I didn't realize that they let you do that...

Yup. The CM's have to stay until the park is emptied. When I stayed I made sure that I wasn't keeping anyone late, so I left 2 minutes after the very last person left. I know those CM's have a long, hot day and they want to go to sleep! :goodvibes

I posted waaaay back when with pictures from Universal. I am happy to say I have a few of Disney now, too!! My mother, sistr and I took a girls' only/adults' only trip from August 26th to August 31st. We had a fabulous time. Parks weren't as empty as I would have liked, but it was the first week of free dining. Due to that fact, it wasn't bad.

Anyway (not all of them are completely empty like some of your but certainly not bad).....

Animal Kingdom is the only day I do not have pictures of an empty park. That place was absolutely crazy. The layout does not work well at all compared to the other parks. You would think Disney would have learned "if it ain't broke..."

This was about an hour after opening and it kept filling up...

It is! I have taken it twice and would do it again. Each guide gives you a little different perspective and trivia. I think the guide got annoyed with me this past spring because when we visited the Christmas warehouse he was going to skip the Christmas trees. I mentioned that to a few people around me and they insisted we see the trees. To see the size of the trees, how they are stored and the decorations was an important part of the tour I thought. Oh well, everyone enjoyed it.

Looks similar to how the park looked this past Sunday when I was there. There were certainly enough people at the front of the park but the crowds were divided substantially between the High School Musical Show by the hat and the Jedi Training Academy that the area directly inbetween was completely vacant. I took a picture, just need to upload it.

Wow, I haven't been lurking on the boards in ages, but I LOVE this thread! A few questions - I teach as well, do all districts allow you to take some days off without pay? I'd love to go down during off times (it's been ages since I've been able to do that). I think we've been down every month of the year and late November/earlyDecember has been the best for us because you get the bonus of the Xmas decorations. Also, what the heck is the "free dining" I keep seeing? Never heard of that one. Anyway, it's good to be back and keep those great photos coming!

OH my gosh, this would be the absolute coolest thing everprincess:

Free dining is the Disney Dining plan thrown in free with 3 or more days booked onsite at a Disney Resort. It has been offered last 3 or so years for the end of August and most of September, generally the slow season. We have taken advantage of it for the last two years and booked the bounce back during our stay last September. It is no certain that they will offer it again, but why wouldn't they if it brings more people to park during normally a slow time! They generally will announce it around the beginning of April. We love it because you get to try so many different restaurants and the lines for the attractions are still pretty good. The only busy time we have experienced is during the Labor day weekend, but after that we have had many days where we just walk on rides with no wait! Anyway, keep posted to see if they are going to offer free dining this year.

I have not been on this thread in a LONG time! I will tell you why! My last 2 Disney trips were right after Thanksgiving 2006 and 2007 (add 2005 in there too!) YUK! To busy for my liking! No empty park pics from those trips!

Now my trip in Sept 06! Those pics were nice and empty!! I will not be making any more trips to Disney right after Thanksgiving for a long while!

I paid $25 to be in MGM after hours. Almost everyone was running. Anyone like me was pretty much alone in the park. I was it on ToT for that one ride. Another ride I was with two others.
I also snapped several photos in the library since no one was around. The CM gave me a semi-mini tour.
There was not much going on. So glad I had this to make the $25 worthwhile. :rotfl2:
It was very unsettling being on the ride by myself. :scared1: I just kept feeling like someone was going to tap me on my shoulder. :confused3

I don't think a guest paying the $25 had to be with a race participant. But it was $25, and I think four rides were open, and their gift shops, one counter service, a few snack carts, and a band on a stage.
That was pretty much it. But well worth it if you want to ride RnRC and ToT all night. I think it lasted until midnight. Don't recall now.

This is also 12/16 at Magic Kingdom about 9:45am. We rode Pirates, BTMRR, Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain (in that order) by 10:15am.

It's crazy to get to see how much work is done in the middle of the night. An hour or so before this picture was taken the street was full of trucks and maintenance workers.

Your on pic of Main St shows Christmas decorations. Were all the pictures from the same trip? If so your are one lucky person. We went in mid Nov and it was jammed full of people. That's my fault for planning a trip the same weekend as super soap and the end of F&WF.

Yep- all pictures were taken in Dec '07 :) We were in MK at opening (the Castle/main stree pics about 30 mins after opening, tomorrowland about 45-1hr after opening) on Saturday, the 15th. AK we were at on Friday, the 14th.

We got some awesome photopass photos right in front of the castle (the man standing at the foot of the castle is a photopass guy). He said that's the only time of day they can be that close taking pictures. They turned out really well :)

Our anniversary is July 22nd- we were going to take the trip then, but then DH was deployed so we went not too l ong after he got home instead! It worked out well- I'd never seen the parks at christmas before! The longest wait we had for anything while we were there was 30 mins...for splash and food at CHH. Everything else was 10-15mins or less! I can't wait to do it again :)

I know these really aren't pictures of an empty park but there are no people in the shots. :thumbsup2 It was hard to get a clear/crisp picture of BTMR.:goodvibes If you look closely you can see stars. These were taken just prior to the park closing...maybe 8:45 or so.

I think I may have to give the credit to Tour Guide Mike. Either we were really lucky all week, or he was dead on in his crowd calendars. We followed his advice all week, and it was great. We did notice a lot of British people also, but we thought they were so polite and loved their accents, os maybe it didn't bother us as much :lmao:

And for the poster who said they wouldn't see this in July, its possible! Just be there either at rope drop, so you can push your way through to get the shot of the park just before it gets crowded, or you could stay later at a park. As people file out after the fireworks, stick around until few people are left. This is a prime opportunity to take pictures and to get a rare perspective of the park. Just don't be the very last one because I bet the CM's want to go home! :goodvibes

Do you have any idea how long they will sell them for? I did this with my DD on her 7th birthday. I just came back with my DS for his 7th birthday and I ended up buying him a crystal cube with a 3D image of his head in it-that was A LOT more $$$ than the Leave a Legacy and he's still upset that his sister is on Leave a Legacy but he isn't.:rotfl:

I'm going with my youngest DD in May but I wouldn't do it with her as that would just upset DS more. I would love to be able to do both younger DD & DS when we take a family trip in August.

On DD's birthday she had an early BBB reservation. Afterwards we went to the rope drop for Tomorrowland so that she could ride Space Mountain first. There were several CM's at the rope and they chatted with us a while and then, about 2 minutes before rope drop, let our family in and escorted us to Space Mountain. She was the first one to ride in the front of the first car that day and she was so thrilled! This is a pic of her leading our party through the empty tomorrowland.

I certainly didn't get anything resembling empty during our trip last week. It was more crowded than the last time I was there in mid June - never going at Mardi Gras again, that's for sure!!!!

Now THAT is scary. I'm surprised that Disney would let that happen, they usually have the fireworks go on without a problem.

I guess Disney hasn't quite perfected controlling the weather, even the wind direction and speed... there was a very low ratio of fireworks that went off compared to falling glowing cardboard... their 7/3rd & 4th displays will blow the face off any other fireworks display you've ever seen

it's worth it but you won't get a single empty park pic

make sure that if you go back to your hotel in the middle of the day you give yourself at least a few hours to get back to mk and find a spot... we were trying to head toward splash mountain when we got stuck there and we had to duck under a rope directing everyone entering the park backstage to tomorrowland...
