What are your camera presets?

I just did my first experiment with RAW. The difference is AMAZING. The ones straight from the camera look lifeless and dull compaired to the ones I processed using RAW.

I for alot of the images I used the basic Canon software and one of their presets. The same presets that you can use in camera.

It also looks like everything is coming out a bit underexposed. Do you change your exposure compensation?

I'd post the differences however they are from my DS's school program and there are lots of children and I am not comfortable posting photos of other's kids online.

i am guessing you are talking about the parameters? i set one to slightly over sharpen but that is it and i have been setting my exposure for outdoor bright light as one line underexposed which has seemed to help me not blow out highlights so much. i only tried raw in a couple test shots but am thinking of doing in a project i am going to start on for my husband where coloration esp. is critical. i think photoshop ele. has raw stuff so i'll probably use that to fix them up

I've experimented with my presets but then I always fix them back to the original factory settings.

As far as converting from RAW, I use my Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 for that. I rarely use the Canon software unless I want to see if I focused on my subject correctly.

I shot raw in aperture mode. Set ap for the DOF I need then I shoot and continuosly check the histogram for exposure and adjust as needed. At WDW during the day I almost always had negative exposure, 1/3 or 2/3.

the XT has a feature that makes anythign overexposed blink in the review screen. But the histo gives more information.
