had to go back to front desk and ask. They told us there was a mix up because whoever made the reservations booked the rooms for 1 person only. They quickly made changes and assigned us to another room with 2 beds. We even had someone bring the luggage up to our rooms. We've never really done that before so my husband was loading up one of the luggage carrying carts and an employee quickly came over to assist.

Near the front desk was Santa's Workshop made out of sweet smelling gingerbread. There was also a train going around it. Everytime we walked into the hotel we can smell the gingerbread scent. Just amazing.

For the three broadcast mornings they provided us with a lovely hot breakfast buffet with eggs, bacon, fruit, pastries, coffee and juice. So that was great. For the $500.00 it lasted us until Wednesday afternoon. We had 1 character lunch at Garden Grill. A buffet dinner at Cape May Cafe and also had dinner at Sci-fi theatre at MGM. Everything else was counter service meals. We ate 2 times a day and that was plenty. One time we had breakfast at the Pop Century hotel because we went to check out where my mom was staying. Another time we had chocolate croissants for breakfast from the Boardalk Bakery as we waited for the friendship boat to arrive and take us to Epcot. One night we all had Mickey Bars :mickeybar and all shared one (churro) pastry just to try it. Because we were actually 5 people when it came to spending the money it lasted us until Wednesday afternoon as I was paying for the Dole whip pineapple ice cream treats for all of us. First time we tried this. Yummy we all agreed. So really not too bad.

This was a great prize yes I still can't believe we actually won but it was totally a dream come true.

Almost forgot that when all the families were asked to attend a welcome meeting at the conference room to meet everyone from Chumfm they treated us to ice cream.

Unfortunately no pics yet. I went to Walmart to get a photo cd done but the Kodak picture maker wasn't working well for CD's or enlargements. I only had a few pictures printed so that I can bring in to work this morning just so I could show them a few for now. One picture I couldn't even correct the red-eye because of the problem the machine was having. But as soon as I get the CD I will post. :thumbsup2

Have a great night everyone. :wave2:

That was a great report,

West Jet is so much fun - they say things like "There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there's only 6 ways off this plane" :rotfl:

Sounds like they were really organized and everything went well, silly that your room only had one bed

I didn't think the 500 would hold out too long, its expensive there and everything add up quickly.

Marilyn Dennis is so nice, we met her last year at the Chum FM Christmas Wish party in Toronto, she called my DD up on the stage and asked her about her Stitch Christmas hat :)

Well I'd love to see pics if you get a chance to put some up, thanks for taking the time to answer all my questions :goodvibes

Sounds like you had a blast!

One question - Did the TV's work on the way back to Toronto? I can't convince DD to fly WestJet again 'cause of the fact that the one and only time we flew the TV's did not work!

Yes, all the winners and CHUM FM people stayed at the Boardwalk Inn. Our trip last year to WDW was our first ever WDW trip and we stayed offsite. Although we enjoyed the Nickelodean Family Suites we feel we will most likely stay only onsite for any future trips. The extra benefits of Disney Transportation, Extra Magic Hours and also I loved being able to use our key to the world card for any purchases...so convenient.

At the time we went last year "kids ate free" at the Nickelodean but you had to be at the hotel so if your in a park that doesn't really help there.

Pictures to come....I promise.::yes::

I just noticed today that the CHUM FM website gallery has 3 pictures from the broadcast at Disney World. The first picture was taken at the MK with the Dapper Dans Quartet and the other two were taken at the ESPN club on the boardwalk when Roger and Marilyn broadcasted on the morning of Wed. This picture was taken when CHUM FM broadcasted live at Magic Kingdom. We arrived at MK that morning at 7 am (2 hours before the park opened). It was so amazing to see the park so early and to watch and listen to some of the preparation and sound checks. Marilyn had told the kids before they were live on air for them to think about their favourite rides.

My 6 year old asked me..."Mommy what's the name of that one where we all got really wet yesterday ?"

His answer to Marilyn was "Kali River Ripids". :woohoo:

I have a few more pictures to post.
