View Full Version : Restaurants to avoid?

We leave Friday with about 20 kids from our youth group. We will only have 2 and a half days in the parks and everyone is on a shoestring budget (we kind of planned this trip last minute). So we will all do the meal deal. There are only a few CS on the plan. What recommendations do you have? Are there any that you would avoid?
Mel's Diner doesn't get very good reviews but mostly everything else does.

I agree - though it's a couple of years since we tried Mel's diner.

They ought to let a major chain come in and run Mels, like McDonalds or BK. Steak and Shake would also be an idea if they wanted to have waiters serving customers.
The other restaurants serve mostly the same thing. It's Ribs & Chicken, food to feed the masses. Sounds good, they have banners everywhere promoting it. But when you sit down to eat, it's mainly cafeteria style food. Little kids probably won't care, but adults will know the differance. That's why many go to the more upscale restaurants like Mythos.

Mel's Diner and Monster Cafe. The only 2 places I refuse to return to

If you turn the clock back about five years, the food at Monster's Cafe was actually quite good. I really don't know what happened over there but I won't eat at MC any more either. It really went downhill.

I LOVE Monster cafe! been eating there since it first opened, and ate there just a few days ago. but, I do tend to stick with the same thing like the wood fired pepperoni pizza or the spaghetti. its a fun little place with monster memorabilia and movie clips and good music. (feed my Frankenstein) we always eat there while at the Studios. I also love the old classic Universal Monsters. thats probably one reason I keep going back.
I agree about Mels. their chocolate milkshakes are good though.
not crazy about Circusmagurkus.

They all are equal to any CS disney resturaunt, honestly. There is nothing really there that they dont have at disney, all the normal fare. Mels is fine, just as Monster Cafe, my favorites would have to be Richters and Cafe 4. Best burgers....but other than that, they are pretty much all the same.

As far as I can tell Monster cafe is not on the list of Meal Deal restaurants. It's teenagers, so they probably won't care. And I can handle anything for 3 days. We are going to WDW in January and I have reservations at great places, so I can wait. If we weren't with kids, I would love to try Mythos.
