Like many, our flight is earlier than check in. I know we can leave our check in baggage with the front desk. We are using ME so our regular luggage will come later anyway. Im worried about my laptop. Im taking it as carry on. Will the front desk hold it? will it be put in a safe? god forbidd will someone steal it? THanks

Ft. Wilderness will store your laptop in their secure storage area with the rest of your carryons until your cabin is ready.
Also, before I got access to a wireless air card, I just stored my laptop in their secure lockers at the reception area as I had to go up there anyway to use the internet. (I stay at partial hookup sites in a tent).
Now that I have the aircard, I just lock up the laptop at my site.

after we have our cabin I will look it up then. I have an internal wireless card, not an aircard. I dont need it for internet. I need it to download my digital pictures and our video every night. We are picture happy. lol
Thanks :)

Your internal wireless card will only work if there is a wireless signal within range. I do not think the cabins have wireless internet, but I don't know so you will need to check. I think cable modems are available at the desk for a fee. If not they have internet available at the outpost, but I think it is dail up.

My wireless connection is a Verizon AirCard which does not need a signal. It is a highspeed over the cell phone network. It works quite well at Ft. Wilderness. However, cards like the T-Mobile HotSpot don't work at Ft. Wilderness.

Yes, your laptop will be perfectly safe with bell services before your cabin is ready.

Sorry, a little OT but can you tell me more about this. I will have my laptop mainly for my pictures, but I would like to be able to get online with out paying disney a fortune.

That is the aircard and it is the Verizon National Access Plan.
