I thought it might be fun to have a thread for planning session dates. That way, if any of us will be there at the same time maybe we can meet for dinner or something :) :) I'll try to do a calendar like in the wedding date thread. If you'll be there more than just the day of your PS, put all your dates so there is more of a chance for us to meet up :thumbsup2

Thanks! We aren't sure yet either, but we know it's going to either be MLK weekend or President's weekend since I'm a teacher and we have to go when I'm off. Since there are AWESOME AP rates in Jan we're trying for then. :goodvibes

Good idea for a thread SRUAlmn :)

We'll be in WDW from Dec 18-21, 2006. Our planning session is on Dec 19. I am so excited to be going down when everything is decorated for the holidays!

You will LOVE it! The two 'family' trips my family has taken have been during Christmas week and there is nothing like it!! It's so beautiful. Have a great time :)

We called to book our room for our PS last night (for Jan) and wanted to use the AP rate. ALL value resorts and all but 1 moderate were SOLD OUT! The CM on the phone was actually really rude and was trying to upsell her heart out. I was very annoyed as the CMs are usually so sweet and helpful. She was asking me a TON of questions and was sort of demeaning of the fact that we were going to activate our APs in Jan when our wedding isn't until July  Anyway, I just wanted people to know that if you're planning on going in Jan or Feb and using any of the discounts currently available, book now!!

I think the reason you are having a hard time finding rooms in Jan and Feb is b/c Disney was offering a 6 day 7 night package for 2 people (including tickets and dining) for about 1300 at any value resort. Double Occupancy.

That's what I figured too, but that package is blacked out the weekend I'll be there because it's a holiday weekend (which may be the real reason it's unavailable.)

My mom suggested we stay away from the holiday weekends. The parks will be extremely crowded and difficult to get rooms. This is also a problem for us as DF is a teacher as well and didn't want to take time off. We're both doing it anyways, and hopefully staying at DVC.

Well, I don't have a planning session, but I will be in the world from March 3-10th. If anyone is around then, I'd love to meet up!

It's hard when you're a teacher because the times you're off are the busy times and there are rarely discounts at those times. I don't know about him, but we get very few personal days and no vacation days, and it's just SO difficult to be out and make sub plans, let the parents know important details, get all the kids prepared, etc... It's usually just easier to be there :rotfl:

i don't really have a "planning session" but me and DF are going down from Dec 13th-17th. i've been trying to get ahold of the wedding people but no one has gotten back to me. i just want to see if maybe one of the days that we're down there, if we can maybe just go and talk to someone to get the ball rolling.

i'd much rather see someone in person, rather than talk over the phone for everything. i know that i will only be able to go down once or twice the year before the wedding(which....would be next year) so i'm hoping that at least this will get things started.

it totally figures that i just missed you guys. my family and my fiance were visiting WDW 11/11-11/14, and even though we're an intimate, we met with our wedding coordinator on 11/13 at franck's. and it was great. and she was great. i am REALLY glad we got a chance to meet with her.

our wedding isn't too far off. it's on january 22, 2007. so maybe some of you will be there then?! we're getting married at sea breeze point at 2:30 p.m. and then are having a reception at california grill in the napa room. will any of you be there then????

best of luck with all your planning!! :grouphug:

I see that every one does tastings
when you have a custom how do they know what foods you want to taste. Can you only select from a certain group or do you fill out a form before hand so they know.

also same for flowers do you gie them a rough idea or do you look at samples.

also with your bouquet do you ever get to see it before your weding??

For the menu tasting your planner sends you a form with the items from your reception location's kitchen that apply to your type of menu and you mark off what you would like to taste.

I am not sure about the floral questions.

Depending on who your Disney Floral Manager is, you show them examples of what you want and they sometimes bring a portfolio of their work to show you photos of similar items.

With Disney Floral, I'm pretty certain that the only way you can actually see a mock-up of any of your floral (centerpieces, bouquet, etc.) is to pay for the mock-up separately. Since the cost associated with these items can be high, not too many people ever have mock-ups made (they'd be the exact same cost as the 'real' wedding day one). I have a friend who was uncertain about her centerpiece containers, so she arranged to see a mock-up on her Planning Session trip. Basically, Disney will let you see whatever you want in advance - for a price. :)

I feel ya! We were engaged in August of 2005, but due to my sister's wedding being in April of 2006, we had to wait until July 2007. It was a LOOOOONG wait! However, I got into this comfortable 'we have lots of time' frame of mind and now it's like 'oh my gosh, we only have 5 more months!'
