OK, so we finally picked a digital camera, now I don't know how to decide on the memory card. The camera says to use SD, and I figure we want at least 1-2 GB, but what are the differences between brands? Are any better than others - which ones? Other features? Where do you find them cheapest?
Thanks!

I would recommend buying two 1GB cards rather than a single 2GB. If you're on vacation for example and something unexpected happens to your only memory card you're not going to be happy. I usually buy SanDisk but Best Buy is still running their black friday deal on the PNY 1GB for $14.99 with free shipping (I'm assuming you can get it in the store at this price also). I ordered one of these on Thanksgiving and I have another PNY memory card and I've had no problems with it. Here's the link...

There are speed differences between cards but most cameras can't take advantage of them anyway. If you don't shoot rapid-fire it won't be a concern.
There are not many manufacturers of memory cards, but a lot of labels. Some good information on cards is at rob galbraith's website.
I agree about not putting all your eggs in one basket, and try to get cards that hold maybe 100-200 images each. For me that's about a half day's shooting, so if a card goes bad I will at least have something from the day.
