From the dining board - Tusker House may become a character meal.

Any truth to the rumor ?

When would it happen ?
What characters ?
Different menu ?
Higher prices ?

why are they going to ruin a good CS place? Ruin one of the lame ones at MGM or MK.

DAK hardly has any places to eat that are good. My Favorite is Flame Tree, but it's only open seasonally so the only alternative is Tusker House. I won't go near Restaurantasaurus or Pizzafari. So why turn it into a overpriced character meal? Do it to Restaurantasaurus, where they do the character breakfasts. JMHO

I so agree with you on this one. I usually don't care too much about the character meals but since I can no longer have lunch in Norway without the princesses I don't really want to see any limits placed on my eating at AK. Why have it at AK when the park closes so early anyway?

well if people don't want it they wouldn't do it.

and about the comment about the MGM studios and character meal quick services. there is only two locations that could handle characters and thats teh and vine and Sci Fi . and the hollywood and vine has it. Brown derby could work , but it's just not large enough to handlle a character meal in the park.

I was so disappointed to read this news. Tusker House is one of our WDW favorites -- for breakfast, lunch, or an early dinner. When we go to AK, we're not looking for a sit-down meal. If we are, we head over to AKL and Boma.

I really like Flame Tree and Tusker House. Hope they leave themt he way they are...Also a fan of character meals...wouldn't mind if they added lunch and dinner at the Restaurantasaurus or at the Pizzafari...

How about a mix of "jungle" characters -- Lion King, Jungle Book, Tarzan...

We don't like any of the AK options. A character meal would be an improvement.

The only news I've heard in regards to new Dining at AK is that there will be a new Asian themed place that will have BOTH CS and TS menus.

Yes. The Character Dining needs to slow down. They've ruined Norway with the princesses and menu changes. That was one of my faves at Epcot. AK already has the Character Dining in DinoLand. Why on Earth do they need more? Throw it back at the Camp if anywhere.

Agreed 100%, and they'd better not touch my Sci-Fi Dine In Theater!!!

Man, I enjoyed Tusker House. Was one of the only edible places in DAK.

You know, if we follow that logic, that means they wouldn't have opened Tusker House as a non-character restaraunt if people didn't want it.

I'm not a big fan of Tusker House. In fact, I'm not the biggest fan of AK as a whole, but my biggest reason for that is the lack of attractions.

But one of the things I do like is the feel of some of the areas, the themeing etc. And I have to say putting a character meal in the middle of Africa doesn't exactly add to the themeing that I, and I thought others, like.

I like DAK more than you do, but I completely agree with you here. This would be, well, stupid and out of place. To me, there are 2 good places to eat, Flame Tree (my fave) and this place.

. . . Why on Earth do they need more? . . .

1) Because they make BIG BUCKS on character meals.
2) You would not pay $20.00 for lunch per person otherwise.
3) As long as folks want these for the kids, character meals will grow.

I have never figured out why others like Tusker House. :confused3 Very much a last resort for us. Lack luster food, and not enough seating.
To me the just the layout alone makes it a poor choice for dining meet n greets. But if this happens, I am sure TH would be packed. TH is a busy place even without characters. But there are so few eating choices in AK any way.
Could also be with the new Nemo musical and EE, they want to balance out the park and get guests to go to the other side. :confused3

I enjoyed Tusker House when we were there. My kids are not the least interested in character meals and I sure don't want to spend the extra money on them.
