Ok, bear with me, am doing a little "market research"... :)
I know that oyu lot are into holidays and having fun, but wonder how many of you are into spas, beauty treatments, "pamper breaks", day spas etc...
So am posting this poll.

I LOVE getting massages! Havent had one for a couple of years tho as I havent really had the time. I used to have a massage or a facial every few months, usually after someone bought me a voucher as a present. Ive never been to a spa before tho. :goodvibes

Good poll. Cant say they appeal to me. I think its because I am always too busy.

Interesting to see the results so far, 80% with no interest whatsoever! I thought it was only me who couldn`t be bothered :confused3

I think it will be interesting to see - there DEFINITELY seems to be a growing market for both day spas and residential spas (where I count anything from a "hotel with a decent spa" to a "full blown pampering resort or health farm"... there are LOTS of shades of grey in that) in this country...
... I guess most of us tend to put most of our spare money into trips to Disney and other holidays abroad, but am just wondering what the "spa going" demographic is around here... :)
Personally I belong to a country club type place (gym, pools, tennis etc) and get the occassional massage there. We also go to stay at a spa (next to the SIlverstone Race Circuit) a couple of times a year - but that is more for the facilities and great food than the treatments. :)

I've never bothered with them, even the home treatments. I even hate going to the hairdressers, I only seem to go once a year! The thought of lying still for that long puts me off, I can't even sit and watch TV for more than an hour without getting fidgity, I nearly always have the internet on at the same time or a magazine open to read. I guess I'm a product of my generation, we have no capability to be still, too many e numbers in youth!! I think the only time I'll bother with such things in the forseable future will be the week before my wedding day!!

I hate the idea, I don't like physical contact from strangers for some reason. hate the hair dressers for the same reason.

I go regularly for massage, reflexology etc and we had our very best holiday ever in Grenada at an hotel that provided a spa treatment every day as part of the package - the most relaxing holiday. :goodvibes

I'm a huge fan of spas and massages. I have a massage once a month after I have had a facial.
Four or five times a year I go for a spa day either with my friends or my mum. They are expensive but the day is so relaxing and you really do get your moneys worth with the treatments and the pampering.

Two years ago I was given a day at the Sanctuary (ladies only spa in Covent Garden) as a Christmas present. At the time I really thought it wasn't my thing but went along. Well, needless to say I loved it, I was hooked and since then I've requested it as a present from my DH for birthday's and christmas :goodvibes In fact I'm off there in two weeks time to de-stress before the run up to Christmas and my holiday :teeth:

I have voted as somewhat interested as I think this is something that would appeal once my family have grown up and it is just DH and I holidaying. I think it is something I would only do as an occasional treat on holiday though.

Ah, but men's spa treatments are one of the BIGGEST grwoing areas... a lot of men are getting into massage and facials and looking after their skin etc. It isn't a "sexuality" thing either - it is just becoming very fashionable for young men (late teens and their twenties in particular) to look after themselves and be well groomed.
Also a lot of men are going for waxing these days (ok, not quite pampering, but the same sort of thing...). I hope for men's sakes, that the whole "hair removal" things doesn't go as far as it goes for women these days (i.e. that society expects you to have hairless legs, underarms and everywhere else). Well actually maybe I do! :rotfl2:
You are just young, pokemon_master... you might grow into the whole spa/pampering thing ;). You and your friends wont be meeting in HMV to pick out the new games console games, you will be meeting at the day spa for the latest facial in a few years... :)

I can understand where you are coming from. I am not keen on hairdressers (necessary evil!), but that is probably because I get bored...
Massages and treatments are ok because the people touching you are COMPLETELY professional - it's not like they are touching a person, they are just touching a group of muscles that they are knowledgeable about. I always go for deep tissue massages - which are especially firm.
Sometimes I go to spas and don't have treatments: just enjoy the facilities (gym, pools, steam rooms, saunas, jacuzzis, good food).

I'd have spa treatments all the time if I could afford them. I live very near Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordshire and go once or twice a year for a day of absolute pampering. It's bliss :)

I didn't know that Boo. You learn something new every day huh? :teeth:
I don't know whether I'll get into pampering just yet as my mum struggles to get me to shower once every other day.. :rotfl:
