This might me be just me but it seems like everyone is obsessed with the POTC movie!! Why?? Its a good movie but not that good. It came out in July!! What is the big obsession with these movies? It always one of the threads on and people always have avatars and sigs with them. Did I miss something?? :confused3

I love the movies, it has a good plot. However, the actors AREN'T that good. There are many better actors in the world, and generally, they are not as well known, and aren't as good looking. But it's not the quantity (in this case the looks) it's the quality.
But most of the time I absolutely hate these movies. Why? Because you make me hate them. You go on about them, I'm forced to look at Johnny Depp in every sig, you have a million posts about them, and it gets old. Fast. The movie wasn't that good, the actors aren't that good, and honestly, I don't understand why it's such a big deal.
I don't have a problem with Fangirls, I just have issues with the things they obsess with. And POTC is one of those things I can't stand.
End rant, please don't take anything offensively, I don't feel like getting flamed.

I love johnny depp's acting ablitly. He really becomes the character. Orlando doesn't. He turns the character into himself. hence all of his characters seeming appear the same. The actors (other than johnny) really weren't that good. But I do think that Depp really made the movie worth it.

I liked the movie. I think the plot was really good. I honestly did not go to see these movies until my cousins forced told me that they thought I'd like it. Plus, my mom did wanted to go.

End of story, I like the movie besides the fact of whose in it. Yeah, I can get obsessed easily (that's a Scorpio trait). If you seriously go to the ends of the universe to get me to stop, I will.

I liked the first one. Johnny Depp was good, Orlando was not so good. The girl was very good. I didn't like the previews for the second, and thought it looked odd. I didn't see it, and have no desire to. It seems to get a little more hype than it deserves. No flames!

Honestly, I went to see it because of Orlando. Although many disagree, I think he is a very good actor. Not the best, obviously, but he's still pretty good. And Johnny Depp is remarkable; the role of Jack Sparrow was made for him. I think it has a wonderful story, if it can get a bit complicated, but it keeps you guessing, unless you're totally biased one way or another. Yes, there are some fans out there who like it only because of the people in it, but I for one love it because it's - simply put - a great movie. I don't rant about it, I don't pressure other people into becoming obsessed with it, or even to like it. I mean, I love it, but just because I do doesn't mean others will. Common sense, really.

Let me first say that I am a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean...

...now let me say that I completely agree with you in that it has become an obsession! Here are the catergories of additcion and placement: (in my own opinion and sadly my own mind lol)

The crew: The type of people who fall into this catergory are those who obsess over Pirates of the Caribbean because, well, I mean the kids over there love it...so naturally these people do also. In other words, they follow the group and do what they do because it is popular with the kind of people they want to be friends with or envy.

The Seagulls: The type of people who fall into this catergory are those who obsess over what is in the "ship" or movie. They only watch it because they think Orlando is like omg totally hott! And because Johnny Depp is oh so like dreamy! "The Seagulls" are generally made up of young teenaged girls with hormone levels spurting through the roof when it comes to older men.

The Captain's Mates: The type of people who fall into this catergory are those who feel they could be a pirate too. They think and act as a lundlubber in a swashbuckling outfit! Unfortunately, these are also the type of people who are made fun of and most likely had parents or older siblings or maybe ARE the Dungeons and Dragons fans from years back. Whatever it is, these people are not to be reackond with...they WILL try to make you walk the imaginary plank -- something no one wants, really.

Those are the "obsession" catergories, in my mind lol. Thankfully I don't fall subject to any one of them! lol. (And no, I didn't make it so I wasn't, heh -- I'm a fair person. -- I am FAR from being obsessed over POTC lol.)

I have yet to see a movie that I've liked them in. However, Jake shows more potential than Orlando. Though, Orlando shows determination as he does not mind taking voice lessons for movies where he needs to sound Americanized.

I believe however, POTC is meant to be a trilogy.

I LOVED the first POTC movie and I have always loved the original ride. But the second movie did nothing for me. I love jack sparrow and johnny depp.....hes a great actor. orlando is not bad but not as good as johnny. I understand people are in love with them but i think being obssessed is a little overboard as opposed to just being "fangirls" or w/e.
just the second movie didnt do much for me so I hope the 3rd is better and they dont drag it out! :goodvibes
