Wow. Talk about an upgrade? We are booked for ASMO. I would be totally shocked to be upgraded to the Polynesian. I was kind of hoping just to get prefered since we only booked standard this time. :rotfl:

I had a ressie for a Garden View at the Polynesian 11/3-11/8. When I arrived at 11 am to check in I was informed by the CM that I had been upgraded to a concierge room. It was a wonderful "dream come true".

Now upgraded to Concierge would be my dream! I have wanted to stay there but cannot justify the cost vs value! This post is from a person who was upgraded at WL.

When I check In Sunday at WL if I was upgraded to Concierge I think I would faint right there from pure utter shock. That would be so awlsome. But it is only a dream as I never win anything much and I'm not going to expect anything just to enjoy the happiest place on earth to my best .

I had never been to Disney untill 2004.My wife had been to Disney in the past and wanted to share with me what Disney has to offer.I just fell in love with Disney. Then we decided to take my two daughters down in June of 2005 so we could share the experence with them.It is priceless the memories we have of my two daughters at Disney. So in January of 2006 I took my wife to Wilderness Lodge for a week.A week at Wilderness Lodge was her Disney dream. When we got there our reservations were messed up.So Disney moved us to a room on the third floor over looking the castle at the Magic Kingdom. So nights we could go out on the balcony and watch the fireworks and listen to the music. She felt like a princess and it made our vacation that much more special for her.Now we are getting ready to go back the day after Thanksgiving for a week to see Disney at Christmas time. :hourglass :santa:

DH & I stayed at Poly 11/4-11/8, we booked a standard garden view room and was upgraded to the Honeymoon Suite. That was a pretty awesome wish, I actually welled up with tears and told the CM I loved her!

MY DH found this thread and brought it to my attention. We moved from OKW to the BC last week for our last two nights. We were booked in a standard room - but were upgraded to the Concierge floor.

But we didn't know it until we got up on the floor. No one said anything about it being a "wishes" dream fulfillment, however....so I'm not sure.

I have to admit, when we first opened the door to the room we were a little dismayed because it didn't have the extra day bed we were expecting, but they brought us a cot. And I told my DH and my DD15 that we'd be crazy to move because it wasn't something we could afford to do on our own. So we decided to stay up there, shut up about the size of the room and enjoy the nice treat.

But I don't know if this was because the BC was full or if it was part of the "Year of A Million Dreams" campaign.

Actually, a friend of mine went about a month or so ago, got to AS resort to check in, was told they'd been upgraded, and were driven to the Poly where they stayed for the same price and were greated by Lilo and Stitch. :)

A friend who reads here so she might chime in - just let me know that last week her pastor and his family went to OKW on friend's points and then were spending the last two nights at POR -- when they got to POR they were told they had been upgraded to GF! It was late at night and they were tired - suspected it was an overbooking issue but new it was a good deal and so they went with it!

We just got back from WDW - met a couple from Nova Scotia at Illuminations, celebrating their 15th anniversary. When they checked in at the Poly, they found out they had been upgraded to concierge!
My DH and I stayed at POR - 15th Anniversary for us, too - I don't think we were upgraded, but it was really nice, all the same!

I got a free upgrade to preferred at ASMo the beginning of November. It was a first floor room in Toy Story-Buzz Lightyear side, and only a couple minutes walk from the buses! I was spoiled after that--usually we get the cheapest standard rooms WAAAY in the back! If I got an upgrade to Poly I wouldn't know what to do! :rotfl:

We were at WDW in October, and had reserved a standard view room based on what we could afford (and were willing to pay!)
Upon check-in we were told we had been upgraded to a Savannah View room at no additional cost. Don't know if this was YOAMD or dumb luck, but we'll take it either way. My 3 yr old DS LOVED seeing the animals in "his backyard" every morning.

Just got back from a stay at POR. We requested (and paid for) a standard room. The room we were in faced a beautiful courtyard with a water feature - with a little bridge walkway, etc. The water wove around and was really pretty. Was this considered a water view room, and therefore an upgrade? Just wondering! :)

Before the YOAMD my DBF and I stayed at the CR (6/11/06) and we had just booked a south garden room. When we checked in I thought we were in the wrong room cause we had been checked into a suite. The room and our stay were both fabulous. :wizard: :wizard:

We had booked 2 Magic Kingdom view tower CR rooms Nov 28 thru Dec 2. We were lucky enough to get upgraded to 12th floor concierge. Before the trip my DH kept asking what were we going to do if the rooms weren't connecting. (since it's only a request) He had me worried we would have problems at check in. Then the pixie dust fell on us! It really made our trip extra magical.

I dont' know if its related to the YOAMD but we just got back from a trip and we stayed in the All Star Movies for a night and they upgraded us to a "preferred room" and then the biggest shock of em all...we stayed the rest of the time at the Polynesian (dec9-15th). I booked and paid for a garden view room but got upgraded to concierge Magic Kingdom View!!!!!!!! :faint:

We were at YC the beginning of December - we already had a standard view concierge room booked but on check-in they told us we were having a water view room ... and what an amazing room it was .... it was one of the 6(?) rooms directly over the rear entrance of the YC, with a totally unobstructed view of the Boardwalk, and we could also see Illuminations from our room. It was wonderful :)

I had a reservation last month at the Contemporary for a Garden room, and got upgraded to a suite on the seventh floor with a balcony and view of MK. Everynight I a perfect view of the fireworks. I was there for a conference and by myself and I told the lady at the front desk that I appreciated it, but I would rather a family get the suite. She smiled and said they would, but so would I!

This has nothing to do with YOAMD, but on our Honeymoon in 2000, my Husband and I were staying at the Contemporary as part of our Land and Sea Cruise package. When we got there, they told us that we were upgraded from the garden rooms to the Tower and they mentioned that we had Concierge access. They even called when we got there to make sure that we had everything that we needed as far as reservations and such went.

Of course, I hadn't found this board yet so I didn't have a CLUE what the Concierge Level meant and we didn't use the room or them at all. *laugh*

We were upgraded from standard to savannah at AKL last Nov/Dec.

We also got the year of a million dreams mouse ears at MGM one morning at Walt's One Man's Dream.

That was it for us and we never saw any one else get anything in the 8 days we were there.

I don't think it had anything to do with YOMD. But, when we went in Feb to OKW we had booked a standard type room and received an upgrade to a 1 bedroom villa!! We were totally shocked and totally spoiled. Next time we go we are going to try to swing the extra cost for the 1 bedroom again. It was so nice to spread out that much and have a full kitchen, laundry room w/washer & dryer, jacuzzi tub, separate shower, and a back porch!.:thumbsup2

We just got back on Monday from an ultimate upgrade! We had booked the Pop to save $ and were happy with that. A few months ago, we received an email with a big picture of Tink on it that said, "Surprise!" and that we were being upgraded to the SSR or OKW!!! :cool1: I called the phone # on the email and chose OKW. (We're in the Cleveland area, so we wanted a tropical change of pace!) It took the work of several managers to override the sysytem , but we would up in a 1 bedroom villa for the week!!! When I got over my initial shock and called back to request nonsmoking, the CM congratulated me on my YOAMD prize and read off what it said in the system about our YOAMD prize.

Old Key West was absolutely beautiful, and our huge villa looked out past palm trees and onto the water. It couldn't have been more beautiful! ( I would love to thank someone for our upgrade, but I have no idea who to thank!)

We also won a few small prizes in the parks. At MK, DD found a paint brush and was given the normal family fastpass to Thunder Mountain or Splash, then the CM talked to her a bit and gave her a YOAMD FP good for the family for any ride. (It did say YOAMD on it.) Later that day, a cm at an icecream cart asked DD and I who our favorite characters are. (Pluto and Jimminy Cricket!;) ) He then said that the treats were on Disney for YOAMD. :cool1:
Our last dream happened at Epcot in the Flower show building. DD and I were admiring some garden artwork when a CM came over and gave her the twin Tink pin set. The funny thing is that he said to keep them both!:rotfl:

We'll never forget this trip or all of the magic we received!

First of all, let me say Congratulations! to all who were upgraded.

We've been to WDW 6x, and not once received a free upgrade. Sadness. Is it just the luck of the draw? Being in the right place at the right time?

Whatever it is, I'm happy it happened to DisBoarders!!

Funny I posted this. Cause we did get an upgrade to prefered. I think the CM behind the desk felt sorry for me. I was standing there with tears in my eyes over the flight and all that had happened that day. Long sad story... don't want to talk about it. :sad2:

We were upgraded at CSR in late January. We had booked a nonsmoking king room thru AAA and we arrived around 7:30 in the evening. They were sold out and offered us either a king smoking or a double water view for the night at half price. I told the castmember I had taken the last of my antibiotic for a sinus infection that morning, she went to talk to the manger- she came back and I asked here where they would move us to in the morning- off she went to talk to the manager again- came back and we were upgraded to a suite for the week. ( double beds but who can complain?) it sure was nice having two bathrooms and dressing areas. And CSR was beautiful

We are going to POP in June...we love it there, but it would also be a lot of fun to be upgraded to a deluxe...if only for the 12 yr old we are bringing to WDW for the first time! My DS & I have been (to all levels of resorts, and LOVE them ALL!), but it would be really fun to show Ethan what the delux resorts are like! A girl can dream right!?:confused3 ;) :goodvibes

I have a friend who just came back yesterday and she told me that they had booked at the ASMu but when they went to check-in, they were upgraded to CSR!! She didn't know the difference but luckily her father did. they took it and loved evrey minute of it. They were told it wasn't a dream thing, the hotel was over-booked for some cheerleader thing.

i told her how lucky she was. She said she loved the resort.

Also, funny thing happened is they ran into one of her son's old teachers down there. he swore he saw teacher riding the bus from the resort wiht her DD. Mom didn't believe but that night she asked to be connected with "said teachers" room and she left a message. It was the teacher!! To go from our tiny town in NH to see a teacher down there.

Last summer we were at the airport in Philadelphia on our way to Disney and my daughter's teacher and guidance counselor (who are married) saw her and said "where are you going?" She told them Disney. That's where they were going also. Their seats were right behind ours on the plane.
This year at school, DD told that same teacher we're going back. Turns out they are also and we're staying at the same resort, the same week!
Too funny!:rotfl:

We booked a Standard at WL b/c that's all we can afford but I would love to be able to get a king bed. Don't care about the view, I'd just like a king instead of two queens. However, I'll just be happy to actually stay at a Deluxe for the first time in almost 30 years.

Last summer we had a split stay...first half of stay WL..second half CR. Had a std room booked at WL and were upgraded to courtyard view (overlooking pool and lake). We will always book courtyard at WL from now on. The best was checkin at CR. I had wing/waterview reserved. We were upgraded to concierge with lake view. We felt a special blessing/pixie dust! We go every year and out of the past 4 years we had 3 deaths in the family. Either while we were there or just leaving for the airport. There was never a reason for upgrades. WL upgrade came at check in, but CR was done before we got there.
