Happymommy, you do not need your passport to shop. St. Maarten takes US money and we always use our credit cards. St. Thomas is US so no problems there. Remember any alcohol you buy on the islands to bring back home has to be packed in checked baggage.

When we go to the islands I always carry our passports in my purse. I know others say don't do that but I do not venture into foreign territory without it. ST. Thomas isn't foreign territory but if you miss the ship you have to have that passport to fly back to the US.

Kathy

Thanks, Kathy! I remember that in the airport in San Juan we had to show our passports and airline tix to buy duty free, so I thought we'd need that also in St. Maarten or St. Thomas, to prove we're not local. We would only purchase a small amount to consume on the ship - it's not worth it to me to save the money to take it back home. I'm sure we'll have our luggage stuffed as it is! I may carry our passports with us as well.

Got my documents today! That was so cool to have the UPS man deliver them! Now we're just thinking about starting to pack!

My DH is thinking about tuxes for him and DS now. Anyone else doing them? I think it'll save a lot of packing as well - he can wear it to formal night, Palo, then semi formal night, so 3 nights taken care of. I found some for DS on ebay, but just waiting to see if DH's friend wants to spring for the tux as well (they will look so cute in them!).

Liz -

I know I mentioned this way (WAY) back (can't believe it's almost cruise time!) but we're in Maryland as well. And we're forward on deck 7 also, connecting cat 10's. Of course, a verandah would have been nice, but I couldn't swallow the extra $ for that when I booked. And I liked the idea that we could have 2 cabins to stretch out when we are in the room (which won't be a whole lot of the time probably).

Don't quite get the tag thing, but I haven't even looked into magnets yet! I don't know how to make those cute ones I see in some posts, but did snag some lime green Mickey's a long time ago at Home Depot. Off to Michael's one of these days soon.

We got ours today too. 19 DAYS TO GO!:hourglass Our weather has been so lousy (snow, ice, etc...). Warm weather and nice warm ocean breezes sound so nice.

Lisa and others,
I just looked at the weather in St. Thomas. Take a look at this link:
http://*******.com/2uvw44
/tiny url (no space)

I think we picked the best month for cruising - not too hot or cold and the lowest amount of rainfall. 18 days and counting!!! I can't wait to get out of the snow.

Good Afternoon fellow cruise mates! I am going crazy here in Iowa! We got slammed again with another snowstorm!!! I can't take it any longer. I also learned today that we are suppose to have yet another storm this weekend!!!STOP please, enough already. We learned the lake we boat on in southern IA has 17", yes 17" of ice. So much for our boating season starting on April 1st this year. (We have a Carver aft cabin, no we don't water ski April 1st but we do leave the Canvas top up and the thick see through plastic glass up and we do have fun--but it won't happen this April.)

I'll stop whining now. We gave son's girlfriend's son his birthday gift. What a hit, he loves his Captain Jack Sparrow pirate costume. He is just bursting with joy about the upcoming trip.

His mother is looking forward to it and is also nervous about flying. She has never been in a plane before.

We sent home the suitcases Sunday so they can start packing. I photo copied my packing list so she has something to guide her.

Silly me, I sent with the "kids" our extra rollerboard. Wouldn't you know it, husband had an overnight business trip today. Last night we had to locate a dufflebag for him to use.

Our new cocktail dresses arrived and mine fits. I still need to corner daughter and have her try her's on. Husband took son and little boy out and bought them tuxes. They looked so handsome when they tried them on for me.

I live in IA why???? I can't wait to get back down to warm sunny Florida.

Cruise Docs Received! DD(10 on 3/11) excited there are a lot of girls 9-11. DS(11) worried there are too many. Wilderness Lodge the night before and the night after cruise (Pirate and Princess Party in the MK on 3/14). We booked both all day beach excursions on both St Maarten and St Thomas.

First, is sea sickness seriously a problem? I didn't think we would even feel the boat moving.

Much of the time you barely do. I have had a history with sea sickness on ferries and fishing head boats, so I knew to take meds before boarding :-) However, from what I felt during my first trip, and from what I've heard from others, it's not that unusual to have at least one day that you really *can* feel the ship moving. You may not feel it all the time as you move around and do other things, but you're likely to feel it when you're sitting or lying still. We had moderate seas on our "at sea day" during the first cruise I took. From time to time the ship moved enough that footing could be a bit "odd", but not as bad as the descriptions I've seen from time to time about not using elevators and almost crawling up the stairs to be safe. It varies.

I ended up taking the "less drowsy" Dramamine, and I could identify motions that have been a problem at other times in smaller boats... but had no trouble with queeziness that trip - just the very odd thought from time to time that I *should* feel queasy, and wasn't it odd that I didn't :-)

I'm one of those with a 9 1/2DD on the trip... so I'm sure they'll come across each other at least from time to time. I hope you plan to meet up at the terminal before boarding (and/or at Scoops... was it after the drill? can't remember what that post on the first page said - info is there). All those 8-11 girls (and others of course) will get a chance to meet each other before they check out the Oceaneer Lab :-)

Hi Everyone...I'm new to this forum and Disney cruising. Gathering from everyone's enthusiam, it is going to be great fun. Is anyone on here from SW Ohio? I'll be traveling with my sons (3 & 7), husband, parents, brother, and his family (wife and daughters ages 8 & 10).

:welcome: kalaha! I'll add you to the list of cruisers on page 1 post #8.

Welcome aboard!

We are from Northern Kentucky (about 20 miles south of Cincinnati).

We are going to take a few beverages on board. I think we'll get it before we board and use a soft sided cooler. I like an occasional cocktail from time to time:rolleyes1

There are a lot of 9 - 11 yr. old girls on this thread including my dd and niece. She's excited to meet her cruise buddies.

Lisa

DD10 is really excited to meet her cruise friends too! She's got about 20 green bead necklaces to hand out in the kids meet at port.

Welcome Kalaha, We always choose a cabin on one of the lower decks because my daughter is so prone to motion sickness. The lower you are, the less motion in rough seas. We also try for the middle of the ship. Our porthole cabin is on deck 2 and in the middle.

The last Disney cruise we went on was the only one where we really felt the motion. That's because the ocean was exceptionally rough. If we almost fell out of our beds on deck two, the people up higher must have been rolling on the floor.

You will instantly become addicted to Disney cruises once you have been on one. I loved my recent Holland America cruise, which also went to St. Thomas, but I love the Disney cruises more.

Good Afternoon fellow cruise mates! I am going crazy here in Iowa! We got slammed again with another snowstorm!!! I can't take it any longer. Kathy

Kathy,

Better you than me!! ;) I'm up here in St. Paul, and once again the storms seem to be either going north to Duluth or south to you guys. We hit 40 for the first time in I don't know how long this weekend. People were out in shorts! :sad2: It's back to 20 degrees now. It sure felt cold today.

We got our documents today also. I think I have printed out everything that I need (confirmations for flights, hotel and car rental). And I have my packing list pretty well finished. I really like to get packed up the weekend before so I'm not going crazy the night before we leave. I did figure out why I couldn't print out my cruise contract, so I got that straightened out. Thanks, Nancy!

So I thought of something today. If I am shopping in St. Maarten, can I pay in US dollars? Will they give me back US dollars if I pay in US dollars, or will they give me back Dutch currency? Or should I just plan on using my Visa? I'm only planning on picking up some trinkets for souvenirs. I'm not planning any major purchases. Do I convert US cash to Dutch currency on the ship? Will the ship convert any Dutch currency back to US currency for me?

Thanks,
Carol

You can use dollars in St. Maarten. Don't know about change. Call your credit card company ahead of time to let them know you're going to be out of the country - you can use credit cards some places as well.

No excursions for us at all. Just relaxing and playing it by ear.

You're welcome! I'm glad you got the contract stuff done - one less thing to worry about, right?

We're doing the Catamaran on St. Maartin, the tram on St. Thomas, and parasailing on CC.

Does anyone else want to organize a meet later on in the week? So far we have the Friday 7:30 Radisson meet, the Saturday 11:00am in the terminal kids meet, the Saturday 3:00pm Scoops meet, and the Monday night 10:00 St. Patrick's Day meet.

We don't have excursions booked at all. The kids were not interested at all. So I think we going to go on our own. Planning to visit the Butterfly Farm at St. Tomas or St. Maarten. Anyone been there? Is one better then the other?

We just got our documents as well and getting very excited. Can't wait! we are from eastern Canada and got slammed with another big snow storm today. The whole island shut down......:scared:

Wow, bet you are so ready to see some warm weather! One of my favorite movies was the Anne of Green Gables series (I forget who produced them) and I think they were filmed on your island. It was so beautiful!

None of the excursions thrilled us at all, and with young kids, it's nice to just explore a little bit then we'll just enjoy the ship maybe. I do think that tram ride in St. Maarten sounds fun, but can't you just go and do that yourself? I looks like you get a beautiful view.

Since we're with friends (group of 8 total) I don't know if we'll make any meets.

How many guys are doing tuxes? We weren't going to originally, but it sounds fun now, and then you don't have to pack a suit.

I can relate to the 40 and wearing shorts! And to think when we were at WDW this past NYE week where we frooze when it the hit 29 for a low and upper 40's for a high that one day. Now, I'd be in shorts. I do like the name Minne-snow-ta, nothing goes with Iowa.

My husband Dave, adult son David, and girlfriend's son (7yr) will be in tuxes. We will have to do the formal picture. The women will be in black cocktail dresses.

Shopping in St. Maarten, credit cards for large purchases are fine, (I have made several jewelry pieces from their, prices were outstanding even compared to St. Thomas.) We use US cash for smaller purchases such as T-shirts, drinks or food. I think-- when we rent the wave runners by the beach that you can see from the ship, I think my husband uses cash.

All be prepared for the women walking up and down the beach wanting to sell you hats, beach bags, jewelry (not the gold but beads), beach cover-ups, and t-shirts. You will say no thank you so many times that you will sound like a broken record. There are bars with servers who come to your beach chairs at that beach. You rent the chairs, the people in charge will approach you so you don't even have to look for them.

That beach also has quite a little drop depending on the tide. It is about a 2' shelf so watch little ones close. My family loves to rent the wave runners and surf on the incoming waves. They did have a trampolene and our daughter did that one year--not so much fun because it spins.

Getting to downtown from the pier in St. Maarten is easy. You could rent a taxi but we take the water taxi, it was $5 a person for all day use. I have bought items, returned to the ship and dropped them off, then back to the beach. It is so easy to do a beach at this port of call.

Today's high, upper 20's if I remember correctly. At least the sun is out. I still need to contact the school and let them know we are pulling our daughter out for one day! I forgot that at conferences last week.

I have 2 weeks left before we wake up and we board the plane. Husband Dave surprised me, I knew he booked first class due to this trip being a celebration of college graduation, but I didn't know we were able to get 1st class out of Des Moines to the hub! He was lucky. Normally we have a regional jet, tiny but it gets us to the hubs. We fly Northwest to Detroit then down to Orlando.

Hi disneycrazy, I read the descriptions online for the butterfly farm on St. Thomas and the one on St. Maarten. From what I read, the one on St. Thomas is MUCH better. The one on St. Maarten is overpriced for what little there is of it.

We are doing the submarine ride, butterfly farm, and sky ride to the top of St. Thomas. If anyone hasn't been to any of the Islands in that area, it can been a lot cooler on the top of the Island than down by the ocean.

We are just going to get off the ship in St. Maarten and look around on foot.

I'm *so* glad people mentioned getting the documents over the last couple of days. I peeked outside in the rain last night... and found ours too.

I'm planning to fill them out on-line this weekend... but it's nice to know I've got the hardcopy stuff too.

Of course I wish we had new luggage tags again as well... but oh well (last one of the last set is on its last legs now).

Whimper... just over two weeks left... and suddenly we've got two rooms getting their floors replaced, all my homework... and work from my teaching job... oh, and replacing the dryer... which had to die just a few days after we set up the floor delivery. Ah, well... if it needed to be done, it needed to be done... but the credit card is *not* happy.

Oooh! Lucky you! Portholes for us this time - as planned. Wish it was the verandah we had last time, but we just couldn't justify spending and extra thousand or so just for a little area we would only use a limited amount of time. Ah well.

We've got the Eco Hike... St. Johns?? It's at the St. Thomas stop. And the semi-sub coral tour in St. Maartin (someone else mentioned they'd probably be doing that also.

We're waiting to see about the butterflies - but I've heard that doing a walk-up is same price, etc. so no rush. BTW, both "butterfly farms" are owned by the same people. What varies is what shape they are in after the most recent storms. You can't judge by what you read on the Internet - as most of the "not so great' comments I've read have been within a few months after a major hurricane hit - either or both islands. I've seen great comments about both as well.

Reminds me that I'm the one who is supposed to be researching getting milkweed seeds and plants for my one school - building a butterfly garden. Guess it's back to that website to get that one link again...:hippie:

Was just reminded (long about way, but....)

Anyone else planning to try to sign up for one of the "Family Tea Party" events? (Tea with Wendy or Alice, depending) DH isn't interested, but both DD9 and DS11 are.

LOL, DD can't believe how many 9 and 10 yo girls are "in" this group. She's kinda wishing she was a couple months older to join the larger of the two groups. She's a June b-day girl, and she's well aware that the groupings are 8-9 and 10-12. Ah well.

I was teasing DS that he'd have lots of girls to talk to this trip. He gave me a bit of a face... but after I commented that maybe he'd get lucky and one or two of them might be like one of his best friends... he said he'd rather it if he could send *her* an e-mail ... then changed his mind and now hopes/plans to send a postcard from each port-of-call. :-) Shame they don't go to the same school anymore - but the "three musketeers" are trying hard to stay in touch - even though the three of them all ended up at different middle schools after spending 5 years together in elementary (they were morning kindergarten, he was afternoon... but ever since first grade they've been more than happy to hang out together).

Hi everyone! I can't believe I'm joining a forum about my upcoming cruise but I am....

It's my 3rd time on a Disney Cruise, first time on a 7-day and first time on the Magic! I'm really excited. It's just me cruising with my boyfriend and I CANNOT WAIT!! (It's our second cruise together)

We live in Orlando so we'll be driving to the port the morning of the 15th after drop our dog off at the kennel (leaving her breaks my heart).

I've enjoyed reading some of the forum posts and helpful hints about cruising! I have a few questions though...

One is about BYOA (alochol). I am not a heavy drinker however on vacation I like to have a few drinks! I know from previous cruises not to buy into the "souvenir" glasses they serve pina coladas and such in but I recently found out that cruisers actually are allowed to bring alcohol onto the ship. Does anyone know where I can find out the details about this? I briefly googled it and saw that Disney doesn't prohibit it but I think it said that you have to "carry it on" and not check it. Does anyone know if this is true and how much you can bring on? I like to save money where possible.

Also, I'm really interested in the St. Maarten partial submarine coral reef tour I read about here. Where can I find more info on that? Sounds awesome!!

Otherwise I wanted to say hi!!

Welcome Aboard:)

This is my first Disney cruise but from what I gather you can bring drinks/alcohol on board in a soft sided cooler. We've got a wheeled collapsible cooler to use. You can't put ice in it, but your cabin steward will fill it with ice if you ask. If I'm wrong please correct me.

I just looked into my Passporter regardoing the "Tea with Wendy", as I was unsure about signing up for this. I guess you're given a ticket with "your" day for this. We may do this (DD and me) but it really depends on the day.

Now I decided to switch our Palo brunch reservation - we currently have it for my DD's birthday, and I decided that we want to do our big breakfast in bed that morning with the kids (we purchased the REAS). Anyone know how difficult that one will be? I guess since there are only 3 sea days, this one will be filled up quickly. We'll try to get to port pretty early (we're early birds anyway and staying at the Four Points in Cocoa Beach). I guess we'll head to the Rockin' D bar asap to change that.

Hello happymommy,
just few questions - The Palo reservation, is that just for adults or can you take kids there as well. Is that included in your cruise, or do you have to pay extra for it. This is our first time, so not very sure about all that. also silly quesiton, but what is REAS?

the tram ride is a short walk from the port.

We learned today that--we don't have transportation from to the port!!! Ouch, not what I needed to hear. We skipped DCL last year and we are paying the price for sure. TA called DCL because in past cruises we have always bought DCL transfers, used those to take luggage to port and we take other transportation. Well, this trip we have 6 and $69 x 6 is ($40 x 6) 420!!! Then hire other transportation? I wanted to just use DCL buses and be down with it. If we did that then we could check in for debarkation while on the ship. Husband said no because if one of us is tagged for no check in we still would have to go to MCO for check in. I liked the old way better. Oh well. We will be one the ship soon and yes, we had more snow today!

I finally found my clear shoe organizer to hang over the door. I've been looking around and couldn't find a clear one. I searched every -Mart I could find, dollar stores, drug stores - and couldn't fiind one. So I googled it tonight thinking maybe I could find one cheap online and who should pop up but Lowe's! And according to their website, they even have it in stock. I'll be driving over there this weekend. Hooray!
I never would have thought to look there.

Sounds like everyone's plans are coming together. :)

I got most of my clothes out, and returned a few of them. Those plastic bags you can buy for clothes that compress them are great. They look like large zip-lock bags. You put a pile of folded clothes in them, start rolling the bag from one end to the other, and the clothes are nicely compressed into a much smaller package. The air comes out of the bag. The clothes also don't get wrinkled. I made a pile of eight shirts look like four of them.

Welcome Pammy Jo. It will be nice meeting a neighbor. Look for the magnet with a large frog holding a ship it it's front legs. :thumbsup2

I didn't find green beads yet but I will have a green Disney polo shirt on as I arrive at the ship. The shirt you can buy at the online Disney store. My daughter and 8 year old grandson will be with me. We are staying in Cocoa Beach so we will only be a fifteen minute drive from the port. We leave just two weeks from today.

Was just reminded (long about way, but....)

Anyone else planning to try to sign up for one of the "Family Tea Party" events? (Tea with Wendy or Alice, depending) DH isn't interested, but both DD9 and DS11 are.

We're planning on doing it (me, DD5, DD10). I was surfing the board and came across the following hint:

One tip for that is: when you get on the ship go to Guest Services and ask "What's going on that I have to sign up for?" Then you can go ahead and reserve spots in any of the on-board activities that will be coming up during the week.

I'll probably send DH to get tickets, along with signing us up for the various "tastings" they offer, like Martini, wine, etc., right after we board.

LOL, DD can't believe how many 9 and 10 yo girls are "in" this group. She's kinda wishing she was a couple months older to join the larger of the two groups. She's a June b-day girl, and she's well aware that the groupings are 8-9 and 10-12. Ah well.

Yes, I think I counted about 19 10 - 12 year olds! Unbelievable! DD10 will have sign out privileges - anyone else giving their child sign in/out privileges?

Hi everyone! I can't believe I'm joining a forum about my upcoming cruise but I am....

It's my 3rd time on a Disney Cruise, first time on a 7-day and first time on the Magic! I'm really excited. It's just me cruising with my boyfriend and I CANNOT WAIT!! (It's our second cruise together)

Welcome PixyDusted! I'll add you and your BF on the list of cruisers on page 1.

also silly quesiton, but what is REAS?

Romantic Escape at Sea - we get a package in the room with chocolates, a frame, a free 8 x 10, robes, plus a bottle of wine in Palo, champagne breakfast in bed, and you get to reserve activities earlier, at 105 days. A couple of other minor things. I booked it long ago - about $350 plus. Maybe it's expensive, but we got the Palo night we wanted and decided to keep the brunch we wanted as well (our friends can't get a brunch reserved, and they tried the first day they could book it).

DD10 will have sign out privileges - anyone else giving their child sign in/out privileges?

I gave my kids sign in/out privileges, they're 11 and soon to be 9.

When we knew we were going on this cruise my mom, sister, and I got us all t-shirts with matching "tiki" Mickeys on them. The girl's shirts are pink and the boys are tan. There are nine of us.

My dd and I will probably be wearing green beads.

For those of you doing the tram ride in St. Thomas - are you doing this on your own or through DCL?

Also, is anyone planning on going to any of the tastings? The tequila/margarita one sounds good. Do these fill up fast?

My dd and I will probably be wearing green beads.

I just went to the 5 Below store and picked up another 20 beads for the kids meet - for a total for 40 strands. Hope that's enough - although I counted and it looks like there is around 20 10 - 12 year olds so far in our thread! I'm sure not all of the kids will show up for the meet, so we'll probably be fine.

For those of you doing the tram ride in St. Thomas - are you doing this on your own or through DCL?
We signed up for the tram excursion through DCL - it's slightly cheaper through Disney.

Also, is anyone planning on going to any of the tastings? The tequila/margarita one sounds good. Do these fill up fast?
I am, I am, I am. Someone else will be doing the driving! :drive:

I don't know how quickly it fills up - but once we board, I'm sending DH to the Rockin D to see if he can make change our Palo reservations, and then he's off to Guest Services to pick up tickets for Tea w/Wendy (Alice) and sign us up for tastings.

For those of you who have never been on a Disney cruise before, your family name is announced as you actually board the ship. You also have your pictures taken in front of a nice Disney cruise background display. It makes a great souvenir. All the pictures taken by the Disney photographers will be found in the photo gallery later. You have to search for your picture. I always think a picture is good if I look good in it. :)

Your cabin will not be ready until later in the afternoon so you will need to find a place to hang out. The crew does an amazing job of getting all of those cabins cleaned and ready in just a few hours. The halls are roped off to the public until the cabins are ready.

We always head up to the top for lunch. It starts to get busy up there so if you can, have a family member save a table while the others are getting their food. You have to take your carry-ons with you. Some people have swim suits in their carry-ons and head to the pools.

Also, another question. If we have Luminere's for dinner on a night that isn't a formal night do we still need to have the men wear jackets and ties? That could possibly mean that if we have Luminere's first we would have it 3 times as well as the other two night. My husband won't like that idea. It gets confusing.

On a 7 day cruise we don't dress any different in Luminere's than for the other restaurants. If it is a formal or semi-formal night we dress for the occasion no matter which restaurant we are in. We have had formal night in Parrot Cay--it just was strange but we dressed formal. Kathy

If you used a travel agent, remember to add at least a week or so onto the delivery time. If you didn't use an agent, it's probably time to call Disney.

We got ours on 2/29 (Friday). Our travel agent is in CA, so the documents have to go from FL to CA to VA - quite a commute for them! We filled out the documents on line, and are driving (no flights or Disney transportation), so the only thing we got in the package that we needed was the luggage tags.

Sorry, had to ask, since I grew up in St. Louis - where did you go to high school? Just had to ask, for me it was St. Joseph's Academy.

Anyway, I'd call asap. I transferred our reservation to Costco and got our documents via UPS last week. Since we're using Southwest Airlines and not using the transfers, the main thing was the "tickets" (? my first cruise) and the luggage tags.

If you didn't grow up in St. Louis, sorry, you won't get the joke, but everyone who did always asks where you went to high school. I have no idea why, and I moved away when I got married 15 years ago.

I pack a 26" size suitcase for each one of us plus one bag for the dress clothes. I also have one smaller size checked bag for toilitries. I protect the toilitries with a lot of bubblewrap. Each one of us will also carry on a backpack and I will have a small roller board for a few items. Hopefully in the smaller toilitries bag I will have room for my 3 diet tonic waters. I pack that by double bagging each bottle in ziplock bags then wrapping each bottle in bubblewrap. The small rollerboard will be for the items that are OK to bring onto the plan and the checked one will be for the liquid/gel etc. items that are typical bathroom supplies. If I am lucky maybe the dress clothes will fit in each of our own bags. Kathy

Both my kids will have sign in/out privileges to begin with, although DD9 says she won't want to use them (ok, so she's since said *maybe* to sign herself in sometimes)... and who knows whether or not DD11 will get to keep them (impulsivity ought to be his middle name... thinking? he's *very* smart, but doesn't always think first)

Calf length black dress, with jacket... I don't love it, but it'll do (arg! one more thing to do... hem the sleeves up an inch and fix the tacking job done on one lapel (it was pressed correctly, stitched incorrectly.. hangs oddly). Semi-formal. Don't know about shoes though... I can't wear heels anymore and my black flat-types don't *really* go with the dress... either pair (one's more casual... the other has a silly strap that worked well with another dress, but... maybe I'll get lucky - lately no-one has sold a black flat that fits my foot at *all*... silly arches)

Same thing semi-formal nights :-) DD9 has a formal and a couple ok for semi-formal night dresses.

11 DAYS :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

We're aiming at two large (one's a rolling duffle) and two small... I think just above *real* carry-on size (kids were just gifted them by grandma, so we're stuck with them rather than a third large/medium. And then carry-ons for each (activity bags for the kids, DH probably gets the overnight bag, and I get my computer and whatever else I put into that backpack carryon).

We might get away with less than that as I've pretty much decided to do a wash around Tuesday or so... we'll see... I'll decide for certain on Thursday night.

Hey Nancy, my husband has the flu also. That is exactly what I was thinking-get it now and not in 2 weeks!! Are you guys busy doing your packing AND getting Easter baskets ready for the day after we get back?? Paige:) :)

The flu is *everywhere* it seems. I know 3-4 adults who were diagnosed with the flu (rather than just "flu-like"). The kids and I got the shots/mist, DH always gives excuses so he didn't this year, unfortuately. I'm not sure how well mine took as I got the pneumonia shot in the same arm... and had a two+ month reaction to it (quite swollen for over a week over both shot areas)..... so who knows how my body picked up what or not. Fingers crossed...

And hoping that all who are ill recover well before the trip, and that no one is ill *during* the trip at all!

DS and I had the flu a month ago. Really sucked. DD just got over pinkeye. Has everyone been sick? Seems like it!

I'm probably wearing a knee length little raw silk black dress (sleeveless) for formal night. Very simple; looking for a little black wrap for it. It is getting late, so now I'm shopping in my own closet. I've owned this dress for 16 years! Yikes! DH is just doing a suit.

The kids can't use the clubs the first night from what I uderstand, right? Except for with the parents to check it out.

I'm wondering if when we board and I take the kids to the pool, will they have time for a quick shower before the sail away party, or before the first dinner seating? I'm not swimming, therefore I can go as I am! I'll bring dry clothes in the carry on for them. Has anyone done this? I like to rinse them off after swimming. Luckily we have two rooms, so they can be showering at the same time. So 30 minutes should be sufficient (even if DD's hair is damp who cares).

I've been shopping for the kids lately - why do they have to grow? I thought my DD could wear the same swimsuit size as last year - wrong! Got a few from Lands End for her, plus rashguards for them both.

Yeah - it's getting soon!

I will be wearing a black cocktail dress and dress sandles--no hose.

I checked the weather for St. Thomas on Weather.com (from the weather channel) highs for St. Thomas look like 80 to low 80's right now.

Weather in Orlando Friday will be low 80's.

It is too early to have Saturday pop up on the 10 forcast. I also check before I pack to make sure I have what I need incase the weather dips much cooler than it should.

Iowa had a beautiful weekend last weekend and we went downhill on Mon. It has been cold all week, snowy and icy. Spring can't get here soon enough.

My husband is doing much better. Tamiflu works wonders. The boys (except one)havent gotten it. They usually dont get most things that go around.Lets hope it stays that way. I havent decided what I will wear for those nights. I find the more I think and plan something the worse I look.:confused3 Basic black is easy and always works. Cant wait, Paige

I'm glad your husband caught it early enough to get Tamiflu. DH waiting a week before going to the doctor - too late for Tamiflu!

I haven't actually started packing yet. Not sure how many bags we will have. I think it's the shoes that are going to take up the most room.

Ahhh, shoes! DH made fun of me for taking 5 pairs of shoes - and then he realized he was taking 4!

In '06, you checked the kids in at port. They also implied that you couldn't leave the kids in the club on the first night - but loads of kids were being left there anyway. Anyone with more recent experience?

Ahh, that was the change when they went to checking in at the terminal. Our daughter was in the teen clubs by that time so we didn't have to use the kids programs. We didn't cruise on the Magic in '07 so I know some things have changed.

I haven't decided to take two cocktail dresses or just one. For all of the other nights I wear capris, or slacks but once in a while I will have a tropical skirt outfit I might bring.

I use to overpack so bad that when we returned home I had nice clothes that were not worn but still had to go to the cleaners just to remove wrinkles from the suitcase.

For shoes I will have a pair dress sandles, water shoes (teva flip flops for water) and two pairs of my birk grenada sandles plus the pair of shoes I will have to wear down because it is so cold up here in Iowa.

For all of you coming from the north, don't forget a travel home outfit. I did forget one trip! I had to find the pants I wore down and dig out the same socks I wore down. I was really angry with myself forgetting about the travel home clothes. Now I never forget them.

Kathy - that's why I always do laundry! It's cold here also. I'm so sick of it.

Update on formal night, I found a knit dress at Ann Taylor Loft, short black. It looks very dressy on, but folds up to almost nothing, and is machine washable! They had a lot of cute stuff there. There isn't much time for shopping not, so I need to start packing.

We do get a visit by the Easter Bunny, but this year it's tricky. I had to take care of some of that this week also.

A week and a day and we're flying down!

I was just out checking to see if by chance the Shuttle launch had already been delayed to a later date, and found that while the Shuttle launch isn't delayed, they moved up the Delta 2 Rocket launch. There is now a launch scheduled for 2:09 p.m. on Saturday 3/15.

The Stack always has a 411 (learn the rules, weeks activities, meet people, ect) on the first night at 10:00 or 10:30, can't remember which. Not sure what goes on with the younger clubs, but I believe that the 411's for those clubs are at around 9pm or earlier, haven't paid attention since I'm 17 and have no reason to be in them.

I'd be surprised if it happened - only because I don't remember seeing shuttle and another launch on the same day before (though who knows, since their schedule increased, they *might* be overlapping).

But a launch of any sort would be kinda cool... guess it's make sure we've eaten and are "upstairs" by 2pm :-)

I am afraid this information is incorrect. It is 2:09 in the morning (AM). And that description is of another launch; they copied off SpaceflightNow.com incorrectly. The March 15 launch is of the next Global Positioning System satellite, GPS 2R-19.

Kennedyspacecenter.com is not the site to check for launch dates; it is frequently wrong or out of date. Bookmark this one for keeping track of launches:

http://www.spaceflightnow.com/tracking/

If you are arriving the day before for your cruise though, I definitely recommend staying up and going over to the pier in Jetty Park for it.

Here is information on getting there if you need it:
http://www.launchphotography.com/Delta_2_Launch_Viewing.html

There is a quicktime video of a Delta 2 from the pier there to give you an idea (before it goes out of frame at least). Turn up your speakers.

Oh my, we got to see a satellite launch a couple of cruises back. It was amazing. I grew up watching the space program through the 60's so I was excited--I was shocked at how loud it was being so far away from the ship. The security was also huge.

Now I get to tell husband, there is another launch at 2:09 am.

I have no idea what I will wear on boarding day. I usually wear lime green something. The last DCL cruise I wore a lime green top and a tropical skirt with tan, pink and lime green printed flowers. I might do that again. I always wear a visor, usually a DCL visor.

Weather in Iowa is still nasty cold. No more snow but that can always change. Our driveway is the worst, pure ice and it is slanted a lot. You can't park a car on it right now because it will slide down the hill! Oh how I need some Florida sunshine and heat.

There won't be any traffic. He's right, it's the die hards and tourists who do actually know about it (GPS launches don't get much press other than on the local news).

If you want a good spot at the end of the pier, two hours. You can get there an hour before and still be ok.

Oh, you are right there. Three miles up the street from Best Western to the pier. Yea, you could go out onto the beach and see it. The Cocoa Beach pier is right outside your hotel as well, you could go out onto that. It's still a beautiful light show but it won't be that loud (mild rumble from there). Your hotel and the Cocoa Beach pier are 5.9 miles from the pad, whereas Jetty Park is 2.9.

Ben,

Thanks so much for the information. The last time we cruised (1988) there was a shuttle launch the morning that we were getting on the ship. It was the first shuttle launch after the (excuse my ignorance here) Challenger (?) exploded on lift off. Unfortunately, we were coming from Orlando and would have had to check out of the hotel at about 4:30 in the morning in order to get to Canaveral in time. We weren't feeling well, and the launch had already been delayed several days and we didn't make the trip. I've kind of always regretted it, but even looking back I probably wouldn't have done anything differently. Depending on how awake we are, we'll either drive to Jetty Park, or just take it in from the hotel. I hope it goes as scheduled. I'd love to see a launch.

Thanks again for the information. I'll print off the information from your web site so we are prepared for whatever we decide to do.

You're welcome. If you have more questions please ask.

Not to stray off topic, but yes that would have been Sept. 29, 1988 (STS-26) the first flight after Challenger. It was not scrubbed at all (nicely for viewers); Sept. 29 was the date for a while beforehand and it went on time. It was one of the bigger launch crowds there has ever been.

Then it must have been a subsequent launch. We were there in late November. I know that one was postponed at least a couple days, because we would wake up in the morning and check the news to see if it was a go. If it would have gone the first two mornings we would have tried to make it. But since it went the morning we had to check out, we just didn't make it.

Yeah, the problem is you won't see green grass until mid-April! :rotfl: We've given up on keeping the sidewalk clear. The melting created a giant ice floe on the sidewalk, and now the new snow is covering it up! We have a north facing driveway and both DH and I are anal about keeping that clear. So it's in pretty good shape. Any visitors have to come in through the garage now!

I somehow keep telling the checkout people at the store (or anyone else who will listen) WHY I'm buying spring clothes!

I'll put the kids in swimsuits and something cute over top to cover up when we board - I think they'll like checking out the pool.

I'll probably be in a skirt or capris - depends on the weather. I don't want to change for dinner the first night. I have a little 3/4 sleeve denim jacket from Talbots I'll probably have on - might it be a tad cool in Port Canaveral? I remember last March was a bit cool at WDW. I had worn little cardigans a few times last year.

Just got DD a Pooh tee shirt and DS a Pirates one at the Disney Store - only $5 each. Plus a little Pooh expanding washcloth for DD (she loves Pooh). Putting them in their special surprise beach backpacks I got on clearance from Lands End for only $15 (don't you love a bargain?). Was going to do a gift basket from Shirley (which do look awsome) but I wanted to do it myself, so I can make it really personal. I'm filling the backpacks with movie candy, little Disney notepads and pencils, and stuff. Anything consumable - I don't want any extra stuff coming home! Except I'm still looking for a Pooh plush that I like, or I'll look on the ship.

Can't believe it's a week until we fly down!

It was 16 out this morning with snow. What a dirty four letter word!!! It is predicted to be 50 by Tuesday. Yeah, I will believe that when I feel 50 degrees outside myself. I need to start checking Florida weather again. It seems like when we get hit hard with cold temps Florida's weather also goes down hill.

My new washer was installed Monday. When the guys installed it they were cranky due to the snow storm. The head guy had trouble with the hose ends, my house has a plastic box that is in the wall and the faucets are in the box. The new washer hose ends had these plastic connecters that had had large ribs so the hand had something to hang onto when fastening the hose to the faucet. Well, my box wouldn't allow that to happen. The man looked at me and said he just didn't like my brand of machine and nothing in this country is standardized and Bosch always sends this type of hoses. He thought we needed different hoses. I told him it was a good thing Lowe's was close, just run back to his store, get the hoses and install the washer. His reply "No, you go get the hoses and you install the machine we are leaving."

WELL, nobody told this man you don't mess with a woman getting ready to go on a cruise and her washer that was suppose to be installed wouldn't be even though we paid for it to be installed.

I told the guy, "you either install my washer or you put it back on your truck and reinstall the one you just took out. I will go to Lowe's and get my money back."

He decided to give it another try. He cut the ribs off.

Again don't mess with women getting ready to pack for a cruise. I was under enough stress with the washer going out right before the cruise. I came home once with a washer that lost its motor! That was back in the days when all the kids were home so laundry for 6 from a 7 day cruise.

All is well now but if we could only get rid of the snow.

I did read that post Paige. I hope the person from Florida who posted a response is correct, when weather in Florida is bad there seems to always be bad currents in the ocean. I am hoping weather in Florida will be wonderful during our cruise and the nasty currents will be calm.

I know our weather is starting to improve, we are in the 20's today and the temps just keep going up and I read that Tuesday IA will have 50's! Our driveway should be clear of ice when we return home. I need to check Florida weather, it should also improve.

Tonight I start packing! Kathy

Kathy, that was me who posted that. :-)

The weather was TERRIBLE 2 days ago (during night-time really) then today it was VERY windy. I'm guessing this won't happen 2 weekends in a row.

I'll keep you posted on the weather in Orlando!

I bought an XL Pirate costume on Ebay. Neither my husband nor my son will wear it. Here is the description:
Brand new never-been worn Pirate Buccanneer Bounty XL Costume from Smiffy's (26094)

Very comfortable pirate costume - very good seller this last Halloween season
Includes top, pants, waistcoat, headpiece
Size XL
Does NOT include eyepatch, wig or sword
This costume retails for $43.99 in our store
If anybody wants this costume for Pirate night let me know. I paid $28 for it. I will sell for $20. If nobody wants it for the cruise I will resell it on Ebay. I will send you the link to the auction if you send me your email address. LizG

March Madness--Actually Tourny finals will be Sat and Sun (3/15 and 3/16), Selecetion Sunday (3/16) and First Round games start Thursday-Friday (3/20 and 3/21), so I will be at the big screen outside every night with a beer(s)...feeling a little guilty spending $$$ for a cruise, but watching basketball. Oh well, at least can say I did under the Caribbean sky. Maybe even a rocket will fly by during a commercial break!

No guilt here. I am hoping that some of the conference tournaments which end on Sat and Sun will be shown on the big screen during the day (doubtful though.) I know the 1st game of the NCAA's will be Wed (the play in game between the 64 & 65 teams). May have to catch some of the games at the sports lounge if they are not shown on the big screen. Go Bruins....

No offense, but I don't wish to see sports on the Dumbotron! I'd understand if it were the world series or something, but college sports? I think the kids would all rather see the Disney movies!

I hope we make it to CC - feel bad for the previous week's cruise! At least I hope we have calm weather!

Not too worry. The big screen only shows "sports" when there are no children on the pool deck, which usually happens in the late evenings...

Haha, thanks! It's nicer today....less windy and it's getting a bit warmer though I wore a fleece sweater to work (partially because it's a little chilly out, partially because if it's cool at all here it's an excuse to wear my winter wardrobe!). It'll definitely be warmer in the Caribbean though! My friend just got back from Miami/Ft. Lauderdale today and said it was in the 90s!

So formal night's the second evening? Fun!! I guess it will just set the bar high and allow me to wear dresses every night! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Well, I just checked Weather.com, the weather Thursday and Friday look nice and warm! Low Thursday 60 and the high Friday 80. Saturday's high is 84. I hope it stays that way. Weather in Iowa is getting better each day. Yesterday was above 32! Today upper 30's. My husband told me by the midweek the are predicting 56!!! That is a heatwave for here this year.

Crunch time cruisers. We should all be gathering any last minute items either for the cruise or what ever we need for our homes to prepare for the trip. I have to go buy dog food today and restock my Pug's meds.

Wow - that is such a bonus! I was planning on maybe being in capris and a (kind of cute) jean jacket for the sail away. Maybe just a tee shirt and a skirt! See, I don't want to change for dinner, and so want to be comfortable but decent. Boy, if these are my biggest decisions and problems this week, life is good!

I'm thinking about a manicure Sunday morning. Anyone know from experience if this is hard to get booked? My hands look awful, but if I get one here, by Sunday they'll be chipped (although I only do very natural look).

Nancy - what's DIStag? I'm new to all this!

cozit is organizing this for us, and here's the info on it she posted earlier:

One thing that my kids had fun with their last cruise (and I'll admit I had fun as well) was "playing" DIStag. They were 6 and 8 during the cruise. And we had so many rooms/DIS-folks playing that there were two Mickey-shaped magnets in play the whole time... and I still think I only saw each once on my door... might have been twice for one of them.

To make it "more interesting", the only clues that we gave each other were the level we were staying on, connected with our name that we'd add to the magnet as it moved around (to help us all be included). Everyone who played had to decorate their door with something that would clue the other players into who was there (otherwise, without room numbers, there'd be no way to find people to include them :-) When the DIStag magnet showed up at your door, you were to write your name on it and then take it to another player's door and leave it for them to find, and pass on. The room to have it when they woke up the last morning was the room that got to keep it. I believe we made sure that the couple that got married on CC that trip just "happened" to have them both at that point :-)

Oh, and if you don't want to mark the room with a name, even a login name, you could always include a note that you'll have a "whatever" on your door... though make sure it's not something someone not playing has - or they'll get very confused some day on the trip :-)

The fun isn't getting it in the end, it's looking for and finding the surprise... and for kids who like to explore, it's also exploring the ship while looking for other door decorations (and yes, I was smart enough to note where the other rooms were on our travels, to make some of the deliveries faster :-)

BTW, decorating your door is a good thing. There may not be *that* many doors on the ship, but with them all being along similar, long corridors, decorations, even simple ones, really help you not pass your room on the way to it :-)

If you'd like to join us, I'd be happy to add your information to the list. Just pm me with your deck number and some identifiable feature of your door magnets.

I don't advise manicures on a ship. I had one once, it was a Steiner Spa and it was terrible and over priced. I would suggest you get one at home before you leave for the cruise. Now, I did enjoy the massage (sp? it has been a long day so far- could use one now:) ) It was pricey but it felt wonderful. I may spring for one this trip.

Still debating the manicure. I don't know if I want to waste (?) an hour onboard on Sunday getting one, but if I get one Thursday, I'll ruin it packing (I am packing that day). I may just skip the whole thing - being a mom and all the handwashing, well you know!

I found some green beads and will be wearing a green, polo style, Disney shirt. My daughter, who is 39 (looks ten years younger), and my grandson, 8 years old, will have the beads on too.

Hope to see some of you in the terminal. We met up with a lot of wonderful people from this site on our last Disney cruise. Once you recognize people, you will run into them all over the ship. :)

Hmm... wonder if you got our room :-)

We got a call today as well. And an upgrade from 8 to 5!!!! Whole family is doing happy dances about the verandah :-)

We're still on deck 7 and forward, but now we're back further - between the forward and midship elevators, rather than forward of the forward elevators.

As far as Southwest goes... they *should* have done it earlier... and I'm glad they've been fined. I'm also glad they have to do these inspections *now* rather than after the trip... or the day before the trip. It's a specific area that is being inspected, and my guess is that by the time Friday afternoon rolls around they'll have finished... or at least close. Now whether it overfills the planes more or whatever...

I've got two alarms set for times approaching our flight time tomorrow evening... so that we can try *very* hard to do our boarding pass on-line and maybe even get lucky and get A boarding.

Meanwhile... no, I haven't finished packing - that's tomorrow's job for me (among many others). But both kids and DH have preliminary packing done... so just have to double-check tomorrow. Went out and bought DS a "dress shirt" (don't like the material, but...) have to wash it tonight/tomorrow morning so it gets packed with the suit.

Way, way, way too much to do still... and way, way, way, way too little time to get it done.

We've got plans to meet up with folks before boarding, and for icecream (assuming boarding is early enough that we get ourselves fed in time to get up there!)

Same here - almost done with my packing. Only one pair of shorts! Slacks, 3 dresses, 3 bikinis (oh my god I have gained weight also, yuck), cover ups, tops, don't know what else. Oh yeah, pj's and stuff.

I think we have 3 larger suitcases, all checked, 2 smaller ones (could carry on, but checking) for the kids, plus smaller carry on bags for all of us. Gosh it's a LOT more than we ever travel with! When DH and I went to the Caribbean last summer, we only took one carry on each, and still didn't need it all! I never check luggage! I am always afraid of never seeing it again, but we're flying direct, so hopefully it'll be fine.

So... have a good flight/drive everyone, safe travels, and see some of you onboard I'm sure!

We are almost done packing, or I hope so. Im letting my mom do most it while i tangle with making sure cameras, iPod's, PSP, other electronics are charged/charging.

I will be a little rebel on Saturday and be wearing a orange Halloween shirt in evening.

Not sure if me and my mom will be at the terminal meet, we plan on getting there about noon or so and walking right on, with no waiting around. I believe she plans on trying to go to at least one of the meets(not sure if I will be able to draw my self away from the stack long enough, unless there is a basketball game on).

Hope everyone's trip to port is uneventful. See you all soon!

Well, I don't know if you guys have heard or not, but they changed the dining rotations on the Western cruise right before you guys. Everyone on the main board is going nuts trying to figure out what the new rotations are so we can have our Palo's ressies straight etc...

When you guys get back, can you post what menus were featured each night, and what your rotations were? We're all in a panic now.

Thanks, guys. Hope you had a great time.

Welcome back everyone! I am SO EXHAUSTED I can't even think straight. That 6:45am breakfast this morning really wore us out. And we only had an hour drive back to Orlando. I cannot imagine how tired someone of you (most I'm sure) that had to FLY after are!

I was at Diversions on Monday night at 10pm and didn't see anyone there so we left. Did anyone else go?

I am one lucky girl - my boyfriend proposed to me at Sunday's 6:15pm Golden Mickey's. Did anyone see? I have to say I think it was a better show for those in the theater than it was for us. Jason planned and planned and planned for it and, by no fault of his own, it didn't exactly go according to plan. That's okay - we had a lovely dinner at Palo after and I went back to a wonderful surprise of roses, rose petals, and towel swans on the bed of our room after dinner!

I posted a thread here asking if anyone taped Sunday's pre-show. They stream a live feed into the audience of the Golden Mickey's "red carpet" pre-show but don't record it. So as you can imagine I was upset to find that out!

Please please please check out this thread! Thank you!!!

Mozart,
We started out at Parrot Cay, then Lumiere's, then Animator's Palate. The formal dinner was Sunday for our cruise. We had PLAPLAP. We had the last seating of the late dinner seating (8:30).

We had the best time. There were so many great memories made. We got to visit every port and we had great weather. We had very rough seas for about a day and a half. My dd and ds did get seasick:sick:  , but it did not last long:banana: . I'll write more later, but I really need to sleep. We just got home about 30 minutes ago.

Oh!! That was you! Congratulations!

That was the one show we missed (I had a cold, and the kids and DH weren't excited about it that night).... but I did pass by your door frequently during the trip as you were just down the hall from us. I loved the changing Mickey at the top of your whiteboard. I was hoping that someone might have seen the plea and helped you out before the end of the cruise :-(

Good luck with the search for video!

I'm allergic to cigarette smoke, so Diversions is out *any* time of the day for me (those on the crew who told me that the smoke went away overnight as no one had been in there for hours before the morning events in there were gently but firmly corrected by me... it's an allergy that really stinks to have (the only one that can definitely trigger an asthmatic reaction so far, btw)...

I was also trying to get rid of the cold I found on board that day :-( (hey, I had fun anyway - just more sleep and less activities than I'd hoped for... and *far* less work than I *needed* to get done)

I hear ya! I HATE cigarette smoke or the smell of it. I actually didn't even realize you could smoke in Diversions though. It didn't smell at all to me. What DID smell was the Cove Cafe area. Seemed to be the place to hang out if you were a smokers, which was unfortunate for us because we're not. So we didn't enjoy that area as much as I wished we did. I did get a Mochachino as was recommended on the DIS boards and it was YUMMY!!! Worth the calories and the money! Did I say YUM?

And Liz, I'm glad you saw our door! I was proud of it. LOL. I brought my "supplies" (fun foam, scissors and glitter glue) on the ship so that's why we were able to get the "just engaged" piece on the door. Funny short story - I made that Sunday evening and was letting it dry on the "desk" in the room. Jason decided to lay out his ties on the desk before we went to bed. I didn't know until the morning when I went to get the now-hopefully-dry glitter-glued Mickey ears - which weren't dry...Jason laid his ties out DIRECTLY on the glitter glue! So of course we spent a good amount of time picked the glitter glue off his 2 ties.

Thank you for the congrats on our engagment! Yup, it was me - a DISer! Not like my name is so common - there was probably only 1 Mikkel on the ship! :rotfl: I haven't had any luck on anyone video taping it. I'm still hoping someone turns up sometime in my life that did. :rotfl2: A girl can dream! We enjoyed a nice dinner at Palo after he proposed and then we returned to the room (this was my favorite part) and I was shocked to find red roses, red rose petals on the bed in the shape of a heart, 3 "towel swans", a bottle of champagne, a cheese platter and chocolate-covered strawberries! It was so romantic and I completely wasn't expecting it.

We have great photos from everything despite not having video!

I got a little "seasick" that terrible night (Wednesday?) but no vomiting. Just VERY dizzy. I actually think I was better off around the ship because when we went to our room to lay down it seemed worse. It was VERY noticeable that it effected a ton of people though - the shows were all half full, at best!

Liz - sorry to hear you got a cold! My DS got bronchitis, spent part of Thursday at the medical center getting nebulizer treatments (his asthma got very bad) and I took him to CC for only about a couple of hours. It was windy anyway, but good to get him a bit of fresh air. I'm getting an xray for him today to double check it's not pneumonia. Of course he's running around like mad, typical boy, but coughing up a storm.

The doctor and nurses were so nice there!

It was so nice to meet you - sorry it was the end of the cruise. We were so busy with my DH's friends we didn't really meet too many other folks.

Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet you.

Here it is Monday and I'm STILL tired! :lmao: We drove home on Saturday and arrived around 11pm.

We skipped the 6:45 breakfast to sleep in a little. We left our room at 7:45 and saw that they hadn't started letting people off yet. Last cruise, we waltzed off at 8:00 and cruised through customs to get on the road by 8:30. So we turned around and headed for Topsiders (it was packed!) We had breakfast and went downstairs to get off the boat. They let us out to the gangplank (term??) and we waited there for a while. Cast members told us that customs hadn't cleared the boat yet. Anyway, it was really chaotic that morning - to say the least - and we didn't get on the road until 9:30. After a stop at the Disney outlet in St. Augustine, we got home at 11PM.

I was at Diversions on Monday night at 10pm and didn't see anyone there so we left. Did anyone else go?

I didn't make it, but I heard carolmp & lizg were both there.

I am one lucky girl - my boyfriend proposed to me at Sunday's 6:15pm Golden Mickey's. Did anyone see? I have to say I think it was a better show for those in the theater than it was for us. That's okay - we had a lovely dinner at Palo after and I went back to a wonderful surprise of roses, rose petals, and towel swans on the bed of our room after dinner!

Congratulations! We had early dining and late shows so we didn't see it.

Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet you either! Wow - hope your DS gets cleared today and it's not pneumonia.

Sounds like you skipped the parasailing on CC. DD10 decided at the last minute that she wanted to go, so I gave her my reservation. DH & DD were among the first dozen off the boat on Friday (around 11:15 or so) and raced to Marge's Barges. They took the first 10 to sign in out - regardless of the reservation times. (a lady showed up and was very upset not to be on the first boat since she had an early reservation - she got on the second boat about 10 minutes later) Anyway, they tried to go up at their normal place but it was too windy. Tried again behind the island across from the beach - too windy. Wound up going to the adult beach and made everyone tandem ride because of the wind. DH was happy to get an extended boat ride out of that ;) I heard they canceled the parasailing not long after that because of the wind....

I have to say that Palo's was everything it is cracked up to be. We had Dinner and Brunch and they were both absolutely wonderful. We had Corinne as our server she was very fun!

We also had a great waitstaff. Ramam was our server and our asst was Micklos. They were AWESOME!!!!!!!!

I was so glad to meet some of you from this board. It sure made the trip more interesting. I do believe that this trip was Magical and loved every minute of it. Hope everyone got home safely. We had an uneventful trip home. Now the work begins cleaning up the basement from the 2 inch flood we had last week when we were gone. Our older son took care of lots of it but we have the details to finish. I am dreaming of next cruise, even though I don't know if or when it will be.

Best wishes to everyone here. Take care and see you in my Disney Dreams!

We all had a magical time on the cruise. :wizard: It was so nice meeting some of you and especially meeting wonderful Liz and family. It seemed everywhere we went around the ship, I would turn around and there was Liz.:yay:

My daughter made a slide show of our trip. I'm going to post the link here and hope it works. She is a good photographer. Seeing them, some of you we didn't meet in person, might recognize us. Especially since we all three dressed up for pirate night. pirate: Hope you enjoy them.

One of the days, when the ship was rolling with the waves, we met a woman who was getting seasick. She saw my daughter was wearing blue cloth wrist bands. My daughter told her what they were and suggested she buy them. The next day we met her again and the woman was ready to hug my daughter. :) She had them on and did not get sick.

I had to laugh at myself on the last day. My voice sounded just like Minnie Mouse. All I could do was squeak out my words. I literally could not speak normally as hard as I tried. It was really funny when my sister introduced me to some friends after the cruise. I squeaked out my hellos. :rotfl2: It's back to normal now.

Here are the pictures.

Gail your pictures are wonderful. We wanted to go to a butterfly farm but there wasn't time - Maybe next time!

We were so lucky with our weather weren't we? It was kind of hard coming back to weather in the 30's.

I was amazed that even though the ship was full, it didn't seem crowded to me. Occasionally near the dining rooms and in the main lobby it got busy - not too bad.

We are already sharing memories and laughs from our trip. We had such a good time.

Hi Lisa, the butterfly farm was a short walk from the ship. It was beautiful. We went to one on another Disney cruise but the wind was so strong, the butterflies were stuck on the nets. This time they were flying all around us.

Since I am older than most of you, never could swim very well, like being on the beach more than being in the water, and would probably end up drowning while snorkeling  , I only waded in up to my knees. I absolutely love looking at the colors of the ocean.

Awww! And here Eliana and I were hoping you had it, as yours was the only room we *didn't* go past on that rocky Wednesday night (um... I *did* say I did a lot of walking, and that it was rather amusing to play with gravity that night, yes?) We walked around all but the bottom 3 (I think) floors, looking to see what had happened to the magnet, but never did see it.

I put it out the first night - wish I could remember who, but I do know it was someone forward on one level or another... and it did disappear from that door by Wednesday (double-checked)...

Ah, well... we tried.

(and yes, life is nuts here - I've got less than a week to finish all the grad school stuff - including that which I should have done on this ship but was first too ill, then too tired... and I *couldn't* use the computer on the rocky days - didn't make me ill (Dramamine less drowsy is my bestest friend)... but I just *couldn't* focus on it when the computer went one way and I was going another, y'know? A book sure - a computer, nope, no way)

We all had a magical time on the cruise. :wizard: It was so nice meeting some of you and especially meeting wonderful Liz and family. It seemed everywhere we went around the ship, I would turn around and there was Liz.:yay:

LOL and here I was thinking that I was the only one who kept running into her every time I turned around :-)

I did look for you on the semi-sub trip - but apparently we ended up with different times :-(

Nice pictures, btw!

- The other Liz :-)

Well, I think I may have been the last one to pass it on. If I remember right, I put it on Julie T's door. It was Deck 6 and there were two rooms that had the pictures described on the first page of this thread. I covered a lot of Deck 6 that evening, because it was a room on the exact opposite side from where I started. I think I walked the entire (or most) of the deck.

I didn't think to go back to see if it moved on. That was my fault. I should have done that.

I spent so much time on this board prior to the cruise, that now I'm not sure what to do with myself! Is that pathetic, or what? It's freed up some time at home, but I spend my lunch hour aimlessly surfing the news websites because I don't know what else to look at.

We had a great time too. Did anyone re-book while on board? We decided not to. While we had a great time, there are other places we want to see. We figured another cruise would be at least 5 years out.
