Fastpasses when staying onsite?

Hi ... I read that if you stay onsite you get 3 free fastpasses. Is this true for any onsite hotel, or just the Disneyland Hotel or New York hotel? If this is true, is it 3 fastpasses per guest, per night, 3 fastpasses per guest for entire stay, or for just 3 fastpasses? Also, can you use these passes whenever you want? For example, can you enter a park in the morning and grab a fastpass for one ride and while you are waiting use one of your free ones? :confused3

This will be my first (and most likely only visit :sad2: ) so I appreciate all the help I've gotten on this board! Your help and guidance is appreciated. Your answers will help me decide where to stay. Thanks.

Hi, it is only the Disneyland hotel where you get the 3 fastpasses however they do have conditions.,
you can only use one fastpass a day per person, they have dates printed on them so if you don't use it on that day you can not use it at all.
you also can only use them after 2pm so you would probably get on the ride quicker if you got your own fastpass from the machine in the morning.
