We leave on Tuesday and I am finally trying to put everything in the suitcases. :thumbsup2 Quick question about medications, both OTC and Prescription. Can I put these in my checked luggage so I do not have to carry them on my carryon? I thought I read somewhere that it all has to go into my carryon, which I have a lot (just to be prepared). We won't need it through the airport so hopefully someone knows. :confused3

Thanks a bunch!
Kim

Yes,you can pack it in your luggage. If you have any in your carry on,tell the people at the security checkpoint.

I wouldn't put prescription in your checked luggage....what if it gets lost? OTC, sure...if the luggage gets lost, you go to the near drugstore and buy more.

I couldn't agree more. Please put your prescriptions in your carryon.

I always pack my prescription medication in my carry-on. What a hassle it would be to replace it if my luggage was lost! I have had my luggage lost twice, and you often don't get it for a day or two.

If you're trying to free up space in your carry-on, maybe you could pack your OTC medication in your checked luggage. That would be more easily replaceable than your prescription Rx. But keep your prescriptions in your carry-on!!

I can't think of any circumstances under which I would choose to pack my prescription medications in checked luggage. NEVER.

It would be a hassle to replace if the luggage is significantly delayed. And with more people checking more luggage since the August 2006 changes to carry-on rules, I just saw on the news today that the airlines are setting new records for the number of misdirected and lost checked bags,

PLEASE keep your medications with you at all times. Any other way just doesn't make sense to me. :confused3

I always check my Rx meds. I have never lost my luggage, the airlines have never lost my luggage, and if they did, oh well. I toss a couple of each pills in a little baggy in my carryon just in case so I have something to tide me over.

You're very lucky. My luggage has been delayed three times (once on the way to my wedding). Once it got to me in the middle of the night, the other two times it's been the next day.

You should never ever put your prescription in your checked luggage.!!!!
OTC - you can always buy more if something happens to it.

Put Rx meds in your checked luggage if you want, but keep some out in your hand-luggage in the event of a significant delay in your luggage arrival. If there was a problem I presume you can attend a physician/pharmacy to fill out a Rx. For some people, the amount of Rx meds they have would take up their whole hand-luggage, so you have to be realistic.
