We leave in 37 days.

It just occurred to me that somehow, sometime, in the midst of craziness,

we have to pack and leave for WDW!!!!!

When and how do you start packing?

I start about a month in advance. Putting all the ponchos, mole-skin, band-aids, travel size necessities in a suitcase. When our DD was small I would get her things together first. Now (we leave in 10 days) I already have my items washed, ironed and set in a suitcase ( I find that rolling the clothes helps with less wrinkles, and is more space-efficient) Got the ADR's, confirmations all out tonight. Money set aside for the trip and sitting here on the DIS boards checking on last-minute things. The planning and packing is just part of the enjoyment of anticipating the day when we can say "We're coming Home" Enjoy :thumbsup2

I just notice that we haven't started our pre packing yet. Do we still have time? :lmao:

I'm worried that we won't. :rotfl:

If all else fails, we can buy a toothbrush when we get there.

Thanks, bluedoggy for the tips. Looks like you are are set for a great time!

I'm starting to think this board is really an OCD support group. We plan our trips down t the tiniest detail months in advance and start packing a month ahead. Good Lord!

I don't pack clothes andsuch until the night before. Of course, I'm usually running around like a loon so maybe I should take a chapter from your book.

well i start making lists a few days before hand then i start packing within 24 hours of leaving. of course in my case usually the clothes that i pack i clothes that i end up wearing a few days before hand. i'm not trying to offend anyone here, but i jsut can't imagine packing that far in advance, but i'm such a procrastinator that it's not even funny!! :rolleyes1 but oh well since i leave tomorrow maybe i should do some laundry! haha, well as long as i remember my ticket i won't care about what i forgot!!!!!!! enjoy your trip!!! :sunny:

Call me OCD because I will most likely start packing this weekend and we're not leaving for 36 days :rotfl2:

Me too!

Where are you staying?

We are staying at All Star Music on the 9th.
Then we're moving to Board Walk for the rest of the stay.
I think we depart Orlando on the 15th?

Needing to find a spot or closet or something to start tossing things in...like the shorts and swimsuits I just took out of the kids drawers to make room for the fall stuff.

Okay - you can diagnose with OCD!

We leave next Friday, and I am packed, except for toiletries.

The trip is a surprise for the kids, so I have to pack while they are at school. Also, I live in the Northeast, so we have already put away the summer clothes. So instead of putting them away, I put them into suitcases. It keeps me from being crazy at the last minute. I still will be crazy for some reason, but it won't be packing!

DH, on the other hand, won't start packing until the night before. And then I will have to convince him that we don't have to take everything we own with us. I want 1 suitcase for each of us, + 1 extra.

Now if I could just get the house clean! That's not nearly as fun as packing!

I'm pretty much a last minute packer, though I will be sure to hit the trial size aisle at the grocery store and pick up stuff for the trip. I suggest making a list of everything you think you'll need. Surely, if you are like me, you'll overpack. Our last trip I had way too much! I'll try to tone it down this go around!!

:lmao: I'm a last minute packer myself. It's all good! If I forget something, there's always a Wal-Mart nearby.

I have a disney bag that is never unpacked! Has ponchos, drug store stuff, clips, moleskin etc. That way I'm always ready just in case WDW calls, then all I need to do is throw in the underwear and I'm Ready!!!!

LOL!!!!! :rotfl2:

My DH announced this morning that I need to start packing for our trip!

We have 35 more days. Time is ticking. Where is a panic smiley?

I told him we were already discussing that very topic on DIS.

He was so proud that he volunteered to clear a space this weekend for our packing project.

OMG, I found my mothership. Usually, a long ways out, I start putting things we will need on the guest room bed. And I just add to it daily. But like Anastasia B. (I added the B. but I didn't think spelling it out would be appropriate :) ), our trip this time is a surprise so I cannot do that. So the 'pile' is kind of moved. Maybe I will start packing today. I will just have to hide it.

I start to collect things in a laundry basket a couple weeks before I leave, but the actual packing is done the night before.

OMG, I found my mothership.

Would this be an awesome tag or what?

Too bad I'm not the Tag Fairy....where is she anyway?

I don't feel so bad now...
I have a box in the basement labelled "Disney Box". So far it has sunscreen, ponchos a little light, a puzzle book and some stickers in it. I also have a page long list of what to bring that I have made from posts on the DIS.

... and we aren't going until February!

We leave for Disney two weeks from this moment. I also live in the Northeast, so, last weekend, I also put all the kids summer clothes away, except that I packed everything they will need for the trip! I have not packed my clothes yet, as I have this fantasy that in the next two weeks I will lose enough weight to get into the next size down clothes :rotfl2: I have all of the Disney stuff (airline tix printout, car reservation printout, DVC confirmation, ADR list, park passes) and each day I want to put them into the plastic zippered folder that I will use to transport them (the sacred documents) to Disney World. But, until I read this thread, I thought I was insane to do that before the night before. And, if I do it too soon, what will I do each day between now and the 17th when we leave? (Other than work full-time and take care of my DH, DD7 and DS9) I've lost my mind...totally. :upsidedow

We got back 2 weeks ago and I didn't totally unpack. I left panchos, moleskin and other things I only use at Disney in a suitcase that only goes to Disney. Oh yeah - we leave in 14 months. :rotfl2:

Fully agreed! BUT I'm so excited to go and have nothing better to do that I really want to pack soon. 20-something days left!
