I saw this question on another thread and thought it would make a great poll. So, just who does use the Annual Pass discount?

With the DVC discount, we switched from PH tickets to annual pass. We plan on getting one every other year and doing two trips per pass. :thumbsup2
Without a doubt, getting the AP pass gets us spending more time in the parks than previously...and subsequently spending more money there instead of off-site. So for us, it is working the way that Disney wants it to! :)

We got AP's in June '05. We got 4 trips and 32 days out of them. We'll probably get them again some time in '08 and do a couple trips that year. With the discount I think we saved over $1500. Gotta love DVC discounts

Doing APs every other year was a great bargain before, and now with the DVC discount, it's an even better bargain! We still travel to WDW every year, it's just that in our "on" year, we make several trips, and in our "off" year, we only make one that comes in under the previous AP. It makes sense for those of us who live a significant distance from WDW.

When you add the savings from the purchase of the DDE card and the luxury of choosing a park for dinner without worrying about using a day on your pass.....makes it an easy decision if you can manage 2 - 3 trips in one annual pass year. We don't buy every year but like to alternate.

I get one about every 18 months. I usually go spring and fall, so I schedule my trip the next year right before it expires. Then buy a new one on the next trip, about 18 months.

That is exactly what we do too. Love the freedom of the AP Thanks to the DVC discount. Just wish they didn't raise the price 2 X a year this year. :goodvibes
Before our move we visited at least four times a year. Since our move to Orlando it makes even more sense.

We've been buying annual passes for the last ten years since we go to Disney
3 or 4 times a year. The $100 discount for each of us is a great perk. Also the merchandise discounts add up. Also enables us to purchase the DDE card for
another 20% savings.

We pretty much have always bought APs since we tend to visit WDW frequently. I'm not one to sneer at perks so we used the discount on our last AP and will be using it on our next renewal.
We purchase seasonal passes every year. ...Just got out's this past weekend! :jumping1:

This is our 1st year as DVC memebers and couldn't find a reason not to buy the APs with the discount. Can't wait to use them :cool1:

We get one every year. It hurts at the time, (we have to buy for 5 adults) . We take lots of last minute trips and it always feels good to have them handy. Also love the DDE card and 20% discount!

Voted , no never, even though that is a strong choice. No would have ben fine but the never part made me pause.
Now we do the MYW 10 day park hoppers with no expiration. That gets us 10 park days and 5 plus features like water parks.
We don't do the parks a lot. Maybe 1-2 per trip so this pass lasts us 2-3 years, a much better value for us, NOW.
That may change as DS ages.

Every 18-24 months works perfect for us...at least for now. We usually get about four to six trips out of each AP, plus the benefits. It really adds up to a lot of savings.

We're in the every-other-year crowd. We just activated our passes and took in the last week of the F&W festival. We've got another trip in 3 weeks (I have a conference in Orlando, darn!), then back in May for DH's 50th birthday, and then we'll finish up with the second-to-the last week of the 2007 F&W. Then...it's a year off, and then we start again.
We've never purchased annual passes but intend to purchase premium annual passes taking advantage of the DVC discount as soon as we start our extended stays at OKW in either the winter of 07-08 or possibly the winter of 08-09. Until then we'll continue to use our non expiring park hopper passes that have worked very well for us based on our pattern of use.

make sure you at least get 2 vacations(10+ days) out of them. Then you've saved money.

My wife & I have been doing this for the last six years/3 passes. DVC discount on the passes, and Disney Dining Card food discounts, it's almost cheaper to stay at Disney than stay at home!

I make at least 2 trips to Florida a year, because I have family there. We always spend at least one day at WDW and like to park-hop. It's far more convenient to have the pass.

We buy an AP about every 18 months, like some others. We get three trips out of each, usually 17-20 days each.
However, I've been looking at our visitation pattern, and we're going to buy Florida Seasonal Passes next time. We'll save about $100 on each pass that way. DD4's AP expires soon, so we'll buy her a new seasonal pass + seasonals for the two of us next April/May.
I might get them pretty soon to avoid price increases...which I guess happen every December...right?

We did get the annual pass -- with the DVC discount !
I believe it will make us visit WDW a least twice a year, instead of once a year.
We also purchased the DDE - keeps you on property
The discounts are great !

What is the DDE card?
Disney Dining Experience. It's $50 or $60 and it gets you discounts to almost every restaurant in WDW. Don't quote me on this, but I believe it's only available to AP holders

We had APS at the Magic Kingdom Club discount for the 25th anniversary in 1996, and again with the Disney Club discount in 2001. We just purchased AP vouchers to activate on our upcoming trip, mainly so we could get the DDE card but also figuring that it will "make" us get to WDW again in less than a year; it's been 18 months and we're jonesing for a Disney fix! :teeth:

DDE is for AP holders and Florida residents only; it is $85 for FL residents, but AP holders get it for $60.20% off on most table service and a few counter service places, and that includes beverages, even alcoholic ones. It's gonna save us a BUNDLE on our trip!

What is the Magic Kingdom Club?
Magic Kingdom Club was a perk that was offered thru many businesses for their employees. For a small fee, you got discounted hotels, tickets, packages, etc. After several years, they opened it up to everyone who wanted to pay for it (raising the fee also), and changed the name to The Disney Club. They also started giving more discounts on other things like merchandise, Disney theater tickets, etc. When Disney came out with their Visa card, they phased out the Disney Club, folding a few of the benefits into the Visa plan.

For us it doesn't make sense. We go every year, but because our trip is tied to a school break, we can't get 2 trips out of one pass. And each trip we only spend 3-4 days in the parks. So the 10 day MYW passes are the best bet for us right now.

Once your vacations aren't tied to school breaks AP's will make sense. But for now you have to do what's right for you. We're not locked into vacationing at certain times a year so the AP's are great for us

We have been PAP holders for many years. The savings with DDE alone cover about 3/4 the price of the PAPs, let alone the pre DVC hotel savings. We still periodically get a hotel using an AP rate.
In short, the AP is a good deal for us even if we never enter a park.
The fact that we have been visiting 3 or 4 times a year is just gravy! :smokin:
