I need a "Top 3 things to see at each DVC resort" list.

When DH and I visit WDW in January, I'd like to visit each of the DVC resorts. It would be really helpful if I could get a list of "not to be missed" for each resort. (Just for the DVC resorts at WDW. You don't need to include HHI or VB).

You know, things like a particular area/hallway/lounge of the resort, a fountain, a view, a beach, a little tucked away corner, etc...the things that you find special about a particular resort. Like a "top three things" to see at each resort.

Personally, I have never been in a WDW resort, DVC or otherwise, that did not exceed my expectations. So for me, it's all about location. That's why I prefer BWV. Being able to walk or take a boat to Epcot and MGM is a huge plus. It's nice to not have to depend on a bus for everything. My suggestion would be to take a side trip to the Boardwalk area by going from Epcot or MGM rather than arriving at the resort by bus or car. That way you can get a feel for what, IMO, makes BWV and BCV special.

Beyond that, I guess it's largely a matter of what is important to you and your family. Check out the pools and the restaurants. My DW loves to get up early and walk down to the Boardwalk Bakery for a muffin and a latte in the morning.

OKW: Walking across the bridge from Hospitality House over to villas on Peninsular Road, Turtle Pond and South Point - or renting a surrey bike and riding this route; sitting out on the balcony/porch with your morning coffee or juice and watching the birds, fish and groundskeepers with a mist on the water.

VWL: Sitting in the Iron Spike Room reading a book (with the fireplace going); looking for the hidden Mickey's in the VWL lobbies.

BCV: Taking a photo of the kids with Ariel; looking for the Villagator (if it is still there); getting one of the rooms with the BIG balcony.

The night time Electrical Water Parade at the VWL is a must see from the beach. I also like walking up the path in front of the lobby of the WL, there's a balcony to view the scene. I love to walk out there especially at night. The lights, the stars, the beauty of it all, you are so close to the action in the pool, but set apart somehow. I like to sit on a rocking chair at the lodge, read and relax, look at the water and I've even seen bald eagles over the water.

When I want some action at the WL, especially in cooler weather, I rent a bike, ride the trail through the woods to Ft. Wilderness.

PS. In warmer weather, at BCV and BWV, I always stop to smell the gardenias. They are heavenly.

At BCV, some of my favorite things are:

1) Climb the pirate ship to the kiddie pool. Take a look at Crescent Lake from here...it is beautiful. Then, turn around to look at the BC...gorgeous!!!

2) If you go in the summertime, check out Illuminations while sitting at SAB.

3) Grab a glass of wine and watch the sunset on the beach.

At VWL, make sure you see the Geyser and the Water parade.

If you haven't seen any of the villas inside, you might try to arrange something. If you haven't seen an OKW 1-B/R, you'll be amazed at how spacious it is. That's the most special thing about OKW.

Also, OKW, take the water taxi (free) to DD.

If you and your DH can get up a little early, one of our "not to be missed moments" is at the BCV. Walk around the lake to the broadwalk bakery, pick up some thing sinfully delicious and sweet, then sit on the beach and watch the "world" come alive. It's our favorite way to start our day.

Have a dessert a beaches and cream.

My next one technically belongs to the Broadwalk villas, but I'm stealing it.
Take a surrey bike ride and see if you can make it up the hill, without stopping or laughing to death.

Couldn't agree more, and while you are at OKW, be sure to check out the slide at the main pool. The best view at ANY DVC is probably the one looking toward the arched bridge at OKW from across the canal and looking toward Hospitality House. THe best villa view is of buildings 55 and 46 and 47.

SSR...

1. Walk around the paths across from the main pool...the paddocks section...very nice.

2. A second on taking the DTD walkway...I really liked the one from the West Side (Cirque end) over to SSR...goes around the edge of the lake and to the back side of the Carriage House.

3. Spend some time at the Spa.

At OKW
1. Take that walk across the bridge about 9:00pm, stop and watch the high Illuminations fireworks. It isn't much to see, but it's kind of nice.
2. Stop into Gurgling Suitcase for a beverage of your choice (I recommend the Sultry Seahorse). It's such a quaint, small (VERY) spot, gives you a real little community feel.
3. Spend some time lying around on a beach chair at a pool, listening to the Jimmy Buffet music.

Ohhh, it all sounds so wonderful. I'm taking notes so we can see as much as we can while we're there.

I really do want to check out those OKW 1 bedrooms because when we go back to WDW with our little guys sometime next year, that extra-large room just may be the ticket for us. :thumbsup2 And that sandcastle slide sure looks like fun!
