FAQ's from the Disneyland Weddings website
Q: Can I have my wedding ceremony and reception in different Disneyland® Resort locations?
A: Yes! One of the best aspects of a wedding at the Disneyland® Resort is that you can custom design your wedding event. Check out the variety of Wedding Locations available for your wedding event. Most wedding ceremonies take place in one of our lushly landscaped Wedding Gardens or Gazebos while receptions can range from your choice of well-appointed Resort ballrooms, or, for the ultimate Disney experience, in the privacy of one of our world famous Theme Parks!
Q: Will the deposit apply to the wedding?
A: Yes, your deposit will act as your commitment to host your wedding at the Disneyland® Resort and enable us to begin planning your events and reserving hotel room accommodations. The deposit will be applied toward your wedding and is non-refundable once it is received. Deposits are required to confirm your wedding event space and special hotel and ticket rates.
Q: Do the preferred vendors (i.e. photographers, videographers, hair and make-up, ministers, etc.) apply to the overall expenditures?
A: Only Disney provided services apply towards your wedding minimum. This includes all food & beverage, wedding cake, floral and décor, Disney favors and entertainment. Any non-Disney provided services from a vendor will not apply toward your minimum. Your Disney Wedding Planner will be happy to clarify this for you during the planning process of your wedding.
Q: Can I bring in my own wedding cake?
A: Wedding cakes and all other Food & Beverage related services must be provided by the Disneyland® Resort. We offer a variety of selections and spectacular designs or our award-winning pastry chefs are happy to create the wedding cake of your dreams based on your photos or imagination. Check out our Wedding Cake Photo Gallery to see just a few of our favorites.
Q: I would love to have my wedding in a Disneyland® Resort Theme Park but do not have the budget. How do you suggest we incorporate the Disney magic into our wedding event?
A: We are pleased to offer many magical opportunities to enhance your celebration. A pre or post-wedding event such as a Fantasmic!* Dessert party, Disney's Electrical Parade* Rehearsal Dinner or even a whimsical Mad Hatter Tea Party Brunch are all excellent ways to add a touch of Disney magic to your special day. Your Disney Wedding Planner will be pleased to share details of these options and many more.
Q: I am considering a wedding date one year from now. What is the planning cycle?
A: Your timing is perfect! Our typical wedding planning cycle is based on a one year plan. Please see our Disney Wedding Timeline for a detailed Wedding Plan. Of course, we are delighted to accommodate you should your wedding schedule require. Any scheduling options should be discussed with your Disney Wedding Planner.

We had the most magical, very nearly perfect fairy tale wedding on a Friday evening.
Note on shoes:
I now realize why it was so difficult to find closed-toe clear vinyl Cinderella pumps. Those suckers are uncomfortable! Now if you are stubborn like me, this vital information will go in one ear and out the other. I was DETERMINED to have clear Cinderella shoes. Might I suggest the open-toe version. My toes were crammed into the front of the shoe because vinyl does not give at all. Loved the shoes, but my poor toes!
Allusions:
I had a pretty good experience with Allusions. My sister and I happened to make an appointment when they were having the Essense trunk show. The Essense rep asked me what I was looking for (strapless, sweetheart bodice, organza ballgown) and proceeded to show me the *perfect* dress! It was from their custom mix and match collection. I have not seen anyone else with it! :thumbsup2 . Alterations were good...I only had 2 fittings, and I picked up my gown on the way to Disneyland for the rehearsal (I had had it steamed). Word of advice to all brides, if your seamstress tells you that your bustle would look better as a sweep train, be firm and say NO (unless of course, that's what you want). I wasn't really concerned with it getting dirty, just people stepping on it. Wouldn't you know that DH stepped on it and pulled out the bustle.
Photography:
If you can work it into your budget, absolutely, 100% go with Doug & Chenin! They are the most amazing, cool, talented photographers. When they shoot your event, it really is like they are your good buddies. We HIGHLY recommend them! They are awesome and the photos are gorgeous…
Videography:
Our main concern with a videographer was that he/she didn’t get in the way of the photographers. When you spend that much money, you want your photos to be the best. On the recommendation of Doug and Chenin, we went with Jack and Carolyn of Radiant Video Productions. We only needed raw footage, since we will do our own editing. They are a husband and wife team and did 7 hours of 2 camera footage. It was great to work with them, and as they know Doug and Chenin, it made it all the better.
*(we have not watched/edited the footage yet - over 1 year later!! - b/c we don't have a camera that reads miniDV...LOL, well, we'll get to it eventually!)
Hair & Makeup:
I was much happier with my makeup on the wedding day than at my trial. After my trial, I had e-mailed suggestions and comments to Hair Comes the Bride, who passed it on to Gina. She totally worked it so that my wedding makeup was practically perfect. I really liked it! My hair kind of lost its curl throughout the night, but what do you expect from an outdoor, evening, wedding/reception at DCA?
DJ:
The Disney DJ was great! They have a website where you put in all your information and song selections, and then you actually meet or phone conference the DJ, and he will tailor your party to the type of event you want. He brought along another DJ as well, and they did a great job!
Disney Floral:
They did a GREAT job! At our tasting, they showed us 2 centerpiece samples. We went with the tall, slender one. We had to use Disney floral because our park reception came with a per table floral allotment that we had to use. We provided the mini snowglobes (see my sig. photos).
Aisle Runner - ordered through FTW:

Food: *note – we fed the photographers and videographers the buffet.
The Disney people really outdid themselves. The food was absolutely amazing. Yes, we DID eat. There was no way we were missing out on THAT. I HIGHLY recommend and suggest the Royal Feast buffet. Here is what we had:
Rock Crab Cobb Salad
Endive and Radicchio with parmesan balsamic vinaigrette
Carved Prime Rib
Grilled chicken breast with sun dried tomatoes and Portobello mushrooms
Cioppino
Pumpkin Ravioli
Grilled seasonal veggies
Roasted baby artichokes
The Royal Pastry Chef’s assortment of desserts and pastries
OMG, the best wedding food ever, probably up there with the best food ever. If you have this for dinner at your wedding, can we come?? LOL The prime rib was to die for, LOVED the pumpkin ravioli…and the desserts!
Cake was vanilla with white chocolate mousse and passionfruit! YUMMY! The other layer was chocolate cake with dark chocolate mousse. I am a big chocoholic, but I definitely preferred the white and passionfruit cake. Mmm...

Hi all, I just got engaged at WDW in December and will be getting married at Disneyland and am looking at May 17th of 2008. I kniw it is so far away but I am so excited. I am hoping to get some advice from other Dsineyland Brides. First of all, I am looking at having the ceremony at the Rose Garden, pre reception at the Brisa Courtyard, and the Reception at the Sequoia Ballroom. Has anyone had any experience at any of these locations? I am also looking for a very "fairy tale" esque gown, but don't want to spend more than $1k-1500, any advice or suggestiosn on good places to look that are't way more? lastly, I really want to have the special Fantasmic rehersal dinner. Does anyone know how much that generallt costs per person?? Thanks for the help!

I had my ceremony at the Rose Court Garden with my cocktail hour in the Brisa Courtyard, and the reception in the Trillium Room. Tyose are all great locations. You will not be disappointed. Especially with the RCG in bloom at that time of the year. I only know of one other bride wo had the Fantasmic event, but that was back in 2003 in a differnt group. I remember that hers was after her wedding and there were difficu7lties the entire process. WIth yours being a rehearsal you probbaly won't have any issues. It will probably be Riverside seating at the standard price. You just might have to go through events to plan it.

Ltl Mermaid-Its great to see another Disneyland bride on the board!! Sorry it took me so long to read your post! I'm getting married at the RCG w/the reception at the Pavilion Ballroom this August. Every picture I have seen of the RCG is amazing...I have some pics in my planning journal (link in my siggy). My planning session is at the end of this month and I plan on taking tons of pics and asking about a Fantasmic rehersal dinner.

Ltl Mermaid-I'll make sure to post all about my planning session! We are getting the bridesmaids dresses from www.watters.com. I think you can do a search on this website to find out who carries Watters dresses. We are getting the dresses from www.bridesmaidstore.com here in Austin. I know that www.netbrides.com sells these dresses but my bridesmaids store was able to match online prices. GL!

Ltl Mermaid- I asked my coordinator about a Fantasmic rehearsal dinner and was told that they no longer offer that. Things constantly change so you should ask about it when you have your planning session. I will be posting about my planning session soon :)

Thanks for asking about the rehersal dinner. I am kind of bummed that they aren't offering the fantasmic package. I cannot wait to hear all about your planning session, who is the coordinator you are working with. So far, all of my contact has been with Kelly Feeney, who seems tobe very nice and on the ball. Thanks again and I'll look for your planning session update soon!

When I was planning my wedding, I thought it was be more helpful if I could read vendor reviews all in one place so I created a web site for brides to post their reviews.
I would really appreciate it if you married ladies could post your reviews on any LA or Orange Country wedding vendors that you used.
For those of you that are engaged, I hope it can help you find reputable vendors that will make your day memorable!!

May I ask a (dumb) question? I know they have the Fantasmic dinner buffet, and the Electrical Parade rehearsal dinner, but I'm confused about how the Electrical Parade thing works. Anyone know?

What a VERY small world! Doug is actually my big brother! I actually have been a longtime member of the DIS but will most likely be getting married in October, 2008, so stumbled across your post when searching for Disneyland weddings. Its always wonderful to hear such great things about my big brother and sis in law! (And I agree with everything you said ;) ) I may have actually seen your pics around their house at one point (I used to occasionally help run errands, file photos, etc)...hmm...I'll have to ask them about you now!

I got married at Disneyland in 2005 and if I can give any advice to you brides to be it's to get yourself a day of coordinator. Even though Disney had assigned us a disney coordinator we couldnt have gotten through the day without our own coordinator. The problem with Disney coordinators is that they dont lift a finger to help you out with anything that you dont do through them.
For example we had made our own flower cones, baskets, favors, placecards, menus, rented centerpieces (candelabras) and seat linens from an outside vendor, had a non disney florist etc... well so our Disney coordinator refused to help set these things up for us and I wasnt about to run around on my wedding day setting up the reception room and ceremony area. I had to get ready and that was stressful enough.
So anyway, we hired a weding day coordinator and she did all the running around. She met up with us the night before at the rehearsal and gathered up all of our stuff (placecards, menus cones etc...) then the next day she arrived a few hours early and set up the reception room tables with all of our things, then set up the cones in their baskets at the ceremony, helped our florist set up the floral arrangements at the ceremony and reception, put out our bathroom baskets etc.... all the stuff our Disney coordinator wouldnt do.
It was well worth the money not to stress out and have everything done so I could concentrate on getting ready on my wedding day. Not to mention that during the wedding she made sure everything went smoothly and took everything down after the wedding and returned all of the stuff that was ours to our room including the gifts etc...
So ladies, I would highly reccomend a wedding day coordinator at your Disney wedding unless, you are doing everything through Disney.

Hi and congratulations to everyone who is getting married at Disneyland. We are in the very, very early stages of the planning and just had an "info" session at the DLR today to get more information to try to determine if Disneyland is even an option budget wise (keeping my fingers crossed but so far it is looking like a yes!!!).
One of the places I was looking into was the outdoor ceremony location at the Grand Californian and I just wanted to let everyone know that they have stopped "selling" that site due to a new tower that is going to be built at the Grand Californian. The woman we met with, Cynthia, said she has already had to move the location of her ceremonies at that location later this year because even though it will not directly affecting the garden area they can not guarantee what the view around it will be like and the last thing anyone wants is a big crane in their pictures.
Even though I can't start a planning journal on here yet - I at least wanted to give people a heads up and let them know that 2008 dates are/will be filling up faster based on the fact that the only ceremony location is the rose garden. All of the reception sites are still available at the Grand Californian though! :)

Quick question for the DL wedding experts:
Is it possible to do a vow renewal ceremony here, or is this only limited to weddings?
TIA!

You can do VR too, but the costs will more than likely be he same as a regular wedding as the fees for locations and food would be the same.

I have a question for anyone that can answer it:
I know that the Fairy Tale Wedding site says you should have at least a year, but how far ahead of your date did you start planning and actually put a down payment?
If anyone has any advice at all it would be greatly appreciated! :)

We started planning for our DLR wedding in October of 2002, had our down payment in 2 weeks later. So mid Oct of 2002 for a June of 03 wedding. The planning was completed by December. The main thing was just locking in our locations. As we were planning from a distance we wantd everything nailed down far inadvance and FTW complied.

We went to get information at the end of July, this year and to see what dates they had available for September 2008. The only date they had on Saturday not in the early afternoon was the date we got - August 30th, 2008 (Labor Day weekend).
It was a earlier than what I wanted, but because the garden at the Grand Californian is not going to be available for ceremonies until after the new tower is complete, the only place to hold the ceremony is at the Rose Garden at the DL hotel, so it has drastically cut down the availability for the ceremonies.
Our ceremony and reception our split up too because they didn't have the room available to accomodate our size at DL hotel, so our reception is at the Californian - which is just fine with me, I actually wanted the ceremony to be held their too - but the rose garden is just as beautiful.
I believe they will hold the date for you for 2 weeks before you have to put money down. Hope that helps! :)

Thanks for letting me know! I've been dreaming of a Disneyland wedding for a while. My boyfriend and I are planning on getting engaged really soon. But we probably wouldn't be able to get married until closer to 2010. So we would be engaged for close to two years.
But all would be worth it if I get the chance to get married at Disneyland. I've been interested in the Rose Court Garden but lately I have been thinking about somewhere at the Grand Califorian. But who knows, I've got time!

Fantasmic! Premium Seating With Dessert
The wonderful Disneyland show Fantasmic! is included in your theme park admission and is shown every night in the summer, and on weekends during parts of the winter. In low season it may not be offered. You can stand with the crowds and watch it for no extra cost. But if you want to watch Fantasmic! with the best possible view and comfortable seating (and enjoy yummy desserts at the same time), you may want to consider booking Fantasmic! Premium Seating.
Fantasmic! Premium Seating includes a reserved seat in a private area near the Haunted Mansion. There are about 60 seats in the Premium Seating area. You will also enjoy a fabulous dessert and drinks such as coffee, soda, iced tea and hot chocolate. If you book Premium Seating for the first performance of Fantasmic! offered that evening, you will also be allowed to keep your seat for the fireworks.
This is strictly a luxury experience and very costly. Reserved seating for Fantasmic! is $59 per adult, $49 per child.
To get reserved seating for Fantasmic! you MUST call one month before the day you plan to attend. (It usually sells out within minutes.) Be on the phone to (714) 781-4400 at 8:00 am (PST). They will give you a confirmation number. On the day of your reservation, you will need to bring that confirmation number, the credit card used to purchase the tickets, and photo ID.
On the day of your reservation, pick up your tickets at Guest Relations outside the Disneyland entrance. Show up at least 30 minutes in advance (45 is better) at the special seating area. They will call you about 20 minutes before the show and show you to your seats. Usually you will be seated based in the order of the tickets purchased, but this is not guaranteed.
We planned a dessert party for our guests right after our rehearsal and everyone had a great time! My mom called exactly one month before right when the ticket office opened and we were lucky to get tickets for all of our guests. Unlike WDW, Disneyland's dessert party is not a private party but a section blocked off with first come first serve seating for those that purchased a ticket. A couple of our family members arrived an hour early to reserve seats for the entire bridal party so that we were able to all sit together. We had the perfect view of Fantasmic! and we were able to stay and watch the firework show right after. We were given all you can drink soda, coffee and hot chocolate.
Here is a picture of the dessert platter that each guest got:

I am going to Disneyland for my first planning session in 10 days. On a lot of the WDW threads, they talk about receiving an AP as part of the package. Does anybody know if there is an AP as part of a FTW for DL?
I am so excited I can't wait for my trip!!!

Hi all~
Is this the Disneyland California Fairytale Weddings brides page now? I stopped looking at the wedding board on here because everything was for WDW. But it would be great if this was for California Brides.
Anyways, Df and I were going to get married at Disneyland in the Rose Court Garden on Oct. 31, 2008. BUT, we got into a head on collision a few weeks ago and it wiped out our wedding $$ , soooooo we are rescheduling for Oct, 31, 2009. We are fine and will be fine by then but I was a little sad and am still a little sad.
But, that will give me time to get absolutely EVERYTHING done. and lose that 25lbs.lol
Anyhoo, I hope this is our board, that would be super!

This board has information specifically for DL but you can a lot of great ideas on all the other posts. Unfortunatly it is kinda hard to hear about specific vendors and what not unless you find a DL bride.

Hi! I think we have just decided that we will have our wedding at disneyland. It is just much closer than wdw. So I was wondering if anyone knows any good resources for disneyland information. theres not much on these boards and their website doesn't have much. We won't be getting married until after I graduate college which will be in about 2 1/2 years, but I would like some info now to plan by.
Also I think wee will be going to dl soon and I was wondering if it is possible to show up or have an appointment where they give you basic information and maybe show you some of the areas. I was wondering so we could make sure this is what we want since so much money will be put into it.

If you get married at DLR and book the minimum I don't think there is an extra charge, but that is just what I have gleaned from various posts. You pay the wedding site fee, but the reception fee is no charge (except for the food decorations flowers dj etc etc etc)

I believe our DCA minimums were the same as hotel minimums. The only difference is that for an in park event you have a mandatory, set entertainment fee. Plus you have to use Disney Floral and Disney's DJ. No exceptions... If your guests are walking through the park when it is open, you have to pay for Disney escorts, too...

So, I didn't get much information that I didn't already have and I would suggest other DL Brides to forgo a site visit and just do the planning session and tasting session. The planning session is suggested at 8 months out & I was told we couldn't do a tasting session until 2 months prior. Hopefully I can push one back a little and one up a little. I was only able to see halls that I could use but if you want to see a picture of one of the two rooms I was able to see let me know and I will pm you. However, March was a wonderful time to go to Disney and am thinking about moving my wedding up a few weeks. I told Dan that we had to make a decision by the end of this weekend about the date change and then I will officially start planning.
If there are any specific questions please let me know. I was not given any specific information about the Animation building because I told her I wanted it in the Grand Californian Hotel. I think they are pretty wise to us asking questions for others. I did get pricing info for menus, bars, and cakes- however I don't know what half the cakes look like.
I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful to all the soon-to-be Dineyland Brides. We are a rare breed!

It all depends on what you want for your wedding. You have basic minimums you have to hit: 10,000 for weekday weddings, 12000 friday-sunday weddings. All food and beverage MUST come from Disney but that's it. More than likely you won't have much trouble meeting that with your food and ceremony location fee. I am planning on using an outside photographer, dj, and possibly florist. For in park there is a higher minimum for Disneyland at 100,000. They do not quote minimums for DCA & you inquire to that on your own. They say the average cost for a Wedding ins 26,000 right now. You can definatly do less than that at Disney.

I moved my wedding up to April 23 but my May date was available as well. The person I spoke to said Saturday's fill up very quickly but mid-week weddings are more rare. I would suggest you talk to someone as soon as you have a definite idea on your date. They are not as strict as WDW about booking Weddings at a certain month mark. Mine is over a year a way and I should be getting my contract this week. :goodvibes I think at the time she still had weekends available for May 2009. Hope that helps somehow!

Val,
Almost all of my guests stayed offsite. We provided them with a list of the nearby hotels and indicated the ones that we recommended the most. Many of our guests stayed at the Dessert Inn and Suites because they accommodate more people in their rooms and were much cheaper than Disney's hotels. This worked well for my moms family as they were able to get some of their rooms near each other. They just called and asked for their rooms to be grouped together.
Others stayed at HoJo and requested their rooms to be near eachother. As with any request no guarantees about room location, but all requests were accommodatd for most.

Well, I do recall that I was spoken to within a day or two of my original call. However, currently planning my wedding things do take a little while to get responded to. Please, don't give up. Everyone is extremely nice there once you get a hold of someone. But, Disneyland is not as big with the weddings as WDW so while you hear these girls get helped almost instantly it does take us a while. Have you filled out their info. request on the website? You get an email with some info. but that I remember took a few weeks. I have never called and been able to immediatly speak with my WM just leave a message and she gets back to me.

Hi there! This is my first time exploring the DIS boards, so please forgive the late reply, but this is definitely possible! My DH and I had our wedding reception there in March, 2004. It was amazing! There is a higher overall event minimum because it's an in-park event, and there are some additional limitations on outside vendors. We were actually the first couple to do it so it was a bit of a bumpy process as FTW figured out the logistics. It was SO worth it though!!!

GO there. Don't take "we'll call you" for an answer. They really are very nice and helpful. Even if they are busy and can't see you then, you can look around, check out their books and get a "feel" for the place and make an appointment. My daughter and I just walked in and spoke to someone. If there are any DL brides out there... did you hire a wedding planner outside of Disney? If so, who did you hire and how was the service? TIA
RangerPooh

We did not hire any outside planners. I didn't find it to be necessary as the FTW planners are more than dilligent to your wedding day needs. What I did for the small tasks that I did not want to bothe rour planners for was to designate a friend or family member who wa snot in the bridal party to double check on things (ie. to make sure that our clothes were moved from our dressing room to our wedding night room).
We planned our wedding from Northern California and did not need anyone to go between us and FTW. As far as our vendors were concerned we contacted them ourselves and we met with some in advace when possible. Plus we communicated with our planners on a regular basis via telephone and email. Honestly I do not forsee the need to use anyone outside of Disney as they know how their events go, their locations, and are more then dilligent to your needs.

Hi
I was wondering if anybody knew what the new minimums were for a Disneyland wedding in 2010? and do I have to wait until 18 months out to call and get penciled in? What is the exact timeline? I'm finally engaged, but we're not getting married until Dec. 2010 so I was wondering how early I can contact Disneyland? Thanks!!! :thumbsup2

Unfortunately I do not know what the new minimums are but as far as calling, give ot a shot now. The worst they can say is to call back in August. I do know a bride who recently signed her contract at 18+ months, and it is NOT an in park event. With the economy the way that it is they might be willing to pencil you in sooner.

Hi All,
I'm just starting to plan my DL wedding for Dec. 2009. RCG ceremony/Garden room reception. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good officiant. We only want about a 20 minute ceremony and something that's not too traditional because we may want to say our own vows. Not sure yet.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jeanie

Hi Jeanie!
First congratulations on your upcoming wedding!! Even though it feels so far in the future, it will come so fast!! :)
My DH and I got married at the RCG with our reception at the GC on 8/30/08. We used Rev. Uhlar for our officiant and loved him. He is one of Disney's recommended vendors and has a couple of different cermonies that you can use (one is more religious than the other). We didn't use our own vows, but he would have accomodated if we had and I believe the ceremony was less than 25 minutes (although it feels like seconds when you are up there!!)
I believe his website with his information is www.wedding-ceremonies-officiants.com .
If you have any questions at all about anything Disneyland wedding related I would be more than happy to assist!
Congrats again!

Hi Krista,
Congratulations to you, as well!
Thank you for your reply. I liked Rev. Uhlar's website and will be giving him a call. I'll tell him that he came highly recommended.
Did you by any chance do a PJ or trip report?
Thank you again!

You know, I didn't. I had every intention of doing a trip report for both the wedding and the honeymoon when we got back from our Disney World honeymoon at the end of September and somehow it is now almost the end of January and I still don't know where the past few months have gone!
Part of the lack of a trip report is because I haven't gotten my wedding photos back yet from my photographer (she did an incredible job) as she does wedding photography part time, so its taken a little longer. However, if you ever want to check out the unedited photos from our day the website is www.ourphotocorner.com, the event name is Krista and Brian, date is August 2008 and the password is fairytale. :)

Hi
I am hoping to have a small reception in late Nov/early December this year.
I have been going through all the information that was sent out and I am having a bit of trouble getting through it and I hope this isn’t a silly question (or one that has been asked & answered a hundred times :) ) but can you have a ceremony or renewal off site and then just have a reception style lunch/dinner? If you hire a Disney photographer can you have pictures in your wedding dress or do they consider it an escape wedding regardless of ceremony or not?
As we don’t want to have a vow renewal on site, but would be happy with everything else. We really hoped to have a small celebratory lunch or dinner either on our own or with one or with two close friends. I was also hoping to hire a photographer for either a trash the dress style shoot or a shoot in our wedding attire if we are allowed, but we don’t want to have the ceremony at DL do we have any options :confused3 ?

Krista, Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful pictures. Your wedding looked fabulous. I loved the photos with you in the carriage. You really do look like a princess! And those centerpieces are gorgeous! I don't think I will be able to find the time to do a PJ either. Maybe a trip report. It would be a good keepsake for later when all the wonderful details start to fade. Oh well, we'll see... the intention is there. Thanks again for sharing!!!
Hi Nessa, How exciting for you!
You can have just the reception at any of the hotels at the DLR. Depending on the guest count it might be more economical to have it at one of the restaurants in Downtown Disney. Or if you're not going to be wearing a traditional wedding gown you can have it in one of the parks. The Blue Bayou has great atmosphere and I heard they sell some romantic dinner package for two. It costs $150, but you get to keep the toasting glasses. Or you can try the Golden Vine at CA. But they did close the fine dinning area, private parties have a minimum of 50 guests or you can pay an extra service charge. And that's on top of the $70 per person. I think there are some nicer restaurants in Grand CA and Disneyland Hotels. Just go on their website or the dining sticky here on Disboards. Brides aren't allowed to wear wedding gowns in the parks because guests might mistake them for character/princess'. I think if you hire a Disney approved photographer you might be able to pix in the park before it opens. Not sure. Is an Escape wedding for DL or WDW? Good Luck!!!

Sorry you are right they call it Escape at WDW but I basically want something similar to this at DL.
I am so confused and I think I will just give up :sad2: ! I have finally found a Disney contact who could sent us out some information on Disneyland weddings but she talks in circles and I have no idea what to do :confused3
It will just be me and DH, we have organized our ceremony elsewhere as it has taken 18months for us to get to this initial stage of planning and I don’t want to come home from our trip not married. So I have organised the ceremony outside of Disney.
What I want is…
* Flowers – a small bouquet for me and a button hole for DH
* Photography – wedding day photo shoot, preferable in the park and a honeymoon shoot
* Intimate reception/celebration lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants for just the 2 of us we may have 2 friends with us to.
That’s it I really can’t think of anything other than Hotel rooms and park tickets that we might want (unless have I forgotten anything important?)
And this is the response I got again today from Disney on my question above
You can have a reception only A weekday wedding reception has to have a minimum of $10k plus 21% service charge and 7.75% tax. What could possibly be included in that 10k is food & beverage, DJ or other reception music, centerpieces, favors and other Disney Elements. What is not included in that 10k is the hotel rooms, theme park tickets, photography or videography, invitations or bridal attire. Looking forward to working together.
So does that mean that we would pay $10K USD + photography + hotels + theme park tickets? For just the two of us :faint: ?
I really liked disneyfifs idea of a restaurant in DTD but was hoping to be able to organise through Disney weddings, especially coming from Oz it would be so much easier for us to be able to coordinator through a area person.
Can anyone help explain this too me I am so confused

DL stopped doing their version of the intimate wedding package in 2003. For an event through them you would have to meet their minimum expenditures whihc for 2 people would be very expensive.
Disneyluvr81

Hi Nessa --
I definitely do not want to be the bearer of bad news but from what I recall from when were were planning our wedding and from what you have posted, the minimum expenditure is $10k to go through Disney Weddings. They do not offer any sort of initimate type packages.
Unfortunately, DL does not have such an extensive wedding department & offerings as WDW. As far as I know, DL also does not offer the in-park photo shoots and honeymoon photo packages as WDW does nor do they do their own photography (which is why it isn't included in the minimum), they have recommended vendors.
We used a Disney recommended photographer who also did our engagement photos in the park and even after much encouragement from Disney Weddings we were harrassed all day by security at both parks because our photographer didn't have a "press pass". We weren't wearing anything fancy either, just jeans and matching polo shirts. Out of all the shoots she had done in the park before, she had never needed a press pass and no one that I spoke to (including my coordinator) after the incident knew anything about it. It was horrible. We got gorgeous photos from it and do have very good memories of the day, but the way we were treated by security definitely tainted the memory.
As others have said before, your best bet would be to try to make a reservation at one of the hotel restaurants or DTD. Steakhouse 55 at the DL Hotel and Napa Rose at the GC are both lovely restuarants. I would confirm though that they will not give you any issue for being there in your wedding attire. Blue Bayou in DL would of course be romantic as well, but again, as fas as I know, Disney will not allow you in the park in your wedding attire (if it is casual enough to pull of as just being "nicely dressed" - you may be able to do that).
I wish we had some of the offerings WDW did, I would have LOVED an in park shoot in my dress, but unfortunately we on the west coast get jipped in the wedding department!
Good luck with your planning and I am really sorry that it isn't sounding like DL Weddings will be able to offer you what you are looking for on your wedding day! :guilty:

Disneyland doesn't really have the infrastructure that Disney World does, so there really is no Disney Floral, they subcontract it out to outside florists, and take a cut for themselves. You get a lot more for your money hiring your own florist, a professional florist is used to all the hoops Disney makes you go through like cleanup fees and the such, and they will build in all the set-up and clean-up fees into their price.
We're hiring Bobbe Vagel at http://www.bvfloralconcepts.com and while he doesn't really fall into the super budget category, I feel like you get a lot for your money with him. For the amount of money it would cost to put up fabric and twinkle lights from the Disney Folk, he is doing personal floral, and reception and ceremony floral.
The only way to get things set up on your own is to have some friends and family do it, or hire someone to do it.

Disney only provided our personal floral. DH and I made our centerpieces, and family members made some the gazebo decor which was transfered to the reception site. My aunts and cousins did the set up for us which was fine as I have a family who is not only creative, but wanted to help in some way. Disney said that if they did it for us they would charge a set up/take down fee.

I don't know the cost, but there is an outdoor reception location that may or may not be available. It is located on the 3rd or 4th floor (where the pool is) at the PPH. You will find a tented location that can be enclosed for a reception. I know of one person who was scheduled to have her reception there a few years ago but due to rain they moved her inside the Pavillion Room.
I have watched the fireworks from this location, but it is quite a distance away. Also, the noise from the pool area might be an issue. But who knows, the hotel might close it early due to a private event.

When I went to our initial meeting the person I spoke to said they were re-doing the location at the PPH, although she didn't say when it would be available. It might be completed by 2010.
I would not recommend an outdoor event in December in anaheim, it can get unpredictably cold. I fee like inland the weather can get a lot more unpredictable than the coasts where the weather tends to be pretty stable.

Yay for this forum! We decided TODAY to have our wedding reception in the Sleeping Beauty Pavilion at DL. Thanks to all of your advice, we have decided to use outside vendors for our favors, flowers, and music. HOWEVER...
Does anyone know how much Disney charges for those light-filled curtains that decorate the room? I've seen them in most pictures but am not sure how much they will charge for that option. This is one decoration piece that I just cannot do as a DIY project.
A second question is, how much is the "additional" fee for a holiday wedding? Valentines Day falls on a weekend next year and we're considering it.

Hi Eri,
I don't know the exact cost of the lighting, as we decided early on to forgo it, but at our initial meeting I was told it was somewhere in in the 3k range, which is not cheap, in fact that's most of our floral budget :scared1: I would call them for definite pricing, also ask them about using an outside vendor for that, whether they would allow it or not that is.
If you are seriously considering v-day next year I would book soon, as I have been told they are taking bookings up to 18 months in advance since at this point in time they are down to one ceremony site and other people may have had the same idea. Good luck!

Hello all, for those of you who have already had the initial meeting with the wedding planners, I was wondering what I could come to expect. If anyone knows how much (percentage) is due down to lock in your date, that would also be helpful! ;)
Has anyone had an in park wedding in DL as opposed to DCA. I am curious as to if there is a substantial price difference or not.
:confused:Any info would be great!

I believe that the current price of the deposit for most locations is $2k. The cost difference bewteen DCA and DL ar every different! I know that price fluccuates but if I recall correctly DCA starts at ~$35k and DL ~$65k.
At your planning sessions you'll discuss possible locations, minimum expenditure, floral and entertainment, menu options, etc. This is your opportunity to give your planner an idea of who you are and what kind of wedding you are interested in. Always bring ideas with you (including pictures) and inquiring about options available, even if out of your budget.
Happy Planning.

DL does not have designated portrait photographers like WDW does. They only have the Photopass ones. When looking for a photographer look for ones who ahev shot DL weddings. Plus take into consideration if they ahve an AP or if you will be buying their pass(es) that day. Off the top of my head I think* some brides have used Jen O'Sulivan, Joe Lumina, and the Boutwells.

What did you go over? Our date will be about 18 months out at that point and I really want to make sure we get the date we wanted since i hear that it can be pretty competitive for dates. I don't think you'll run into much judgment around here for wanting to be married at the Haunted Mansion around here. I would say your best bet is to call and ask, but I think as far as I have heard it's not very likely. I think when I asked the question about locations to my planner and I mentioned the theme parks she specifically said the castle area was it, and I think the minimum to have any event in a park there was $100,00. I wouldn't take my word as the final say on any of it though, when in doubt, I say ask.

I would call them and make an appointment. We met with them at about 12 months out, but that was when we decided to have our wedding. I have read other people say they were able to schedule dates at Disneyland 18 months out, since right now they only have one ceremony location available at the hotels.

We inquired about this back in 2002-2003 when we planned our wedding. The answer that they told us then was no. However as previously mentioned, the do ahve the in-park option in front of the castle. We did inquire becuase we knew that on occassion special dinners are held inside the mansion, but they told us a big no. Doesn't hurt to ask though.

Congratulations, Sam! The only advice I can think of is to do a lot of research. You have your theme picked out so search all you can on all the elements of your wedding in your theme. Bookmark all the web pages that you like. Don't be too quick to buy. I made this mistake and now have favors sitting in the closet because they didn't end up complimenting the look I eventually wanted. The planning packet that you get from Disney will be the guideline for the planning session. Don't mark "not interested" unless you're sure you don't want the element in question. In our planning session we needed to ask about different decor that we saw on planning journals on this board. It was not offered to us as a choice so the more you know what's available the better for you. Good luck!

My advice would be to definitely look into outside vendors. You'll get more bang for your buck if you do, when I look at the amount of stuff we got from our florist and what Disneyland has given other weddings for near the same price I am so glad we went that way. We hired someone to do chair covers at $4.50 a pop as opposed to 8. We brought our own wine and champagne and just paid the corkage fees.
Our planner was also really god about working with our vendors, so overall I don't feel like it was that much more work to hire them and deal with them individually.
Disneyland doesn't have all the restrictions WDW has on outside vendors unless you are having your wedding in one of the parks, which most people aren't. DL doesn't even have all these services within their infrastructure, so for most things they hire outside vendors and act as middlemen. In doing my research for our wedding I met some of the vendors that work for DL, and some of them could specifically not be hired to do a DL wedding because of that, but you could hire them for a wedding anywhere else.

Thanks for the advice! This seems to be the trend that ive been hearing. I'm glad you told me about the florist because i was still not sure weather I should go through disney for that or not. It looks like it will be a no. I've been engaged for 2 1/2 years already so I have done a lot of research. Now that we've picked a date, I actually get to start putting all my knowledge to use.

Hi everyone,
First time on the Weddings/Honeymoon board, so I was wondering if it's really true that it costs $100,000 to have your wedding in front of the castle in the park? Also, someone asked the question before, but I didn't see the answer: is there a place where Disneyland brides have posted their budgets for reference?
Thanks in advance!

That sounds like it might be about right. I got a lot of info from http://www.mouseweddings.comwhen we started planning. Their minimums might be a little out of date, but they set in park at $75k minimum.
You should join the Disneyland brides group on Yahoo groups, there is a section once you become a member where people upload their BEO's and other documents as well as lots of photos.

Forgive my ignorance, never planned or been to a wedding before in my life (honestly!)... what's a BEO? THANKS! =)

It's basically your estimated budget for the event based on the elements that you would like to include in your wedding that DL provides. Examples would include your site rental fee, floral, catering, DJ (if go through FTW), characters, non-standard linens or chairs, etc.
