I am coming to London in Jan. (also going to Stafford) and am looking at visitors tube passes. I was told that it is the same price to buy them the first day we get there as it is to buy them before them. We will be there from Jan. 15th and leave for Tel Aviv on the 20th. We thought of getting a 7 day pass because it was cheaper than a 3 day pass. As well were only going to get a zone 1-2 and adding up to 4 on the Friday when we are going a little farther. The thing is we are going to be doing the Original Tour bus on the Thurs. so not sure how much it would be used that day. Can anyone help. If I could find out how much the tube passes are at the point of sale then I could figure out if it is going to be cheaper to buy on line.

I thought that the visitor travel cards could only be purchased outside of the UK so if you can get them cheaper than the prices Jan's quoted I would buy at home.

I am sorry this has taken so long to reply to. Life has been crazy. I have looked at the prices (the web site is hard to navigate) and they seem the same at the station as they are to buy on the internet. It really is hard to decide which pass to buy as we are unsure exactly how much we are going to be on the tube. My tickets for the Original Bus Tour arrived today as well as the tickets for the Tower of London. Also, my brit rail passes will be arriving in about a week. I am so excited and am trying very hard to get everything ready. The last thing I have to book is a hotel room for when we get back from Israel. We will have to stay 2 nights at a hotel near Gatwick airport. Oh, the other thing I have to book is transportation from our hotel near the Paddington station to Heathrow, and transportation from Heathrow airport to the Gatwick hotel. There is going to be 4 of us for the first one but only 2 for the second transfer.

For the Gatwick hotel try Holiday Extras (http://www.holidayextras.co.uk/airport-hotels/airport-hotels.html) For transport between Paddington and Heathrow you could try this Heathrow Express (http://www.heathrowexpress.com/index.asp?SID={4FD65F69-273D-4287-8B6D-6B09AA18D2BB}) For your journey between Heathrow and Gatwick you could try this National Express (http://www.nationalexpress.com/bp/b2.cfm?id=72488216&onew=1&rnew=1)
You said you had your tickets for the Tower of London have you applied for tickets to view the Ceremony of the Keys (http://www.hrp.org.uk/webcode/content.asp?ID=704) I would highly recommend it.
