Wow, let's hope it's true -- for the wand and the hat, both! It's hard to say which is more execreble.

Or how about a Jack Sparrow hat? pirate:

Too bad it won't be down this year when we go...I don't really like it very much.
Also the hat in MGM seems out of place.

As long as they don't take down the Epcot sign. Sometimes I'm walking around that park and I can't tell what park I'm in. It helps to have that big sign there to remind me. Magic!

Hopefully, they put tall signs up in the other three parks as well. How else can we know where we are? Like the one with that castle. It would be so much easier if there was a big sign on it that said "DisneyWorld". And the "hat" park. Universal Studios, I think its called? Then the tree one. Some kind of zoo thing. They should definitely put a sign on that tree.

We've heard that engineers have been assigned to the Spaceship Earth wand at Epcot to assess what is the most practical way of removing the icon in 2007

So either they never considered taking the wand down in the first place or never planned HOW they were going to do it?

Unless there is a fastener problem, don't you do it in reverse ?????

why would they want to anyway??:teeth:

There is internal fighting about the wand because it makes spaceship earth the tallest icon of all the parks.

The hat will not come down until the great movie ride facade is changed because Disney doesnt have rights to the theatre's likeness any more.

I didn't make any of that up... I got it from a decent source of cast members. then again after hearing some of the stuff I have heard cast members say, i don't believe much of it! but this is what cast members working in those two parks think (at least some of them)

I'm not even sure that any sort of license was required from Grumman's/Mann's Chinese Theater, but certainly if Disney got such a license it would have been for a lengthy term, if not perpetual.

Not only that, but wouldn't if be a strange agreement if it said they could only continue to use the likeness if they put a BAH in front of it?

I can think of a few places to stick the hat.

Well, if it were to go UNDER the waters surface, only the fish would be adversely affected..........the turtles could climb on the rocks to escape the horror.

I was thinking about getting some use out of it. Put in a bed and portapotty and it can be used for executive bonuses for those who come up with those lame brain ideas like putting a hat in MGM.

Oh, and their stay has to be timed to when they shoot off fireworks from the island.

Not to mention the Brain eating aomeba. Single celled life forms of death shouldn't be tortured like that.

You're not the only one unfortunatly.

Epcot did just fine without that infernal wand for most of it's existence. Nobody needs to be reminded where they are and the "Disney" touch essentially ruins the entire theme of Epcot.

True! I never really looked at it that way. I guess it just doesn't really bother me.

I think it was an absolute desperate attempt to create an icon for the park. The water tower wasn't central, the theatre wasn't big enough... It's sad that while the other parks are able to put attractions in their centerpiece, MGM's is a shop.

How about removing the wand and then attaching it to a gigantic Tinkerbell shaped helicopter that could periodically encircle the castle at Magic Kingdom and scare the daylights out of all those not in on the secret. The wand could shoot fireworks out of the tip and make quite a show. It would be a way to recycle the wand, however I don't know how much that giant Tink helicopter might cost. Well, they could use it for corporate transportation and recoup some of the cost that way. Just a deluded thought. :rotfl2:

i'd say about 90+% of the shots of spaceship earth are wandless...

Actually, when they put those videos together, they use a lot of old shots. Another cost saver, I guess, not filming new stuff. You know, using "stock" footage. I doubt it has any other meaning.....
