View Full Version : Pictures of an Empty Park?

Hey everyone! I just love seeing those pictures people take when they stay late and NO ONE is in the park. For example: If you stay at MK late, you have Main Street all to yourself. I have never done this, but I love seeing pictures of people who have. Please share! Thanks!

Check the Technical Board. They have great info on that subject.

This was just before the 3pm parade... you KNOW what it normally looks like!

How about the Monday Hurricane Wilma blew thru last year. Parks were closed in the AM but then opened around 1 pm. DD and I were on one of the first busses to the MK- it was amazing! :cool1:
How about an empty Fantasy land as seen from Dumbo...

Thanks! That day was particulary fun for us - TS Ernesto (8/30/06) wound up not being as bad as anticipated her in Central FL, the schools were closed, and DD was driving me crazy, and since I work at home, I took the afternoon off and we went on the adventure to MK. It was very quiet - and did not rain at all until around 5pm. We just put on the ponchos, and carried on. She rode BTMRR about 11 times - only having to get off 3 times in all those rides. We left the park about 7:30 when a storm with lightning was ready to pass over! It is one of the days that I will remember for quite some time -spur of the moment, unanticipated day!

These pictures are AMAZING!!! I would love to be in the parks when no one is there. Not errie to me!! My only "empty park" pictures are the ones I have paid for!! Meaning a very pricey early breakfast at CRT. Wish I could get some of those day and evening shots where no one is there without having to pay for a meal to get them.

I wish I could find the link and pictures but I can't find it no matter what keywords I use for searching, but someone developed some software that processes pictures taken from the same place and based on the differences between the pictures, the software can tell what parts are part of the scenery and what parts are just people. So using those differences, it creates a picture of that area without people.
My first thought after reading that was how cool it would be to do that with Disney World.

My dad once got to do this.
He said it is one of the creepiest experiences that he has ever had.

Ever wonder what it would be like to have a little piece of WDW as your very own? Well, we did. Last May, as we entered EPCOT through the International Gateway we found that Great Britain was ours alone.
It began with no one at the gateway. Even the Friendship was deserted.
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g123/DAV_03/WDW%20Intl%20Gateway/P5080077.jpg
Across the "channel" France was without a Parisian strolling the boulevard.
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g123/DAV_03/WDW%20Intl%20Gateway/P5080079.jpg
While in Great Britain, the Queen (DW, with an ailing knee) toured her kingdom.
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g123/DAV_03/WDW%20Intl%20Gateway/P5080080.jpg
Not a soul was stirring in this quaint English village.
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g123/DAV_03/WDW%20Intl%20Gateway/P5080083.jpg
Not even a bird was chirping on this beautiful residential street.
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g123/DAV_03/WDW%20Intl%20Gateway/P5080131.jpg
And a sight never to be repeated, an English pub at mid-morning without a patron to be had.
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g123/DAV_03/WDW%20Intl%20Gateway/P5080086.jpg
Alas, 'twas a fantasy after all. For then . . . the outlanders began to arrive!

How about the Monday Hurricane Wilma blew thru last year. Parks were closed in the AM but then opened around 1 pm. DD and I were on one of the first busses to the MK- it was amazing! :cool1:
How about an empty Fantasy land as seen from Dumbo...

Hats off to Disney and the CM's who worked overtime taking care of everyone's pets. They finally got so overwhelmed that Disney gave the greenlight to most of the resorts to let evacuees/guests keep their pets in their room until the storm passed. pirate:

I would NEVER DO this to my dogs...
How "Horrible" !!!!
Disney should be ashamed...... So what would you have done different with another hurricane on your doorstep after having one come through already?(Charlie) Besides guests pets, where do you put all the evacuees pets? My family evacuated from the coast. Local shelters were full. Disney should be commended not bashed. CM's left their families and worked OT staying in the resorts and kennels playing, exercising and feeding the animals and keeping people posted. We were allowed there anytime prior to being locked down at the resorts. Things were handled quite well.
Sorry to get off topic. Lets see some more pictures pirate:

Haha, good idea. Same with us on Expedition Everest. We run to the ride, and DM lags behind and gets the Fastpasses, so by the time we get off the ride, she has the Fastpasses and we are ready to ride again in the next hour.

Everyone was watching Fantasmic but we had already seen it. We had a whole boat for The Great Movie Ride to ourselves. BrookeI went in Sept 2005. I'll have to wait until I get home this evening to post pictures. Mine have crowds in them but I took most of mine in the middle of the afternoon. I wish I had more pictures from the morning after Charley. I have never seen the TTC EMPTY before...one booth open and no line. There wasn't even a line to enter the park and not one line on any ride all morning long. I was too excited to jump from ride to ride to take pictures.
All these pictures showing the park for early morning ADR's are making me anxious! I have to wait until April to make mine!

Wow, quite a contrast to what I saw while we were there for Christmas. They were herding people into that building; up the far right side, around to the down escalator over to Soarin', back up the up escalator and out the far left side of the building. They had the walk way roped off so that was the only way to get around in the building. There were so many people in there that the line for Living with the Land ride was backed up to the point they were blocking the escalator so that people could not get off. They had to keep a CM there to make sure people kept moving away from the escalator.
By the way, are you from Oklahoma or just a Sooner fan?

thanks for all the pics everyone !! We are going the 3rd week of August. I hope it's as empty as those August 05 pics on the previous page. That would so totally rock ! :thumbsup2
The 3rd week in August is the LAST week of summer for most kids in the southern part of the country. Crowds shouldn't be too bad! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Glendamax, I just wanted to share something about one of the pics that you posted. When I was looking at them earlier, my 4yr old DD was looking over my shoulder and she asked me, "Daddy, how come she gets Small World all to herself and we have to wait in line forever!!":rotfl:
Thanks for the moment!:thumbsup2 That is soooo funny! I wish ALL the rides were empty like that!

I also have two on this page that I took back in '97 when we went. We entered at the International Gateway and we walked to the future world which was open through the lands areas, which weren't.:) On of the pictures is Canada, the other is the UK.

We had a great trip.
Something about AK in the rain, it almost feels like it was meant to be that way, much like (IMO) MGM was meant to be enjoyed in the evening. Nice pics, hope you made it through Ernesto o.k.

Thanks. Ernesto didn't really get going until later that evening and then it was just a heavy rain.

I'm surprised that they would let people into the park with all of that water on the ground.

It is just a dark pavement and looks darker wet and a gloomy day. We went to AK at opening and stayed until about 2ish. We were able to ride EE several times and do just everything we wanted to do with no wait and no crowds. When the heavy rain hit later in the evening I was at Epcot and was walking through plenty of flowing water as we were leaving for the night. There were little streams everywhere.

Sorry to be a bit off topic here, but does any one know where the other end of the skyway resides? This picture is the FantasyLand end of it. I know that it ended in Tomorrowland, but where? Are any of the structures still in place? :confused3 :confused3
