So you don't have to talk to yourself anymore.......... :rotfl2:

We are booked on this cruise too! We just got off the Eastern 2 weeks ago and booked this on board.

We are also in a SPH so we will be neighbors too. We have 3 kids, DD turning 15 on this cruise, DS 13, and DS 9........those ages are at the time of the cruise. We also travel with NaNa and PaPa.

Have a great day.

Thank you, I thought it would be some time before I'd get a response being it's 14 mo before we cruise. I see our boys are about the same age, maybe some time they could exchange email adresses and get to know each other.

I see your from Ohio, my father was from Ohio, in the Washington Courthouse-Piketon area.

Yes, I noticed that about the boys ages too. Is your 13y.o. 13 at cruise time? Mine is in the 6th grade now.

We are in Central Ohio. In Westerville, suburb of Columbus.

Our neighbors called tonight and are probably going to join us as well. They are a family of 5, but the kids are smaller than ours.

We actually just did an eastern but chose it again because we already have 2 days off school for this cruise.

Tired of talking to yourself yet?! We were on the 12/2 Western and rebooked for this cruise. A little over a year to go!!

Still have a few minor concerns about cruising this time of the year - most notably travel to/from the NE & cold/flu season. We have time to think about it though.

Look forward to chatting with fellow cruisers over the next year!

A VOICE, I HEAR A VOICE!!:cheer2: Welcome fellow cruiser. Yep, just about a year to go and it will go by quick. We cruised at this time last year and had some of the same worries about illness too, but I was more worried about weather at that time of year, that's why we leave a day early, as a buffer against bad weather.

As for now.... woohoo:woohoo: :cool1: :yay: , I'm not talking to myself anymore.

Our December cruise weather was very good with the exception of CC where a cold front came through during the day. My DS & I were out on the Personal Eco Tour freezing when the very dark clouds rolled in.

The weather on last years cruise (01/21/06) was great. At the sail-a-way party it was warm, about 80, for us northern folks, 80 in Jan. hot. The islands were also warm, both St. Maarten and St. Thomas were in the low to mid 80's.

Castaway Cay was the only cool stop, if you want to call 71-72 cool, tho you did notice it when the sun went behind the clouds. The water at CC was a little cool also but the kids didn't seem to mind.

Hello!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait to go on this cruise, and I am psyched to find this board with all Disney crazies like ourselves.

We are a group of 3; Husband, wife, and 6 y.o. on sailing.

We have cruised previously on RCL but have wanted the DCL trip for soooooo long. We will be renewing our vows on this trip...can't wait.

I can't believe we have to wait an entire year, although I am certain it will fly by, especially if I have someone to talk to about it. We are trying to convince more friends to join us. I have a family of 6 that has booked!!! Yeah!!

Hi, everyone! My DH just gave the go-ahead for this cruise last night, but I haven't booked yet. My kids (DS will be 12 and DD will turn 9 during cruise) have 2 days that week off of school, so it looks like the perfect time. I'm glad to hear that weather can be very pleasant this time of year. Welcome Mousefamily,

Glad to have you onboard. Nice to see that you had fabulous weather, last year at this time, we had great weather too, except for a cool (not cold) day at Castaway Cay.

We hear on the boards that the ships don't have unlimited internet anymore, just wondering if they started that policy on your cruise?

We booked a week or two ago for this cruise. We are a family of 4 with DD10, DS8.

We were on the Wonder in 4/06 but this will be our 1st time on the Magic (although we have cruised Carnival several times).

I'm the most excited about DCL (DH isn't even sure he wants to go, but he's booked anyway!). We're cruising Alaska in July, so I guess everyone else has to get through that one before they'll get excited about DCL.

Here in NH we have 2 school days off that week too -- that's why I picked it.

I'm hoping for the begining of May, last couple of years it didn't freeze solid, this year, I think it's about 3/4 solid. Last year the kids were in there near the end of May, I like the water a little warmer than that, I think they would go in if there were ice flows.;)

You are better than us...we usually shoot for Memorial Day weekend, and then it is really only the 5y.o. that enters the clear blue, icy cold waters!!! I wait until July when the h2o temp hits 70+....I have been begging for a heater for years, however my request has not been granted at this point in time.pixiedust:
Today, the temps are under 10 degrees due to an Alberta clipper that decided to come through our area..BBBBRRRRRRRRR

Hi everyone!!!

Well, we just booked our cruise and it looks like we will be joining you on the ship!!
Let me introduce my family, my name is Beth, hubby is Rick and we will be cruising with 2 of our sons, Stephen (17 at cruise time) and Michael(10 at cruise time). We are retired Air Force and still working at the base here in NC.

This will be our 4th Disney cruise, our 2nd 7 night one, and our first time to the Eastern side. We took a double dip cruise last July with our friends..That being said, let me tell you about the rest of our gang.

Joining us will be our friends John and Shirley(also Air Force)
Their daughter and son(adults)
Their other daughter and son in law(Air Force stationed in Guam)
Our friend Angie(Air Force) and her 2 daughters (18 and 13)
And possibly 2 other families.
We all cruised together last summer. Get the feeling we are military?? LOL

I look forward to counting down the days till the cruise with all of you!!

And, because of my OCD issues...:upsidedow ...I fit in with the military view point. Not only that, most of my patients think of me as a drill sargent. ;)

Hello Beth, glad to have you and your family and your friends with us. I will be sailing with Cheryl who wrote above. We have been friends for about 20 years now and we also work together. My son Jake will be 12 at sailing time. His worst nightmare is having to spend time with his sister Abby who will be 7 1/2 on this cruise. My brother is also Air Force. He has been out now for a while. My son loves to hear about his station in Turkey with Desert Storm. Have a good day and we will be talking. Tricia

We had a high of 82 here yesterday, and another warm day being forecast for today.

Hi, all. I just booked our cruise for 1/19/08! :cool1: It will be me, DH & DS4 (at cruisetime). My husband & I used to cruise a lot BC (before child) but this will be our first one since our honeymoon in 2002!

I'm surprised there aren't more of us here :confused3 - early dinner seating is already booked out and we are waitlisted for the early seating (I can't imagine bringing DS to the late seating). Does anyone think that will be a problem getting changed?

We have never done a Disney cruise & are really excited. We have been to the World 2x (1/07 & 3/06) with our son and look forward to seeing our friends again soon.

Do any of you out there have kids that will be in the 3-5 age group for this cruise?

By the way, I am hoping that we don't get much snow here tomorrow night, too. We are just up the road from you, chepic - we are in northern MA right on the NH border.

Having cruised with our son before, we knew that the late dining would be bad. I have read on the boards that getting the time change is usually accomplished, so you should be o.k. How much snow did you get? We ended with about 6 inches and then all turned to mush!! Good for business though, in PT we see alot of motor vehicle accident patients.

Weather here has been great the past few days, upper 70s Sat, Sun & Mon, but today only in the 50s, back to reality.

Use this link, http://v50.net/cdgenerator.php, and they should walk you through putting a countdown clock in your signature, or if you have any trouble, you can go to the DIS tech board and get help there.

Has anyone started making their pre & post cruise plans yet?

We are planning on flying in on Friday (we never know what our weather here will bring in the winter), renting a car from Budget & staying a at a hotel near the port. When we get off the boat we plan to get a new rental car from Budget, drive down to SeaWorld for the day, stay near there and fly home on Sunday (depending on flights we may even go back to Seaworld in the morning if they are still having the 2nd day free special and we feel like it).

We haven't decided where to stay yet. When do you guys start making those reservations - will the prices go up or down as we get closer? Should we start making reservations now? Where do you stay?

We will more than likely fly out on Sat. morning on Southwest. If during the week, the weather looks bad for the weekend, we will reconsider changing it. I want to keep time out of school to a minimum. Also, there are alot of us going so it would help if we were all on the same flight out.

I would love to book some on-board things, but we have to wait for that.

We are travelling from our home in the Falkland Islands on Jan 5th and doing the Disney parks etc before our cruise.

If you go to YouTube and put, Disney, Magic and cruise, into the search, they have a lot of video's that other cruisers have taken. This might give you an idea of the size of the crowds.

If the ship is really full, what are the chances for good times at Palo, spa appts & shore excursions being gone? I know they save some for on the ship, but are the times decent or are they like 4:30pm for dinner?

Let's face it, not everyone is like us.....thinking this far in advanced:thumbsup2 I can't tell you how many people I know that go ito Disneyworld without even the slightest plan formulated in their heads and then walk around bumping into everyone else as they stare in amazement at all the things around them.:rotfl2:

As for Thurs. night, because we have such a big group, I guess there is a private room/area in Palo that they will sit us at. We are renewing our vows at 6:00, so we are going up to Palo at 7:15.

And yes tpirate: we will be dressing up for Pirate night....how could it be fun if you don't get dressed!!! My niece is a pirate freak, so we will be borrowing some things from her. Not sure how I am going to tell them - any ideas? We wont have seen them in over a year so its going to be really special :cloud9:

Gixer: on the 1st thread there is a Pay -it-forward thread where someone will send a Disney cruise postcard to someone for you. We did it for our son at Christmas and he was so psyched to get the card. They just ask that when you go on your cruise, that you do the same....not a bad way to let them know.

Wow, we survive the wedding and I miss 2 new pages of posts..looks like I have alot of catching up to do with you guys!!

The weather was beautiful and so was our daughter..I will have to try and figure out how to make the picture small enough so everyone can see...

I am not to sure when we are planning Palo...there is a big group of us as well. And we ALL dress alike for pirate night. Last year there was 12 of us dressed identical with shirts I made and swords(foam) eye patches and bandanas..LOL This year there are 21 of us...

Now that wedding week is over, its time to start designing our shirts, and door signs...

What a great idea to have a postcard sent! I will have a look at the thread - thanks for the tip :thumbsup2

Glad the wedding went well and the weather held out for you! WOW another HUGE party - 21 of you guys? sounds like this is going to be such a fun cruise! glad that you are dressing for pirates night, I have got the kids outfits sorted and am working on grouchy DH :lmao:

Has anyone thought about excursions yet? its soooo difficult trying to choose! We are going to do the Trunk Bay trip to St John as I have read so many posts that say its just beautiful, not sure about St Maarten though - think we may just have a wander around the shops and head back to the ship for a quiet afternoon ;)

Bethipoo4 - Congratulations! I'm glad the day was beautiful.

I booked our hotel for the 1/18 yesterday. We are staying at Country Inn & Suites at the port. The price had gone up $10 since last month so I figured I'd better book now before that happens again. We are planning at staying near SeaWorld for 1 night after the cruise and still need to figure that out. Any suggestions are welcome...

So far as excursions on St Thomas & St Maarten - We have narrowed it down quite a bit but have not made a final decision. I'm thinking that DS4 would love the semisub or the sub. So, we have to decide whether to do the Atlantis sub in St. Thomas through DCL, the semisub in St. Thomas at Coral World or the semisub in St. Maarten through DCL. Does anyone have opinions on the best way to go?

We are also thinking about Paradise Point in St. Thomas and Maho Beach in St. Maarten to see the airplanes.

My gut says Coral World with the semisub and Paradise Point in St. Thomas - all on our own. Then Maho Beach in St. Maarten (best times for the airplanes is 1-3pm so I haven't thought about what to do that AM) also on our own.

What are you guys thinking?

Gixer
04-25-2007, 01:18 PM
The sub idea sounds great :thumbsup2 We dont want a beach day in St Maatren as we will be having beach time at CC and Trunk Bay. I think Coral world looks great but we have some time at Seaworld and Discovery cove before our cruise so dont think we will go for that.

DH has no desire to go to the French side of St Maarten and as we are ex RAF we have had enough of aircraft for a while ;)

I was thinking of the under 2 flags tour but dont know if it might be a bit boring for the kids?
TBH I think I am leaning towards just dumping my Dad and DH off at the barefoot bar for a couple of hours where they can have a few beers, while Mum, DD's and I will hit the shops then spend the rest of the day on the ship ;)

If everyone is doing Palo dinner on Thursday - what day are you all thinking of doing Palo brunch? I was thinking the first sea day?

Bethipooh4
04-25-2007, 03:31 PM
Thanks everyone for the wedding wishes..I have to get the CD from DH and maybe I can get a pic posted on here. It was a perfect day, I think,. I don't remember to much of it...lol

I guess now that life is back to normal, we need to think about our shore excursions...I haven't given any of it much thought. I do know we will do the stingrays at CC and I think DS(17) will parasail.

I would love to do a spa villa with hubby, we did the rasaul last time. But its kinda pricey to me.

Dh and I may pass on Palo dinner this cruise, I am not to sure what the rest of the group is going to do. I do want to book brunch though.

So has anyone thought of or planned a DIS meet for the cruise? Or did I miss that while I was in wedding mode?

jsheridan
04-25-2007, 03:31 PM
Gixer mentioned that Coral World might be too similar to Sea World. We are planning on going to Sea World after the cruise. Anyone been to both that has an opinion? Are they a lot alike?

We aren't sure about Palo brunch. I want to be sure that DS4 enjoys the Oceaneer Club so I am thinking that maybe we'll try for Monday rather than Sunday. Hopefully he'll be comfortable there by then... :confused3

My fear is that we won't get to Palo at all because he won't stay at the club. :sad1: Anyone have that happen?

Any of you want to babysit? :rotfl2:

Gixer
04-25-2007, 06:15 PM
I have read loads of posts from people who's kids are at that very clingy stage and they didnt hold out much hope for them staying in the clubs - but then had a real suprise when the kids started crying because they didnt want to leave the clubs when mom or dad came to pick them up :rotfl:
Hopefully your little one will be just fine and you will get a bit of adult time to have dinner etc :thumbsup2

DH and I have decided not to do birthday/christmas gifts this year - we are going to do a couples villa instead, it looks great, your right about the price though - hope its worth it!

I looked closely at the coral world option & figured we will see stingrays and go snorkelling at Discovery cove and see most of the other stuff at seaworld. We are pretty lucky and have spent a lot of time in Egypt & the middle east so have done diving off some spectaculor coral reefs so we decided to give Coral world a miss - but if you havent seen that type of thing before it would be a good excursion I think?

Nobody has got around to sorting a DIS meet yet, but it would be fun to have a drink or two with you guys so count us in! :dance3:

We went to Coral World....many years ago and I would say it is not really that much like Sea World, I don't remember them have shows or rides. I bet they have a web site to check.

On our first cruise, Max was 4 and at first he couldn't wait to get into the kids club....we cruised alone and so he didn't know anyone. Within 2 hours we received a page to come get him. He never wanted to go back. On the last day of the cruise, we had booked the "romantic ritual" :love2: with the Rasul room and then dual massages. I was practically crying at the doorway for him to go in. A wonderful kid's club worker came up and gently took him by the arm and told us to enjoy ourselves, he would be fine.....and of course he was.

I think the worst part for him was that he didn't know anyone, and I didn't talk it up. This time we are cruising with kids that he knows and we have been really talking it up to him. So hopefully when we go into the Rasul room this time we won't have an issue:rolleyes1

That's what we did last year, went to the Butterfly Farm, did a little shopping by the ship, then, went onboard and enjoyed the peace of a empty ship.....BTW the pools were fairly empty too.

gixer-DD turns 12 in a few months! Sorry for the confusion! I know she would like to chat with others going. On our last cruise, the girls sent PM's back and forth and then started IM'ing each other after awhile.

The butterfly tour should be interesting for your 6 year old. We had a good time there. Also on the tour they take you to a out door shopping market, still got back to the ship for some quite time on board before the Pirates of the Caribbean night.

I assume there is an early morning excursion so we can get back to the ship early enough to enjoy the pool? If not, I think we will hand on the ship that day and just enjoy. :confused3 It is tough making these all important questions, isn't it!! :thumbsup2

Count us (me, DW, and DD4) in on this cruise as well. We are excited to be finally doing a Disney cruise (we are Princess veterans).

I read that some of you want something fun to do on St Maarten. We go there every year (timeshare) and this is going to sound a bit weird, but one of the most fun things to do is to go to the Sunset Beach Bar at the end of the airport landing strip at Maho beach and watch the big planes land right over your head. Other things we like to do:

- Guavaberry coladas on Front Street

- Shopping in the Maho Beach (quieter than Front Street and some better deals - also a Haagen-Daas, which is always a good thing).

- Wasting away at Ilet Pinel. This is leisure.

- If you are adventurous, take the ferry from Marigot to Anguilla for the day. It is only a 15 minute ride and Anguilla is full of beautiful beaches. Ferries run on a set schedule, so you can plan when you would need to return. I'd go to Shoal Bay East and spend a few hours...

Also, to those concerned about the "topless" part of the island, just stay on the Dutch side and you will be fine.

Tidefan,

Welcome! It is great to see that there another 4 year old in our group! My son will turn 4 the week before the cruise. Just finished potty training (I think!) - had to be ready for the cruise!

We were actually already planning on going to Maho Beach to see the planes. My son will love it - he is very into airplanes.

Is that beach nice enough to spend the better part of the day at? We understand that the best time to see the planes is from 1-3pm, but we didn't want to have to drive too many places so we were hoping to just go to that beach for the day and leave around 2-3ish to get back for a nap.

Thanks for your input.

I don't know if you'd want to spend more than an hour or so at the Sunset Beach Bar watching the planes. Usually, they do come in all right around each other in the 1 to 3 range. There is a surfboard with at chalkboard on it at the Beach Bar that lists the arrival times of all of the planes. I would suggest doing some shopping over in the Maho plaza as there are numerous good shops there (and a Haagen-Daas place).

Now, if you were looking just for a beach day in St Maarten, you won't do any better than going to Ilet Pinel. Granted it is on the French side, so you never quite know what you are going to get, but it is a small crowd. The nice thing about Pinel is that it is a sand spit off of the island, so you can wander out to about 40 to 50 yards off of the beach and only be in about 3 feet of water. Also, you will truly feel as though you have gotten away as the French side has a lot more undeveloped area than the Dutch side. Pinel is one of those places where at the restaurant out there, if you order the lobster, the guy goes out to the cage in the water, grabs your lobster, and cooks it right there for you.

I would also allot some time to wander down Front Street in Philipsburg. They completely renovated it a couple of years ago and if you haven't been in a few years, you will not believe how much nicer it is. IMHO, it is much nicer than Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas.

Just hope all the cabins don't sell out while the motivation kicks in!!

We were waitlisted for first seating on our first curise, and it had come through before we got our documents in the mail. We just booked, and we are also waitlisted for first seating. I understand they try to put families with small children in the first seating, so others might get switched around as time goes on.

From what I understand, Cat 12 will only sleep up to 3, so if you booked 4 in a Cat 12, you will be upgraded to at least an 11.

As for when to hear, it could be as soon as the next time you check your reservation, or as late as when you check in at the port. However, regardless of what dining or room you get, you'll have an awsome time!

Beth......what is a dis-bag exchange? I am up to doing a meet and greet. We did one on the EOS on RCL 2 years ago and what a great way to start the cruise off. We ended up on an excurision with a family from the board....not intentional, but good anyways.

What a DIS bag exchange is, at the DIS meet, if you choose to participate, you bring a gift bag with things in it pertaining to your hometown, or state. Doesn't have to be expensive, last year we put a max limit on the bags(which no one stuck to..LOL). And at the meet, you have a bag exchange with the other DIS'ers who participated.

Example, in my bag, I had UNC stuff, Carolina Hurricanes, and things from the AF base we are at. The bag I got had all kinds of things from Illinois in it!!

We also played DIS tag!!

I had also made magnets for everyone, and another DIS'er had made us all buttons.

We did the same sort of thing on our cruise in Oct of 2005. The only difference is that we each brought a small bag for everyone who wanted to participate and they got passed around to each room (usually left on the fish!) throughout the cruise. Distag with prizes, basically. :)

So, I am so excited about this trip, I thought it would be fun to get to know one another a little...just a few little tid bits. So, here goes..I am a registered nurse, and a Red Sox fanatic! This is my first cruise, so I am excited, yet terrified at the same time. Jason, my husband, is a meat cutter/manager. Also first time cruiser and Red Sox freak, and one heck of a good daddy. We are mainly outdoorsy people..we like to hike, and keep the kids out of doors as much as possible. Jacob, the little man, just started tball and loves it. He starts kindergarten in the fall. Abby is my 3 going on 13 year old...total teen girl attitude already. She just had her first ballet recital this past Saturday, and you'd think she'd died and gone to heaven!

DEFINATELY!!!! The tea on the ship is not sweet....its amazing how quickly you come to love the tea here.

So... a little about our family...we are here in NC, courtesy of the Air Force. Our group of 21 has split to a group of 11 and a group of 10. The other group is 3 sisters and their families who have decided to go do their own thing, so our group of 10 is 3 Air Force families, one coming from Guam to go with us.
I am Beth(45), Dh is Rick (49) and we have 4 children, 2 that are grown and on their own(see daughters wedding below...lol..I hate the tiny pic) and 2 that are going with us, Stephen (17) and Michael (10). We are transplanted northerners, we are originally from Pa and NJ. This is our 4th Disney cruise, and our 2nd 7 night one, but our first Eastern cruise. Last year our group did the 2 stops at Castaway Western cruise.

Our family loves football (GO EAGLES) and hockey. DS runs track and youngest plays baseball, and both bowl in the local youth league. DH is Michael's cub scout leader, and they are planning their camping trip for June.
I am a SAHM, and volunteer at youngest's school, as well as in charge of the boxtops and labels for education for his school.

I wonder how I can get some local wine on the plane for my DIS bag?? What can be better...Red Sox players, lobster, cheese, sweet tea and wine?:rotfl:

Let's see. I am Kathy and I am a SAHM. Before our Daughter was born I was a tech writer at The Nature Conservancy. Pretty dry and boring stuff. Being a Mom is much more fun! I've lived in VA all my life except for college.

My husband is Jeff and he works for Lockheed Martin. He's a model railroad builder so our basement is full of trains. :) He's an Air Force brat who lived everywhere but calls Colorado Springs, CO home.

Katie turns 5 in a couple of weeks and her dance recital isn't until the end of June. It will be her second though. They are so cute! Katie is a girly girl in mannerisms but she is obsessed with trains and Disney Cars.

We usually cruise with our best friends who have a daughter Katie's age and Son two years younger, but we are doing this trip without them.

That is about all. We are pretty boring overall :)

MissyOHHHHH my goodness! We're booked for this cruise, too! We were on the Halloween Eastern Cruise 2006 with you! We were supposed to take the Return Repo cruise but realized our son would miss way too many days of school, so we changed our reservation to this January cruise. :)

Bethipooh- Howdy, neighbor! We're just a short 1/2 hour from you here in Faison, NC! We moved here from CT back in July 2006 and absolutely love it here. I love the idea of the gift bags- I'll have to give it some thought about what to put in ours...hogs? Sweet potatoes? Hmmm.....

I love the list of travellers that someone compiled! Brett, could you copy the list onto your first post on the first page and maybe update it as needed? That way it's easy to see who's on the boat with us! :)

Our party includes: DH35 Scott, Sherry (me!) and DS12 (almost 13)

This is our 3rd Disney Cruise and we tried a week on RCI and just love Disney so much more.

Can't wait to get to know ya'll!!!

It depends on your definition of the term "Yankee" :crazy2: . We here in Massachusetts consider that to be almost a curse!

Go Red Sox! :cheer2:

It will be me (Julie - 35 next week :scared: ), DH James (will turn 42 on the day of our sailing), and DS Jake (will turn 4 the week prior to sailing). I manage an insurance agency and DH works for the phone company. We are Red Sox fans and DH is a die hard Patriots fan (me, not so much. I watch occasionally to humor him).

Of course the AFC & NFC Championship games are scheduled on 1/20/08. We will be at sea that day. I already had to promise DH that he could watch the game (either in Diversions or someone said that it may be on the Arielvision screen). We do assume that his beloved Pats will be involved.

This will be DS first cruise and our first since DS! We have been on about 6 or 7 cruises with NCL, Celebrity & 1 Carnival that we hated. This is our first with DCL.

BTW - I mentioned my dilemma to him about what is Mass known for. His only additional response was bad drivers! :car: Can't pack them either...

EEEKKKK...now this could be a interesting cruise if the Eagles get lucky and make the playoffs...Dh and I are huge fans, and the other family we are with live and breathe Steelers...NE is a bad word in our family.:scared1:

OK, I am sorry if anyone is stressing over these DIS bags....let me try to give you a few ideas...(since i am the bad person who brought it up)

In the bag I received from Illinois....it had a beanie baby from Illinois, a white sox bottle opener, some playing cards, a beautiful votive holder with scenes of Illinois on it, a magnet, a walgreens gift card, a underwater camera(a huge help, since we forgot one) and some candy.

In mine, I had a mini stanley cup since the Hurricanes had just won, a magnet, a mug with a lighthouse on it, some playing cards, a postacrd and coin from the base, a bottle of our local wine, and some UNC stuff.

It doesn't have to be big or expensive, just some fun stuff to remember our DIS friends we meet.

In one bag there was a bottle of Jack Daniels since they were from Kentucky..
Our friends from Guam brought a handmade clock made on the island.

Hope these ideas helped  . I remember going to Cape Cod and going to a candle factory there, and cranberry bogs...I LOVE dried cranberries and candles...(hint hint)LMAO

:scared1: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:

No Orange? Ack! I don't think I could do Crimson! :) Okay, so the reality is that I probably wouldn't do Orange either, but.....

I'm gonna date myself here, but when I was in 4th grade, we went to the World's Fair in Knoxville and I decided then that I was going to go to UT. As I got older, I got into band and as UT has THE BEST band in the South, that helped cement my decision. Also, Orange is a good color for me. :) Oddly, my maiden name is McClung which is a pretty popular name down there at UT what with a building and a museum with the name McClung. I'm sure I am related to those people, as my Father was born in Murfreesboro, TN and a lot of our relatives are from the TN, VA, NC area, but I couldn't even come close to telling you HOW I am related to them. :)

OMG.....I didn't even THINK about this.

See, in our family, we are a little bit backward. I LOVE Football. I am a Cowboys fan first, a Redskin fan second (Yeah, I know that is strange, but I became a Cowboys fan at an early age to bug my Mom who is a die hard Redskin fan! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I still like the Redskins too.) and a Denver fan third (Husband from Colorado). When we started dating, Jeff would spend all day Sunday watching games with me. He knew about players and the whole thing. Well, now I know that it was in an attemt to woo me because once we were married, he pretty much stopped watching! Sure, he watches the big games, but that is about it. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Since this is the year of a Cowboys or Denver comeback :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ) or maybe even the year that the Redskins win a game or two :happytv: :happytv: , I'll probably have to take time out of cruising to watch the games!

sjcubedofct, I just wanted to say Welcome, especially to another NCer!

I think that makes 3 groups from NC now - anyone else from here we don't know about? :)

It seems like the days are slowly dragging by. When we booked last years double dip, it seemed like the time flew by, and we had over 540 days to go when we booked it. Its almost summer break, so I know that goes by in a blink for us.

So who besides me is going to be insane enough to go see POC 3 this weekend when it opens? They are having a special showing Thursday night here at 8. I think I will pass on that one...

Hi to all the new people! It seems that North Carolina is taking over the ship! My parents currently live in Hendersonville (near Ashville), NC so at least I have a connection there!

We've had a crazy weekend. We left Thursday and drove up to Danbury, CT for a wedding that was held on Saturday. We drove back Saturday night after the wedding (got in at 1:00am!) so that we'd be here on Sunday for a Handbell Concert that we were in (Jeff and I both play). THEN, Jeff left this morning at 4:00am for a business trip in Denver. Jeff considers Colorado home so he was excited to go back there. He's already called me twice this morning to tell me to pack up the important things and start driving west, but he is obviously mostly joking! :rotfl:

I think I need a vacation. Preferrably a cruise vacation. :yay: :yay:

 Me! Although I am not as excited about it as I was. At Disney World, they had a story book for the new movie and me, being the dork that I am, grabbed it and turned to the back to see how it ended. It didn't end the way that I wanted it to, so I am a little bummed. I really think that they should clear these endings by me before they make them. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Hopefully it will seem better in the movie than in the book!

JK Rowling should take special note about my request to run all book endings by me. I am worried that the Harry Potter saga won't end the way that I want and I will be devastated!

OH NO...ok, part of me wants to know how it ends in the book, but then on the other hand, I don't want to go into the movie disappointed....

Speaking of Colorado....DS just got a packet to apply to the AF Academy. He is torn what to do, part of him wants to go to the academy, then the fear of rejection sets in, and he says he is just going to go in straight out of HS, go to college courtesy of the AF and then become a pilot. We told him whatever he decides to do, we are behind him 100%. Oh the decisions for a 17 yr old to make...lol

If he wants to go into the Air Force, why not try for the academy. If they say no, then he can just move on and go the other route, or maybe ROTC if they have that!

I should say that I don't have the foggiest clue how all the academy stuff works, so I may not know what in the world I am talking about!

He has taken ROTC all 3 years so far, both semesters...
He went online last night to fill out the pre-application, man does he have alot of classes to take next year to get caught up on what he needs to even be considered. Definately not something to wait till the end of your jr year to decide on...lol But we are just parents...what do we know???:confused3

Kids, gotta love them.:lmao:

I had a MILLION things to do today - so why have I just sat for almost 2 hours reading trip reports?

I love reading trippies, so was excited to find quite a few new ones with OUR Eastern Itinerary in the trip report forum! :surfweb: :woohoo:

Ok - so now Im going to fly around the house like a mad woman and pretend to DH when he gets home from work that Iv been flat out busy all damn day :laundy: :rolleyes1

Shhhhhh - dont tell him ok?! :rotfl2:

Thank goodness I am not the only one....
I am totally caught up in the repo trip report going on....:surfweb:

I will have to go look at the new Eastern trip reports, I need some reviews on excursions.

Of course I am also sitting here waiting for my DING alert to go off...we are going to Florida to see family for a week this summer, and with gas prices the way they are, it looks like its cheaper to fly. Plus, I want to plan a surprise side trip to Universal while we are there..GASP..not WDW....But I am thinking about adding a day or 2 after the cruise to WDW since it will be our anniversary the day we get off the ship, especially since we spent our honeymoon in Disneyland. But SHHHH that is going to be another surprise.

Maybe I should do something productive, like work on our pirate night shirts, or make something for the DIS meet....:rotfl:

The addiction is so swift with the disboards!!! Once you are on, you are hooked. I find myself jumping on between patients, and thinking about what to look up next....it is scary!!!!

But, summer is right around the corner...and it will fly by. Then we have the fall and all the holidays that make it go even faster, and then BOOM....January will be upon us. :dance3:

It is crazy! I check the boards 2-3 times a day when I'm at work! Must stop. Can't stop... :surfweb:

I am going to Cape Cod for a week in June (few days of work, few days of fun) and have a week in both July & August at the lakes in NH. That should be enough to look forward to, but IT ISN'T!!! Those are nice, relaxing vacations, but it just isn't the same.:confused3

I just want to be able to continue planning stuff!

I have reserved our room at the CI&S the night before the cruise. Pretty much know what we are doing in ports (although we need to finalize those decisions. DH isn't ready to discuss yet since he feels it is still so far away!):hourglass

I am still waiting for SW to release their schedule. I want to have my flights before I reserve our rental car. Can't reserve anything on the ship until November. Want to plan! Want to plan! Want to plan! Waaah! :scared:

I guess the only other thing I could start looking at is a hotel near Sea World for the night after the cruise. Maybe I'll work on that. It'll keep me busy and is way more fun that working... :rolleyes1

I just reread this & realized that I sound like a totally obsessed nutcase with no life! Someone that I would hope isn't at MY table on the ship! :scared1:

Oh, well. I figure you guys can all relate...

Bah. these boards aren't addictive. And I'm not at a technical conference in Orlando sitting in a lecture right now posting to them. ;)

Ok, so I guess I am addicted too.

Weather down here has been great this week but it is very windy. Severe weather alerts today for the wind. Hope that doesn't affect any of the rides too much. I plan to go to MGM tonight once the conference is done.

Last night we had Universal Islands of Adventure rented out for the conference. It was fun, but it only took me an hour or so to do everyting I cared to do. Definitely will not be taking the family there anytime soon. Just not enough for the little ones.

Anyway, suppose I should try to pay attention and get something out of this. :)

Later,
Jim

Jim,
Are you, by chance, going to see the Blue Man Group while you're down there? We're thinking about seeing them the night before the cruise.

Not planning on it, no. I only went to Universal because the conference had an event there so admission was "free". Since they had rented out the park not everything was open...about 12 rides and most of the shopping but that was it.
